I know a lot of DF viewers hate motion blur but I'm underwhelmed by the lack of it in Bayonetta 3's cutscenes. The first two games used a serviceable motion blur effect that really helped sell the dynamism and craziness of the cutscenes even on underpowered hardware, and I think its absence in 3 is why a lot of the cutscenes look kind of weird now.
Add Platinum to the list of developers passive aggressively telling Nintendo they need new hardware, right behind Monolith Soft and Omega Force. Games like this also make me wonder if developers are low key future proofing for a possible backwards compatible successor.
Monolith games ran like shit since the beginning on the switchs launch and still run like shit today. Those are the lowest resolution first party games out there.
Funnily enough, the PS3 version of Bayonetta is the version I played the most back in 2010. Later I got it on the 360, Wii U, PC and Switch. Yup, I guess I'm a fan.
@@mistersurrealist You and many people, PS3 version sold surprisingly well as far as I remember because people just didn't know about technical issues going into a game back then and PlayStation probably was the console that garnered the most hack & slash fans with God of War and Devil May Cry on PS2.
@Spiral It was likely the developers not understanding PS3 cell architect with DMC4 being able to pull out 60fps I believe PS3 was more capable than that
2022 has been a very interesting year for Switch. Lots of games that feel like they are making sacrifices because of the hardware, and still are struggling within the constraints on offer.
Nah not really, just poor optimization for a console that’s hard to optimize for. Xenoblade is proof of that, it came out laggy and glitchy as hell, now it runs better than any of the previous titles lol
@@via_negativa6183 well yes, but as the video shows the 30fps lock in certain gameplay instances & cutscenes works just fine for Bayo 3, not that I like 30fps if I can avoid it but it would look more consistent than the game dropping below 60fps 99% of the time
A visual fidelity comparison to Astral Chain could be interesting. That game targets 30 and seems to have noticeably higher graphical detail. You have to have 60 on Bayonetta though, so hope they can patch it up. Will likely pick it up at some point mind
Ye thats why they needed to constrain the game with small levels but they felt pressured for the 3rd entry to top the previous games in scale but its failing on all fronts . Kinda ironic since bayo 2 is a better looking game that runs better too

