If your dog enters battle mode, youd best enter it yourself. Dont rely on your dog to protect you; its expecting you to have its back just as much as you expect it to have yours
You Damn Skippy Sir!! If he or I go into battle, we go into battle. 2 Pits (Brothers) facing down a Cougar 25 meters away and they both took off! Only light source we had was the fire. We took off after them with the intention to kill this Cougar. Thankfully, we trained them properly and they stopped about halfway and came back to us. We would die for them and I already know, they'd died for us from personal experience. Best damn dogs we ever had.
I'd feel bad if my dog got hurt protecting me or trying to and I didn't have it's back. The few times my dogs have acted weird, I've just went with them. It's like not splitting up in a horror movie.

So I work in security and anytime I'm working a night shift, when it gets particularly quiet, I start hearing Mr. Ballen in my head narrarating my actions.

From one nighttime security guard to another, my respects to you! :)

Have you ever had any creepy or unexplained experiences while working there?
Even today, this is still one of the scariest stories I've ever heard. Of all the stories you've told over the last few years, this one still gets my every time.
I like as well the one where some dude was in the forest and he can hear movement but can’t see far and when he woke up mid night he saw his flashlight laying in the distance and when he gets out of there someone wrote on his car window “sleep well” but nah scariest would be the dad and son going hunting and there’s nothing and at night there’s someone outside there tent laughing and ran off

Truee
I did what the comment said, I’m not sleeping
Lol you're right
Nothing is scarier then when a pet sees something scary that you can’t see.
Just wrote a long reply to your comment... only for it to get destroyed while editing it... long story short, and without any context... I have watched my parents’ two Siberian huskies chase something out of a closet it my parents home, through the house, up the walls, and onto the ceiling where they growled and barked at whatever they were seeing crawl on the ceiling for 20 minutes. This was just after I got home from football practice and was trying to go relax. It was one of the most disturbing experiences of my life. Writing the story earlier made me tear up and gave me goosebumps. Their are some things we cant forget, for me... that is one of them. This was a sliver of the the experiences from that house. The worst part... this wasn’t even the most disturbing encounter. Recalling the memories brings about an immediate and intense feeling of dread I cannot forget even 10 years after. So here I am.. telling strangers on UA-cam haha. Too bad the rest of the story was deleted... take care friends. Love the ones you love, and keep them close. Everything can be explained, but some explanations might be better left off as mysteries.
And watching your two huskies howl at it.
That's pretty scary, but let's be honest, *nothing* is scarier than hitting play on the PornHub video and realizing your bluetooth earbuds aren't on.

why would anyone wanna stay in the middle of the woods without some guns
Right!!
because not everybody is scared like a murican
He was 17 and just lost his dad, why are you judging a child for not having a gun...
@@arianalynne3430 because this is America
Because not everyone is a coward that needs a gun to take care of themselves or to feel safe. I been to woods and mountains and deserts and never felt any need to have a gun with me. I am capable, mature adult and self reliant. I don't need a gun to feel safe. I don't need a gun to handle every situation that may come up. As a side note - if a person is not capable and therefor easily scared does have a gun, there is a rather high chance of that person using said gun when they don't need to and killing someone that was never a threat to them in the first place. See the vast amount of police shootings of unarmed civilians. Some of those are justified and some are not. An idiot with a gun is a danger to themselves and others.
Edit* - just looked this up for ya. 300,000 murders last year by humans. Roughly 700 deaths by animal attacks per year (average). There is danger is the world - just not really where your fear is at.
I really need a dog. Because most of the horror stories with dogs on this channel, they actually know when something is wrong before humans do.
Pretty incredible.
It's true, dogs have super senses. I'm retired, but I used to work late then come home to a house with everyone already in bed. I would read or write and unwind awhile before turning in around 1 a.m. or so. We had a Miniature Schnauzer at the time, weighing 30 pounds. He was a good watch dog. One night, after I had come home, he jumped off the recliner where he slept and began barking in a ferocious way that I hadn't heard before. He pointed his nose at the corner of the room. I turned off the lamp and looked out the window. A man was standing well up in the driveway. A big man silhouetted against the snow. He was looking up the driveway toward the garage behind our house. I knew what he wanted---a gas generator I had chained to the freestanding basketball goal. An ice storm had downed our power for the past week, and I had borrowed the generator from my brother-in-law. But the man in the driveway was too late; I had returned it after the power came back on. After my initial surprise, I looked again but the guy had gone. My dog had saved the day. I mean night.
Did you get one?
Im a 30 yr old man and I've had my own experiences. This terrified me and brought flashbacks..
Please do tell and share some 😊
As a wise man once said: No one is afraid of being alone in the dark, but people are afraid of not being alone in the dark
Well said; people who go on vacation often want to be alone. It's not being alone in itself, but being alone *with something* undesirable and unknown that is the stuff of nightmares.
Nah polis sef lie na tu wa take I'm from Nagaland 👍🙏
Yes. People are not afraid of the dark…… they are afraid of what is in the dark.
@@kg2978 I have a quote from centuries ago which literally says, is also literally translated in every single one of all the other languages languages, word for word :
"There is nothing in the dark that is not there in the light."
This quote makes complete sense, if there's a presence anywhere near you, whether the light is on or not, the presence itself is staying right there regardless.
Mind you, this quote was written by a worldwide famous philosopher who was known for being a skeptical about anyone and anything which doesn't have a rational explanation.
Can you give me your opinion on this one, please??!
@@saidavalet6710 because we as people tend to let our minds be creative when I’m the dark. Hearing noises that if the lights were on we wouldn’t think twice about what it is. People fear what they cannot see. People tend to fear what your brain cannot give an answer to in my opinion. So a leaf being blown by the wind in the light you can see what caused the noise. The wind blowing the leaf in darkness your brain might process it as someone walking on the leaves.

