My pleasure and thanks for watching! I’m also primarily a sealed collector 🤝 When I was younger I thought it was crazy when I’d learn of collectors keeping products sealed was crazy but here I am 😂 Thanks again for watching and for the kind comment 😊
I think those are solid pickups! In this market, it’s the relatively recent products that everyone is bored of they create the best opportunity. Thanks for watching!!
Sure, Pokemon investors definitely contribute to the sense of cards needing value. We undoubtedly take advantage of this fact, regardless of what anyone think about our participation. I don't think we're a large part of the factors making up this matter of fact in the end though. If collectors did not make sealed product valuable, there would be no scalpers or investors. If all collectors collectively said "regardless of how old, rare, or beautiful these products are, I refuse to pay more than MSRP" then whatever issues come from investors and scalpers would be gone after a single round of toiling with them. But ultimately, with the exception of scalpers, I think the hobby is healthiest with 4 types of people being heavily involved in the hobby: the players, the casual collectors (often children), the hardcore collectors, and the investors. The investors are generally just dealing with the hardcore collectors, while players and casual collectors allow for the hobby to grow and TPC to produce a nice amount of product for the cycle to continue. For the record, I am not saying that collectors are the problem. I will say anyone willing to pay $150 to crack open an ETB of the newest release is a massive part of the problem, but the vast majority of collectors are not willing to pay that amount of money for product. I genuinely think that right now the insane market comes from scalpers scalping scalpers scalping scalpers - and the issue will eventually die once the average scalper realizes what's going on and stops buying the product while thinking "the box will triple in value in two weeks no matter what I paid for it". Then a lot of scalpers will go in debt and the craze will correct itself.
I agree that the players, collectors and investors are all important to the health of the market! I like your distinction of casual and hardcore collectors too 😊 Thanks for watching and for the detailed comment!!
As someone who waited in line during Covid for Shining Fates DON’T buy over retail price. Found a little yesterday at Target and an LGS at retail. Another LGS had etbs at $90. Said no thanks I’ll wait…not a big deal and there will be opportunities in the future at retail.
Those Shining Fates days sucked 😂 I am still constantly referring back to that time and the lessons I learned overpaying for Shining Fates. I don’t want to talk about how much I paid building my Shining Fates master set 😤 Thanks for watching!!
I don't normally follow the investment side of the hobby too much, but every couple years when there's a big boom like this and it's hot right now I am sometimes curious when it spills over. Since Journey Together is looking like a headache for even competitors to get, and that's another big point of tension. But I like your videos! And message. It's nice seeing the investors who adore the game and actually have a strong connection to it, rather than flippers who are kind of the main problem right now. So yeah good insight! Thanks for the video! c:
Hey, I’m glad you enjoyed it and thanks for watching!! And I really hope they figure out how to get enough Journey Together out to players… I hate to think how expensive the Hop deck might be 😩
I buy what I can at MSRP or I don't buy at all. Those who pay the scalpers are the problem. Without buyers the scalpers would have no market, but it's easier to point fingers at others while crying into your $180 ETB 😂
As someone who came from the 40k hobby i am just a bit confused we all know it the scalpers that doing this stupid shit. And i bet you their are discord full of them just barging and laughing about this. Like the same shit happens with 40k so i am like 99% sure this happening with Pokemon to
40k is an amazing hobby! I’m more of an AoS guy, and I still have my High Elf army from my childhood! I haven’t kept up to date with the market though: it sounds like there are some similarities?? Thanks so much for watching!!