@@The_Ostrich 1080p50-60fps with MetalFX in the most stressing village areas, on the base M1 Mac from like 2020 is crap? Maybe do some research before you start typing.
That dithering effect looks really nasty indeed, when it happens even on big boss models when you are up-close and on spell effects. You definitely are going to see it often in this game..
So that's what they call that pixelated transparent effect. I thought it was just a design choice lol. Anyway I almost always play in handheld mode so it doesn't matter that much, everything is tiny 😂
@@TakumiJoyconBoyz Alpha transparency is, even now, just expensive. This is especially true for alphas with smooth transitions in opacity. Smooth alpha transparencies are also very difficult to work with when layered in top of each other, especially with effect animations. I suspect the increased use of it newer games is because at larger resolutions the dithering effect is much less noticeable.
I just saw a video on Platinum’s youtube channel explaining “lining up” attacks. It’s a game changer really, I went from attacking ankles to using Demon Slave in unison with combos. The general idea is that while the demon is attacking, it will queue the next attack which allows you to release ZL, move and attack with Bayonetta, and then press ZL again to keep the Demon combo going, then repeat.
well bayonetta has after burnner kick, double jump ,air combo and can teleport to enemy use them as a trampoline like forever as long as there are enemy she don't need to touch the ground so it his choice to punching monsters ankles
I wonder what the point of going to 810p is. Just staying at 720p would allow for better integer scaling to many common higher res displays, and would make for simpler downscaling to 480 (if that's what the hand-held mode is targetting).
I think the opposite, 720p lock would mean better frame rates instead of getting use out of every tiny pixel to a game that's already dated. At least the pixel change allows for a higher resolution lock once the Switch Pro releases next year with the Nvidia upscale. Yeah I said it! Next year! Definitely maybe but probably improbable and yet plausible.
@@GuyOnTheInternet53 I think nier automata is a good looking game. And as terrible as babylon's fall was I assume it looked next gen. So they can do current gen visuals, it's just the switch's hardware and them not wanting to compromise their vision for gameplay mechanics and scale. And I'm glad they didn't but visuals took a hit for it and performance didn't quite get up to their usual standard. But i think they did try, this is probably why development took so long, as I'm guessing they delayed it trying to get it to a stable 60fps until they reached their limit.
I'm very curious what they'll have to say about Pokemon Scarlet and Violet considering what previews had to say about that game's performance. They honestly make Bayonetta look like a technical marvel.
@_ Sionor Why does that matter? A stable performance is something all games should aim for, no matter what genre. It doesn't need to have ultra crisp and detailed visuals, it just needs to run properly.
Great analysis as always John, another thing I noticed while playing was in handheld mode- the framerate seemed a bit more stable than TV mode. Either way, Platinum have really pushed the hell out of the Switch this time around, and used all techniques they knew to try to keep the framerate as close to the target as possible. But alas, the hardware limitations, as it was. I suppose if the trilogy gets “remastered” for future Nintendo hardware, Bayo 3 would probably run better just like Bayo 1 and 2 runs better on Switch than they ran on the Wii U.
And still, we get hardcore fanboys saying, that the Switch has to be weak, 'cause "it's portable" and "graphics/performance don't matter". I'm so sick of this.
@@malamucik2096 Huh?? You have no idea what you're talking about. The Switch uses 2015 hardware(Nvidias Tegra X1) and launched in 2017. Meanwhile the PS4 uses 2011 HW(Jaguar and GCN) and launched in 2013. The PS4 was far more "obsolete" in 2017 and onwards than the Switch. What ignorant folks like you don't understand is that the Switch has to run its HW at a low power envelope because it is a portable device in a small chassis. The PS4 and PS5 on the other hand can chug on electricity straight from an outlet without relying on batteries, additionally they aren't meant to be handheld and are therefore huge compared to the Switch increasing heat dissipation. It's like calling the PSP which launched in 2005 obsolete versus the Dreamcast that launched in 1998.. They are 2 different platforms with different goals(handheld gaming vs TV gaming).
It is sad for Bayonetta 3 not to have access to a better hardware, but I clearly remenber when Hideki Kamiya said that only Nintendo jumped to the pool for Bayonetta years ago. So it is like being between the sword and the wall,,, you have to work with what you have and try to do the best.
Really sad indeed. Capcom showed how a game like that can sell well. DMC 5 sold 6 million copies and it's an older franchise that was almost murdered when they rebooted it in 2013.
@@SonicTheFrenchHorn That is the most internet thing I've read all day. Like one time in school a classmate was really hungry and said they "were starving" so promptly got a lecture about malnourished children in third world countries. Maybe log off and chill out a bit.
I will never understand this kind of excusing of this exclusivity. I do understand that Platinum as well as Nintendo need to make money, but creating a game is an art to me. If i was a game developer and Nintendo as the only publisher came to offer me a financial help to create a sequel of a certain game in exchange for the game being exclusive only to their console, i would politely thank them for a kind offer and said "no". Why would i want to make the game look bad because of Nintendo hardware limitation? Just to make money? No. The game is my creation, my art and i want to make it look and run as good as possible. I would rather make some different game with different publisher on different hardware and who knows, maybe later some other publisher with better hardware would come to support Bayonetta sequel and i could make it look awesome. Why willingly make it look like garbage?
@@viktorzeman5202 You got the game on more powerfull hardware with different publisher. It is called Babylon's Fall. If they did not partner with Nintendo, alternative would be not having the game. I have been enjoying this a lot. I think the games short comings don't let the game experience down at all. Hoping that dev does some optimization to make the frame rate a bit more stable.
@@DavidHosey1 True and not so true. Obviously there are many great games and achievements but it’s aging hard now. You can’t polish all away with style, more and more compromises are becoming visible. Sadly in games that don’t deserve any. Surely nintendo will milk the switch for some years to come with little upgrade.
@@devmiles I really don’t see it, and most people don’t either. Sure if you break it down to the most minute levels there are some games with compromises being made. But the fact is the system doesn’t age, it literally can’t. It is what it was back when it was made, and even back then people were saying style is leagues more important than realism, especially for Nintendo games. Some say games like Xenoblade 3 are hampered by the system, when the game runs smoothly and is the best in the series performance and visuals-wise. The repeated claims that it’s a weak system that gimps it’s games use examples like that, and it shows hours these claims are predominantly wrong. I’m sure Bayo 3 would’ve looked and played better with better hardware, but the fact that it plays with more stable frames now that patches are out and that it still achieves all that it set out to do shows that the Switch isn’t holding it back Plus, these complaints won’t be around for these games for too much longer, as Nintendo is all but due to release they’re next console as a Switch successor, likely with backwards compatibility, and will continue that modem into the future ongoingly. So all of the games here now that some might have issues with will likely be fixed whenever that releases
Almost glad to see something this ambitious yet messy from them again. Very bold to see Platinum attempt to utilize clear design DNA salvaged from Scalebound (the big demons fighting in real time, definitely something rescued from the Scalebound archives let's be real here) on a humbler system like the Switch.
I would be interested to see the performance graphs on an overclocked Switch. I applied an overclock on mine and it feels like it runs much smoother, not amazing but better for sure.
I'd really like to see you guys review Persona 5 Royal for the Switch. It seems like the sort of game that would be perfect for a portable system if the visuals hold up decently.
I'm almost not surprised. Ever since the debut, I fel it never looked smooth, and the visual quality to me was kind of not the greatest looking in the series. I attribued the latter to maybe my feelings on the art direction, but now it seems like it also is technical as well. This is a shame, but I already pre-ordered my collector edition. I normally don't bother pre-ordering anymore, but I love the Bayonetta series, as they are some of the finest action games around. Pretty much my most looked forward to game in the genre since DMC 5 which was also amazing. I do hope we see an "upgraded" version down the road for the Switch 2 or whatever they call it, because I'm sure we will never see this come PC side ever down the road, so I can only hope for Nintendo to bundle the 3 games together for a slow release cycle on the new hardware or something once in a while.
Switch emulation on PC will "upgrade" this game long before Switch 2 is here. Currently,Ryujinx already got the game running smoothly at 60+fps when in combat and rarely drops below 60. You can choose to upscale the game to 2K or 4K and it will look gorgeous. The only problem with playing the game on emulator right now is delayed audio in cutscenes. Gameplay wise,it is 100% playable.
with every new trailer shown i was baffled by the amount of people saying the game looked great for a switch game when i though it looked worse than Bayonetta 2. Glad i wasnt crazy
I was concerned too and thinking it didn't look smooth. I already have the collector edition pre ordered and coming to me, so I love the series a lot. I'm just baffled everyone else said it looked smooth and great visually when I felt it wasn't really. I'm sad but I hope tonstill be entertained and have fun, but I do hope maybe they release an update to lock at 30 maybe. It seems like that would be best for this, or wait for the next Gen upgrade to Switch 2 someday if it ever happenns.
480P... DAAAAAMNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN. This is a modern game stuck on a cell phone home. It's still boggles the mind that they couldn't find anybody but Nintendo to back up the development of this game. First of all shame on Sega they get the most credit for the reason why we are not being able to enjoy this on modern consoles. But for the love of Christ all the publishers out there and only Nintendo would buy? Is it a sales were absolutely disgustingly terrible or somebody was very bad at business. ...??
This is one of those situations where a modded Switch really does help. I've applied slight overclocks to the CPU, GPU and RAM, and it improves the framerate by about a good 5 to 10 frames depending on the action. But PG has definitely pushed this game somewhat above what the Switch can handle. It's still incredibly impressive though.
That 7 year old SoC is really being pushed to it's absolute limits. I doubt Nvidia ever expected this chip to run games at this scale. It was just meant to be used for cheap Android game boxes.
@@jonathansoko1085Do you even have a modded switch? It can 100% handle it because it's within chip's specs. It was literally built for the "overclocked" speeds but Nintendo limited the ranges for power savings. The temperatures are still perfectly within margins even on max possible clocks.
@@blisphul8084 nah it’s not being pushed to its limits and beyond, especially not when looking at the rest of the system. The Switch is a perfect example of how a system can last and keep being pushed through generations way further than many would expect, and that it’s more due to the optimization of all that a game demands that would cause a system to lag behind. The Switch is undoubtedly less powerful than current gen, but the fact that it can keep up at what would be negligible losses for the average person is impressive and telling
Such an amazing action game limited by hardware. And the chances of it ending up on other hardware is unlikely, as the game is fully funded by Nintendo, so they may as well own the game at this point.
Would be interesting to compare this and SMT V's Tokyo since SMT also had some visual issues on Switch, but still made it's environments look fantastic
Not comparable. All you do in SMTV's environments is traversal, battles are turn-based in separate screens. Bayonetta is fast paced action with characters, huge monsters, summons, effects all on screen at the same time

