It's very easy to get lost and consumed from the stories of MrBallen tell. Sometimes hour's goes by listening to these stories and I end up with missing time wondering where the day went even when I'm busy around the house or work!!
today i was watching mr ballen on the couch and my dad came and he sat next to me and he asked me ''who is that'?'' i said that mr ballen was someone who told stories about paranormal stuff and crimes and my dad was like ''do you really find that interesting it seems kind of boring to me'' and 2 minutes later the video i was watching had ended and my dad said ''lets watch one more''
You know I like Ballen cause he's not tellin' these stories in a weird ''creepypasta'' style voice/cadence. He just telling the story in his normal voice/tone. It makes for a better story to me.
Well put, it feels like when a friend you know not to be one to believe in paranormal stuff and usually can debunk odd occurrences easily tells you a story of something even they can’t explain. Way scarier than a known prankster trying to rile you up in my opinion

Yup, don't leave children alone even on your own house. Who knows whatever stunt they'll pull and get them in danger? My mom tells me the tales of things she did as a baby, like climbing an wardrobe and sitting in a window in the 5th floor, kids don't have that much notion of danger.
I'm a new mother. My son's first birthday was recently and I asked for a state park pass so we can go to different state parks. I love hiking and he loves being outside. A lot of the parks have other attractions, but I primarily want to go hiking. Now I'm regretting asking for the pass. It's illogical, nothing is going to happen. But, the idea of him just disappearing terrifies me. I would be ruined mentally. My heart breaks for these families.

I think your initial gut reaction is right, why did I ask for this pass. I’m retired from government service worked outdoors majority of the time. Never ever leave a child unattended especially in the woods. And know this, so so many people go missing in National parks and the government will not create an information center for the missing, go figure. Be safe.

i hope you found a way to balance your fears and your love for the outdoors my mom and my grandma and my great grandma were completely dominated by fears of what could happen to us as children. now that i have an 8 mo old, i find myself reflecting on how stifling and confidence-crushing it always was to be worried after in this way constantly. so here i am, watching this silly channel wondering how i can do better. i can see how i am just like the previous generations; they, too, loved these sort of stories i figure these stories really distract from much darker fears; after all, you can worry all day about your children, but if the worst happens and they are ever harmed, it will most likely be by someone they know and love. there is something deeply wrong with our society, and it is our job as parents to keep our kids as safe as possible from it. it's easier to fixate on these stories than it is to agitate, educate, and organize for a better world as a whole. we keep each other safe, and learning to trust our children might do wonders. outdoor activities build trust both ways, so i can't wait to take my kiddo out there. good luck
I shouldn't watch the ones on the forest and woods.... I don't have a problem with the other ones because I don't crawl in caves, I don't scuba dive... but I shouldn't watch these ones. I love the forest and spend a lot of time in them alone... these stories pop into my head at the worst times!
The mother in the first story has absolutely no reason to be upset at her 6 year old son. The woman should have NEVER left her children behind on the road in the first place. Pick up your child and carry him if you're worried about his feet. You don't ever leave your children alone in the woods, especially if you can't see them or they can't see you.

I was once lost in a patch of woods once. I had gone there to deer hunt. That is probably the worst few minutes of my life. I say that because once panic sets in you find yourself running aimlessly, making a bad situation only worse. But I did finally get a grip on my situation and found myself a way out to my truck. I had actually somehow circled around and came out about 2 miles from where I parked. Great story telling.
A similar thing happened to me and my cousins out at our Grandmother's property. It's ringed by woods that get thicker the further away from the house you get. We were lost for the entire afternoon, it was almost dark by the time we finally exited the woods a while down the road at the next house down. Crazy far from my Grandmother's house, you can't even see the two houses from one another. We were less than 10 and we had no idea how far we had walked, no clue what direction we were going in.
Yeah whenever a person feels lost in the woods they have a natural instinct to start running. One time I was lost and started running, it was close to dark and I almost ran off a small cliff. So I decided to slow down and I eventually made it out. I learned from that.
I was in south lake tahoe ...9 yrs old playing in the woods in early Nov..my brother walks home for some stupid reason..i just wanted to hang out in the woods..then i realized i better get going home. ..but i traveled south when i should have went north..bottomline i spent a night in the woods probably the most frightening experience I ever encounter due to the different noises and sounds that I heard all night I heard things that I couldn't tell you what they were I crawled underneath a dead tree and foliage and when I woke up I heard people looking for me my mom my dad and the sheriff department boy did I get in big trouble.
I’ve been lost many times playing in the woods as a kid and never once did running even cross my mind. Never heard of anyone saying that they thought to run when they thought they were lost. Most people either stop, look around and try to figure out where they are at and then they keep walking hoping to find something they recognize or they stay where they are hoping someone will come look for them and find them.
I just want to say I’m 28, and I’ve quit smoking and drinking after almost 10 years of doing both everyday. These videos are what’s helping me get through these first hard few weeks. So thank you Mr.Ballen! And good luck to anyone else going through something similar!

I’m 38 I don’t smoke cigarettes but I do smoke weed, I’m not a big drinker but I do have a few bud lights every now and again sometimes some sour mash Jack Daniels as well but I can’t drink too much of either because I get a bad headache. I have a friend who owns a US Marine Corporal/Police dog that is used in SAR. Just a few years ago she (the dog) saved a child's life in a state park. The police and volunteers had been searching for 8 hours. The dog found the kid within 20 minutes. Start with dogs people
Unfortunately the dogs don’t always work especially when they can’t pick up the scent in some of these stories and that I’ve seen sometimes the dogs either can’t pick up a scent or the scent they get leads nowhere but yes the dogs needed to be used sooner
As a father, any story whereas a child goes missing or is found deceased, it's the most devastating feeling that any parent would never want to experience from their children. My heart goes out.
Cant feel too bad for the complete FOOLS who allowed the children to die by a combination of ill preparation, and allowing their children out of their sight in those situations. Stories like these piss me off so much.... When my son is with me in the woods, i am prepared as hell for ANY weather.

