Do well to come
@@tundebakare6887 I am with my beautiful sister, friend and lovely wife( naija beauty indeed)
Except on the jollof debate u don’t c eye to eye😂
@jumbam9938 that one because of my wife I accept defeat because my wife's food is the best.
😂😂😂
Cross River is one of the most beautiful state in Nigeria. Rich in culture, amazing sites, calm, peaceful, safe, great food… if you ever visit Nigeria, it is a must visit.
We do have an area in Jamaica called Calabar and Calabar High School named after this Nigerian town. This is really nice.
This made us feel like it was in the Caribbean! We love the connection!
Old Calabar was sadly a port for export of enslaved Africans so maybe some of you might be descended from there.....
True
There is also a city called Abeokuta both in Nigeria and Jamaica
@@akeemsalami1764 Abeokuta in Jamaica lol, I need to know more about that.
Thank you for showing the world the positive parts of Nigeria 🇳🇬 God bless Nigeria will be great again Amen.
We Nigerians love it when you talk about us😂😂😂😂😂
Calabar carnival is the best in Africa one love Nigeria 🇳🇬🇳🇬
Calabar at last 🤠🇳🇬. Cleanest city in Nigeria. Home of culture and tourism.
Uyo is now cleaner than Calabar
@@ubedet Uyo is a learner. It's in Calabar DNA🧬. Moreover Uyo is extension of old Calabar metropolis. If you don't like it go to court 😜
@@uzoejekwumadu7731 I like it.
@@ubedet true. Akwa ibom is now the cleanest state in Nigeria
@@karine-ela there's federal might in Abuja of course, making things happen. You must compare likes for likes in terms of resources available 😁
I'm proudly a Nigerian and from Crossriver state
Finished my first degree from the University of Calabar,Calabar
Calabar is a cool city ❤️
Nigeria is the cultural and entertainment capital of Africa by an absolute mile, so I'm not surprised by this at all. Great vid.
This is so beautiful, Nigerians are really welcoming ❤
Fun fact: Calabar was the first capital of modern Nigeria before it was moved to Lagos, later Abuja in 1991
Not capital of Nigeria but capital of Southern Protectorate from 1885 to 1901, Calabar, then called Oil River Protectorate, i guess there was nothing like Nigeria in 1885.
Calabar was never the capital of Nigerian, but the colonial southern protectorate.
In Nigeria, from the 2nd week of December up until January 5th, it’s party after party.
Finally time for my tribe/state to shine!!!🇳🇬🎊🇳🇬🎉🇳🇬🥳
The energy is always lit. It's round the clock the whole day 🕺💃⏱️ Calabar my Calabar 🇳🇬✊
I have been going since 2008. It the safest street party ever. My favourite carnival group is the sea gull. The Christmas village is where all the food sellers hire a stall to sell their foods and advertised their food businesses. I was there for 2022, I love the town of calabar so much I that I invested and open a guest house there for our diasporas visitors and for anyone else who knows how to have fun! So if coming hook me up to chill at my lodge, with local barbecue, pizza, shawarma, etc.
That's my state, this carnival was strarted long ago in the early 2000s by one of the former governor Mr. Donald duke. The carnival has hosted allot of international musicians like Beyonce, Rhianna and Akon during their hottest years as musicians..
Welcome to one of the world's largest street party carnival "the Calabar carnival"❤️
Big Shout-Out to Niyi Fagbemi for this amazing content. The storyline was on point and the video was crisp as always.
I really appreciate you guys projecting African continent,
Especially Nigeria and its potentials
Nigeria is a country blessed with a beautiful blend of different cultures and traditions. Amazing country, amazing people.
Love, from Nigeria 🇳🇬 ❤
Calabar carnival. Was there in 2014 and it was lit.
I'm hoping to visit calabar soon, especially during Christmas so I can see this carnival. Heard alot about it nd I love it.
You should! We hope we’re able to.
Surprised c
That is a beautiful carnival I’m Ghanaian but my friend is Nigerian and she is from the Calabar tribe. 🇳🇬 This topic never came up in our conversation but I will share this with her and ask her about the carnival. Beautiful African festival I’ve seen.
