Here’s my take. Anytime something needs a catalyst or a jumpstart, there needs to be fuel to keep it going right? The first boom was triggered by Pokemon Go, 2nd was the pandemic, and like you mentioned people were home and had nothing to do. Aside from the massive reprints, the pandemic ended and people went back to work and had things to do, on top of that, the world was different. This time around, there was no catalyst, and it was organic… It’ll definitely pulled back at some point but I don’t think it’ll crash

I think the announcement of PLA-Z release date will impact the TCG market, and I think the release of PLA-Z will severely impact the TCG market. Gen 10 in November will likely be the nail in the coffin, sealing the TCG market in for another 4 years calm before yet another storm. Reason I say this is because this boom (coincidentally) started going nuts right around the time when a lot of people would normally be looking at picking up the new main series video game. And I think this would partially explain why such a high proportion of new people in the hobby are playing the TCG (not just collecting).

Little sidenote, a 'Pokemon Crash' in the past meant products went down in price like max 30%, 30....That's fine by me lol. If you've been in the crypto space, you've seen real crashes, like 99.99% value crashes

Why are all these poke reporters all cucking eachother for a market crash? Why? Guess it's bc there's too many casuals with mangina's who cry when there's no product on the shelves on a bright Saturday afternoon. It's easy getting product if u try harder at restocks. At least you explained the past and present. The reason why Vivid Voltage and mid sets took a dive is simply bc the sets were not great and the hit rates were worse than Prismatic. Also, Rainbow cards are lame compared to full arts. The difference today is how strong these newer sets are. Starting with Surging, Prismatic, Journey, Rocket, & the new Black & White upcoming means this. DO NOT EXPECR A MARKET CRASH IN 25!! These are all "likely" going to be strong sets. Try harder to get the product at retail, and have fun ripping it.

Define crashing. Your intro builds one up on this idea that not only will it crash, but will basically reduce itself to such shocking lows that everyone will lose money. That is just stupid. Even during the supposed last crash from 2022 and 2023, cards were either flatlining or fluctuating up and down to varying degrees. The card in your thumbnail saw its initial ascension to being a $500 card during the last crash and really has not looked back since. There are certainly some overhyped cards and people are certainly overpaying for a lot of products right now, but for it all to crash would mean that demand in general for Pokemon would have to collapse and there is simply no sign of that.

While I think the cyclical nature of Pokémon is true, I think the recent few booms have been heavily influenced by 'outside' influences, and not natural demand rises for cards. I don't think Harry R could have predicted Pokémon GO and COVID being 4 years apart 😂 Pocket has a massive influence too. Also you say it will end in December. Immediately after that it's the 30th anniversary... Edit: you made it onto the anniversary point 😂

Boy I really hope it crashes and crashes hard... It's way too insane. Modern singles going up to hundreds and thousands of dollars before the set is even out of print (Greninja TWM, Pikachu SSP, Milotic SSP, and of course all the eeveelutions from Prismatic Delusions...) Products selling out in seconds because scalpers and hoarders are abundant. Even Japan is not safe, saw a guy brag about how he had 2,000 BP boxes and sold them at 2x MSRP as well as selling all the FREE Iono promos for $30-40...Pokemon Center made a mistake allowing each box to get a promo... this card isn't even rare, there's plenty of them but they're being hoarded and sold by lots of Japanese ebay users and we suckers eat it up. (It's only $30! Better get it before the price goes up!) I just want this madness to end so I can waste my money gambling opening packs again. I don't want to buy Korean or Chinese... I was primarily English, but EN got fucked and then went to JP and now JP is fucked. Are future reprints even going to be enough to overwhelm the damn scalpers and hoarders man? Otherwise the only way this bubble bursts is everyone gives up from being priced out. But still too many stupid people are ok with paying these ridiculous prices and pre-ordering from an ebay guy who just pre-ordered from a retailer himself! Not even an official business with a distributor!

This run started in November, so we are about 3 months in. 6 month minimum would put the first hurdle at about March or April, so right after when journey together comes out and right before team rocket. So lines up. Rocket could kill the run or extend it