I feel the same way. It's actually kind of strange in a way because before my daughter was born I didn't feel nearly as strongly about it as I do now. Of course I would think it's sad, I'd relate it to my (much) younger siblings, etc. But now it's just devastating. I honestly really hate hearing it and wish there was a warning in the description or something about which kids aren't found or are found deceased so I can skip those stories.
I think that Bobby was taken by a cougar. This explains why it happened so fast and so quietly. The cougar probably stalked them. If it grabbed Bobby and ran with him there probably would not be any blood. Where the dog lost the track the cougar probably jumped into a tree with Bobby. Poor Bobby :-(
I agree. Cougars are incredibly stealthy, fast and it's not unusual for them to grab prey by the throat/head which can stop anything from making noise.
@@scaathreykrThe Expert probably tunnel visioned after being given the case info. So they probably didn't even think about the possibility that the cat had been in the trees and not on the ground. Not to mention the ground is rocky and where it isn't the toddler is putting a bunch of footprints down. It's easy for tracks to get lost in that.
I really love how Mr. Ballen includes non-important details like 'they got out of the tree and stretched and adjusted themselves.' Those little details aren't really important and don't add any special information to the story, but they make it so much more immersive and believable. I love how much time, effort, and detail he puts into his videos.
That's makes them stories or tales and not simply reports. He fleshes the tale out with details in a way that allows you to feel as if you're there. It makes it seem like he was there as well. He is such a natural. A real talent.

It never ceases to amaze me how many people let small children run around unsupervised in a wilderness where wolves, coyotes, bears and cougars all live freely.
Even in beaches, with so much activity, even in the water! Parents reading a book, talking, sunbathing, etc. It it is what it is. Leaving your dog in the car, outside a shop. Even leaving a toddler/baby in the car, even leaving them just 5 minutes. Everything happens over and over again, despite people listen to news, docus, read real stories...
Back in the day, it was fairly common. Nothing ever really happened, and we were far more responsible for our age than adults are today. Giving people a hard time from an era that was totally different than today's is kind of moronic.
most parents have had a moment when theyre at a mall or carnival and for about 10 seconds you cant find your child and that horrible instant panic kicks in but luckily it only last the 10 seconds up until you spot your child. could you imagine days, weeks or years of that feeling?
No, I couldn't. Once I couldn't find my son at a park and I was flipping out,crying,screaming his name. He crawled out of the tunnel by the slide and was like "mommy! Are u okay?!". Those 2 minutes felt like 2 hours and I was so relieved, I just couldn't stop crying.😥 That was my moment! But I don't think I could go on if something like that happened to one of my kids.
I can’t even imagine my daughter abducted or missing without a trace! I always say if my child was ever taken from me, I’d no longer want to be in this world. Truly I can’t imagine my life without her. I couldn’t live with that, I feel so bad for any parents whose experienced this.
When I was about 3, a man kept talking to me while I was playing on a playground . He said he liked my jacket , and said, “your name is Destinee, right ?” I remember smiling up at him. I then remember him walking away with me holding my hand and my mom was screaming my name on the playground spinning in circles - he told me to keep walking . My mom saw me and ran after me and he ran off ; I’ve never seen such fear in someone’s eyes like I did in my mothers. As an adult now , my child was hiding in a garmet rack at Walmart to scare women (he was 7)… I felt the same sheer panic when I couldn’t find him anywhere … Such a terrible sinking feeling
My mom used to work at a police department, so she had the pleasure of seeing the worst side of humanity daily, including abduction cases. On top of that, she had a 5 year old who thought it was absolutely hilarious to hide in clothing racks or duck behind corners while shopping... I'm legitimately terrified of the karma that will unfold if I ever have kids
I know that in the 1960's, leaving very young children alone was more normal than it is today. But leaving a 6-year-old with a 4-year-old and then being angry with the 6-year-old is as irresponsible as it gets. That poor young man probably feels guilty to this day, even though he would be in his 60's today. That being said, I can't imagine losing a young child like that in the woods and then never knowing what happened. I would much rather find them deceased than to never find them at all.
I mean, having a 6 year old accompany a 4 year old isn't a huge task. Especially if you have done it before. 6 year olds aren't that dumb, but leaving a 4 year old with a 6 year old is another thing.
Things I got from these stories. 1. Never leave a minor under another minor's care then get irritated if the other old minor does something a normal minor would do, which is become unpatient or easily distracted. 2. Never assume safety, just because you think you're alone, doesn't necessarily mean that you are. 3. Just don't leave your kid alone and unattended. Kids do stupid and illogical things, they're adventurous, curious and wants to explore.

To the 1.Story: Everytime i come back to hear it, i feel so sorry for Jimmy. I mean - ha was also a little Boy after all - and we all know, that Patience is not their strengsth.. One could only hope, that he was able to cope with this "inner guilt" some Time through his life. @@reecenichols4425 my gf lived in an off grid place in thr middle of nowhere on the BC coast in Canada. During the winter everyone except for her would've for the city. She stayed. All alone. Well..her and 2 dogs. There were no roads. You had to heli In , hike 8 hours or boat in on a rocky coast. Which no one did unless absolutely necessary. One night while In her cabin with her 2 dogs she heard 3 knocks on her door. The dogs freaked out. She didn't move. Literally stayed frozen until sunrise. In the morning she looked for prints by the door. Nothing was there. There's no chance anything would've been there. But there were 3 heavy, evenly spaced out knocks on the door.

That’s the first rule of parenting. Never, Ever, leave your children alone. Whether it’s in public or in a place that they or you feel comfortable in. Above all, you should never leave your children alone in the wilderness. All it takes is a split second for them to disappear.

I can't tell you how much I love it when he cracks himself up, in the beginning, describing what to do to the like button. It doesn't happen very often, but when it does it really gets me.
He has a Q&A video where he is just casually talking, no script really, and it is fun to watch because you can get a better feel for his personality and he cracks up several times mostly while talking about the younger version of himself. You should watch it if you haven't already.
I'm watching with my dad, and my dad goes "This dude loves telling stories." And I said, "Yeah...that's kinda what this channel is..." and my dad just goes "I wanna borrow him for a campfire." So I'd say thats a compliment (￣⌣￣;)

