I believe Easterman sees a little bit of himself in Franco. A long time (and I mean almost a year old) theory that I have about Easterman is that he was on the receiving end of an overbearing mother, and as a result, he has "complex" feelings about mothers. Basing this off of, so far, unreleased voice lines where he makes an alarming amount of comments about his mother and mothers in general. Like, emotionally charged comments and rants. His own mother coddled and controlled him, probably as a result of his older brother leaving to go enlist in the military. There's no mention of Easterman's father (just a quick memory of an uncle at a farm), so I'm not sure if he's in the picture. From other comments, his mother was so overbearing that he hated her... but other comments showed her a "doting", all-knowing, mother. Also, weird lines where it gives the impression that his mother treated him as if he was a daughter. There's a line specifically stating that she used to wrap his head in a towel pretending that it was long hair and how beautiful he would look if he was a girl: "The toy factory. Therapy here is like time travel. Perfect unwinding. My mother used to wrap a towel around my head and say, "You would've made such a pretty girl." Hmm. What did you want to be when you grew up?" The comments Easterman makes after being poisoned and losing his hair brought that back to me, because he is literally *mourning* his hair loss. I wonder if Murkoff knew this little tidbit about him and is exploiting it? And I also think he channels his mother sometimes... where I think he's soft and nurturing to the reagents when they do what he expects of them. But other times, like when the reagent wants to leave before they're ready, there's a line where he's derangedly *incensed*. Once I remember the line, I will add it, but I genuinely think he was repeating what his mother said to him when he left for college to get away from her. ETA: This is the line "Why are you working so hard to leave this place? For supposed freedom? Where would you have more freedom than here? You'd do anything you want here. The ingratitude." And two more lines: "Embrace the indifference of the world. Learn to separate correlation from causation. Your birth was an accident, and your mother would've killed you if she could. Just to keep you from leaving her." "You were never good enough for her. I know I never was. You were never good enough. So... why would you change your behavior to accommodate someone you hate."
Fascinating comment, and I myself was not aware of the existence of these lines. If RB decided to put them into the finished game, then this theory would be rock solid. However, I’m a little bit skeptical of making unused assets canon. Still, really good comment and theory

I personally think that Easterman will become a prime asset in the future. I think that his superiors or whoever in his team are slowly poisoning him, making him become mad and that he'll become so unstable, they'll use him for the trials. Imagine him babbling about how the reagents must achieve rebirth and how he will help them. Also I think that the next prime asset will be a cinema actor. The 60's are the years where cinema got bigger and I think Red Barrels will use it to make a mad man that wants to become an A list actor and who thinks that the reagents are trying to sabotage his career, with him being approached by Murkoff to "Create a masterpiece in the cinema with him in the center."
One of my own theories about Easterman branched off in the 'he'll be a Prime Asset' line. I'm still leaning more on Murkoff/Wernicke performing their own experiment, making him a charismatic god-like figure that we see in Outlast 2. Plus, I believe he's already a Prime Asset... more like a Proto-Prime Asset because he was scouted out first, and maybe his brother's situation was manufactured by Murkoff to trap Easterman because he wanted to find out the truth about his brother's death. But, I can still see them making him into the forth one.
Technically Easterman imho is the perfect candidate for MK Ultra, and because of this they wanted him to be a prime asset they made, by that I mean not an outsider like the others, only problem with it is that as with all things like this, he will become out of control and a liability
Wow cinema actor sounds like such a fun idea!!! Maybe something that would align with the depravity of the game is a sex-addicted bombshell who looks like Jayne Mansfield? would love that! A steve McQueen-esque character would work well too but I’d like to see how they work with another female expop other than mother gooseberry

with the new lore we got its pretty clear they are set ups for new arcs that will probably get touched upon as we get more seasonal updates. but i want to know how old simon peacock is and how he looks relatively normal when he meets up with waylon in the whistleblower dlc.
I think they just used a generic asylum patient model for Peacock and put him in the shadows. Unless of course, Peacock sent someone else on his behalf