@@tcgbuyersclub There are similarities and I would even say it is worse because they work allot more with limited editions (special hardcovers or Christmas boxes) Its a headache for the community because what happens is that basically everything is gone within a hour and within 2 hours the scalpers are already selling it on Ebay with insane prices. And that with already a hobby that is really expensive by itself. But what GW is doing which i think stores need to do with Pokemon is limiting to 1 product per person. Or even do what they do in Japan and that is children get first pick and than the adults can come and get their stuff
Oh man that’s so interesting! I had no idea! Thanks for sharing that. I’m always trying to learn more about other collectible hobby markets because I think there are lessons to learn from all of them. But I’ll admit I spend way too much time just trying to keep up with Pokemon to do a very good job of it 😅

Although I only collect Dragon ball and sometimes One piece cards because i kinda like the art style more and its cheaper. Ps: sorry for the double response my UA-cam is freaking out and i thought my previous message was not send
Everyone is the problem not 1 group and me for 1 atm have a verry unpopular opinion I actually prefer to buy of scalpers for 2 main reason I can get as much product as I like and I don’t have to break the sealed product big store smyths opened at 9 and sold out at 9.10 and then local Pokemon store sell 1 etb as long as I break the seal I don’t like being told what to do with something I buy so a new opinion I’m buying of the scalpers less hassle n stress n cost a little more end of no ones changing my mind collectors will collect and they don’t usually collect bulk investors invest and they don’t usually invest in psa 7 and the scalping will always go on were there is money to be made there is so many sets were pack is 4-6 pound but no one wants it here we go ready on collection boxes n tins you can get Fusion strike Lost origin Brilliant starts Battle styles Chilling reighn Steam seige Vivid voltage Sv base Obsidian flames Temporal forces Paldean dates Silver tempest Twilight mascorade Surging sparks The list goes on the only ones that are higher are 151 and evolving skies and prismatic evolutions on second hand market so it’s all a joke 😂
If you’re not pointing your finger at corporate then you’re wrong. You think they are oblivious to the hype of evolving skies? Every holiday set where they don’t deliver 100% allotment, it is 100% intentional. They are apologizing to distribution for S&V by switching to nostalgia based sets and then intentionally short printing “accidentally” then immediately reprinting as to pretend to their customer base, “oops we don’t mean to screw you over initially, here is some mediocre print quality rushed out for you?”
In my opinion, they absolutely intentionally short printed 151 and, as a consequence, kicked off the current market boom. I don’t believe for one second they worried another print wave or 2 of 151 would tank the market. I’m sure there’s a difficult balance here but I absolute put the blame on TPCi!! Thanks for watching 💪
@@tcgbuyersclub to both of you yes corporate has something to do with it. However, if they over print it into oblivion the collectors/game would die. People need to understand that and don't seem to. Anyone remember you know not so long ago when everyone supposedly hated SV and sets were selling for $80 or less and stores were taking losses? I sure do, where were all the collectors fans keeping it afloat? No where to be found only thing that saved it was investors from tanking even harder
@@tallcatshortdog there is a balance but making the customer pay, via market manipulation because of a lack of popularity of the earlier sets, can’t be the middle ground. I bought a lot of those earlier sets it just feels like by doing this they are actually punishing the people who stuck around, allowing the market to manipulate by flippers/scalpers. Due to them all of a sudden turning on the nostalgia art setting in future set planning. Pre order for a case of the next set is already $2,400 on ebay?! Wut?
Hey please give me some advice.I really want the groudon 199 psa10. It’s going for 400 dollars. Should I buy now or wait for price to drop (or do you think it won’t drop)
Thanks foe watching 😊 I don’t invest in singles much and have a terrible track record where I have, so it’s not the best area for me to give advice. Because this card comes from Paradox Rift, it also makes it hard to predict. I don’t expect it to get a reprint, but it’s near where I suppose it might? Of the set gets a large reprint the price should drop, but I don’t think I would bet on that. The question is then whether the boom ends soon or, if it take another year or so to end, if the drop will bring prices down dramatically. So, considering all of that, maybe today’s price isn’t too bad! I have no idea what will happen but this how I try to think about it. Hopefully that helps!
its fine let them buy this product and it could potentially drop. think about vivid voltage back during covid year that rainbow pika was a 1000. just wait and we will all be chilling, no need to over react. theres pros and cons to all of whats happening rn.
Here’s the thing pokemon cards are not like baseball cards its a game its caledl the pokemon trading card game, investors are turning pokemon tcg into the stock market, if you dont play you should not horde sealed products many of us players want to play the new card sets but investors made it insanely expensive and adult investors investing for profits dont seem to get it.
@ pokemon cards are a game and have always been, greedy desperate adults have now turned the game into a money grab stock market system, most of the youtubers dont watch the show or play the games they just open packs trying to hit a winning ticket.
I understand where you’re coming from. I’m also a player (although, I admit I’m not very good and don’t play as much as I’d like!) and I think making playable cards available to the players at reasonable prices is essential. I hope Pokemon can ramp up the printers quickly to help, and I hope things get better soon 🙏
@tcgbuyersclub thankfully every "chase" card has a comparable holo non holo easily available for the tcg, so collectors don't kill the game. I do agree it has been under printed this and last set. Flippers are killing the tcg it's the "new hotness."" I enjoy ripping packs it's my vice takes me to a simpler time lol but I'm not chasing the new sets. I enjoy the video games myself but slowly getting into the tcg
@wowhthumperh5911 totally: Pokemon has done an incredible job making sure the mandatory playable cards stay affordable. I’m always shocked to learn how much more expensive it is to build a competitive deck in other TCGs!! I don’t know what cards from Prismatic Evolutions are expected to have a big impact on the meta, but given the short-printing their definitely going to be expensive for the time being 😅
all they need to do is produce more content.. men fighting in stores for a childrens card game is pathetic. the pokemon company just need to print more cards, stop with the artificial scarcity. its bloody cardboard
Very true! I generally ignore them, but I have heard that they’ve changed how they price popular product which forces the retailers to price higher too 😤 Thanks so much for watching!!