Less demanding from graphical point of view. To achieve above 30 fps platinum need to reduce, texture, effect or what ever it is to make the game playable above 30 fps. The method of optimization is also different too
Not bad, for mobile hardware from 5 years ago. I knew the frame drops were constant but it didn't bother me too much, frames are unlocked so I'll just assume it'll play at a steady 60 come next Switch, no patch required.
I'm kinda surprised to see those massivd framedrops. I'm several hours into the game and I never even thought about fps because it felt perfectly fine to play the entire time.
Some people are more sensible than others with unstable framerate. I was fine with RE2 Remake dropping to 50fps for example, but other people can't stand it
Dropping from 60 usually doesn’t bother me that much either. Especially compared to dropping from 30. It is very different dropping from 60 to 40 compared to dropping from 30 to 20. That said I’d rather it hit 60 more often. I’ll see how I feel when I play the game. But first I will play Star Ocean The Devine Force. Another game with frame drops.
I play PC game on a 144hz monitor. Most games don't hit that mark, but they usually run above 60. I really don't care about bayonetta 3's performance. It feels great to play, and I just got done playing DMC5.
Yeah, Im sensible to fps but this game feels smooth to me. Its a shame how everything gets reduced to numbers here, i dont care how unstable it seems in this analysis, the reality is: it feels smooth
@@jonr7364 I'm really tired of the huge amount of pop in that too many switch games have, the constant and major drop in frames, and the nauseous, blurry resolutions. Fanboys are always creating excuses like, "Nintendo games are not about the best graphics and framerate", "gameplay is the most important thing." yeah sure, gameplay is one of the most important things, but creative gameplay is also being limited by the switch's extreme lack of power. Think about how many ideas had to be scrapped for tears of the kingdom, simply because the switch isn't able to handle those ideas.
Absolutely bang-up job, John, as usual. You've always got a keen eye for these details and I love how much passion you bring into videos on games you really care about. I will say that I've played through Chapter 5 so far, and I did actually run into one b-tier cutscene that's a slideshow of animated screenshots. I'm wowed that there's so few, but just wanted to point out they DO exist in Bayonetta 3.
Can I say just how much I hate this weird current trend of dithered transparency? It makes the whole image look so noisy! I'm glad somebody else has pointed it out because I've looked like a crazy man for the past year and a half playing Phantasy Star Online 2: New Genesis, which does the same thing everywhere with its transparency. Really wish there was just an option to turn it off, performance be damned.