I’ve been following you ever since. this past week a life changing experience had happened to me and to ease “My Mindset body and Soul” i’ve been re-watching your old videos from 2-3 years ago, and this second compilation story has so much graphic details. and if she had to leave him why not have the 10yr old stay with him not a 6 yr old. This is why i think you should have to pass an IQ and asset test before you have children, see if you are smart enough and can afford to raise a child. The world would be less populated
That was in the 60s way different time back then. Going barefoot as a child wasn’t an issue. Also depending on the articles you read about Bobby Panknin, you’ll find out it was reported at least twice that the oldest went off by himself to find the creek, the mother followed him after telling her second oldest to watch Bobby. That 10 feet in between them, was really about a 100 -150 feet.
That second story always makes me think that if the son was feeling delirious and fatigued there’s probably a good chance he thought he was walking towards his father but he was too out of it to realize it was the wrong way
But why would he tell the dog to stay if he thought he was meeting up with his father? That would mean someone still has to walk back to get the dog if they’d found help.
It sounds more like hypothermia. It's when the body temperature is really really low. The signs are: Confusion, Delusional, very tired and feeling of paralization / immobility. That comes and probably goes away for a short time. Like your body has the last bit of strengh left. But it also can make you think you are hot like your sweating. That's why people with hypthermia tend to get undressed. Maybe the dog noticed it but wanted to stay because of the father? And then because of the snowstorm and the bad weather they couldn't see where he went and the dog couldn't find his scent. Why he did it? There is no answer to this because he - the son - wasn't sane anymore. The father seemed also has had hypothermia as he thought he is seeing things that weren't there. And that's why hikers should have a satellite telefon and a gps with you. Always.
That whole story is truly mysterious. Nothing in it makes any sense. I mean, didn’t they have someone at home who would’ve known that they hadn’t come home when they said they would be and why would he have taken off his socks and boots. Just doesn’t make any sense unless the dad had something to do with it.
@@debrajones4010 Everything that the son was described as doing makes perfect sense and is far from mysterious if you know what you're looking at. It sounds like a classic case of hypothermia. The delirium, the paradoxical undressing (taking off the clothes when it's obviously freezing), the immobility, and him getting a burst of energy right at the end are all textbook symptoms. That last burst of adrenaline filled energy is the body desperately trying to heat itself up and keep moving, which explains how he got up and started walking after not being able to all day and why he died so soon after losing some of his clothes. The undressing happens at about the same time, hence why the clothes and body were found relatively close together. The dog is easily explained by him just listening to the father's command to stay put. Hunting dogs usually have amazing obedience, so chances are, it got told to stay and it stayed. As for the trip and people knowing, they might not have told anyone or it may have just been between the two of them for whatever reason (i.e. there wasn't a mom/wife in the picture, they just didn't think to make it a big deal, etc.). The dad is the least shady person in this story, and most of it is chalked up to a lack of emergency preparedness and horrible weather.

People very often mistake the time frame, think it were 'but' two minutes but surly it was much more than that!!!! That happens very often and it's every time the same, people misjugde the time again and again!!! And that causes problems because it often changes the whole thing!!! Yes, John seems not to be bottered by icy cold weather, by snow, rain, storm, or even hurricanes, he goes on and on, never giving up!! He's a true champ! Lots of love to him and his family from Pinkie I do wish he also told 'campfire stories' like my father use to do when I was much younger! Those were creepy and scarry and certainly never really happend, but I loved it so much!! He taught me to be fearless and to be able to defend myself. He was a hard man, for himself but also for me. It made me strong and fierce and made me stand out between lots of other girls HAHA. The bad thing about him was that he hated that I was sensitive and empathetic. But no matter what he tried, he could never change that, and I am even more proud of that fact!! Sweeties, stay safe and always listen to Mr.Ballen!!!!!
Never leave your kids alone in the woods, a park, even your car-- or anywhere you wouldn't want to be alone in. Rule 2-- don't let your small child watch your even smaller child, while you walk off to "look at something" It won't end well.
I honestly thought the story of the little boy would end with him being found alive. Don’t know why! Been listening to dark stuff for days. When the story ended my heart just dropped. It’s horror stories like that that made me watch my boys like a hawk when they were little. Never let them out of my sight in public, held their hands when walking anywhere, took them in the ladies restrooms with me, never left them in the car. People called me overprotective and paranoid. You know what? My kids are alive and well. Call me whatever the hell you want.
Exactly! You can never take your eyes off of little kids whether it's in a store, a park, or out in nature. Between possible people taking them, there are predators and/or kids could wander off and be hurt, lost, or killed in a million different ways. It's amazing how quickly they can disappear in a matter of seconds.
Story #2: When someone freezes to death, they often experience a hallucinatory sensation of overheating. It isn't uncommon to find their body partially nude, having stripped off their clothes. I would wager that that's why James Jr.'s boots and socks had been removed, and even that it could be how he had found the strength to get up and keep walking through the snow. He was experiencing imminent death psychosis.
Ive read so many instances where people were found in freezing conditions stripped down to nothing. I once suffered heat stroke and my body was freezing. They had to wrap me in a lot of blankets even though it was over 100•
That's just theory, that was never backed up by any studys. It happend so often with those missing casses that they included it to one of the symptoms of hyphotermia, but as i mentioned it was never observed in any studys. Fun fact, how come not a single person that died on Everest was found without clothes? All the bodys are always found in full gear. Maybe, the answer is, they actually died because od elements, and not of someones or something intervention.
@@Swiati I think most people on Everest die of oxygen deprivation and those who do die from the cold die relatively quickly compared to normal because of the lower oxygen levels and colder temperatures

As a mom of 2 little boys 😭. I agree with you!! Me and my husband recently got a backpack with a leash for our 2 year old to wear. I don’t care if I get dirty looks by other parents but hey the world is scary. At least I know my son can’t be snatched or run off. And he’s always walking in front of me.

I think the mom lied about how long because she didn’t want to be seen as responsible for it or be seen as an irresponsible mother and have her other children taken, Bobby wandered off until the work in the road, sat there for a bit before somebody came and saw him, picked him up and went away, either that or that patch of dirt is his very deep grave
I think what he means is the kid wondered that far because they lied about how long the time had been and who knows maybe the kid did get picked up by somebody and that's why the dog lost sent of the child cuz that's when the car took off where the car took off
Sounds like a mountain Lion took Bobby up a tree. People don’t look up enough when in the woods. So many times I’ve been in the woods and see not only a cat in a tree (bobcat, etc) but have been scared to death being surprised to see snakes, Bear, and even hunters. Be aware of your surroundings in the woods