In light of all the lore on the obsession Easterman seems to have with recruiting people who have charisma, one underrated figure in the Outlast series has stood out to me: "Father" Martin Archimbaud from Outlast 1. So far there doesn't seem to be any lore on him, but in the first game he clearly displays these signs of extreme charisma and is able to rally most of the inmates at Mount Massive to worship the Walrider. He also interestingly doesn't appear to be scarred from exposure to the Morphogenic engine like the others but clearly has some "relationship" with the Walrider. Could it be that he was transferred from the Sinyala facility and/or was originally a reagent similar to Sullivan Knoth? There doesn't seem to be any additional info on his background and I'm wondering if the Outlast Trials will reveal lore on him like they did on Knoth.
No idea. But I think Father Martin’s arc could be as simple as someone who worships the Walrider in the same way the ex-pops seem to worship Easterman as some sort of god

It may be a stretch but could Dorris be seeing Miles and Blake as the figures in her visions? Miles became a ghost when possessed by the Walrider and Blake carried the “Antichrist” baby at the end of Outlast 2. If correct the potentially supernatural connotations would add such a cool layer to an already horrifying and mysterious story.
@@Giannaccccand whistleblower dlc too this game take place in 1963 other games and dlc take place in 2013 so many many years into future this game is basically them just starting out and dlc and other games take place into their ending so there is a whole lot of potential lores and games that could take place between those time point. The moment Harry talked about the facility making drugs and its in the 60's, I actually thought it was about the contras. Then again, I won't be surprise if the game would eventually reveal the project's involvement with that too.

Nice lore video, I think something crazy is gonna happen with Easterman & Noakes but its not gonna be good. I could also see "Whitehorn" being the Fourth Prime Asset cause there's been some demand for him to be added (uncancelled) plus his name was mentioned by name through some objects within Franco Barbi's trial "Poison the Medicine" and I could see Whitehorn being "the uncle" since Franco Barbi is "the Son"
I'm not sure, since they've taken away Prescott's gun he'd just end up being a big grunt type enemy. I've always hoped Easterman would become a prime asset in the future
@@abe9458 Red Barrels could give "Whitehorn" a chainsaw & change up his character design. Originally Whitehorn was gonna get the shotgun but Red Barrels later decided to give the shotgun to Franco Barbi instead

I don't know if you do requests, but is it possible you could do an episode on The Suffering? It's the game's 20th anniversary this year and the first horror game I played that I didn't and I've played it off and on every year around Halloween since its release. It doesn't have the most complex story like the ones you've covered in your other videos, but I think it's a story that is worth recapping.
I can't wait until they add the "escape" game mode. I can see it being a roguelike game mode with permadeath for your current regent if you die/fail. Would be great if the setting is a riot. That way enemies can stay the same. With maybe the inclusion of a guard variant. I wanna be able to explore the actual base, not just the trials.

Nice video bud!, i enjoyed watching your game explanations especially the popular horror games like amnesias due to the lore. I wish you could make explanation videos on Fear and Hunger, also Fear and Hunger 2 since the games look very scary including its scenery and monsters. I thought itll have very good lore too of what actually happen in those places. Sadly not many ppl make an explanation story of fear and hungers...
Something I’d like to point out about the water used in the docs environment: Because they are in the Arizona desert, Moses voices that the amount of water needed for the environmental would be impossible to accumulate, to wich Easterman replies that they should simply use "any liquid." This is interesting to me, because in Outlast 2, when Blake reaches the Lake that sits closely to Sinyala, he notes that something is decidedly off about it, even cultist settlements seem abandoned, there are dead fish everywhere, and a man is seen walking into the lake to commit suicide. Add the fact that Lynn states that Anna Lee must’ve lived "downstream from some heavy industry" because of all the mercury in her system leads me to believe, that that lake may have been contaminated with whatever fluid was used in the docs environment. Personally I kind of WANT it to be perflourcarbon, because that’s the same fluid the variants in Mount Massive’s Morphogenic engine room are suspended in, but whatever it is, I have a STRONG feeling that the docs and the lake are connected
Dorris is a pretty interesting character like Noakes and emily and the fact she says man with a baby and blake had his bady at the end of outlast 2 how would she know 🤔 I'm curious to see were they take the story.

