I escaped Illinois 17yrs ago to Wisconsin. Everyone is so nice.
not for much longer. wisconsin is slowly turning into illinois.
@@donphillips4492 say what you want about Illinois! I’ve been there. And no matter how good or bad they maybe! They still aren’t half as bad as Oregon. There maybe ups & downs with Illinois! But just like other States I’ve been already! At least they aren’t outlawing way too many stuff that is important & making into law way too much stuff that is wrong like they do in Oregon.
@@k7j6 yeah you can shoot someone in illiinois and be out of jail that day. they blame cops for shooting a guy who hoots the cop and then gives that POS family mllions of tax payers dollars. i dont know anything about oregon except for the hell hole of portland run by Socialist scum. isnt oregon the land of sovereign citizens or is that idaho?? I would never want to live in a socialist city/state and ill be moving as soon as possible. im a teamster so i cant move yet unfortunately. couple years thankfully
Wisconsin's vibe is so much better from April-October
I understand that the mosquito is their state bird! 😅
@glennso47 not really. We never use sprays unless we go into the woods to camp. Then again Permethrin keeps them away 100%. So no mosquito worries here at all.
Not surprised. Lots of people with north european heritage in Wisconsin, meaning hard working, honest, quiet, love order and care for the enviroment and their fellow man…
Yeah my great great grandparents migrated from Norway to Eau Claire
North Euro heritage... mostly Germans. We've called the Northwoods area New Illinois and Old Chicago for decades!
Almost every Latvian I've met in Latvia who came back from America was living in Wisconsin. I think it's the similar climate that draws them to Wisconsin more than anything.
When I was at a casino up there I got a sample of the way they talk up their it really surprised me they have such an accent.
It's weird how you people cant wait to get out of Illinois.
Any millionaire in Wisconsin is probably a plumbing business owner who still works with his hands directly, or an electrician who is extremely frugal, or a carpenter or welder who saved up just as much. Knowing how down-to-earth and practical Wisconsinites are, they probably are just that frugal and responsible.
Edit: 157 likes?! Mom, I'm famous! Thank you so much, everyone! And special thanks to Nick for the video! ❤️
Every millionaire I know personally here is a plumber, electrician or electrical lineman.
No. But close;) He owns Menards, a building supply chain open to the public. The richest woman is the owner of ABC an industrial construction materials wholesaler. (I think…)
I've also been told that many millionaires have been created at the paper mills in town over the years as well.
I think the richest woman is the creator of epic a medical software company
No, Wisconsin is paper mills.
We have a lot of German heritage here. Helps with the beer drinking.
It's only for whites
No road rage or gun violence??? Does hyper alcoholism lead to domestic violence??
What about the food , does it have High percentage of toxic pesticides or chemicals ?? I can clearly see a ton of use of plastic in supermarket.
A friend of mine who recently moved to USA told me his diabetes number goes up when he is in the USA ,even though he walks a lot there, but (number) gets reduced whenever he comes back to india for holidays, so there's something wrong with food, crops ??
@fact-o-pedio4603 We do have a high percentage of domestic violence and other alcohol related crimes. We are one state with a high percentage of overweight people. I'm not sure how to answer your friends experience, I can say that our diet here is more meat and potatoes and of course dairy(cheese). Add in our long winters, it's clear to see why we have the issues we have. God bless
My home, Wisconsin is a special place, it’s one of the best states to live in, if you don’t mind the 6 months of bad weather
9 months to me😊
We're like The Hobbits of U.S.
I live in Cleveland Ohio and three months of Cold weather and three months of questionable weather is bad enough!!!.
Wisconsin is very relaxed and it seems people here have good common sense and are not all about bullshit, we are the most real.
@@dacrosberdoesn't really affect normal people.
As a F.I.B., Wisconsin is my favorite state. Nothing beats summer in Wisconsin. Keep up the good work, Nick.

What about the winters? How do you stay happy without the warm sunshine?
@@randomexploring541vodka.
We are having a friendly Church up there; we love Christ. We have fellowship in the churches.
As a F.I.B. who went to high school in Southeast Wisconsin, it's a very underrated state. Natural beauty with friendly people, Spotted Cow, and Woodmans. Heck, I'm going shopping there tomorrow.
Born and raised in Wisconsin. You definitely didn’t get the true Supper Club experience. The best are in the North Woods, usually in the middle of nowhere and by a lake. And I’m talking the old ones, not the new, aimed toward the fibs ones. A good old solid supper club with locals.
Yes, and really in any small town. Also, depends on the day of the week that you go.
You didn't go to a supper club. You went to the Union Hotel, one of the best and probably most expensive restaurants in the area. Also, Lambeau field is NOT 100 years old. It opened in 1957. The old City Stadium was and is now the East High School football field. Probably should have spent less time subtlety sneering at the area and its alcohol use and more time doing some actual prep work to get your facts straight.