@@skyyswaggstudios2934 Well that because Nintendo couldn´t give a damn about specs. You have to talk about the Original Wii which was really behind of the PS3 and X360 in terms of specs
My biggest issue with the art direction, and many other current games’ art direction, is the reliance on desaturated backgrounds / environments smothered in neon & bright colors. It feels like the two extremes are spreading each other thin. I’m not sure why so many games & movies opt for this direction.
This is what I'm talking about! As the guy who ran the Bayonetta 2 and Bayonetta for Wii U marketing campaigns for North America at Nintendo, I was immediately surprised at the frame rates that I've been experiencing with this new title. It performs like a pre-alpha build. John, I agree with you on the tech revamp suggestion. The resolution variation, framerate, and dithering rub me wrong, but as a fan since Xbox 360 days and member of "the old guard" I owe it to my team to play this one to the end... demon ankles be damned!
Picked up my Masquerade Edition yesterday and am blown away at the stylish presentation, gameplay, and general spectacle of it all! Conversely just like Xenoblade 3, I agree, I find myself wondering “what if” this was on a super Switch. Usually at the end of a systems life cycle the best game that utilize the hardware come out. With my Switch I feel like that time has come and gone and we’re getting games that are too big for the unit… Lovely game tho, action fans, please pick up and enjoy👌🏾
I know right? I wish they eventually made their way to pc or a more powerful console, specially xenoblade, is crystal clear monolith craves to create a bigger world and they're limited to what Nintendo consoles can do.
Plan to pick this up physically.. Looks aight and looks like it runs better than Hyrule Warriors.. Aside from the Resolution which honestly isn't that important anyway
I definetly noticed that Astral Chain looked better, and atleast expected Bayonetta 3 to look on par. But I have to say that the game is amazing and I really enjoyed the main story. Now I'm going to deal with the collectibles and challenges.
I can't help but feel that this game will be so much better on the PC by emulation, locked at 4k/60 and with a texture pack to improve the visuals. It kinda looks a bit of a mess on the visual and performance front on the Switch, with very inconsistent visuals and honestly, looking at this, this is one of the few cases where I want to play the game on the PC with the enhancements over the Switch.
The Switch Is a handheld. And it was top notch hardware when it released. VERY OLD is not what I would call it. Aging is the right word. If 5+ years is VERY OLD then PS5s and XBXs 2years is OLD. And I highly doubt people would call these consoles old. The problem with Switch is NOT the hardware its people not knowing what to do with it. I mean look at Alien isolation on PS3/360. Look at GTA5 on PS3 and 360. You cant tell me that a hybrid like switch thats much more powerful has problems with games such as bayonetta 2 and now 3 running at 720p. Alien Isolation is also on Switch and this is the LEAST I expect from a new Metroid game for example (Halo4 also was phenomenal on 360 back then and was made by some former Metroid Prime devs)