Bah! I want to watch your Outlast Trials but a could friends and I recently started playing and I'm enjoying figuring out the story organically. Almost to the end of the first batch of trials and about to do my first attempt at escaping!
While the Outlast lore is really well done and very interesting, it's a bit too depressing when you think about how Murkoff aren't some secret organization but are in fact linked with the government and CIA, so it's doubtful that they'll ever be stopped and that the series big bad will lose, in all likelihood things will just keep getting worse

Not sure what's happening there exactly but he's not doing an awful lot, I have an idea that seeing as Walrider destroys the engine tower at the end of 2, maybe Outlast 3 will take place in the facility, so we'll see all the old and new stuff from Trials and probably meet a very old and very insane Skinner Man

My personal thought is the next Prime Asset will take the role of a sort of religious figure- especially considering how the "family" is now complete and there wouldn't be much else to add on. Maybe they'll be a cult leader (think that might be a bit too early tho, i knew cults got a BOOM in the '70s) or some other type of person people have a habit of deifying (like a tortured artist, band member, etc., etc.) Either way, Red Barrels have been cooking with this game and I'm always glad to plunk my arse down on the chair and watch Gaming Harry explain the lore to me so i dont gotta go hunting for it. (Curse of being a scaredy cat that loves horror)

When I read the first of the two last documents I immediately thought of Simon Peacock when it mentioned maggots. Idk why but for the new ending, for some reason, I was expecting Simon Peacock to break through the door considering how “promising” he is. As for Dorris, could she somehow be one of the three dreamers mentioned in that last document in Whistleblower, since she’s having visions of figures like the Walrider and Blake Langerman from the future?
I know I'm late, but that last bit -- have you looked into egregores? That might be the term you're looking for re: the Skinnerman manifesting and growing stronger due to the Jungian concept of the collective unconscious. I'm actually not sure if they're connected "academically" but still a potential neat concept! I also wanted to say that I love your videos! I had been dipping my toe into the horror genre before I looked up Outlast lore (due to a fanfic I liked lol) and found your video shortly after it was posted, and I've been following ever since! I've probably left this comment a few times, but I can't overemphasize how important your videos have been to me getting more interested in horror as a genre, in and out of games I also appreciate all the research you put into this! In my opinion yes.. way better than outlast 2 and it's close to being up there with outlast 1... It's amazing how they did something different but it still feels like outlast

In light of all the lore on the obsession Easterman seems to have with recruiting people who have charisma, one underrated figure in the Outlast series has stood out to me: "Father" Martin Archimbaud from Outlast 1. So far there doesn't seem to be any lore on him, but in the first game he clearly displays these signs of extreme charisma and is able to rally most of the inmates at Mount Massive to worship the Walrider. He also interestingly doesn't appear to be scarred from exposure to the Morphogenic engine like the others but clearly has some "relationship" with the Walrider. Could it be that he was transferred from the Sinyala facility and/or was originally a reagent similar to Sullivan Knoth? There doesn't seem to be any additional info on his background and I'm wondering if the Outlast Trials will reveal lore on him like they did on Knoth.
No idea. But I think Father Martin’s arc could be as simple as someone who worships the Walrider in the same way the ex-pops seem to worship Easterman as some sort of god

It may be a stretch but could Dorris be seeing Miles and Blake as the figures in her visions? Miles became a ghost when possessed by the Walrider and Blake carried the “Antichrist” baby at the end of Outlast 2. If correct the potentially supernatural connotations would add such a cool layer to an already horrifying and mysterious story.
I don’t think so due to the time periods it wouldn’t add up outlast trials takes place way before the start of 1 & 2!
@@Giannaccccand whistleblower dlc too this game take place in 1963 other games and dlc take place in 2013 so many many years into future this game is basically them just starting out and dlc and other games take place into their ending so there is a whole lot of potential lores and games that could take place between those time point. Between 1963 and 2013.