Or even more?) and a whole bunch of people running all over the place, even the best bloodhound in the world would have a problem finding a track and more importantly, following it RELIABLY. People think dogs are these wonder-things that can do anything, but they are just as fallible as any living thing. And yes, before anyone asks: dogs DO run and follow *something* for a long long time if they think that's what their human wants. It's called a "ghost trail", where it seems that for sure the dog is tracking but in reality, it's just ... not. It's following something, just not what you want them to follow. Source: that's what I do (among other things). I train dogs (and more importantly their handlers).
Hypothermia is caused by prolonged exposure to the cold and many people that're affected by it attempt to take off their clothes in delirium, this could easily explain the cause of Bobby's death being exposure as well as him walking away in delirium as well as the fact that he removed his shoes and socks.
@@nathansoule612 Bobby was the boy who refused to wear shoes or socks. The boy that was left alone for two minutes alone. At full speed, a 5 year old boy cannot do 2 miles, barefoot, in just 3 days. Bobby 100% got abducted and the place where the bloodhound said bobby last was, was likely where bobby was forced into the abuctor's car, hence the scent gets dropped off in a seemingly random street
It sickens me that a mother would leave a 4 and 6 year old child on the side of the road with no clear line of sight no matter how close she thought she was. And then blame the 6 year old for leaving the 4 year old when she just did the same thing!
This lady decided to leave her son deep within an unfamiliar, remote overgrowth in the wilderness with a six year old, and gets annoyed at the six year old? Now that kid has grown up blaming himself for his mom’s careless neglect.
I'm pretty sure he said it was like 10 feet over the hill was where they were staying and they were on a path/road.. so I mean, yes, she shouldn't have just assumed they would've stayed, but I can understand where she maybe thought it'd be a quick trip and she'd be right back

What did she really expect by leaving a 4 and 6 yr old by themselves in the middle of nowhere? She shouldn't have brought them or kept them all together at the very least.
When my 3 year old sons hand slipped out of mine at a huge movie theater as I was paying for a movie ticket I looked for him and he was gone. This was in a busy mall. Mall security was looking for him. The movie theater was located at some exot doors and I was terrified he had been abducted. I kept my eyes trained on those doors just in case somebody tried to leave with him. At one moment I took my eyes off the exits doors and peered down the hallway where the movie rooms were situated. Suddenly I saw him! He ran out of one of the theater rooms and crossed the isle going into another room! I ran to the entrance and stepped into the darkness. There he was standing in the darkened room, watching the movie. He had been running in and out and watching the different movies! I know that feeling of your soul being sucked from your body. Very good way to put it because that is how it felt.

What I find most confusing about the first story is, why leave the boys alone at all? If the plan was to go to the water with the oldest boy and then come back for the other two and carry Bobby to the water. Why not carry him from the start and all of them go down to the water together. And why take the oldest child and leave the two youngest on their own? If you had to leave your youngest behind, would it not make sense to at least leave the 10 year old. Something very weird about the mother’s story, especially with the conflicting story of the oldest boy saying it was 100-150 meters and not two meters
I hate to victim blame but that was so stupid and irresponsible, how does that make any sense? It’s safer to have kids walk on some rocks then leave them alone?
I imagine she thought the way down to the waterfall may not be safe for the little ones. So she figured she might as well go check it out first. But even then, she'd have left all the kids together and go check out the place herself.

first one was probably a cougar. they hide in trees, stalking you and they’re super quick and quiet. would have had no problem jumping down and snatching up a little kid. they’re also everywhere in washington state
For that second story, when you start to get really bad hypothermia sometimes you develop what's called Paradoxical Undressing. The person freezing will suddenly feel very hot and start removing their clothes despite actually being incredibly cold.
I looked to see if someone addressed this in the comments cuz I was going to say paroxysmal undressing explains why people are found in states of undress. Really irritating when conspiratorial people think that it's some mysterious alien or portal or big foot thing 🙄 nah, it's just a strange human reaction to severe hypothermia.
I was just about to comment this. From my understanding what happens is that the body, in a last ditch effort to preserve itself, shunts all the blood inward to your core to try and preserve vital organs. This is what causes people to start feeling hot and take off their clothes while delirious.

The second story about the parent and his son sounds an awful lot like hypothermia. People are known to start feeling "hot" when they are experiencing hypothermia and they will remove some of their clothes in a confused panic. The dad might have also been going through the early stages, as the lights he saw could have been (and most probably were) a hallucination. It's very tragic he lost his son, but accidents happen. Weather is beyond our control and sometimes you just can't beat it.
@Steve Zubal ive been paralyzed to.. saw a shadow looking demon... it was slowely floating towards me from the upper corner of my room... i hadnt even got to sleep.. i just layed down turned the tv off and immediately felt a strong presence... a presence i was feeling earlier while on my computer.. thats why i layed down in the first place.. i thought i was having a powerful anxiety attack.. but something was definitely there.. my brother that night had sleep paralysis in his dream.. i was awake.. think it was the same demon that was fuckin with both of us but on the other end it could have justbeen a form of sleep paralysis who knows.. i just know what i saw vividly and will never forget how it happened.. ive seen the very opposite also about a year or 2 later.. i seen a angel in white robes vividly as the monitor your looking at to read this.. he had a walking stick too.. looked like someone from biblical age era.. will never forget that morning.. i can remember it to a T to this day 5-6 years later..

I will say from experience, hypothermia is a very very mind boggling thing. I too had began to get frost bite in my feet before the full blown hypothermia had set it. The whole thing happened 22 years ago to this day actually. I had been riding my 4 wheeler from a friends home which was a solid 4-5 hour trip on a good day. It was in a very remote location in the high mountains of West Virginia. This road is 37 miles from one end to the other across a high mountain ridge and on this day it had been snowing to the point that I had to almost come to a complete stop because I couldn’t see for the snow flakes hitting my eyes. I had stopped at a farmers home to see if he would allow me to warm up and him knowing the misery I was enduring, invited me into his home and offered me sone warm coffee to which I very willingly accepted. I was only 15 years old mind you and I probsbky shouldn’t have made this trip alone but I had made it many times before and I knew I had school the next day so I had to try and get home. Knowing this area, I also knew that the snow storm was coming and had to try and get home regardless of the weather. The snow and ice had gathered on my bibs and when I stood up I’d have to take both fists and break the ice on my legs before I could stand because they were literally frozen the shape of my leg while setting. after leaving the old farmers home I had realized the snow had gotten much deeper in the hour or so I was at the farmers and I was starting to have a hard time even busting through sone of the heavy snow drifts. I finally got back to lower elevation where the snow wasn’t as deep snd instead of taking the back way, thst I normally took, it was an old railroad grade. I instead took the pavement home which was still about 20 miles or so but I was so miserable I couldn’t have ever made the longer back way. Wheh I got home I started taking off my boots and my feet had gotten so cold, my left heel had gotten completely frost bitten and the instant that I started to warm my feet up, thr left frozen heel ruptured and literally bloody slush oozed from the inside of my foot. I ended up suffering from frost bite in every toe on both feet. And the lack of blood flow had caused damage through my entire body. I ended up making a full recovery. When I first went to the doctor they took a brush snd scrubbed the nasty stuff out if my ruptured heel and took a huge swab and soaked my foot in gypsum violet, (I think it was called) it burned so bad I’ll never forget the pain. But I can very easily see the young man making irrational decisions that could’ve let to his demise. Dad situation. Sorry to be so long winded. Give me a like if you read this to the end. I’m sure somebody finds my story interesting.

