- My first attempt at DCS, and I jumped back into the F-16 airshow demonstration profile. A lot of learning paired with some shenanigans. If you’d like a video diving deeper into the demo profile and how it’s flown, let me know in the comment section.

For not doing the demo profile in five years that wasn't bad at all Rain! Can't wait to see you dogfighting Mover & Gonky in the future and heck maybe Hasard.
Haha! I’ll be honest, after the taxiing…all bets were off.
@@AfterburnPodcast Haha, this makes up for not seeing you perform at Oshkosh a few years ago. When Can we get RaZZ on the podcast? I know he's pretty busy at the moment but you should reach out to him. Him & Carter Pals are both from my state so it's very special having them on demo teams. I didn't ever expect anyone from Iowa to be a demo pilot but im thankful for it as the first F22 demo I saw was him at his hometown show and I would consider him & the F22 demo family. And also Carter Pals from the Viper demo team.
1. on the DCS main screen select "replay"
2. click on the replay for this air show
3. when it loads up and you see your cockpit, enter the F10 map
4. find the airbase that you flew this show at and zoom in on it
5. press CTRL+F11 and you will be looking down at the airbase
6. use the numpad to look around and * or / to move forward and back until you are "standing" in a position that is looking at the runway
7. look around and find your jet taxiing onto the runway and get it centred on the screen and hit . (period) on the numpad and the camera will slew and lock to your jet
8. as you carry out the airshow press right CTRL+ * or / to zoom in and out
9. enjoy a point of view from a person standing on the airfield of your airshow maybe even record it.
Three words: Dream come true!
As a DCS guy involved in virtual air shows, I’ve been waiting for you to get aboard the Viper and rock the demo one more time. I’ll have you know that you’re a big reason that this team and my friends at the Virtual Viper Demo Team (check them out!) are on the sim stage flying in tribute to teams like the one you flew with. Great flying, Rain! SEND IT!!! 🇺🇸