Green Bay is my hometown. Circumstances have led me into south Illinois, but Green Bay is home, and I'll be back there someday. Thanks for the respect to my city.
Southern Illinois is beautiful too. I've got Family in Carbondale and Cobdem, it's such a beautiful visit!
We'll be ready for you when you are!
I"m the opposite lol i moved from southern illinois to just north of Green Bay. I love it up here
As a Green Bay native, you had me chuckling throughout this video. I love my hometown and being deployed for 10 months really makes me miss it. It's not a "hip" town, and most jobs aren't going to make you rich, but it's a nice place to live and raise a family.
I love that Green Bay is not a hip town. Those places are sh!t holes these days. I’m glad to see a large metro area that still maintains good wholesome values. They can keep that hip stuff in California lol
Wisconsin is truly a special and beautiful place
Anything mostly White is.
It has been the warmest winter in Wisconsin I've ever seen. Not a good year to base weather on for us.

Soooo close! Congrats! You’ve earned every single one of us (and the Mrs) 💞
Central Wisconsin and we're getting snow now..haven't had any all winter 😂
My parents are near Lake Michigan. No school, and snow! We had a tornado watch, and storms here in the south.

A few inches of snow in Marshfield yesterday into today - it’s already 🫠 melting!🤣

God bless the great state of Wisconsin! The woman who said they have morals, that’s what makes a great city. Very rare.
As a lifelong resident(nearly 50 years)of Green Bay, you did a fine job of showing the vibe of our town. I'm glad I stuck around, sometimes the grass isn't greener on the other side. I made the right bet. I really do love my city!
Wisconsin is definitely top 5 fav states for me! The food, the beer, the people-amazing! Great vid, Nick!
That's right honey
yeah like california. you have to have 5 million just to get by.

Let's hope Green Bay stays nice like this.. 🤞🏻
Green Bay has to be very careful as to not price the middle class out.
They have to closely monitor real estate prices and rental prices.
They also are very lucky to be located in a very cold weather area.
There’s nothing better to control rapid growth than extremely cold winters and short summers.👍
Its not that cold and summers are 7 months
@user-df2mn5bx2q what are you talking about? Summers aren’t 7 months, they just got dumped on with snow and it’s April lol. It’s cold from October through April and you see snow commonly in each of those months. Summer is consistent from about early June through early September so 3 months, lol
@@user-df2mn5bx2q It’s April 3rd, well into Spring, and we just had a half-foot of snow with low temps below freezing. “Summer” weather in a maximally “hot” year could be May through September so I’d liberally give a ceiling of 5 months of Wisconsin “summer” temperatures - usually it’s cooler some parts of those 150 days - but the summer here are typically beautiful overall. And this was the mildest winter on recent record we’ve ever had per all the meteorological records.
@@user-df2mn5bx2qNope. Nope. Summer 3 months.

People don’t understand, Green Bay is basically a small town in the middle of nowhere
That’s how most of Wisconsin is
117,000 in the city...2.1 million in the fox valley..about 25 miles from Green Bay to Appleton..( it's not Detroit!)..
I'm from a small town and live in Green Bay and I don't get those vibes at all honestly.
I❤cold weather places
Keeps the sh t heads away😂
What does it make me a native Illinoisan now living in Florida?
@@ScorpioBornIn69fed up
Not all cold places, lol. It's all about culture, morals, and good policies/leadership. For example, Alaska is considered the most dangerous state of America, Last time I checked. It is unfortunate how far most of America has fallen but hopefully we can hold on to the good places we have left (and fix the culture and leadership in the many places that have fallen to a not caring society)