People that think this will affect thwir enjoyment of the game... Bayonetta 2 ran just as inconsistently on Wii U. And it was one of the best action games ever regardless. I'm nor worried about performance at all.
"Lack of polish" is a pretty significant understatement here. Bayonetta 2 came out 8 years ago and it (still) looks incredible. Astral Chain was on Switch, also developed by Platinum, and it's stunning. This looks like an MMO trying to run on the Wii. Seriously, this game is absolutely hideous to look at and it drives me nuts how many critics and Nintendo fanboys don't seem to care. I'm fine with them recasting but couldn't they have chosen a British actress? Americans doing bad impressions of UK people in games should be a thing of the past by now. It's *the current year*. Bothers me in Zelda too.
They probably wouldn't do a video about the switch on its own as it wouldn't be that interesting as it performs fine with the expected cuts to resolution and textures. A multiplatform comparison would be a better video
Nintendo need to release a Switch Tegra T239 ASAP !!! Announcing it in Jan 2023 and release in May 2023 with BOTW2. It's so stupid if Nintendo still not rectify resolution & frame rate issues for many big AAA Switch games
Maybe it's because I'm not closely paying attention to technical inconsistencies in games like these but for Switch it actually looks pretty good, and I imagine playing in handheld mode will probably mitigate a lot of the visual constraints anyway. P5R is another recent Switch game that runs at 540p with 720p UI in portable play but it straight up looks incredible in Handheld Mode regardless
P5R is a completely different genre, comparing it to Bayonetta in terms of how performance and rendering limitations impact playability is ridiculous. Bayonetta games rely heavily on player reaction speed, mechanical skill, and hyper-awareness of enemy positioning and animations. P5R vs Bayo3 is like an apples vs screwdrivers comparison
Nintendo ought a consider more powerful hardware. Xenoblade 3 is another game that graphically was held back by the Switches aging SOC. It's only gonna get worse.
I just got into this series of games back in 2019 when I got my switch (that is now almost 4 years old) and completed the first game probably last year or way earlier this year (it’s one those two I think) I’m currently playing through the second game and finding all the collectibles and getting the teqniques and whatnot. might go back to the first to get what I definitely missed. Maybe, by the time I’m done with all of that, bayo 3’s performance issues will ironed out and I can a good time playing it…hopefully
Would love to see this on better hardware. Actually i'm sure some people will get this running on PC with raytracing etc. So would be interesting to see if the game even scales that way.
Bought my swich 4 years ago mainly for the promised bayonetta3 and metroid prime 4... today we have only one of those 2 games and at this point I really wished that game didn't come out on switch, but waited for the next console. Now the only thing I can do (because I am not playing it which such a bad frame delivery) is wait for a switch2 version improving framerate (a bit like the switch version did for the wiiu version). But even then I probably won't be fully happy since the environnement will still look the way they do... I wish I lived in the alternate universe where bayonetta kept on being released on XBOX and PS or even PC, this game with unlocked performance could be a true gem.
Backwards Compatibility is basically industry standard right now, plus Nintendo absolutely _loves_ backwards compatibility -because they can keep selling 10 year old games for full price without even having to port them- so saying that the next Nintendo system is going to be backwards compatible is probably the safest bet ever.

