After spending a couple months on the radial full 54mm 97d , I can say that it’s refreshing going back to the classics 54mm. It’s like night and day different because my flip tricks felt more crisp and agile. I never thought the pop could get any more easier the more the longer I kept skating . What I’ve learned from this experiment is that wheels do function differently and it isn’t in my head like some skaters may believe . The classics are the jam 👍🏾
I know we probably only see the successes due to editing. But for a post-work session you seem in good form! Keep it up. Love the vids. Very down to earth and chill.
THX MAN!!!! Seriously keep it up! This is one of my fav new channels. If you get on Facebook your U-tube would blow up, Im on a few pages that talk about you.... I've been trying to pump your channel, wich i don't do often. l, I cant believe more peeps don't know about it. THX AGAIN!
I ride 54mm Classics myself (the 97A's at the moment, love em! A bit more forgiving on rougher surfaces) My favorite wheel shape and I also think they look cooler than the more square looking Conical Fulls
@@KevinNiceTryforgot to mention. I’ve been riding conical fulls but the wheel madness hit me. Got a used radial full to mess with and then found some Spitfire classics in the garage. So I’ll be messing around for a bit. I think the tweak that was done was a cushion swap.
I been skating and looking at skating for a long long time. I can see a difference in your skating with the classic. 👍 I like the classic, because I like how thin they feel under my feet when I’m riding 👍
Just to throw some more madness at you, try the radials. It’s like the classic and conical had a child and all the best attributes of each are incorporated. Love them!
Last year I bought the OG cuts because the shop was out of F4 Classics. Couldn't get my combo grinds to work at all so switched those out asap. Now I'm a bit apprehensive about trying something new. Interested in trying those X-formulas, but might just get the tried and true Classics. Good skating bro!
I rode a friend's board with x formulas, and they feel nice. Not bouncy like the dragons, but im very happy with the 99a formula fours. They work for everything.
Yeah I just swicthed to the x formula and i like the dragons better. I think they slide better for some reason, even when doing slappys. But the wheels give out and start making a noise,I think, because it rides on the bearing??Ill still get some more for my cruiser set up tho. ✌️✌️ 🔥🔥🔥🔥🛹🛹 keep killing it Gs
I am on my first set of Bones Classics. By far the most narrow wheel I have skated. Absolutely agree better for nose slides. I am riding 54 all black. You changed your hardware
Been riding conical full 99s for years now but definitely tempted to try out the classics. Trying to get my 360 flips dialed and I hear the rounded edges helps.
@@KevinNiceTry chucked a set of classics on and skated them over the weekend. Definitely felt like my flip trick came a lot easier than normal. Cheers for the vid!
got a cheap but near new complete on marketplace that had thunders (i usually ride Indys but try all kinds of stuff) and Spitfire Classic Formula OG Classics. 56. After riding formula 4 a lot I have to say the OG urethane formula from spitfire is AWESOME! Love this OG classic shape, too!
Classics are the best. Right now im trying radial fulls and i like them better than conical fulls. Local slappy spot is a bit crusty so they work well.
99a is honestly like the perfect street wheel.. i usually use conical full though when street skating so its a bit faster but flip tricks def feel better with classics 100%
First time this channel comes across my feed. Good stuff for sure, I'm totally subscribing. To answer the question: I always go for 53 - 54mm and currently I'm skating some OG classics 53mm 99 and they're pretty damn good but I'll come back to Clsssics 54. Got those because my local didn't have 54 classics + they were on sale 😅
im a spitfire diehard on the “trick” board but scored a cheap big flight deck during covid and got some dragons to set up a cruiser. wow yeah man its like the best of both worlds. i got 52mm dragons and they function like a bigger wheel on these gritty nyc streets
I have a set of 52 mm classics and 54 mm conical fulls. I'm current riding the classics because they're faster, feel lighter, and make flip tricks easier imo. It must be the shape because holding both in the hand the weight difference feels minimal, but when im riding the conicals they feel so bulky and heavy. Really nice for crusty spots but I mainly skate at the park. Idk my setup is already pretty heavy at 8.5 with standard indys, so maybe the size and shape of my classics make it more manageable.
It doesn't change shit. It's fully psychological. Just like regular or light trucks. Give me whatever wheels you want i will do the exact same tailslides or noseslides or slappys.
I disagree. If I gave you giant soft wheels, your noseslide would be awful. Flip tricks would be awful. It's an extreme example, but little things matter in skateboarding. That's why they measure wheels by mm. A 52mm is far different than a 56mm. And that's a 4mm different.
@@KevinNiceTry I still disagree. you need just one session to get over the fact that you pass from a 52 to a 56mm. I know what i'm saying i just did it lol. Yes it's different at first but just like if you change your shoes, or your board side. But at the end, it doesn't affect your skating at all. It's just a matter of habit. Your exemple is extreme so it makes no sens. I'm talking about every street wheels in the game. Of course you can prefer to skate 52 than 56mm, it's a personal choice. But having the same size full conical 52mm 99a or a classic 52mm 99a doesn't change shit, except the look of your board. If you think it does, it's psychological.
@@KevinNiceTry Bro look at your miniature, WTF are you talking about? You only compair Conical vs classics. You know what, you're right. Good luck with the "dad who used to skate well but is now focused on his setup to try to understand why skateboarding becomes hard passed 40" phase.
Lol. There are hundreds of examples of wheel size making a big difference in skateboarding. Sorry you can't see that. Also, not a dad. Maybe take youtube videos less seriously. Haha.
Thanks for always supplying the Loyal Pawns with quality and ever more aesthetically creative content Mr. Moustache!