There is no tribe called calabar in nigeria. They are the efik People
Calabar is the name of the state
@@amandaeguale1641 Are you nigerian. Calabar is not a state. Calabar is a city in the state of cross river
@@amandaeguale1641 cross rivers state. Calabar is the capital
@@chisomnzeh6249 Calabar is not just Efik people but most common are Efik and Ibibio which would make about 70 - 80% of the population, with minority others like Boki, Ejagham, and Yala etc
It's just simple, Nigeria is fully loaded with different wonders. Nigeria The most populated country in Africa, with greatest diversity, and the only country in Africa continent with largest ethnic group. In a book(ethnography of Nigeria), it reveals that Nigeria is made up of different nation, coming together to make a country. Which resulted to the amalgamation of northern and southern protectorate in the year 1914, by Lord lugard. Try and visit Nigeria, and you will see those amazing things for yourself. Different people with different culture living together as a family in a country called Nigeria. You guys even look like Nigerians
I enjoyed calabar when i schooled there for 5years but unfortunately being a home girl ..rather than attend the carnival I'd rather be home ..now I'm wondering what the hell i was thinking doing that 😅😅😅😂😂
No party like 9ja party, no December like 9ja December 🎉
Ayyee llol
My mom's from Calabar nd i went with her one time to the carnival believe me when i tell you it was 🔥🔥🔥
From SA, this is rich culture.. Beautiful.. I'd like to attend one oneday

We love and welcome you bro..in Nigeria you'll be home away from home.. every African in Nigeria is called African not foreigner.. one love bro ❤❤❤
Cross River State Is Beautiful and a place to be,Next Akwa Ibom ,Thanks for This Great Reaction.👏👏
Guys, the festival was held last Christmas 2022. It has fully resumed. It was suspended for 2 years 2020, 2021 due to Covid-19
So are you sure it is going to be held this year. Bcs alot of obudu cattle ranch stuffs needs alot of renovation
@@olufunmia8355 Yes they are already planning it. Obudu cattle ranch is not part of the carnival. The event is held in Calabar, Obudu is some 100 kilometers away
Calabar carnival is always lit 🔥♥️
If you go to Akwa-Ibom and Cross River States, you will be amazed at the developments. I couldn't find a slum. Their villages aren't looking like villages
Hmmm...that's a discussion for another day! It's not very prosperous in that area, so you would not find slums! Slums usually develop in proximity of successful neighborhoods. As a matter of fact, thyat's my major grouse with the state governments of Cross Rivers and Akwa Ibom - so much that can be done, but is not being done!
Those Cross River and Akwa Ibom states are silent humble people who develop their region quietly while they watch the rest of Nigeria complaining and doing nothing to develop their villages, towns and cities
@@Sabigalriri I wonder at your answer! Please, what is developed about these two states? If you respond, then I will break down the information for you!
@@AlexisOnomeEgborge It is a developing area please and not already developed, it is a process
@@AlexisOnomeEgborge Atleast more developed than your state except you're from Lagos state or the FCT
🇳🇬🇳🇬🇳🇬🇳🇬🧡🧡🧡 Calabar my second home thank you for reacting
You’re welcome.
Oh wow Zambia representing the song in the beginning of the background by sampa the great♥️
This is beyond stunning
We agree.
The Calamba’s are very colorful people.Their food is one of the best in Nigeria.Their culture is even more beautiful.
'they all go back to their respective...' he was referring to the Christmas Village, which is put together for the carnival period. After the carnival end, so does the Christmas village, till it opens again at the next carnival. So, for all the vendors, it's a temporary, carnival village.
I was there. And I witnessed the whole event from start to finish
Calabar carnival is lit.... I attended high school in Calabar. Its a much chill and relaxed place with beautiful sceneries.
There's direct flight now from Lagos to Calabar via Ibom Air
This is my state of origin, come visit you will love it.
I participated!! Was one of the frontline girls
This is Calabar carnival in Nigeria every December from 1st December to 30th December
Finally?.. Wow !!! I have been anticipating to watch this, thanks for your awesome reactions and permit me to quote you guys " who would've knew?"
😂 yes, use it
Am so surprised Africa got carnival I feel like booking a flight for a week stay
This is how we felt!!!! We loved seeing the unity!
...in December, yes! Absolute fun!
Thank you for doing this you guys are so beautiful and amazing naija to the world
December is holiday in calabar. Approved by the government
I attended the very first carnival in 2004. it was simply amazing. Donald Duke was sincerely a visionary.