If you like 4 seasons then it’s Heaven instead of Hell.
@@Ian_L1994 The weather in this state is not as severe as you think, it can be worse. Google the weather in Russia (Yakutia) and you will understand that Wisconsin is heaven and not hell.
It does seem nice there in GreenBay, I like it! 👍
Its great to see different places the homes etc thank you 😊
Wisconsin does dairy❤The Best in the US
The one upside of cold AF weather--it's an effective repellant against homeless people.
Love this reason about winters!! Thank you!!
And mosquitoes, no see-ums, huge cock roaches and flies. Also snakes, geckos and armadillos. Cleaner.
Born and raised in Wisconsin. Still a resident. I'm 35. I live in Fond du Lac, a little over an hour away from Green Bay. Although I'm not even a fan of the long winters here, the absolutely beautiful springs/summers make up for it!! Oh, and the CHEEEEESE! 🤤
Another not so well known feature is the National Railroad Museum. Not a lot of rolling stock but, they do have one of 8 Big Boys left out of 25 built. Impressive engine.
Thanks for another well produced video.
Mappe's looking dapper and classy..sporting that Lions hat!💙
You do a great job with these Nick. Thank you.
Thanks Nick!!!
Broadway used to even have more bars. There used to be the "Broadway Challenge" where you'd try to drink one beer in every bar from one end of Broadway to the other. Broadway has cleaned up its act a lot in the last 40 years.
Tried to have 1 beer in every bar on Broadway in my college years (70's). Couldn't do it.
😂facts
We used to call them death marches. Also Main St was a great place to try your luck.
Lived in Green Bay now (including downtown) for 5 years can say the winters are brutal but if you can just get to the other 3 seasons it is great!
Wow. I also just noticed that you are closing in on one meeellion subs. That is incredible!
What a wonderful town. I love this video!😊❤
Your awesome Nick you kicked butt on this one!!!! I live in Milwaukee WI drummer singer from starlight riot.
I was just there darnit!
Ok. I'm in Green Bay right now, watching this. On Oneida St down 1.5 miles from the stadium. And I was just eating cheese curds... different brand though - Malcore's (which always need xtra salt). I'm friends with all my surrounding neighbors (some more than others). You gotta know where to go on any given night out... Years ago, Broadway (on the west side) was the biggest bar/nightlife scene... but it was gentrified starting in the late 90s, and is now mostly shops and restaurants. On weekend nights, go to Washington St and parts of Main St, and parts of Ashwaubenon and Main St in DePere.
As a native Wisconsinite I can attest it is a great state! Just get rid of Milwaukee & Madison & we're all set 😎
Ya notice
In usa
Nearly every state has a large city dragging it down
Ruining it
Pennsylvania philadelphia
Michigan detroit
Illinois Chicago
Etc etc
Good stuff
I've been to WI only once in 2018 for an event in Milwaukee. Dang though, everyone was friendlier than every place I had been to in the previous 10 years. I loved it just for the natural charm and the fact people act human towards one another. I know that is a low bar, but Wisconsinites are special in their humane presentation and stereotypically Canadian-like politeness.
You're right, literally everyone is nice here and I'm never leaving
We moved to Green Bay from the West Coast and we absolutely love it! What a wonderful city! Midwest is the best!
A+ video!
Awesome preview and tour of Green Bay!
Mappy is awesome....he tells it as it is...no BS!!
Milwaukee I would say is effortlessly cool, amazing old-World architecture. Also love the unglaciated Driftless region of western WI ( also stretching well into Minnesota, Iowa and Illinois). My wife called Appalachia like the Driftless region on steroids.
You should check out Doc's Harley-Davidson in Bonduel, WI. You won't be disappointed.
I live in Chicago and someday I will live in Wisconsin, When I see that sign Welcome to Wisconsin My blood pressure drops, I love fishing in the Northwood's' and watching race's at Road America and I love the demographics.
I'm from Chicago, and live in Wisconsin!I'm so happy we ended up living out here.
I'm from Chicago also & moved to Wisconsin 3 years ago & absolutely love it 💚💛💚💛
I’m from Minnesota and as soon as I cross the bridge into the land of small town bars and cheese curds I totally relax..

Great way for showcasing your service! Thanks for sharing!
There's so much more to Green Bay that's what's shown here, but still an outstanding video. We certainly don't have a big homeless problem like you show in other videos, but what was shown here is pretty accurate. However, you would have seen them line up that evening at Saint John's Homeless Shelter in the hours before six on those nights you were here.
If you come to Milwaukee I can show you around been here a long time
Ok Dave!
You should visit Manitowoc, Wisconsin!

I haven't seen one from your channel. :( I would love to see you upload one! :)

