Developers really need to take a page out of GGG's playbook because THIS is how you truly engage with your community in a meaningful and honest way. As for the actual discussion: There's one specific thing I wanted to mention about rune words: I do think they could have a place even without being OP because there's other things they provided, that imo is somewhat similar to vendor recipes: 1. They feel like they're rewarding you for some "insider" game knowledge 2. They could provide deterministic crafting outcomes during leveling (think of rune words similar to poe1 weapon vendor recipes, but maybe slightly more powerful or archetype specific like a poison weapon recipe) 3. They allow you to farm "pieces of a whole" without the weakness of div cards, where 99% of cards are useless to you because they're too specific and you have to grind the same content over and over to get a full set. I do understand that they're probably annoying to balance though.
Amazing interview, bro. I only caught the tail end after work and jumped in at the end for all the fun hype. Thanks for posting the replay so soon so I could see what I missed. As somebody who never got that high tier in maps on POE1, I'm loving what he said about rare monsters that we'll see throughout the game. It's almost like at some point he was interviewed by like Talkative Hillock who represented the monsters and he asked if their rares could get their own passive skill tree and Jonathan was like "hmmm....I'll allow it" 😅

Listen to how Jonathan speaks. He said “without all that player feedback I could not have appreciated some of the problems we had with the game.” This is why ggg is the goat of arpg’s
That was an excellent interview! Well prepared, empathic and focused. You knew when to let him speak and endure moments of silence and thinking. I have seen many journalists fail at this. Congrats!
Jonathan loves his job and his game and it shows in how he speaks about it with such enthusiasm and energy. If nothing else that’s why i bought supporter pack to jump in day 1. We need more developers like this, this was a 1 hour long video as to why we should give these people our money early to play a free game. Great job GGG and talkative and can’t wait for next Friday
What’s crazy is how generous they are with information and transparency about EVERY aspect of there game. Ask a Diablo dev and you’ll never get 1/10th of the response GGG GIVES. Just like the content. GGG thrives on giving crazy good content and Diablo hints at content like it’s going to be Sooooo amazing. Just to be something that’s in every other game since 2005..
Yes! I was waiting for this, amazing podcast. How great that you asked the necessary questions and especially ascendancy. It seems that there is a lot of work behind all this and that is why it has taken time. Quality requires effort and dedication.
The fact that when he thinks back on the hardest days of making POE2 and is nearly brought to tears with thinking through the grit and grind, and the hundreds of hours of talking through systems, you can just feel the blood sweat and tears GGG has poured into this game. He knows the looks of the artist told to pause all work and head to end game war room mode, he knows the long hours, the difficult arugments over systems, and you can feel both the fear, worry, and pride in every answer he gives. Even if there are a ton of hiccups or things people don't like the humillity both him and Mark radiate it just astonishing. They basically coming to us saying. "look we poured our hearts into this, we really hope and we think you will like it. but if not we are hear to work with you to make both of our dreams come true." Whereas so far a lot of other dev teams, are like we did this, it's how it's going to be, trust us you going to like it. Even here you can feel the vibe GGG is like we did our best, made sure the quality was a mark we tried to hit on everything. Wish us the best of luck. See you in game exile.
Tri, I just want to glaze YOU for a second here and say you’re a very genuine and awesome creator. I love the quality of your videos and the passion you obviously have for what you’re doing. Content creation can be bullshit work sometimes, but we all appreciate you, and you deserve all the success you’ve had so far and so much more. Keep on doing what you’re doing man ❤
Just couple minutes in and damn, you really took all the criticism of the first interview to grow, it's shocking difference already so keep it up, great work!
that was such an amazing interview holy damn! the way you both talked made it incredibly fun to listen/watch. and you just had such a great set of questions ready that was amazing, way to go man
I'm so hyped that they are extracting out all of the vendor recipes into dedicated UI's! I mean, I could generally get by in POE 1 with vendor recipes, eventually by memory, but occassionally, having that sort of mental overhead hanging over me when deciding to jump back into PoE again has, at least a couple times, made me decide to play a different game.
As always, GOAT devs, GOAT game. New rare mobs system is kinda unreal, how are they still one-upping themselves. Thanks for your work Tri, amazing content.
A few months ago, I started playing PoE, and was having a really good time with the campaing. I dropped the game though, cause I couldn't stand the overwhelming feeling of trying to catch up with more than a decade of content. Since PoE 2 looks so much better than the first, i'm really excited to try it out from the beginning. I recently discovered your channel, and I must say, this interview was the best content i've seen related to the game. You certainly understood the concerns of totally newbies in the PoE universe, and made really relevant questions to help us get even more interested in the game. Great content indeed. Congratulations and thank you man! Cheers from Brasil!
Not being able to remove socketables is such a bold decision, and I'm so thankful they've designed the system this way. It turns a god-tier item or god-tier Soul Core into a jackpot with a question mark at the end of it. Really excited for the kinds of itemization decisions this will present.
The fact that GGG is obsessed with continuing to improve, and get better and never settling with their success, is admirable in today's age of game development.