Yeah but he never should have left his son standing there alone to chase mysterious head lights. Take his hand amd make him run with you, or if he couldent walk throw him over your shoulder n take him. Either way you NEVER leave your child alone, weather it be in the parking lot of a huge shopping mall with thousands of people around, or in the woods with no one around. Those " head lights " were used to draw him away from his son, even if it was only for a few seconds. Just enough time to abduct a child. Totally fits the missing 411 criteria though. However, this is the first time I've heard of anything being used as a distraction. Even wierder is the dog didnt bark or make a sound, nor did it try to follow the boy.
@@skysolitude where im from, in New Jersey, its not wilderness, its a concrete jungle, I don't know maybe call it Street smarts but there's been many instances where somebody would lure a mother or father away on a deserted Road knowing that they need help all the time knowing that their partner in crime is ready to snatch that kid up as soon as the parent takes their eyes off of their kid. Edna's was initially upset when she hadnt realized that the boy was really missing. Just annoyed that he hadnt listened to her. And as Mr Ballen said they were only about 10vfeet away from one another just couldnt see due to the brush. It was mo ones fault but I'm sure they each blamed themselves.

TIP: Set up a camera to record to your camp site. This would be interesting because it would capture any wildlife passing through your site if you were gone hiking. Or asleep at night.
Another idea would be to carry a camera or two that would record in front and behind you if you go on hikes by yourself or even with others. This would give you video evidence of anything you saw. I recall hearing once that when you see bears in state or national parks, the officials in the park want to know where and when you sighted it.
And then when you inevitably look at the footage the next morning and see some kind of eldritch abomination walking around you campsite while you sleep unaware right beside it, you'll have video evidence as well as a mental breakdown.

To be honest, I was allowed as a 6 year old to play alone / out of sight. Although, you can't really decide such stuff soley based on age. My nephew wasn't even allowed to take the public transportation alone to his school until he was 13 which is, where I'm from, basically normal at the age of ~8. Some kids are more dense, some are less.

I have no idea where these places are, but not all departments have search dogs and need to request them from departments that do. That said, you usually start a search as quick as possible because every minute is precious when someone is missing. Some places it's easier to get a chopper in the air.
@@whiterabbits22 most bloodhounds come from prisons in the area, many police departments dont have them readily available but prisons do in case someone tries to break out and run.
You would think that the search dogs (bloodhounds) would be an integral part of any search for a missing person. It does seem strange that they wouldn't be brought out right away, it's not like you're paying for their manpower safe for the handler's time.

I live in Washington State and have grown up surrounded by the forest and even lived in the rain forest part of western WA and literally in the forest in eastern WA 😆😭 I hike all the time up here and in Oregon 🤧

The thing with these type of cases is that I always doubt "how close they were". The person probably feels very guilty and knows they'll be criticized harshly for being too far away from a small child, so they probably either lie about how far away they were or round it down to a great extent, so that even if they think, "I wasn't that far away", they were probably further than ten feet.
I always feel the same way…it was not ‘Ten Feet’…it was not only ‘Ten Minutes’…but hey, guilt or not, true or not…makes for great, mysterious storytelling.

I'm a new mother. My son's first birthday was recently and I asked for a state park pass so we can go to different state parks. I love hiking and he loves being outside. A lot of the parks have other attractions, but I primarily want to go hiking.
Now I'm regretting asking for the pass. It's illogical, nothing is going to happen. But, the idea of him just disappearing terrifies me. I would be ruined mentally. My heart breaks for these families.

I think your initial gut reaction is right, why did I ask for this pass. I’m retired from government service worked outdoors majority of the time. Never ever leave a child unattended especially in the woods. And know this, so so many people go missing in National parks and the government will not create an information center for the missing, go figure. Be safe.

my mom and my grandma and my great grandma were completely dominated by fears of what could happen to us as children. now that i have an 8 mo old, i find myself reflecting on how stifling and confidence-crushing it always was to be worried after in this way constantly. so here i am, watching this silly channel wondering how i can do better. i can see how i am just like the previous generations; they, too, loved these sort of stories
i figure these stories really distract from much darker fears; after all, you can worry all day about your children, but if the worst happens and they are ever harmed, it will most likely be by someone they know and love. there is something deeply wrong with our society, and it is our job as parents to keep our kids as safe as possible from it. it's easier to fixate on these stories than it is to agitate, educate, and organize for a better world as a whole. we keep each other safe, and learning to trust our children might do wonders. outdoor activities build trust both ways, so i can't wait to take my kiddo out there. good luck

The mother in the first story has absolutely no reason to be upset at her 6 year old son. The woman should have NEVER left her children behind on the road in the first place. Pick up your child and carry him if you're worried about his feet. You don't ever leave your children alone in the woods, especially if you can't see them or they can't see you.

I was once lost in a patch of woods once. I had gone there to deer hunt. That is probably the worst few minutes of my life. I say that because once panic sets in you find yourself running aimlessly, making a bad situation only worse. But I did finally get a grip on my situation and found myself a way out to my truck. I had actually somehow circled around and came out about 2 miles from where I parked. Great story telling.
A similar thing happened to me and my cousins out at our Grandmother's property. It's ringed by woods that get thicker the further away from the house you get. We were lost for the entire afternoon, it was almost dark by the time we finally exited the woods a while down the road at the next house down. Crazy far from my Grandmother's house, you can't even see the two houses from one another. We were less than 10 and we had no idea how far we had walked, no clue what direction we were going in.
Yeah whenever a person feels lost in the woods they have a natural instinct to start running. One time I was lost and started running, it was close to dark and I almost ran off a small cliff. So I decided to slow down and I eventually made it out. I learned from that.
I was in south lake tahoe ...9 yrs old playing in the woods in early Nov..my brother walks home for some stupid reason..i just wanted to hang out in the woods..then i realized i better get going home. ..but i traveled south when i should have went north..bottomline i spent a night in the woods probably the most frightening experience I ever encounter due to the different noises and sounds that I heard all night I heard things that I couldn't tell you what they were I crawled underneath a dead tree and foliage and when I woke up I heard people looking for me my mom my dad and the sheriff department boy did I get in big trouble.