Something stalks me in my room sometimes in the dark at night… It touches me and moves things around. It’s been going on for years… I just leave sometimes and my dog watches towards my room and kisses me occasionally to calm me down… Idk what it wants and why it does it but I can feel its presence rn in my bedroom and I’m just like “welp! What do ya do?!” At this point… A couple nights ago it tapped my shoulder while I was drifting off then I saw its massive shadowy hand above my face slowly descending towards it. I just sighed and turned on the lights but it was still in the room so I went to the couch… Just why spirit? What did I do? Are you reading this right now? Come on dude.

Hi Mr Ballen.
I just felt like I should share something with you my name is Esther. I listen to you at work and was listening to some of the stories where people go missing. One of the things I remember my father who was an exorcist, saying is demons live in abandoned places like cabins, empty hotel rooms, houses etc. Remember spirits need warm bodies to dwell in. That could be why people go missing a lot or just lose their minds. Just thought I’d share that with you. For the haters reading this mind your business.
Wow, how interesting your father is.❤

I once heard very loud tapping on my bedroom window, which is literally less than arms length away from my bed. And in my immediate overthinking panic, I thought it was a person (my room is on the second floor) _but_ we have tinted windows and it was just a fat bird that was fighting its reflection lol
This made me giggle lol
I woke up twice around 730am to someone banging on my bedroom window. I live in a ground level apartment. I was terrified to look outside but I think it was just my neighbours kids knocking at my cat who was looking out the window lol
ravens, crows, magpies and blackbirds love shiny stuff and will do almost any to take it. including tapping it repeatedly to try to get it lose
LOL when I had new windows fitted I had that for a while... drove me nuts I ended up spraying veg oil on my windows so they would stop fixating on their reflections....
A few years ago when i was skyping, my back was to the window and my friend told me that someone was staring at me, sure enough it was a man outside my window eyeballing me while i had my back towards him. He left fast after i turned around

It really is just a primal thing in us that hasn’t yet recognized that a city at night is an infinitely more dangerous place than a forest at night.
This is very true.
Yeah and flying on a plane is safer than driving, but I guarantee dying in plane crash is 1000x scarier than a car crash..
No predator is more terrifying than mankind. Intellect and recognition of wrong doing is far worse than an animal simply trying to survive.
Depends where the city is? America? Absolutely.
And yes, it is a primal fear. It's called " fear of the unknown".
To quote the great HP Lovecraft, " the oldest and strongest emotion of mankind is *fear*. And the oldest and strongest kind of fear is *fear of the unknown*."
This is why we are afraid of the dark. We don't know what out there. This is why disembodied noises are scary - we don't know it's origin.
And what you don't know, your head fills in the blanks.
@@captainp.2721 No😂 the primal fear of the dark is because of nocturnal predators. We have been afraid of the dark because WE HAVE known what is out there… Today though humans are the apex predator even to other humans and fear of the dark(for a possible predator) is statistically foolish considering you are infinitely more likely to be killed by another human.

