On the Turning Away: Studio Solo - Pink Floyd by Santosh Kuppens

  • Yet another ‪@pinkfloyd‬ cover!
    Taken from the album 'A Momentary Lapse of Reason', I've decided to do this cover of 'On the Turning Away', now getting as close as possible to the beautiful studio version of this solo. It's a tough one, many details with that whammy bar.. For me, guitar-wise, the late 80s, early 90s are the pinnacle of ‪@davidgilmour‬ 's guitar skills, combining melody and technique seemingly effortlessly..
    The sound is now coming from my newly bought Line 6 Pod GO. What a machine!
    Fender MIM Stratocaster
    Logic Pro X
    Rating and/or comment would be appreciated!
    - No copyright infringement intended, just dedicating my love to Pink Floyd's music, that's all :)

    Hi Santosh,
    I just wanted to take a moment to let you know how much I appreciate your talent.
    Your Pink Floyd covers are absolutely amazing! You capture the essence of their music so beautifully.
    Keep up the fantastic work-I'm a huge fan!

      Yes, pretty unique in the guitar soloing world I think. Steve Rothery also has those long-noted dreamy solos, but they are a rarity. :)

    Nice solo how long does something like this take you to learn as in memorize.
    Then how much practice have you put in to master that.

    • @SantoshKuppens
      @SantoshKuppens  2 роки тому

      Hey Brendan, sorry for the late answer here.
      It starts by listening to the piece, which is something I've been doing since a long time, multiple years. So I know the lines inside out. When having played quite some of the repertoire of David Gilmour, the lines he plays come very natural. They are in the same collection of licks so to say.
      Memorising it takes me a day or three. Getting all the details right (well, not saying I have, there is still room for improvement) takes me a week or two. Especially with this one, there are a lot of details.