I’ve been lost many times playing in the woods as a kid and never once did running even cross my mind. Never heard of anyone saying that they thought to run when they thought they were lost. Most people either stop, look around and try to figure out where they are at and then they keep walking hoping to find something they recognize or they stay where they are hoping someone will come look for them and find them.
I just want to say I’m 28, and I’ve quit smoking and drinking after almost 10 years of doing both everyday. These videos are what’s helping me get through these first hard few weeks. So thank you Mr.Ballen! And good luck to anyone else going through something similar!

I have a friend who owns a US Marine Corporal/Police dog that is used in SAR. Just a few years ago she (the dog) saved a child's life in a state park. The police and volunteers had been searching for 8 hours. The dog found the kid within 20 minutes. Start with dogs people

Unfortunately the dogs don’t always work especially when they can’t pick up the scent in some of these stories and that I’ve seen sometimes the dogs either can’t pick up a scent or the scent they get leads nowhere but yes the dogs needed to be used sooner
As a father, any story whereas a child goes missing or is found deceased, it's the most devastating feeling that any parent would never want to experience from their children. My heart goes out.
Cant feel too bad for the complete FOOLS who allowed the children to die by a combination of ill preparation, and allowing their children out of their sight in those situations.

I feel the same way. It's actually kind of strange in a way because before my daughter was born I didn't feel nearly as strongly about it as I do now. Of course I would think it's sad, I'd relate it to my (much) younger siblings, etc. But now it's just devastating. I honestly really hate hearing it and wish there was a warning in the description or something about which kids aren't found or are found deceased so I can skip those stories.
I think that Bobby was taken by a cougar. This explains why it happened so fast and so quietly. The cougar probably stalked them. If it grabbed Bobby and ran with him there probably would not be any blood. Where the dog lost the track the cougar probably jumped into a tree with Bobby. Poor Bobby :-(

I agree. Cougars are incredibly stealthy, fast and it's not unusual for them to grab prey by the throat/head which can stop anything from making noise.
@@scaathreykrThe Expert probably tunnel visioned after being given the case info. So they probably didn't even think about the possibility that the cat had been in the trees and not on the ground. Not to mention the ground is rocky and where it isn't the toddler is putting a bunch of footprints down. It's easy for tracks to get lost in that.

I really love how Mr. Ballen includes non-important details like 'they got out of the tree and stretched and adjusted themselves.' Those little details aren't really important and don't add any special information to the story, but they make it so much more immersive and believable. I love how much time, effort, and detail he puts into his videos.

Once I couldn't find my son at a park and I was flipping out,crying,screaming his name. He crawled out of the tunnel by the slide and was like "mommy! Are u okay?!". Those 2 minutes felt like 2 hours and I was so relieved, I just couldn't stop crying.😥
That was my moment! But I don't think I could go on if something like that happened to one of my kids.
I can’t even imagine my daughter abducted or missing without a trace! I always say if my child was ever taken from me, I’d no longer want to be in this world. Truly I can’t imagine my life without her. I couldn’t live with that, I feel so bad for any parents whose experienced this.

My mom used to work at a police department, so she had the pleasure of seeing the worst side of humanity daily, including abduction cases. On top of that, she had a 5 year old who thought it was absolutely hilarious to hide in clothing racks or duck behind corners while shopping... I'm legitimately terrified of the karma that will unfold if I ever have kids
I know that in the 1960's, leaving very young children alone was more normal than it is today. But leaving a 6-year-old with a 4-year-old and then being angry with the 6-year-old is as irresponsible as it gets. That poor young man probably feels guilty to this day, even though he would be in his 60's today. That being said, I can't imagine losing a young child like that in the woods and then never knowing what happened. I would much rather find them deceased than to never find them at all.
Apparently the now adult children say the parents never blamed anyone for the loss. They were very religious and chalked it up to God's will

Things I got from these stories.
1. Never leave a minor under another minor's care then get irritated if the other old minor does something a normal minor would do, which is become unpatient or easily distracted.
2. Never assume safety, just because you think you're alone, doesn't necessarily mean that you are.
3. Just don't leave your kid alone and unattended. Kids do stupid and illogical things, they're adventurous, curious and wants to explore.
2 year olds can't walk for miles in the dark, barefoot, uphill. This is a common thing in missing 411. It's incredibly unlikely.
4. Don't live near woods, mountains, swamps, or any widespread nature
Don't leave a kid to attend a child , children have short attention span let alone be responsible for another child that's the parents job

Well..her and 2 dogs. There were no roads. You had to heli In , hike 8 hours or boat in on a rocky coast. Which no one did unless absolutely necessary.
One night while In her cabin with her 2 dogs she heard 3 knocks on her door. The dogs freaked out. She didn't move. Literally stayed frozen until sunrise.
In the morning she looked for prints by the door. Nothing was there. There's no chance anything would've been there. But there were 3 heavy, evenly spaced out knocks on the door.

I can't tell you how much I love it when he cracks himself up, in the beginning, describing what to do to the like button. It doesn't happen very often, but when it does it really gets me.

That was in the 60s way different time back then. Going barefoot as a child wasn’t an issue.
Also depending on the articles you read about Bobby Panknin, you’ll find out it was reported at least twice that the oldest went off by himself to find the creek, the mother followed him after telling her second oldest to watch Bobby. That 10 feet in between them, was really about a 100 -150 feet.

