The stars on those villager shields correspond to the level of trust you need to have for them to join you. 1 star = associate, 2 stars = friend, 3 stars = protector. Also, if you do Mona's chicken quest, you can opt to have the beggar you find at the end join your group (If you want a beggar). I usually have enough renown after doing all those first quests in Hearndean to hire an associate-level villager.
Nice. I thought that cave was empty...after you dispatched the wolves. Your companions can suffer one injury or death from an initial foe. After that the death is permanent if he dies while not fully healed from the first encounter. So if he faces 2 wolves and kills the first one (and gets injured) but the second wolf kills him before he heals from the first wolf -- which he won't be able to do that quickly-- he will be lost forever (as far as I understand the mechanic). There is a switch on your companions when you look at them...one is Reserve, the other is Stand Ground...disable Stand Ground so he can try to run away. That's what I've been told, anyway.
Oh and the chicken quest gets you another free villager to join you.
Nice to know thanks

That's great info, thanks for the heads up on the stars! The new update has provided a lot of new things
The books on the ground were the quest reward. Your inventory was full, so you dropped them.
Ah yes, inventory is my bane! Need more of it
Great video, thank you for all the help!
NP hoping the videos are helping
Ive now bought the game! Still watching your vids as I enjoy watching plus helps learn. Will probably build near the town 1st time out.
Good call! That's where I built my first base. Its the safest place and plenty of room to expand there.
The new books you found on the ground were a quest reward you got but inventory was full so dropped them
Ahh true thanks, only thing I hate the low inventory oh and the expensive travel signs!
@@WombatGaming I use the larger inventory mod on Nexus Mods.
Just discoverd the game recently been loving it
Its a great game, I've put just few hours into it. 300hrs later lol
If you can't see the town marker or tell where a quest is in town, zoom in on the map and it will separate them more. :)
Awesome thanks Kristi

Good idea about that companion mechanic, thanks for the tip!
Love this game, and people thought it wouldn't last a month!
Its getting better that's for sure
The game great so far, played for 32 hours, on Tier 2 which does take long to get everything but its worth it.
@50:50 the quest availiable that you cant click on is the place you have to earn trust level, it sucks how they do that.
Thanks yes that had me confused
So far we're doing a good job, don't you think? 😂😂😂
Do berries and mushrooms deteriorate in storage?
Yes all food types will deteriorate, the cellar will be slower. Or you can adjust to setting for food in the options.