26:20 "what is the most OP boss" is such a gigantic spoiler to ask. Some want to experience that without knowing up front. Really irritating. At least if there were fine-grained question chapters we could easily skip it, but now i have to skip and work backwards hopefully without spoiling anything. I'm dumbfounded, truly.
The thing about vendor recipies not being in poe2 is so good. I have played this game for 5+ years, and I never got the hang of the old system, and every time I needed to finish my challenges, I had to look them up each time on the wiki. So thanks for changing this to something more userfriendly. Also, thanks for the great interview Tri.
I might have commented on the way you hosted your first interview, and i'm happy to see that you have made huge improvements. Keep it up and thank you for listening to the feedback !
I wish nothing but great things for Jonathan and all of GGG. Honestly they just are pillars above every single developer from just their clarity and honesty alone. Also subbed, fantastic interview and hope you continue to grow Tri!
Freaking great interview, but also I get the tiniest sense that Jonathan could really use some rest. I'm sure he (and the whole team) is pushing himself super hard, and doing public-facing stuff when you're going that hard is even more draining. I really hope they can have a half-day or something before launch for the whole staff to get some real rest before the inevitable chaos. Anyway, again, great interview, so stoked.
My goodness, i really hope they expand on PvP. I am so glad they gave us dueling. Hopefully we get some sort of different ways to PvP down the road, it would be amazing even if it was a nightmare to balance / no balance just like poe1

Man... Jonathan and GGG are really a gem for gamers currently. Haven't seen this kind of excitement from devs for years now. Makes me happy!
"look we poured our hearts into this, we really hope and we think you will like it. but if not we are hear to work with you to make both of our dreams come true."
Whereas so far a lot of other dev teams, are like we did this, it's how it's going to be, trust us you going to like it.
Keep on doing what you’re doing man ❤
Glaze? I don't that word means what you think it means...
Hey Tri! You've done an amazing job with those questions.
Thanks for your and Jonathan time! Login in December 6.
Top interview with very nice questions !
Especially that they are unrepeated by others, well done indeed
You made it, baby!
Just couple minutes in and damn, you really took all the criticism of the first interview to grow, it's shocking difference already so keep it up, great work!
I got my early access key email today. It just made me feel proud of being a supporter of POE since release. They actually care about their players.
that was such an amazing interview holy damn! the way you both talked made it incredibly fun to listen/watch. and you just had such a great set of questions ready that was amazing, way to go man
Fantastic interview TT, knocked out the park with this one {as did Jonathan as usual}.
Love the way he connects with players. This game is going to be huge. Cannot wait.
This interview was very good and you had such good questions!
As always, GOAT devs, GOAT game.
New rare mobs system is kinda unreal, how are they still one-upping themselves.
Thanks for your work Tri, amazing content.
So absolutely proud of these legends from my home creating such a great game
Thank you for your honest and enthusiastic coverage of something you love! New to the community but I am loving this channel!
Not being able to remove socketables is such a bold decision, and I'm so thankful they've designed the system this way. It turns a god-tier item or god-tier Soul Core into a jackpot with a question mark at the end of it. Really excited for the kinds of itemization decisions this will present.
It's great that PoE 2 should be on Nvidia Geoforce Now on day 1, thanks for asking this quesiton, let's hope it will be there.
Great stuff dude! Love your energy. Jonathan is also such a cool dev, you can tell he really loves his game!
incredible work tri!
Exclusive scoop! Great question dude!
Great interview, very good questions. I enjoyed this interview the most. Good work man.
The fact that GGG is obsessed with continuing to improve, and get better and never settling with their success, is admirable in today's age of game development.
Jonathan is so passionate about the project that he wants to talk about it with every person possible.
Solid interview! You’ve earned yourself a subscriber 😁
I love that theres still developers out there who want to put out the best product possible and aren't controlled by investors.
I haven’t played in over 5 years, and I got my invite yesterday. It made me look at what’s happening, and I will be joining.
Great interview well done!
Tri climbed through shear good vibes and humility. It is great to see this attributes being rewarded!
Nice interview!
Is there any proof Talkative Tri is an actual human? Dude came out of nowhere and has the most AI-like behavior
Great interview.
The Tri-zzler back at it again, good job bro
I might have commented on the way you hosted your first interview, and i'm happy to see that you have made huge improvements. Keep it up and thank you for listening to the feedback !
I wish nothing but great things for Jonathan and all of GGG. Honestly they just are pillars above every single developer from just their clarity and honesty alone.
Also subbed, fantastic interview and hope you continue to grow Tri!
Extremely well-prepared interview!
Anyway, again, great interview, so stoked.
great interview my guy
very nice interview! you improved a lot since the last one! thank you for your work :)
Thanks Tri. As always, awesome work there!
Nice interview Tri. This time you did not interrupt and talk over your guest and it went quite good. Thanks for this content!
Loved to hear that about runewords honestly, it affirmed my intuition about them as a non-OG D2 player
My goodness, i really hope they expand on PvP. I am so glad they gave us dueling. Hopefully we get some sort of different ways to PvP down the road, it would be amazing even if it was a nightmare to balance / no balance just like poe1
I feel blessed we have a god tier developer like Jonathan Rogers.