That second story always makes me think that if the son was feeling delirious and fatigued there’s probably a good chance he thought he was walking towards his father but he was too out of it to realize it was the wrong way
But why would he tell the dog to stay if he thought he was meeting up with his father? That would mean someone still has to walk back to get the dog if they’d found help.
It sounds more like hypothermia. It's when the body temperature is really really low. The signs are: Confusion, Delusional, very tired and feeling of paralization / immobility. That comes and probably goes away for a short time. Like your body has the last bit of strengh left. But it also can make you think you are hot like your sweating. That's why people with hypthermia tend to get undressed. Maybe the dog noticed it but wanted to stay because of the father? And then because of the snowstorm and the bad weather they couldn't see where he went and the dog couldn't find his scent.
Why he did it? There is no answer to this because he - the son - wasn't sane anymore.
The father seemed also has had hypothermia as he thought he is seeing things that weren't there.
And that's why hikers should have a satellite telefon and a gps with you. Always.
Seems more likely that the dad was being shady...
That whole story is truly mysterious. Nothing in it makes any sense. I mean, didn’t they have someone at home who would’ve known that they hadn’t come home when they said they would be and why would he have taken off his socks and boots. Just doesn’t make any sense unless the dad had something to do with it.
@@debrajones4010 Everything that the son was described as doing makes perfect sense and is far from mysterious if you know what you're looking at. It sounds like a classic case of hypothermia. The delirium, the paradoxical undressing (taking off the clothes when it's obviously freezing), the immobility, and him getting a burst of energy right at the end are all textbook symptoms. That last burst of adrenaline filled energy is the body desperately trying to heat itself up and keep moving, which explains how he got up and started walking after not being able to all day and why he died so soon after losing some of his clothes. The undressing happens at about the same time, hence why the clothes and body were found relatively close together. The dog is easily explained by him just listening to the father's command to stay put. Hunting dogs usually have amazing obedience, so chances are, it got told to stay and it stayed. As for the trip and people knowing, they might not have told anyone or it may have just been between the two of them for whatever reason (i.e. there wasn't a mom/wife in the picture, they just didn't think to make it a big deal, etc.). The dad is the least shady person in this story, and most of it is chalked up to a lack of emergency preparedness and horrible weather.

I honestly thought the story of the little boy would end with him being found alive. Don’t know why! Been listening to dark stuff for days. When the story ended my heart just dropped. It’s horror stories like that that made me watch my boys like a hawk when they were little. Never let them out of my sight in public, held their hands when walking anywhere, took them in the ladies restrooms with me, never left them in the car. People called me overprotective and paranoid. You know what? My kids are alive and well. Call me whatever the hell you want.

Exactly! You can never take your eyes off of little kids whether it's in a store, a park, or out in nature. Between possible people taking them, there are predators and/or kids could wander off and be hurt, lost, or killed in a million different ways. Story #2: When someone freezes to death, they often experience a hallucinatory sensation of overheating. It isn't uncommon to find their body partially nude, having stripped off their clothes. I would wager that that's why James Jr.'s boots and socks had been removed, and even that it could be how he had found the strength to get up and keep walking through the snow. He was experiencing imminent death psychosis.

Ive read so many instances where people were found in freezing conditions stripped down to nothing. I once suffered heat stroke and my body was freezing. They had to wrap me in a lot of blankets even though it was over 100•
That's just theory, that was never backed up by any studys. It happend so often with those missing casses that they included it to one of the symptoms of hyphotermia, but as i mentioned it was never observed in any studys. Fun fact, how come not a single person that died on Everest was found without clothes? All the bodys are always found in full gear.
Maybe, the answer is, they actually died because od elements, and not of someones or something intervention.

As a mom of 2 little boys 😭. I agree with you!! Me and my husband recently got a backpack with a leash for our 2 year old to wear. I don’t care if I get dirty looks by other parents but hey the world is scary. At least I know my son can’t be snatched or run off. And he’s always walking in front of me.

I think the mom lied about how long because she didn’t want to be seen as responsible for it or be seen as an irresponsible mother and have her other children taken, Bobby wandered off until the work in the road, sat there for a bit before somebody came and saw him, picked him up and went away, either that or that patch of dirt is his very deep grave

I think what he means is the kid wondered that far because they lied about how long the time had been and who knows maybe the kid did get picked up by somebody and that's why the dog lost sent of the child cuz that's when the car took off where the car took off

Sounds like a mountain Lion took Bobby up a tree. People don’t look up enough when in the woods. So many times I’ve been in the woods and see not only a cat in a tree (bobcat, etc) but have been scared to death being surprised to see snakes, Bear, and even hunters. Be aware of your surroundings in the woods

Or even more?) and a whole bunch of people running all over the place, even the best bloodhound in the world would have a problem finding a track and more importantly, following it RELIABLY. People think dogs are these wonder-things that can do anything, but they are just as fallible as any living thing. And yes, before anyone asks: dogs DO run and follow *something* for a long long time if they think that's what their human wants. It's called a "ghost trail", where it seems that for sure the dog is tracking but in reality, it's just ... not. It's following something, just not what you want them to follow. Source: that's what I do (among other things). I train dogs (and more importantly their handlers).

Hypothermia is caused by prolonged exposure to the cold and many people that're affected by it attempt to take off their clothes in delirium, this could easily explain the cause of Bobby's death being exposure as well as him walking away in delirium as well as the fact that he removed his shoes and socks.

Bobby 100% got abducted and the place where the bloodhound said bobby last was, was likely where bobby was forced into the abuctor's car, hence the scent gets dropped off in a seemingly random street
It sickens me that a mother would leave a 4 and 6 year old child on the side of the road with no clear line of sight no matter how close she thought she was. And then blame the 6 year old for leaving the 4 year old when she just did the same thing!

When my 3 year old sons hand slipped out of mine at a huge movie theater as I was paying for a movie ticket I looked for him and he was gone. This was in a busy mall. Mall security was looking for him. The movie theater was located at some exot doors and I was terrified he had been abducted. I kept my eyes trained on those doors just in case somebody tried to leave with him. At one moment I took my eyes off the exits doors and peered down the hallway where the movie rooms were situated. Suddenly I saw him! He ran out of one of the theater rooms and crossed the isle going into another room! I ran to the entrance and stepped into the darkness. There he was standing in the darkened room, watching the movie. He had been running in and out and watching the different movies!

What I find most confusing about the first story is, why leave the boys alone at all? If the plan was to go to the water with the oldest boy and then come back for the other two and carry Bobby to the water. Why not carry him from the start and all of them go down to the water together. And why take the oldest child and leave the two youngest on their own? If you had to leave your youngest behind, would it not make sense to at least leave the 10 year old. Something very weird about the mother’s story, especially with the conflicting story of the oldest boy saying it was 100-150 meters and not two meters

first one was probably a cougar. they hide in trees, stalking you and they’re super quick and quiet. would have had no problem jumping down and snatching up a little kid. they’re also everywhere in washington state
For that second story, when you start to get really bad hypothermia sometimes you develop what's called Paradoxical Undressing. The person freezing will suddenly feel very hot and start removing their clothes despite actually being incredibly cold.

I was just about to comment this. From my understanding what happens is that the body, in a last ditch effort to preserve itself, shunts all the blood inward to your core to try and preserve vital organs. This is what causes people to start feeling hot and take off their clothes while delirious.