Edit: I've played about 8 hours now and I can say that if you can overclock your switch for this game, and don't mind the temps getting high (70c max) you should. The game runs flawlessly outside of those first few chapters, with very rare frame drops that last just a few milliseconds. Also, this game is fucking epic. Platinum really did one-up themselves.

@John Smith Oh yeah, I had forgotten about it. When I first played Odyssey I thought it reminded me of how the Sega Saturn displayed 'transparencies'.
@@TakumiJoyconBoyz Alpha transparency is, even now, just expensive. This is especially true for alphas with smooth transitions in opacity. So, like playing a Souls game. Gotcha.
As is tradition
The loading screen transitions were my favorite it was so shocking to see that they made that happen
I wonder what the point of going to 810p is. Just staying at 720p would allow for better integer scaling to many common higher res displays, and would make for simpler downscaling to 480 (if that's what the hand-held mode is targetting).
That is what also bug's me.

It kinda looks a bit of a mess on the visual and performance front on the Switch, with very inconsistent visuals and honestly, looking at this, this is one of the few cases where I want to play the game on the PC with the enhancements over the Switch.
What i take from this is that they used every trick in the book to get the game run as well as possible on an aging (very old in fact) hardware.

Alien Isolation is also on Switch and this is the LEAST I expect from a new Metroid game for example (Halo4 also was phenomenal on 360 back then and was made by some former Metroid Prime devs)
@@clg2445 The Switch never had impressive hardware lmao, the Vita had impressive hardware for its time, and the Steam Deck has impressive hardware for its time. The Switch, like most Nintendo consoles, is clearly produced in a tighter budget.

I started playing a bit ago and I was a little surprised by the low resolution of some assets. Graphics don't mean all that much to me but as pretty as the game is it's still a bit rough
I would have liked them to just make it look as good as 2 to be able to hit the FPS target. Don't need the fancy effects and textures. But gamers would have cried foul...

Breath of the wild 2 which is slated for mid 2023 is still releasing on the switch. We won’t see a “switch pro” for some years if it’s even gonna happen
No, its not gonna happen, cause they're not releasing a Pro console after 6 years, thats like if the PS4 Pro and One X came out in 2019. You might see a Switch 2 in fall 2023 though.

but Nintendo is paying so it will stay Switch exclusive. I cannot believe there is no other publisher that wanted to co-publish the IP
Me too. Capcom were fucking idiots for not chucking money at Bayonetta when the IP was up for grabs.
@@SaberRexZealot Why would they though?? They have DMC which sold way more. Bayo 1 sold less than 1 million copies. DMC franchise at than point had already sold like 15 million copies. This dithering effect for transparency is where we note the most that it is a switch game!
People need to stop underestimating the switch. It’s a mini Marvel that innovated the way we play games forever. I will always defend the switch while not perfect. It’s a great system with the best software library and the best of exclusives.
The title of your video sums up the whole game quite perfectly
I would have been curious to hear about the performance and general impression of the game in handheld mode. Usually these shortcomings are easier to look past on the much smaller screen.
Frame rate is a little better, but the super low resolution in combination with all these other issues make it feel very rough in portable
It looks great on portable, the resolution is not that low at all, fps feels good too
It's a 360p UA-cam video. During the intro mission where you're on the boat during a storm and the camera is far from Bayonetta I'm pretty sure the resolution is 360p. It's not bad, it's unplayable.
@@gaetanoisgro6710 lol I would've imagined someone commenting on that if it were that bad!
The dithering is all over the place in handheld
The frame rate hurts a little bit, here’s to hoping backwards compatibility is a thing with the next generation. (Rather than buying a second time just to get consistent performance)
I would like to see if Overclocking the GPU could help to lock to 60fps
modded switch owners eating good :)
Can confirm that even max GPU overclock doesn't help a lot.
(UPD) CPU overlcock also need's to be applied. This game is more CPU intensive than B2. It helps but it's still not locked to 60 and there still memory clocks limitation constraining performance.
@@saaaaaaaaadasda So it must not be well optimized for Switch. Bizzare...
@@LoliconSamalik They trying to pull off what hardware can't achieve. They should stick to B2 rendering budget and HD resolution, that would make it almost locked at 60fps, as was B2 in Docked mode.
Modern Vintage Gamer made a video about overclocking for bayonetta 3, it does help but the main problem is that the memory bandwidth of the switch is so slow. so overclocking wont achieve 60fps
Really now, we're going back to 480p gaming? If only the visuals held up, I'd be willing to forgive but these textures look straight-up PS3 era military shooter.
Never liked in game cut scenes that simply use the Games assets and in game models. Pre rendered cut scenes from the PS1 / PS2 Era still look better than most modern Games, lol. That said, this looks really good : )
People that think this will affect thwir enjoyment of the game...
Considering how much the Bayonetta franchise is all about spectacle, this severely hampers the enjoyability.
In a game where you fuck everything up doing crazy combos most people don't give a shit if it doesnt look amazing
Cry more?
@@pedrogoncalves4585 But it doesn't run amazing either, so trade off that Platinum between fps and graphics choose nothing. And please don't even try to pretend that framerate doesn't matter in a fast-paced action game like this, especially on maximum difficulty.