Big wheels forever.
3 cheers for ACE AF1s. I'm riding Conicals (not the fulls) 54mm (coming from Classics 54mm) and loving them.

Thanks a friend made it for me
Looks like the classics are it. Match made in heaven for Kev.

@ 2:08 you OBVIOUSLY shoulda got red rails to go on that board with the license plate frame dood!! sweet setup. never heard of that griptape brand.
After OJ Elite and Dragons I am back on the 54mm 99A Classics.
Perfect wheels for street and park and I love the color! 🤙

Haha nice. No. Not the hardware. 😁
Text book tre flip! About to go back to conical fulls from classics, and also Af1 from Indy titanium
I bought Spitfire Big Head 57mm I really liked the wheels!
You were saying that white wheels are.... then you paused and said iconic. I so thought you were going to say "classic"
Dope video as always

they have the dragon formula wheels in 99a branded as the bones x formula wheels, have you thought about giving those a try?
Just copped some classics a couple days ago 🔥 got the 54 mm swirls
That's what's up!
I've just switched to classics 53s. Was hoping they would revert easier as there's less surface.

What’s the difference between the regular classic and the og classic???
@@RANGERMOSH regs are more rounded and og more Conicals
You Are Legend
52mm conical fulls are perfect
Yeah, conical full is my second favorite shape. It's good.
I like the lock ins, aparently I'm the only one haha, i ride 54/55mm 99a
Radials/Radial fulls are a hybrid of them both
I went from Conicals to Full 54mm 99a and now i'm riding the Classic's 54mm 97a for fun
Whats the difference between regular classic and the og classic????
The OG Classic has a wider contact patch. It's kind of a side -cut tablet shape.
Not gonna lie, I'm stuck on the dragons. The 54mm wider classic shape is just the perfect wheel for all the east coast shitty roads.
Definitely a fun wheel
Agree!! I ride them in 54 mm, V1 shape an they are so much fun. In my age (46) i do need a softer wheel because of my knees 😂😂

Hey Dude what size deck do you use ?
8.25 with a 14" wb
👏👏👏👏
Is there a recognisable difference between 99 and 101a
Definitely the 101 feel much harder

Agree 💯
It there a big difference between classics and formula four classics?
Formula four is the type of urethane. Less likely to flat spot.
Do you think you'll ever go back to dragons??
Probably not. I did enjoy them for sure, but I'm just used to the 99a formula fours. It's just a good all-around wheel.
i don't think i've ever had a set of spitfires. the ones i'd ridden were too skinny for my tastes, maybe radial fulls would be more to my liking.
They have some wide shapes
i like 56-60mm
Tryout the spitfire big heads one time
I wish they were more white in color.
Graphic in they are super white
why not dye your wheels?
Is that a thing?
Lmao I don’t roll spitfire yet, bones x formula 54mm
to me the classics roll over coping easier.