The second story about the parent and his son sounds an awful lot like hypothermia. People are known to start feeling "hot" when they are experiencing hypothermia and they will remove some of their clothes in a confused panic. The dad might have also been going through the early stages, as the lights he saw could have been (and most probably were) a hallucination. It's very tragic he lost his son, but accidents happen. Weather is beyond our control and sometimes you just can't beat it.

@Steve Zubal ive been paralyzed to.. saw a shadow looking demon... it was slowely floating towards me from the upper corner of my room... i hadnt even got to sleep.. i just layed down turned the tv off and immediately felt a strong presence... a presence i was feeling earlier while on my computer.. thats why i layed down in the first place.. i thought i was having a powerful anxiety attack.. but something was definitely there.. my brother that night had sleep paralysis in his dream.. i was awake.. think it was the same demon that was fuckin with both of us but on the other end it could have justbeen a form of sleep paralysis who knows.. i just know what i saw vividly and will never forget how it happened.. ive seen the very opposite also about a year or 2 later.. i seen a angel in white robes vividly as the monitor your looking at to read this.. he had a walking stick too.. looked like someone from biblical age era.. will never forget that morning.. i can remember it to a T to this day 5-6 years later..

Looking up the tree is actually the basic thing every search and rescue team does. They know sometimes people climb up trees when they feel endeared. 🙄

I will say from experience, hypothermia is a very very mind boggling thing. I too had began to get frost bite in my feet before the full blown hypothermia had set it. The whole thing happened 22 years ago to this day actually. I had been riding my 4 wheeler from a friends home which was a solid 4-5 hour trip on a good day. It was in a very remote location in the high mountains of West Virginia. This road is 37 miles from one end to the other across a high mountain ridge and on this day it had been snowing to the point that I had to almost come to a complete stop because I couldn’t see for the snow flakes hitting my eyes. I had stopped at a farmers home to see if he would allow me to warm up and him knowing the misery I was enduring, invited me into his home and offered me sone warm coffee to which I very willingly accepted. I was only 15 years old mind you and I probsbky shouldn’t have made this trip alone but I had made it many times before and I knew I had school the next day so I had to try and get home. Knowing this area, I also knew that the snow storm was coming and had to try and get home regardless of the weather. The snow and ice had gathered on my bibs and when I stood up I’d have to take both fists and break the ice on my legs before I could stand because they were literally frozen the shape of my leg while setting. after leaving the old farmers home I had realized the snow had gotten much deeper in the hour or so I was at the farmers and I was starting to have a hard time even busting through sone of the heavy snow drifts. I finally got back to lower elevation where the snow wasn’t as deep snd instead of taking the back way, thst I normally took, it was an old railroad grade. I instead took the pavement home which was still about 20 miles or so but I was so miserable I couldn’t have ever made the longer back way. Wheh I got home I started taking off my boots and my feet had gotten so cold, my left heel had gotten completely frost bitten and the instant that I started to warm my feet up, thr left frozen heel ruptured and literally bloody slush oozed from the inside of my foot. I ended up suffering from frost bite in every toe on both feet. And the lack of blood flow had caused damage through my entire body. I ended up making a full recovery. When I first went to the doctor they took a brush snd scrubbed the nasty stuff out if my ruptured heel and took a huge swab and soaked my foot in gypsum violet, (I think it was called) it burned so bad I’ll never forget the pain. But I can very easily see the young man making irrational decisions that could’ve let to his demise. Dad situation. Sorry to be so long winded. Give me a like if you read this to the end. I’m sure somebody finds my story interesting.

Yeah but he never should have left his son standing there alone to chase mysterious head lights. Take his hand amd make him run with you, or if he couldent walk throw him over your shoulder n take him. Either way you NEVER leave your child alone, weather it be in the parking lot of a huge shopping mall with thousands of people around, or in the woods with no one around. Those " head lights " were used to draw him away from his son, even if it was only for a few seconds. Just enough time to abduct a child. Totally fits the missing 411 criteria though. However, this is the first time I've heard of anything being used as a distraction. Even wierder is the dog didnt bark or make a sound, nor did it try to follow the boy.
@@skysolitude where im from, in New Jersey, its not wilderness, its a concrete jungle, I don't know maybe call it Street smarts but there's been many instances where somebody would lure a mother or father away on a deserted Road knowing that they need help all the time knowing that their partner in crime is ready to snatch that kid up as soon as the parent takes their eyes off of their kid. I'm not blaming your father but if I was in that situation I would have taken my son with me I don't care if we're in a supermarket he is never within two feet of me

Edna's was initially upset when she hadnt realized that the boy was really missing. Just annoyed that he hadnt listened to her. And as Mr Ballen said they were only about 10vfeet away from one another just couldnt see due to the brush. It was mo ones fault but I'm sure they each blamed themselves.

TIP: Set up a camera to record to your camp site. This would be interesting because it would capture any wildlife passing through your site if you were gone hiking. Or asleep at night.
Another idea would be to carry a camera or two that would record in front and behind you if you go on hikes by yourself or even with others. This would give you video evidence of anything you saw. I recall hearing once that when you see bears in state or national parks, the officials in the park want to know where and when you sighted it.
And then when you inevitably look at the footage the next morning and see some kind of eldritch abomination walking around you campsite while you sleep unaware right beside it, you'll have video evidence as well as a mental breakdown.
If I wake up in the morning and everything is fine, I don't want to know about the monster outside my tent last night.

Although, you can't really decide such stuff soley based on age. My nephew wasn't even allowed to take the public transportation alone to his school until he was 13 which is, where I'm from, basically normal at the age of ~8.

I have no idea where these places are, but not all departments have search dogs and need to request them from departments that do. That said, you usually start a search as quick as possible because every minute is precious when someone is missing. Some places it's easier to get a chopper in the air.
@@whiterabbits22 most bloodhounds come from prisons in the area, many police departments dont have them readily available but prisons do in case someone tries to break out and run.
You would think that the search dogs (bloodhounds) would be an integral part of any search for a missing person. It does seem strange that they wouldn't be brought out right away, it's not like you're paying for their manpower safe for the handler's time.

I'm a parent of 2 daughters and will never leave them alone ever! Never assume that nothing will happen to children being left alone
The thing with these type of cases is that I always doubt "how close they were".
The person probably feels very guilty and knows they'll be criticized harshly for being too far away from a small child, so they probably either lie about how far away they were or round it down to a great extent, so that even if they think, "I wasn't that far away", they were probably further than ten feet.

Dude I love this guy. He's funny, his voice makes everything more interesting, doesnt clickbait, has insanely well documented and edited videos AND has only 2 ads per almost half an hour.