The moment Harry talked about the facility making drugs and its in the 60's, I actually thought it was about the contras. Then again, I won't be surprise if the game would eventually reveal the project's involvement with that too.

Nice lore video, I think something crazy is gonna happen with Easterman & Noakes but its not gonna be good. I could also see "Whitehorn" being the Fourth Prime Asset cause there's been some demand for him to be added (uncancelled) plus his name was mentioned by name through some objects within Franco Barbi's trial "Poison the Medicine" and I could see Whitehorn being "the uncle" since Franco Barbi is "the Son"

I'm not sure, since they've taken away Prescott's gun he'd just end up being a big grunt type enemy. I've always hoped Easterman would become a prime asset in the future

I don't know if you do requests, but is it possible you could do an episode on The Suffering? It's the game's 20th anniversary this year and the first horror game I played that I didn't and I've played it off and on every year around Halloween since its release. It doesn't have the most complex story like the ones you've covered in your other videos, but I think it's a story that is worth recapping.

I wish you could make explanation videos on Fear and Hunger, also Fear and Hunger 2 since the games look very scary including its scenery and monsters. I thought itll have very good lore too of what actually happen in those places.

Something I’d like to point out about the water used in the docs environment:
Because they are in the Arizona desert, Moses voices that the amount of water needed for the environmental would be impossible to accumulate, to wich Easterman replies that they should simply use "any liquid." This is interesting to me, because in Outlast 2, when Blake reaches the Lake that sits closely to Sinyala, he notes that something is decidedly off about it, even cultist settlements seem abandoned, there are dead fish everywhere, and a man is seen walking into the lake to commit suicide.
Add the fact that Lynn states that Anna Lee must’ve lived "downstream from some heavy industry" because of all the mercury in her system leads me to believe, that that lake may have been contaminated with whatever fluid was used in the docs environment. Personally I kind of WANT it to be perflourcarbon, because that’s the same fluid the variants in Mount Massive’s Morphogenic engine room are suspended in, but whatever it is, I have a STRONG feeling that the docs and the lake are connected

While the Outlast lore is really well done and very interesting, it's a bit too depressing when you think about how Murkoff aren't some secret organization but are in fact linked with the government and CIA, so it's doubtful that they'll ever be stopped and that the series big bad will lose, in all likelihood things will just keep getting worse

Not sure what's happening there exactly but he's not doing an awful lot, I have an idea that seeing as Walrider destroys the engine tower at the end of 2, maybe Outlast 3 will take place in the facility, so we'll see all the old and new stuff from Trials and probably meet a very old and very insane Skinner Man

My personal thought is the next Prime Asset will take the role of a sort of religious figure- especially considering how the "family" is now complete and there wouldn't be much else to add on.
Maybe they'll be a cult leader (think that might be a bit too early tho, i knew cults got a BOOM in the '70s) or some other type of person people have a habit of deifying (like a tortured artist, band member, etc., etc.)
Either way, Red Barrels have been cooking with this game and I'm always glad to plunk my arse down on the chair and watch Gaming Harry explain the lore to me so i dont gotta go hunting for it. (Curse of being a scaredy cat that loves horror)

There are already a ton of Batman villains who are designed to look/act like mobsters. This guy fits right in!

I know I'm late, but that last bit -- have you looked into egregores? That might be the term you're looking for re: the Skinnerman manifesting and growing stronger due to the Jungian concept of the collective unconscious. I'm actually not sure if they're connected "academically" but still a potential neat concept!
I also wanted to say that I love your videos! I had been dipping my toe into the horror genre before I looked up Outlast lore (due to a fanfic I liked lol) and found your video shortly after it was posted, and I've been following ever since! I've probably left this comment a few times, but I can't overemphasize how important your videos have been to me getting more interested in horror as a genre, in and out of games

In my opinion yes.. way better than outlast 2 and it's close to being up there with outlast 1... It's amazing how they did something different but it still feels like outlast
As much as i dislike live service games, its always a treat to hear Harry explain games with complex narrative and lore.
I do hope we get outlast 3 soon.