Mr Ballen tells the best stories. I have always been into horror stories. Now, I am trying to listen to all his stories.
Sounds like a rake to me. Another great encounter story. Keep em coming!
I thought the same, prob a rake
@@HendriksDunjacan you eat it if so where do i hunt one.
I've lived in the thick forest of Northern MN, then I Moved to the Rocky Mountains where I still reside. It's not the weird sounds, animal noises, twigs snapping etc. It's what makes Mother Nature go completely silent down to the last cricket, in the blink of an eye, that makes my senses go hypervigilant.
I know exactly what you mean. That happened to me once. Turns out a mountain lion was circling our camp. 😱
Always have to pay attention to signs and feelings
Definitely, and if your dog has uncharacteristic actions, you really need to pay attention.
@@louiseallen5298 Agreed, ALWAYS trust your dog!
@@CFarnwide Trust your dog and then do what? It's not like Midnight told him, "Look bro, Slenderman is up in the sitting tree." unless his dog was Lassie and they had to change it's name for this story due to legal precedent.
The best videos from ballen are the ones you discover from a year or two ago that you've not yet seen.
It's like finding buried treasure.
I just discovered him and truly, super stoked
Me just now! Like I was certain I’d seen them all! But I’ve just found this while rewatching all his videos! This scared the shit out of me 😂😂😂
So trueeee
Omg yes
Well said.
So glad you decided to make these videos 😊💚helps me get ready for the day
I've been binging your videos for about a week, and basically you became my bedtime story (even though sometimes I can't sleep after listening)
I feel bad for MrBallens kids when they ask for a bed time story 🤣🤣🤣
lol!!!!!!!
Kids:Hey dad can you tell me a bed time story?
Mr ballen:sure,so once a upon a time,a teen was at a cabin and..................
Kids:😱
This was the kind of story I wanted when I was a kid. My gma told me I would ask everyone for scary stories and then complain they weren't scary enough. If this guy was my dad, I wouldn't have been saying that.

i love the way that this fella tells stories, chill and human, like a feller you meet at a bar who has one to many spooky stories lmao.
ikr! it feels personal
Right!! And hes the type of guy you just believe, like its no way this guy is lying.lol
Yep! Like a teacher who takes what would normally be considered a boring or sh**-subject and-because he himself LOVES the subject- he puts his enthusiasm into the lectures which translates into a talent for story-telling and suddenly the class is one of the best YOU YOURSELF will ever take!
Because the stories are so much fun to listen to, you now have a passion for history or science or English lit! 😁

Totally agree! He's a great story teller... I discovered his channel a couple of days ago and have been watching non stop because of his story telling abilities, so I gladly subscribed!

You could give me the recipe to grandma’s buttermilk biscuits in story form, and I’d still be interested.
And I’d be writing the recipe down
@@cardiacarrest0177 😂 same
When did he add the milk? How much milk did he add? Well the answer was right then and 4 cups. Despite the recommendations from everyone else in the township this alteration to the classic recipe birthed an entirely new dish that would go on to become pancakes today.
@@TheBootyWrangler and I would be so interested
To be fair, grandma's buttermilk is just plain GOOD
This story is definitely the scariest one in my opinion. It makes any Hollywood movie look like child’s play.
These older videos are the fucking BEST. My absolute favorite that I always come back to is Ballen’s own cabin story. Goosebumps every time
This gentlemen tells a story as if he actually witnessed the event and took notes at the same time, well done 👍

Write that down, write that down!
I am amazed by how he remembers each and every single godammn detail
@@tanisha5152 i mean, he's definitely reading from some notes. However I'll agree the delivery is absolutely incredible

Stephanie Harlowe is also an amazing storytelling that goes into great detail. Love listening to her and MrBallen!
I am 57 years old ever since I was a little kid I have been petrified you’re gonna laugh of being alone being alone in the woods being alone in the woods in the dark or be in just about anywhere alone in the dark The story absolutely freaks me out it’s 1018 in the morning it is bright sunshine and I am tripping The best storyteller in the world Mr.B you are thanks for scaring the shit out of me but great story God bless!!!