Wow! You find everything. I'm actually from the region, It's one of the most peaceful places in Nigeria. Fun fact it was the 1st capital of Nigeria. It is rich in culture and history. Alot of European settled here because of the climate in the region, waterfalls protected parks with endangered calabar gorillas. Beautiful and peaceful people and very welcoming, Lots to do and see, very little Is known about the region. It is Nigeria's best kept secret, Went to hillside elementary and my principal was white and she took a liking to me, always had treats for me at her office so I went every day 😊 Fun times and memories of a lifetime.
We couldn’t have known about all of this rich culture without you guys. We see you making your way throughout our Africa playlist. We appreciate your support, fam!
I once participated in Lagos Street Carnival
Africa Is beautiful and diverse
Just save and go this December. I have never been and I am Nigerian and going to the Zurich Festival in July so looking for something for December - I do not know anyone there and just might leave the cold weather of London and go to Nigeria for this. Maybe I can convince some of my friends to go too.
Really, you go to Zurich Swiss festival and not calabar/Nigeria. Mam, you are missing out. Hope we jam there this year 😂 stay safe 🙏🏽
It's always awesome spending your November and December in calabar, Cross River state. ❤❤🎉
I swear it was a culture shock for me when i relocated to the us and i was getting giddy for December thinking its the same as back home in lagos i was so schocked it was so boring ,that was the first time i was ever home sick.
😂😂 That is definitely our winter time. April - July is more of what you were expecting. Still, what we hear it’s nothing compared to an African summer.
Hahaha 😆 Now you understand the reason why everyone wants to go back home for Christmas and flight tx are friggin expensive because they sell out real fast.
As a Nigerian let me just say i have same in Europe and I was dying to go back home for Xmas soo boring
It varies depending on the year, it can be up to 30 countries some years that participate
Africa is majestic!!!!!!!!
Great couple, i love what you are doing God bless you
Africa is a great place to be
Love ❤️from Nigeria 🇳🇬
Great culture and great people. Love it ❤
okay so for reference, so that you understand the costumes. the carnival is divided into elements, so you have earth, fire, water and air. The carnival is actually a competition between the elements and each element actually has Nigerian celebrities who endorse them and actually participate in the event. The blogger is only showing the street walk but the carnival heads to the stadium where the different elements puts on shows for the audience and we vote. it is crazy fun, like they pull up all the stunts.
We call it Detty(dirty) December! December in Nigeria is fireeeee🔥
😃🤗 Yeah ! I saw this video earlier this year and knew about this festival sometime ago. I can't wait to get to Calabar and see this one year. Also what's known as so-called Carnival is Afrikan in origin but had been corrupted some here in the USA, Caribbean and South America i.e. Brazil due to the influence of Europeans. I like how the one in Calabar looks it's more tradition to the roots of how the Afrikan festival suppose to look and be.
Love your analysis of Christmas in America. In Nigeria, it's all about partying from the 2nd week of December till the first week of January. Many cities and businesses actually shut down for the fun. Please come, I love you two.
Much love!

Donald Duke was a really great and social animal kind of Governor. i went to school in university of Calabar. That man did a lot for that state. The cleanest state then, Christmas decoration on the street of Calabar. Then, there's the Obudu ranch. There's this festival that happens every year, that i never went (regrettably) - school stuff.
The stick walkers are part of Nigerian heritage. I know that is part of Igbo traditional dancers. The people of Calabar, too.
Igbos are also invited, but our Calabar brothers and sisters are mainly efik
Yorubas call stick walkers "Agere".
Calabar could actually be a parallel to Accra year of the return, where people can visit Nigeria (AND Ghana). Calabar has unfortunately some historical legacy around the theft of our people from Africa and some interesting colonial references (Lugard... eww, mary slessor) and of course native indigenous draws. It is also unanimously agreed the cleanest and most hospitable of all our regions! For what it is worth a lot of Nigeria's cooks and hospitality aides come from that region. No other region has conflict with them. Facts.
One Day i will be at the calabar carnival.. Its lit
This is beautiful…..
You guys are amazing !
You are as well!
COVID only stopped it for 2 years
It was Lithuania 😂😂😂❤❤❤
The carnival he documented was the list among the other years

Hv lived in Spain, europe for about 15 yrs n christmas celebration is non existent. Funny hw this people brought a religion to the interiors of africa n forgot their own lands. At this times is when "home",Nigeria really hits home.
