Just want to thank you for what you do, a lot of these games I'm too anxious to actually play, but the lore is super intriguing so I still get to experience them.
Admitting you’re too scared to play these is kinda funny ngl but I agree his content is great and covers a lot of good stuff some that you couldn’t know from playing just the game.
Try Trials. I was the same way with Outlast 1 and 2. I didn't wanna play them but I loved the lore. Im a chicken but having a blast in Trials. It's easier to handle the scares with a group lol
Red Barrels has outdone themselves… I’ve heard some people say that the update was minorly lackluster from a gaming standpoint… I love it. All things aside.. the amount of historical alignment and understudy for the sake of lore is spectacular. They have consistently proven to Outlast fans that they do love this game. Thank you Red Barrels.
I honestly love the outlast trials. I’m fascinated with how they use real world things like MK Ultra, or project paperclip to further there story. I also love learning about these projects. Thanks man!
You should look into the Montreal Experiments :) they’re not really a part of the outlast story but it was the Canadian extension of MKUltra headed up by the same people. The CIA is responsible for some truly fucked up stuff
I love that you go into the background history instead of just regurgitating basic info directly from the game! It gives much needed context for the overall story. And I agree with the fact that probably since day one, my theory is even before that, Easterman is being subject to some higher, overaching experiment by Murkoff but more specifically Dr. Wernicke. And if he's the 'god' of Temple Gate, then... ...I love Outlast! ETA: So, hold on a moment. The Korean POW thing that the CIA/Murkoff pulled Easterman into in the very beginning was based fundamentally a lie? All Easterman originally wanted to know, to understand, what happened to his older brother Stanley during the Korean War. I *really* think Easterman was scouted out by the CIA/Murkoff (like a prime-prime asset) before he even was approached by the CIA. My theory is that his 'research' in Hong Kong was a test and he somehow passed when he accidentally generated enough trauma in one of the subjects to briefly summon the Skinnerman. Just a theory.
Unless the Skinnerman is represented in a different way to different groups of people. Maybe the Skinnerman took on a different form for the HK POWs, than that of Easterman to the Reagents. For example, the Skinnerman to BLAKE, could’ve been the entity in the school, which was of course a representation of how he saw Loutermilch.
@GamingHarryYT Agreed. I also believe the ongoing deeper fan theory that this phenomenon(?) is unique to the Outlast universe. It is an entity that has a unique appearance based on the thoughts/experiences/sanity of either the individual and/or group. Almost like a personal Silent Hill entity. Therefore, the Temple Gate god, Skinnerman (both Hong Kong and Sinyala versions), Loutermiltch, and the Walrider are the same type of phenomenon brought forth by different minds. I think Dr. Wernicke is trying to artificially recreate it, which he briefly did in Berlin, but for what overall purpose...?
Make me wonder what happened to murkoff after the MK ultra end in 1973, maybe they are hiding and destroy the eviden of their cruel experimen that what i think but what about reagent what to them do they leave a normal life and start a family as a new person or they join the cult.
@imnotusingmyrealname4566 In Berlin, while he was working for the N*zis in 1938, he created the first iteration of the Morphogenic Engine and caused a very brief flash/appearance of an entity. This is thought to be the very first appearance of the Walrider, or an entity/phenomenon like it. This information comes from a document Miles Upshur found during Outlast 1 called The Spirit Breach.
Fun fact if it hasn't already been posted. JFK was the 2nd youngest president, the youngest was Teddy Roosevelt who was 1 year younger than. JFK at 42.
@Listening_Books12345 Yeah, it was a big to do. If I remember right one of the criticisms from Republicans was that if he was elected, he would take orders from the pope and disregard the voice of the people. It's been a hot minute so I could be mistaken on that though.
I gotta ask: Did you really do all that research with the newspaper clips? Or were those in-game? Because that is some unreal effort, especially trying to establish a connection between OUTLAST’s lore and real life history. That is some amazing work!
@@GamingHarryYT Damn! The amount of research you’ve done for topics like MK ULTRA and unit 731 is astounding; which isn’t even for a historical synopsis video like what Simon Whistler does; but for an OUTLAST video. What you’re doing is so intriguing, that your video made interested researching these historical topics myself; thank you for your work and please keep doing these type of videos.
I hated / failed history in school but something about the way you explain it has my attention by the throat 👀 keep up the amazing work as always man! 💜
Every time an expansive game like outlast drops a new dlc and you do a video on it, i have to go back and watch the OG too to remember what the story was
Due to the time period I was thinking that perhaps the toxic shock gas could be the gas later dropped during the Vietnam War codenamed project orange? I say that simply cuz the events are documented 10~ years prior to the war, the gas has an orange hue in game, and causes permanent health damage.
I once again commend your care and attention to pronunciation of German names, it’s really nice to hear Also, most of the games you cover are too scary for me and you supply such a vast background-information in your video essays, I really enjoy your content I watch a few channels that do video essays on (horror) games but your dedication to include relevant world history and give a well-rounded full picture is outstanding
wow harry u put so much effort into the videos ,specially linking them to the actual historic events, that really helps in undertsanding the lore so much .. well done my friend :)

I stopped at 5:38 to read the document my self and read “unit 731” and I was like “ and I thought these people could not be any worse human piles of toxic waste, I was sorely mistaken.”
Dude, seeing dihydrocodeine mentioned was creepy as I was on that for many years as a teen due to my chronic pain caused by daily dislocations. I guess I'm technically still taking it as I'm on codeine and paracetamol which is what dihydrocodeine is in just one pill.

I dont want to sound like I'm being defensive over the CIA, im by no means a fan, but why do you insist on downplaying the actions of the USSR in every video about the cold war? Why are you pretending that the soviets carried out justice against unit 731 while the US immorally used their research when, in reality, the soviets did the exact same thing: setting up their own biological weapons research lab using the research they recovered as well as research given to them in return for leniency by members of 731. Like you dont need to be spreading literal soviet propoganda to tell the truth about government actions during the Cold War. It is insulting to people's intelligence to think we wont notice.
@@GamingHarryYT I'm not being defensive. I'm just bringing up how odd it is that you include historical context for the events, but it is seemingly intentionally incorrect. Its especially confusing when you purposefully introduce comparisons between what the countries did and then just misrepresent one side.