MORE POWER! 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
YEAH! Hope you get to borrow/steal a Pimax Crystal VR headset to experience DCS in its true glory.
Eh Quest 3 is great too
Awesome video man, please do more DCS stuff!
Awesome to see! Have been hoping you would do the demo in DCS for quite some time! Flew my own demo in DCS, mostly going off of your videos. It's so much fun!
If you have the chance to try VR, I highly recommend it. I think it would feel more natural for you.
Cheers from Norway!
Yes, been waiting for this for so long :P
🤘🏻
@@AfterburnPodcast You should Dogfight Growling Sidewinder that would be an awesome video!
I think a lot of us have been patiently waiting for this one
Impressive, very nice. Let's see BMS's F-16.
Happy to see DCS content! Loved the demo run! Thanks for sharing!
Absolutely awesome video. I love the insider look at the demo profile. Welcome to one of the most fun and addicting hobbies around! 🤘
Nice flying! Now try Falcon BMS and do the same. Tell us the difference!
I have been waiting for this moment. 👍 I hope you consider flying the "Gamblers Campaign" at some point. 🙂
It’s up next 🤙🏻
Awesome video, Rain! Would love to see a more in-depth video about the demo profile.
🤘🏻
Awesome! Glad to see you taking the dive into DCS. Looking forward to more content!
Well done Rain! We’d love to have you 🇺🇸
It's really something that an experienced pilot can jump into DCS and perform so well. A testament to how good DCS is. I guess the pilot isn't too bad as well ;)
Super cool to see you talk through the Demo Profile. Excellent video. I'm sure this is probably foreign to you using TrackIR, but look up some videos on setting up TrackIR and play with the settings, you'll be able to make it feel much more intuitive and natural(relative to flying in DCS, obviously you are used to 1:1 head movement in the real jet)
Definitely requires a bit to get used to
@@AfterburnPodcast 100% I might be able to email you my TrackIR profile. I've been using it for almost 2 years (not a real pilot IRL...yet) but it's fairly intuitive once you have the axis curves adjusted to your liking in the software. But having that centering button is crucial to reset your natural head position.
I Picked this campaign up, its great. Made it through the first mission. I really loved mission 1 flying inbound and the little scare at the end while trying to land 😉.
DCS is sick! I'd love to see more DCS from you.
From your perspective are the DCS F16 flight characteristics off a bit since you said a couple times things were happening slower than in real life?
The game definitely seems slower to me after watching your real life demos.
Surprisingly close. The takeoff in a clean config has a delayed rotation and I think my roll sensitivity needs some tweaking but other than that pretty spot on.
@@AfterburnPodcast Awesome footage ! I have to ask . the reposition after " shark thooth " is dangerous ? i see not many pilot to that in real life , when you descend 90 " from 4000 ft and right after a rolling with breaks to slow down for the next high alpha pass . that manoeuvre impress me everytime :))
@@AfterburnPodcast The roll being inaccurate is actually a well known issue in the community but sadly the developer hasn't fixed it. Falcon BMS' flight model is more accurate!
This was great!!! Would love to see more of this in the future!
Nice. I was stationed at Shaw in the early 00s. I learned that demo pretty well sitting out on the flightline. They loved getting real low. Below the area lighting low coming from over the squadrons. 😂 they made everyone drop down once or twice. For your hot as stick, put some curve in it. It'll help with smaller movements. I use about 26 curve pitch and roll.
Awesome stuff rain saw you in Cleveland 2018 doing the viper demo awesome stuff
Fun show! Had a blast ripping around CLE
@@AfterburnPodcast best f-16 pilot ever thank you for your service Merica 🇺🇸
Great video Rain, thanks! Very entertaining. Would love to see you trying the Gamblers campaign!
Pilot doing piloting stuff in DCS, perfect
Wow man! Very awesome! Many thanks for sharing this with us 👏👏👏🍻
Finally!!!!
Love the gamblers campaign too !! So authentic, hate how so many are like "video games" with low level entry, million sams, toss bomb , intercepted on way out etc might be more "exciting" to some people, but found the immersion of real world procedures way more engaging... except that damn manpad on the show of force hahah
looks like you need a few adjustments to your curves. Awesome demo
That was an awesome video Rain, very interesting. Would love a video going in depth into the demo profile. Did you have to watch any videos to jog your memory to fly the demo after 6 years or did it all just come back to you?
Ripped the bandaid off and just had to send it. For an in depth one I’ll definitely have to review a thing or two. Haha
Do it in VR and you'll feel right at home.
Nice flying dude.
Nice video!😃
The gear is awesome! 🤘🏻
this is so good. tx Sir
You need to do some VR.
would love to see the same demo in BMS
GUNGHO! Good stuff😄
Loved it 💪
Enjoyed the video I got a kick out of listening to you scold your self. I bet you have spent a little time tighten it up. Thank you for all the good content you put out.
@2:15 made me lol
Sure is impressive seeing a real pilot flying the viper... The Gamblers campaign is great, the best for F16 Viper among Red Flag and The Weasels Over Syria. You should try DCS with VR and let us know your thoughts about it! ✌🏽
dang how did I miss this on day 1
I've waited for this day since your started YT
I learned the demo from your cockpit vids awhile back!

You gotta play BMS
Awesome footage ! I have to ask . the reposition after " shark thooth " is dangerous ? i see not many pilot to that in real life , when you descend 90 " from 4000 ft and right after a rolling with breaks to slow down for the next high alpha pass . that manoeuvre impress me everytime :))
Pimax need to provide you with Crystal Light. It would be about a million times better.
I don’t know if you got the force sensing stick or the normal stick, but if it’s force sensing, it might help tuning down the stick force if you’re playing on a desktop. Looks like you didn’t actually max out the roll “travel” and that’s why you got sloppy rolls.
I’ll have to sort it out for sure. That triple “roll” 🤢
You have to try VR. It is completely different.
BTW Rain, did you considered doing some virtual flying with Mover? I know getting schedules match is like winning a lottery, but still ....
Wait until you try it in VR.
neato
Hey Rain, are you using the tobi eye tracker?
That roll rate was very slow. Were you in CAT III?
Good question, but cat I. Have to do a little refining on my calibration
Oh I se you've taken next step into simming sir. Very nicely done, esp when this 'pants feel' is lacking from rl flying. I hope you liked the experience.
BTW as mentioned below there's another F-16 (and recently F-15C) sim that you might be interested in: Falcon BMS. Mover has tried it recently and he liked how Mighty Viper is flying there.
Would be cool to see your opinion if you'll ever find spare moment to try it. Also it would be great opportunity to settle heated 'Knife Edge pass' debate, because you, sir and Mace are two most competent persons I can think of to make a judge.
Hi, I am building a full f-16 cockpit and need the Wining ICP i am currently saving up for the Orion 2 Viper hotas.
Im 16 so i dont have a lot of money to spend on Simulators the giveaway would really help me out. 🎉🎉
Please check out Falcon BMS and let us know what you think
WHAT? NO BMS CULT COMMENTS?!
I gotcha right here, sweet heart.