Mr nightmare - “ Hold my beer “
Mr nightmare is a guy that tells horrifying stories but with sounds 😬
@@s_a_mvr I don’t like his voice all that well. I don’t know what it is. But, Mr. Ballen does add some sounds here & there

this man was terrorized by santa claus
"He sees you when you're sleeping, he knows when you're awake"... cos he's in da bushes lol
First thing I think of when he says man and hoof beats was the adventure time deer that took his hooves off and hand hands. Tbph

Nah it's krampus
I kept thinking, light a fire so the creeper can’t come down the chimney..never thought it might be Santa lol.
Whenever the dogs start to get spooked you know you’re effed
17:06 This sounds just like a story that I heard on Bedtime Stories in their Wendigo video. Now I like to think of myself as a rational person, you know I've got normal fears like flying or swimming (I can keep my head above water in a pool and that's about it), but wendigos...wendigos fucking terrify me. As someone from Oregon, hearing MrBallen talk about my home state constantly makes me never want to go near a forrest, cabin, attic, basement, field, farm, hiking trail, old house, old church, etc, etc.
So.. never go outside then? That list is the entirety of oregon lol
When I find a new channel, I sort by popularity and just go down the list; as an Alaskan, I was not expecting 2 out of 3 of Ballen's greatest hits to be horrific crimes against women in the city I'm living in 😅

The dog looks like he wants to go out side? In the middle of the night, When we are alone, Deep in the woods. Yeeeeaaahhh... sorry doggy pee on floor, I’ll cleaned it up in the morning, I want to live. Hahahahaha
Ikr?!
I concur!
That's what pet stores make pee pads for. Dogs will hold their pee until they practically explode out of fear of being corrected. Please don't ever assume your dog knows to pee on a floor. SMH Pee pads have an attractant that lets the dog know it is a "pee place".
I have the same dilemma every Time my dog or I have to pee in the middle of the night when I am in my cabin deep in the swedish woods. No one Can hear me scream 😂
@@ontherockswithsalt560 or like...don't correct your dog in a way that makes them scared of you?
There are plenty of ways to potty train a dog without using violence or intimidation.

If you live in the city & have your whole life, you don't know what true darkness is. Never pitch black in the city.

@@allamericananti-christ666 I live in a suburban area I went to a cabin in Georgia. My father and mother slept in one room (two story cabin basement was actually first floor) on the second floor and my sister in the other one that left the basement for me. I was completely fine with it but then later in the day after some fun we got home and I wanted to go downstairs, so I open the door and it’s just pitch black so I flip on the light walk down to the first landing and then turn on the second light, I turned on the lamp and then went to bed and that was the three days I stayed in Georgia.
Cities scare me. People scare me.
Nicely done. Read this just as he narrated 😸
I would love to see Llama arts make animations out of your stories. People should watch more woods and cabin horror movies because they're on point.
This one scared me beyond measure! I was laying in bed with my covers up and expecting it to happen to me too, it was horrible, loved it👏🏽
One day, years ago, MrBallen's friend asked him how his day was and for 15 mins he told the most eloquent story of a mundane afternoon and his buddy was like "dude, you should really tell stories". And here we are.
Do you reckon he used to tell stories at night to entertain his unit in the field?
I can picture it so easily, I feel like he probably did. Or if not, those guys majorly missed out.
Without any doubt! Listening to Mr. Ballen tell these stories it's impossible not to realize how he entertained his fellow compatriots and ya gotta know they were as riveted as we are when listening. Back in the very early medieval times Mr. Ballen would have been called a 'bard' or a 'scop ' these people were held in high regard by the people and the king, earl, jarl, or whomever.
"And my mom said, John, can you do the lunch dishes please? B/c my MOOOOM, she had friends coming over to play cards later that day, just like she did EVery WEEK, so this was nothing out of the ordinary. But THIS TIME, I didn't feel like doing dishes just then! I just didn't feel like it. So I told her no I'm gonna go ride my bike with Jeremy down to the lake for a while. And my mom, well, okay then. You did the lunch dishes yesterday so I guess you can take the afternoon off and I'll have your do it. Have a nice time with Jeremy, tell his mom thanks for the casserole dish it really came in handy. And I got on my bike, and I met Jeremy, he was on his bike, and we went down to the lake and had a great afternoon catching frogs."