Thanks for sharing this 😊
I used to live north in the upper peninsula a lot of times it's boring up there but a lot of pretty scenery especially in the upper peninsula of Michigan. I love the piney smell up north; some call it God's country.
Madison WI is one of my favorite cities. The people are nice and friendly. Great neighborhoods and has that beautiful lake. I will definitely visit again.
Same here
Madison isn't nearly as good as it used to be. Too many kids now getting free school lunch. Machete attack a few months back... shootings, which almost never happened back in 80s and 90s... usual suspects.
It's always been progressive but the city government today is woke as fuck. I think they're jealous of Milwaukee.
Into woke are we?
Madison’s a LOT more “liberal” and lefty leaning than Green Bay which is further north into real farm country and Northwoods. Madison’s a nice 21st century, aesthetic and culturally diverse city though. Depending on what one likes culturally.
Which lake? There's 4 of them
We also have hamburger days in Seymour a small town about a half hour away from Green Bay! Such a fun time going to the parade and of course, drinking a little bit and games and good times for the kids!
I’m a huge fan of your channel!!!
Nice job describing GB Nick! I'm a born and bred proud wisconsinite and you hit on a lot of true topics. I had to laugh at a few things that caught you off guard like the liquor store in a grocery store, a ginormous cheese section and the crown royal soap dispenser. Lolol all so very wisconsin. I hope you come back to visit us again!! It's a great place to live, work and visit.
We are a proud Wisconsinites here!!! Thanks for making content about what we loved! Go packers! And go Nick!❤🎉
As usual, great video Nick. Wisconsin is a really nice state. Born and raised there. Don't live there anymore but love to visit.
Great job Nick. I’m still sorry your trip didn’t include Appleton , it’s another hidden gem in the fox river valley. I see you found the fence on Lombardi avenue, and had an old fashioned, like we discussed. Looking forward to the rest of the Great Lakes trip videos.

Woodman's is employee owned.
There's a great coffee scene you totally missed in GB!
Also it definitely seems like you know what you're doing so I'm sure you know all about the Fair Housing Act which has some pretty clear guidelines on talking to specifics on cities/neighborhoods.
Life long Wisconsinite here! Just want to tell you how much i appreciate all the work i know went into this video, Nick. You truly delved into Green Bay and did a great job of capturing the essence of the city and community. I loved your drives through the neighborhoods and the drone footage...awesome! Thanks, Nick. 😊
Ok Jill! ❤️
I used to do customer service for spectrum. People would call in from across the nation and they would often ask me about myself. When they found out I was from Green Bay I’d always make sure to tell them that it’s actually illegal to not be a Packers fan here, and I know of at least 3 people who were arrested for it. The amount of people who believed me was shocking lol
Nick! Glad you could finally tour & review my adopted moved to state for the past 10 years as a transplanted Chicago, Illinoisian Bears fan! You’d be surprised how many of us have moved here. Too bad you didn’t come here for the April Spring Snowstorms!😜🤣

Speaking of the packers, headed there this weekend for a stadium trip. Wisconsin native here.
Correction - Packers have most NFL Titles, not Super Bowls
The Steelers and Patriots have the most Super Bowls but the Steelers got to 6 Super Bowls first
That would be the New England Patriots my friend. 🏈
At least we got more Super Bowl titles than Da Bears.

This winter was way too warm. I was barely able to ice fish down here in southern WI.
Anyways, we moved here about a decade ago. It was the best place for us to earn well and the cost of living is low.
Went to school in Madison 1985….loved it.going back for the reunion but I doubt “ Madtown” is still mad anymore.
Green Bay is a cool place. Spent some time there about 20 years ago. Loved it.
Beautiful State ,💯 Upper Midwest gotta love it baby!💚💚
You got that right!
The secret of Green Bay is it barely has over 100,000 in population. I think everyone was out working when you went to downtown Green Bay on a Wednesday. With having the historical NFL Packers franchise as a charter member/Titletown it gives the “impression” of Green Bay this much larger city - but it’s still got its beauty and small town feel and building/rebuilding into the 21st century holding its own. Did you go to The Sardine Can on a late afternoon or evening? It’ll be busy there! But you gotta go to the bars after hours and on weekends.
Metro area is 300K, which is still small. I only look at the metro area stats, shows the true size of any city.
Good explanation
@Battleneter yeah but Green Bay metro includes parts of oconto county which really has nothing to do with GB at all though either
@@Battleneter True. I was speaking obviously of solely GB’s city limits population, but sure you can metroize its surrounding suburbs like DePere that Nick briefly touched upon among others he didn’t but should have.
@@kylegross1081 Exactly! Kinda the “farm country” Nick briefly touched on.

I grew up in Kenosha. One thing I can say about Wisconsin is that every time I go back I'm struck by how happy and friendly Wisconsinites are. You have to kick one in the teeth to find one in a bad mood.
Down to earth, hardworking, honest to goodness is pretty much what you're going to find just about anywhere in the Cheese State😊
fun fact: Green Bay is the same latitude as Montreal
As culver's says from Wisconsin with love!
It is pretty cool to travel around the Great Lakes and when you say you're from 'Michigan' - they just laugh and make you feel welcome bc they know you're pretty much one of them too. I could name 50 cities very similar to this across the region.
The entertainment district reminds me of the flats here in cleveland.
