This is something I'm super curious about. Let's hear your spec success stories! Share the videos below (if possible)
My guy is back again!!!!
Did this with the GH5S and while testing the GH6.... ua-cam.com/video/4KxVTuiaqvM/v-deo.html .... I BEEN ASKING THIS SPEC AD QUESTION!!!! You arrived to answer!!!
That spec ad looks more expensive than an actual ad. I love how you’ve researched into what works and what doesn’t. You’ve already done half the work for us. I’m here for it.
My entire corporate and commercial business brand is built on spec, love it and believe in it. we've seen 100% of our spec projects eventually bring ROI
There we go. What kind of spec work performs the best in your opinion?
I’d really like to know as well haha
i think you're a rad dude. glad to see you're doing well. i think spec work is really valuable when say you're stuck doing certain work in your field that you don't love and you'd like to move toward making stuff you do love
Thanks for the nice comment Greg! Yup, totally agree with you!
So many people make spec ads on tiktok for little to no budget. Pretty crazy how far tech has come but, the creativity is what really stands out
Yup, like the product specific ones? Pretty crazy. I'm curious how often those turn into client work.
@@LukeNeumann Yes but, not just big brands. KSI and Logan Paul released their own drink PRIME. Someone made a spec ad, KSI (millions of subs) reacted to it so definitely good to do influencer brand spec ads too, it can really boost your social media and get you on the radar for big traditional brands too
@@KGProductions_ Good point!
I genuinely don't know why you don't have more views. The shots in the video are insane. I've had no real success with spec ads, but I enjoy the shoots and the creative freedom.
So Luke. I did not have any success on spec ads. Perhaps, because I have only done some spec ad-ish photos (?)I am a recovering filmmaker who turned to photography and I am looking back at film to have that integrated into my business model.
Nonetheless, I wanted to say that I have watched your channel way back. And I really like the direction you are hiding right now. I especially love your approach of "I am not going to ask you to like this video.. yet". I think you are onto something here.
I would appreciate if you can give some insight on the business side. Lead Gen, finding your market value. The real Biz Biz stuff. Hearing the part about you having footage running on Walmart tv's sounds like you found something quite valuable.
I would also love it if you could be a guest on my podcast but you don't need to answer that, yet.
Looks awesome! Thanks for the useful info. I wanted to create something like this myself, but I have a question: Do you need any approval from that specific brand before posting your spec ad on your social media?
I came to ask the same question. Do you have to state it's not a reflection of said company?
Some recent spec projects I've done were on nurses who were losing their jobs because of the jab mandates. There were no brands that I was targeting but it evolved into generating a bit of money via crowd funding, which I didn't expect. It's nothing like your example but it shares the same principle of initiative and the benefits that can come of it. But still, if you want to make a living I wouldn't suggest making content on social issues that fly against the mainstream grain. Make commercials for corporations that took part in the largest transfer of wealth in the history of mankind. That's how you stay afloat.
Interesting, yeah that’s sort of in the same vein (doing someone on your own dime with at least a hope of funding or compensation).
Ultimately...a creative risk. How did the crowdfunding turn out? Would you apply that strategy again with something new?
I'm gonna to try this in 3d but I'm making a game so it's not to get a job it's just to hone new skills & experiment in different styles. The art community here is also pretty tight nit so it does help connecting with artists like a calling card
Nice! Curious to hear how this turns out.
I think CG/3D spec can land jobs within the industry pretty fast if done right
Let's go for the competition!!
It's going to be a fun one. Hope you participate!
as a beginner I see no other way to get "in" to commercial than to just start doing it, even if not with those same brands
No wonder I can’t get work as I’m really into underwater toenail clipping actionsports.
Well, I imagine that at least narrows down the list of potential brands :)
Also...can you imagine?
Thanks for the video. I've been thinking about doing a spec ad, and wonder if there are any legal obstacles to using a recognized brand for a spec ad. Any thoughts on this?
Hey Luke. An unrelated question here but you did a slow mo video on a canon camera a few years ago at 120fps, I think but can't find the video. Any idea what the video was called? Thanks!
Hmmm, I don't recall! You sure it wasn't a Sony? That's the only slow-mo video I remember.
@@LukeNeumann Oh, it probably was! I haven't seen it for a long time. Not sure why I thought it was Canon. Do you still have that video up?
@@6Four6Films It was private but I changed it to "unlisted" just now: ua-cam.com/video/_RpPKPfwpJE/v-deo.html
@@LukeNeumann Nice one, thanks! I really fancied watching it again. I love the whole look of that video!
@@6Four6Films It was a fun one! Fond memories of filming it, for sure.
Still waiting for the subscribe call.
Next vid!
I came back but I can't subscribe because I am already subscribed a long time a ago ✌🏻😂
No complaints here!!
How did you get John de Lancie for this? :-P
Ha! He does look a bit like him, doesn’t he?
nest week
This is what I did and how I got rich.
We need to talk about this in more depth! Was this your basic strategy?
I won’t comment.
Just because I didn't ask doesn't mean you can't :)
Why is your shop a NFT marketplace? That stuff is useless
It’s the technology we choose to sell some of our 8K pieces. Not useless to us.
Also, our “shop” is actually just a Wix store with our free products (LUTs/Music).
