    Great on the video side but what are you doing for audio? I couldn't see a rack mount QU SB or similar in there, protools with Dante, just the onboard simple ATEM mixer, what's the go?

    • @spellbindertv
      @spellbindertv  Рік тому +1

      Hey Luke, great question and well spotted! I haven’t quite found an onboard solution I like yet that fits the bill but there is space in the main rack… for now audio into VMix is handled by a Flow 8 which is also used to send the PGM audio to the Dante comms. Alternatively when part of a bigger crew it’s via Avio adapter and Dante. I’d like to add a RedNet card to the VMix for maximum flexibility and robustness in the future. With the ATEM I’ve got the 2 1/4” inputs on the rear panel for analogue input and these can come via the Flow8 for splitting to the comms as well.

      @spellbindertv  Рік тому

      Further update. I’ve added a Dante RedNet card to the VMix so that’s now handling audio io. Analogue audio inputs to Dante are on the Glensound R8, or an external Dante Convertor.

    Amazing! I didn’t see this Bonding solution ( Intinor ) and I would like to see a video testing. :))))❤

      Hi thanks… yes it’s very good. Using their own Bifrost protocol. Have a look at intinor’s channel, they have some excellent demos of bonding / de bonding transmission. You can also use KA Sat with the solution together with 3G and 4G sims and x2 ISPs. ⚒️

      Thanks for the comment… delayed reply sorry… but since making this video I actually reverted to having the switched in the main rack as I did v few jobs with the small rack and always missed having everything! Planning on some more content and config changes soon, thanks!

    Why is the audio volume so low on this video? What loudness target do you have in your workflow?

    • @spellbindertv
      @spellbindertv  Рік тому +1

      This is at -10dB. In hindsight when watched on a tv compared to other YT content it could be louder so I’ll be mastering the audio louder on future content. Thanks!

    Great build! How do you find the noise level from the racks? I've got a very similar fly rack build with BM switchers and Netgear M4250 switches, and the fans in the 4250 switches just roar along when things get warm. The racks are too loud to have in the same room as presenters... 😕

    • @spellbindertv
      @spellbindertv  Рік тому +1

      Cheers Gil. Yes after a few hours the ATEM rack can get a bit loud. However, have you ever heard an iNTINOR? The fans in there are pretty hefty!! So tend to drown out the noise from the switches… probably 90% of my work it’s never an issue as tend to have separation for the gallery and studio space. Could put it all in a 6U shock mount which would be space for fans and allow for cooling around the gear but then it would be massive to transport and move… the idea was just to have a 4U box that can do quick SDI setups where there’s not a lot of need for graphics and snazzy stuff… just a solid way to switch cameras and output signals.

    • @gil_carter
      @gil_carter Рік тому

      @@spellbindertv thanks - it's a luxury to have enough scale to have gear away from presenters! The 4U box is a good size too.

  • @philpritchard5173
    @philpritchard5173 Рік тому +2

    Amazing. Thx for sharing. What is a 4U or 12 U box?

    • @spellbindertv
      @spellbindertv  Рік тому

      Thanks Phil… U stands for unit. So 4RU is 4 rack units and refers to the number of pieces of standard 19” width rack gear you can fit in each rack. Common sizes are 3,4, 6, 9, 12, 24, 48U and so forth.

    looks really good. Would also love to see more about the Intinor! as was getting a little confused while trying to navigate their website. do you use it to transport the video feed back to a studio ? or do you connect it to a metwork switch/router for bonding a network connection to be able to broadcast to say youtube etc ?

    • @spellbindertv
      @spellbindertv  Рік тому +1

      Hey Jack, thanks man. Maybe I can do something on that specifically at some point. I agree the products can be somewhat confusing because they have 3 main units but basically you can configure the hardware and software depending on your needs. They are great pieces of hardware, but essentially linux machines which run thieir software. The Direkt Link is principally just an encoder used to send video, be that via RTMP, SRT, Bi-frost (iNTINOR's own transport protocol for bonding) or RIST etc, though it can also pull feeds. They are often used as point to point video transmission via the internet. In this workflow you have a sending encoder (Direkt Link) and a Router (studio) to receive and redistribute the feed ie. output it as SDI or recieve multiple incoming feeds. So you can purchase your own hardware for bonding and debonding / video transmission. Hope that helps :)

      @@spellbindertv thanks for that man! yeah if i'm totally honest their website is a little difficult to try and understand at times. very helpful. would the Hamidall work if configures as a celular bonded router on its own? in a rack environment. giving my computer a stable connection to the internet. i'm in the development stage. what i am trying to get is a solution for running remote srt ( or ideally NDI ! ) feeds for my camera source to my computer over a cellular bonded encoder unit ( i think thats the right phrase for it hah) a little complicated i know! but with NDI 5 i think it opens up new possibilities for workflows .
      would also love to know what the actual cost of these units are

    Blue powercon should never be connected "HOT", it should always be disconnected from the power source when making the connection, as it's pins can arc before grounded. The revised version, Powercon True1 connectors, black with yellow tabs, ARE designed to be connected while hot.

    • @spellbindertv
      @spellbindertv  Рік тому

      The “hot” power in is referring to non UPS protected input, ie venue, studio or stage power. The rack is connected without the mains power source being live and then switched on. The loop out enables kit that does not require UPS protection to be supplied power.

    • @spellbindertv
      @spellbindertv  Рік тому +1

      @@bitrage. ha yeah it’s not that kind of a build! Most of it is off the shelf. The ATEM rack I built the patch panels for using Penn Elcom bits, the main rack panels were custom made and I soldered the audio connections throughout. Cases are also custom so it’s pretty bespoke but all off the shelf. Thanks

      The Epic in the title is referring to the video mate not the build. Which I’m always looking to improve and indeed have since this video was made, but thanks for taking the time to comment.
