Re the different contrast versions (+/-) for the Natural Rec 709 LUT, when would you advise using each one? Can you please provide a basic guide... thanks
Love the channel. How heavy was this setup? @ Incredible walking motion with no post stabilization? looks like you're on an easy rig, was it 24fps? Have you used an easy rig with a weight setup similar to this? I building a similar BMPCCK6K rig and want great handheld but not sure if easy rig is worth it..
People get to caught up with gear when they should focus be focusing on the story telling. Someone who actually does this for a living and teaches. You are an inspiration.
Ya ya equipment isn't everything. That's really a poor person excuse. This rig he's got is very expensive, the cage itself around $500. Zero budget my ass. With a black magic or any cinema camera, you'll need some scratch.
@@whiterthanyou1 Uh, it is pretty much zero budget compared to most big commercial shoots. Where just the viewfinder might be more than his whole rig at $7,200.00 and the camera being over 50k. His rig depending on which lens is around 5-6k. Even if you rented an Arri Alexa or a RED. 7 day ARRI ALEXA Mini rental is $3,213. That's just for the camera, not including lenses. And he can shoot this stuff when ever he wants because he owns his rig. If he can get similar money for a spot it's all gravy.. His little rig has been paid for over and over. So to him, it is in fact zero budget. I do understand where you are coming from since it all depends on your life experience. But I will tell you. Some equipment can help you tell your story. Equipment is actually important depending on what kind of visuals you are going for. Those Leica lenses are dreamy. I want a set badly!
@@howdyrv No, not really. It's about even depending on the lens. Used Leica Elmarit R 19mm can be had for slightly under 2k. The BMPCC 6k is around $2500. He's not running brand new Leica Cine glass which can get up to 40k a lens.

Hey man, great video! I dunno if this will fit your workflow or not, but I’ve also had to swap NDs without an assistant. Maybe you could get a tray for each filter, and carry the filters already fitted in the trays. That way you won’t have to take them in and out of trays, which is the slowest and most dangerous part. What do you think?
wow that was great to watch. those Leica R’s are dreamy man! if possible next time could u discuss which ND strengths you’re change to/from? and the thought process behind those decisions etc. this was sick man
Thanks man! It just depends on how bright it is. Typically use 1.8 in bright day light if I wanna open to 2.0. Otherwise 1.2 is good and at sunset maybe .9
@@matteobertoli Hi Matteo! Your footage it's amazing! I have a question.. on the Blackmagic website don't recommend use the Samsung SSD T5 1TB for recording 6K 2.4:1 Blackmagic RAW 5:1 up to 60 fps. But you show that is possible no?. Thanks a lot!

Hey Matteo! Would you ever consider doing a video on your matte box? I've often considered picking one up, but I worry it won't make enough of a difference to be worth the cost.
Dan matte box doesn’t really make a difference. Filters do tho, they make a HUGE difference, but you need a matte box in order to use them. I talked about it in my very first rig tour!
@@matteobertoli Thanks for the response!! Will definitely check out that video. I use lens filters all the time. Is the idea that a matte box makes them easier to switch out? ...Maybe I'd find out if I just watched the video :)
I was just going to ask what you were filming this footage on as this also looks great but seen it in the description:) it’s good to see you with shades on looking at the monitor as I really suffer with being blind in one eye and really light sensitive and I haven’t really tried a good external monitor yet, I just tend to use the EVF on my Gh5s but it would be a real pain doing anything like this. Really nice seeing how you work and the ad looks stunning, love that 19mm!
This spec ad turned out great! Do you think it's worth it to invest into a Leica R set today? It was hot property back in the Red Epic-X/Scarlet-X days, but many new lenses have come out since and the market changed a lot
Thanks! Oh absolutely. To be honest, new and modern lenses are not that good. I mean, they are ok, just not great. These Leica are comparable to Cooke S4 or Zeiss SS. They are also very similar to Panavision Primo. Really good lenses
Hey man! Love this video. Would you be able to link the Leica 19mm you are using? There seems to be different versions of it. Also did you use Pro Mist filters for this?
I have a technical question: Can you handle and adjust all settings on your external monitor or do you have to adjust some things on the internal monitor of the BMPCC6K? I ask because your V-mount battery is hiding you the screen of the BM6K. Nevertheless I'm really impressed what you can get out of this little beast!
Jonathan Stütz yeah I set the iso at 400 and never touched it. But now I am using the bm5 from portkeys that allows you to control the camera from the monitor
terrance mcleod yeah but you need to rig the phone to the camera on top of the monitor. It’s ok if you are filming yourself or have the camera on a tripod for an interview. The BM5 allows you to control everything from a 2200nits monitor which is awesome
Steve Kelly Film thanks! 4K. Uploading in 8k doesn’t make sense since very few people are gonna be able to steam it. Also you won’t be able to tell the difference. Thanks God the human eye has limits :)
Quick question, since you are handheld I see sometimes that you are sometimes using the follow focus, do you not get a little camera shake in the shot? Or is it just practice and I suck at pulling focus hahaha, maybe it's the follow focus and yours is just really really smooth.