Nintendo need to release a Switch Tegra T239 ASAP !!! Announcing it in Jan 2023 and release in May 2023 with BOTW2. It's so stupid if Nintendo still not rectify resolution & frame rate issues for many big AAA Switch games
Below 480p in portable mode. Jesus Christ....

Unfiltered, raw, low res dithering like that is absolutely horrid.
Maybe, by the time I’m done with all of that, bayo 3’s performance issues will ironed out and I can a good time playing it…hopefully
never played one. wanted to play the 2 but it was blury
Let's dance boys!!!
Would love to see this on better hardware.
Actually i'm sure some people will get this running on PC with raytracing etc. So would be interesting to see if the game even scales that way.
This game is a reason why i hope the Switch 2 is backwards compatible so it can run at a constant 60
Every time there's a new Switch exclusive, despite having a Switch, I always think "I wish I didn't have to play this on Switch"
I don't understand why this game is not released on PC. It's a missed opportunity. I would buy if it were.
Because bayonetta is pretty much a nintendo ip cause they help finance the sequels but who knows what could happen
Bayonetta appears to be a game crying out in vain for Nintendo to build a successor to the Switch.
Loved the XBOX 360 version of the original!
I'm praying for a backward compatible Switch 2 at this point.
Backwards Compatibility is basically industry standard right now, plus Nintendo absolutely _loves_ backwards compatibility -because they can keep selling 10 year old games for full price without even having to port them- so saying that the next Nintendo system is going to be backwards compatible is probably the safest bet ever.
This is the first Nintendo console that isn't backwards compatable in the last 10+ years. Doing better than Sony at this point lol.

I started playing this game last night and had to literally move a few feet back fro my screen it was so blurry, and this is on a fully overclocked switch. Excited to see what John has to say.
I thought the Fxaa was going crazy, I literally had to play the farthest from the TV. And those cinematics are on 144p
Well, I guess resolution is not that bad, I'm just not used to switch games. No DRS?
My overclocked switch should handle the frame-rate way better despite many hiccups I've already noticed in the prologue, so at least there's that.
@@Shredder2898 well... Maybe? I still feeling lack of optimization :'c but hopefully they're gonna patch some of them, I saw the patch 1.0.0 to the 1.10 improve the cinematics quality.
For playing handheld with max clock is really good even some drops. Cause game to bombastic your brain focus in gameplay instead inconsistent under 60fps. And yes astral chain is more consistent with max oc cause the game scope is small
@@napoleonvasquez5034 I played more and after those first few chapters the game runs pretty much locked 60 if you can overclock.
dang seeing the framerate dips on the graphs was surprising. I knew the game wasnt holding a constant 60 but I'll be honest, it never felt like it was dipping that low if at all. Maybe just cause its so fast paced? Or maybe its just me being blind to it lol.
But I totally agree that this game will likely get an enhanced version on the next Switch. It almost seems like Platinum was kinda crossing their fingers for a Switch Pro or Switch 2 during development.
I've just been playing Gotham Shites, I don't think the performance issues here will bother me.