My pleasure and thanks for watching! I’m also primarily a sealed collector 🤝 When I was younger I thought it was crazy when I’d learn of collectors keeping products sealed was crazy but here I am 😂
Thanks again for watching and for the kind comment 😊
Yep. Got my prismatic preorders in early. Now Im sitting back buying up some S&V base and shrouded fable which is still extremely cheap
I like your distinction of casual and hardcore collectors too 😊
Thanks for watching and for the detailed comment!!
I don’t want to talk about how much I paid building my Shining Fates master set 😤
Thanks for watching!!
Thanks for watching! 🙇♂️
@@tcgbuyersclub There are similarities and I would even say it is worse because they work allot more with limited editions (special hardcovers or Christmas boxes)
Its a headache for the community because what happens is that basically everything is gone within a hour and within 2 hours the scalpers are already selling it on Ebay with insane prices.
But I’ll admit I spend way too much time just trying to keep up with Pokemon to do a very good job of it 😅
@ I myself i love keep a eye on the Pokemon market because its part of my childhood. Although I only collect Dragon ball and sometimes One piece cards because i kinda like the art style more and its cheaper.
Ps: sorry for the double response my UA-cam is freaking out and i thought my previous message was not send
Don’t sweat it! Thanks again for watching and commenting 😊
Awesome vid brother very well thought out points ❤
Thanks for watching I’m glad you liked it!
Everyone is the problem not 1 group and me for 1 atm have a verry unpopular opinion I actually prefer to buy of scalpers for 2 main reason I can get as much product as I like and I don’t have to break the sealed product big store smyths opened at 9 and sold out at 9.10 and then local Pokemon store sell 1 etb as long as I break the seal I don’t like being told what to do with something I buy so a new opinion I’m buying of the scalpers less hassle n stress n cost a little more end of no ones changing my mind collectors will collect and they don’t usually collect bulk investors invest and they don’t usually invest in psa 7 and the scalping will always go on were there is money to be made there is so many sets were pack is 4-6 pound but no one wants it here we go ready on collection boxes n tins you can get
Fusion strike
Lost origin
Brilliant starts
Battle styles
Chilling reighn
Steam seige
Vivid voltage
Sv base
Obsidian flames
Temporal forces
Paldean dates
Silver tempest
Twilight mascorade
Surging sparks
The list goes on the only ones that are higher are 151 and evolving skies and prismatic evolutions on second hand market so it’s all a joke 😂
I agree the issue is the huge demand from all the different market participants combined! Thanks for watching 🙇♂️
On average distribution received
@tallcatshortdog you’re right there’s a balance!
@@tcgbuyersclub Thanks so much for the reply, nice video btw🙏
@xShadowII my pleasure and thanks again!
its fine let them buy this product and it could potentially drop. think about vivid voltage back during covid year that rainbow pika was a 1000. just wait and we will all be chilling, no need to over react. theres pros and cons to all of whats happening rn.
Vivid Voltage and the rainbow Chonkachu are great lessons from the last boom. Thanks for watching and commenting!! 🙌
Like baseball cards are based on a game? Pokemon estimated value is over 97 billion, where mlb is valued at 79.
I don’t know what cards from Prismatic Evolutions are expected to have a big impact on the meta, but given the short-printing their definitely going to be expensive for the time being 😅
I blame the Canadians…
🇨🇦🫡
all they need to do is produce more content.. men fighting in stores for a childrens card game is pathetic. the pokemon company just need to print more cards, stop with the artificial scarcity. its bloody cardboard
I agree! Thanks for watching 🙏
Don't forget the distro being scumbags, holding back product. Free will I suppose.
Very true! I generally ignore them, but I have heard that they’ve changed how they price popular product which forces the retailers to price higher too 😤
Thanks so much for watching!!
I think you are spot on

Pokemons washed
I disagree 😉 Thanks for watching!
Japanese booster boxes are like $40.
Great video man !! Investors are not the problem we need more product ! But I still don’t like the resellers ruins it for the collectors and investors
Thanks for watching! There’s a lot to dislike in the current market unfortunately 🥲
