“If it wasn’t for those Tennessee boys all going down there and messing with those Mexican girls, there wouldn’t be any Texans.” Gimme a T for Texas and a T for Tennessee. There was more to it than that, of course, but a lot of the American settlers of Texas were originally from the state of Tennessee. Indeed, many Texans may not know that Sam Houston was the Governor of Tennessee for a few years before he moved to Texas. Tennessee loves Texas. When the Mexican War broke out over a border dispute between the newly-minted State of Texas and Mexico, the U.S. government called for volunteers to join the army and fight the Mexicans. They asked for 3,000 troops from Tennessee, and over 30,000 volunteered to serve, largely because they recognized the ties between the two states. This is why the State of Tennessee, to this day, is called the “Volunteer State,” all because of Texas.

Our family lived north of Dallas in the Richardson and Plano areas 1966 to 1977. I'll call that period the 'good old days' in Texas. Went back recently to visit my brother. His little farm town (McKinney) was now just part of the DFW Metroplex. 24 hour traffic, brown haze in the air, and millions more people and thousands of acres of Texas mini-mansions where folks stay inside out of the heat. Sad. Not going back.
We are in that area. That whole area of Richardson, Plano, Allen, McKinney, Frisco is just crazy. So many people. It has really blown up in just the past few years, people moving here from all over the place, lots from out of the country too. It was once a pleasant place but now we can't even maneuver around just to go out shopping or out to eat. The traffic is horrible all day long, and during rush hour it is a nightmare. We are just waiting to become empty nesters and we will move away. We are native Texans (although not from this part of the state). There really are not a lot of native Texans in this area now. I don't consider it "real" Texas.

I’m born and reared in Texas when I was younger. San Antonio. My folks used to take me regularly to the rodeo for weekend trips. We’d camp out -old fashioned style, my folks would sleep on the metal cots the ground. ( I always worried about them being so close to the ground and I definitely knew about the rattlesnakes). They would put me in the trunk of the car for my bed, trunk lid held up by a broom stick. My little baby sister would sleep on the back seat. But mostly I remember the rodeo clowns really scared me. It was terrifying to my innocent child self. Those clowns jump up on the side of the cages that the broncos and bulls are held in before they are released. And then they shake or rattle the cages to upset the animals before they are released into the ring where the cowboys try to stay on their backs. The idea is that the clowns are supposed to upset and infuriate the animals so they once tgey are released and the cowboys are bucked off they will quickly attack the clowns therefore keeping the cowboys safer. But it really terrified me. I was afraid of clowns when I was very small. It is kinda creepy if you think about it. Adult men dressed up in anonymous costumes. 🤡🤠🤡😂

F those idiots commenting as a reaction from the butt hurt crybaby guy who is too lazy to film his own footage. You're better than all that noise, and I hope it blows over reasonably soon.
Haven't found the perfect place to live yet, but your channel is helping me hone in! I bid you good day sir!
shut up
NC!
Nobody stole his footage. He is a liar lmao
Nick is the man
There is no place in America that hasn’t gone to shit.🤔
Democratic Party is trying real hard to Destroy our entire Country one State at a time
Sad isn't it? They continue to ruin it
End of the Empire.
That's the plan.

The social commentary sure is welcomed. Thanks Nick
You are cool brother this country is almost safe and good 👍
It makes perfect sense, when you realize it's all being done by design.
I remember San Antonio from my USAF schools back in 1980. The Alamo was in the middle of a slum.
Nick, you have really done it this time.
You done did the yonder over Texas and you are one smoothie muttonchops.
My 😂 crying of laughter, really smooth Nick, really smooth,
Cheers 🍺
Hey Nick! Why bashing on Tesla? The most American built car, built by Americans, run on American electricity (or sunshine).
Yep, that’s just how the weather is here in October!
My oldest son always gets his fill of Whataburger when he comes to visit!😁
Thanks Nick, your multi-part adventures are Cool
You missed lots of places between Waco and Houston - Calvert TX, College Station, TX - Home of Texas A & M & George Bush Library, Navasota, TX - Home of Chuck Norris and C-Force Water and a cute little town, The Ren Fest would of been going on in Todd Mission, TX, Washington on the Brazos, the birth place of TX, Brenham, TX - the home of Blue Bell Ice Cream!
Leave Mappy alone. He speaks the truth
I love your Southern accent impression with Mappy despite of you being from Southern CA. 😅
Actually I think he's originally from the Midwest somewhere but no matter, there's plenty of twangy speech in SoCal.
@@alexcarter8807i think he is from North Carolina :) or identifies as such. But I think he grew up in Southern California, I think
If you guys watch his previous videos, he grew up and went to school in San Bernardino, CA.
Man I have to tell you, you say the funniest crap. I love your commentary. You also say some real stuff that many need to hear. I’m really glad I found your channel
Mahalo Nick for another entertaining adventure! It was over before we realized that much time had gone by…
Aww ok Terry!
There are superior spangle timers there on the valley hinges. You must three trip on the seemingly scar reissue tube and then make a line scrawl over the spring reeks to get over it. There can be a bump on the spring tumble but only for a toe slap.
Excellent, excellent work, Mr. Nick! Good lord I'm so grateful that I stumbled upon your channel a year ago - it inspired me to make my own road trip across America recently, and to get off the highway and take the time to see this beautiful country that we all share. And also to gain a little perspective. Many thanks for your work, screw UA-cam drama, and please, pretty please, keep on making content that inspires us/makes us all dream of doing the same thing that you're doing! PS your manager deserves a raise 🙂
Aww ok Tyler ☀️🚗🚙🚗🚓
Thanks Nick for your videos. I have been thinking about moving and your videos help me.
i went to cadillac ran on the way home after the eclipse. it had rained so it was submerged. saw an old man take his boots off and drudge through the mud to paint stuff. people painted on the ground since they didnt want to get their shoes wet lol
more dive bars please ! i have been watching your videos for a long time now from Holland, i love it my wife is from North Carolina, she always get home sick watching your videos, we do like your fun videos more then the slum ones ! thanks !
There's also TRUMP Burger in Bellville which is actually pretty good. It's about an hour NW of Houston and worth the drive. FKH and tampon Tim.
Fort Worth is the best big city in Texas. The Stockyards is a must see!
Great footage Nick. You're the real deal.
Claire and Parker!
You have the right to be among your own on your own country. Wake up now
🙋🏼♂️
Omg! We do too recycle in Texas! There aren’t a lot of receptacles everywhere, but if you want to recycle it’s available.
Nick you must have a treasure trove of material back logged based on this new video from a year ago. Thank you for what you do, your content is always quality material 👌
I'm glad you enjoy it!
I have to keep the washrooms at the Chevron station super clean.
I assure you I am not paid well.
Love your Travels so incredibly relaxing & intertaing. Texan (Dallas) now retired in Philippines also Utah...😂
HELLO NICK FROM ALBANIA.
come visit beautiful texas
@@MrBeas_Cousin HELLO VERY THANK S FROM YOU AND COME YOU VISIT BEAUTIFUL ALBANIA.RESPECT FOR YOU.
Sir our Mexican population are a blend of their culture and our industrial culture. They build but they don't care about everything being perfect, it's the same here in Dallas. We have got so many badly built expensive homes with beer bottles in the walls it's not even funny.
😃
2:20 hahaha welcome to austin
Just saw your video. Thanks for being reasonable. I was quick to judge
