Actually, he never wiped down the soap, so It's barely any better than a soapless pressure washer rinse. Read the foam cannon instructions if you want proper results.
@False Flag I do. As an automotive detailing enthusiast, you'll never get that layer off with just a pressure wash. Usually you can make it more manageable by washing your vehicle more frequently, as the dirt tends to embed deeper the longer it sits. I recommend ceramic coating, or waxing, if you want to be able to just blast it off every once in a while. Doesn't keep it perfectly clean, but it really helps. Even the cheaper kits you'll find on Amazon should do the trick.
Have either of you guys done or thought about doing chainsaw sharpening systems? I just bought the STIHL 2-1 system and would be keen to see side by side comparison with other systems.
Love your videos, I actually was just looking to buy one of these. One thing I would really like to see, is if you just open the pressure washers and show us what's inside, it doesn't have to be extensive, just a quick look would tell me a lot, for instance you might see plastic parts vs metal and different pump styles. Anyway keep up the good work!
Or at least a plastic vs metal hose connection. I commented above check out the Active pressure washer. It is the same as the CAT and I think was $200.
Todd needs his own tv show, this is the most informative and educational channel I’ve seen since myth busters. Keep up the amazing work! I’m always looking forward to more videos.

I did not expect this comparison to be of such high quality. The time spent comparing applicable real world aspects was worth me taking the time to leave a comment. What a treat and I really appreciate the speed you moved at to cram all that info into 19 minutes. You get straight to the point and focus only on the meat, nothing else. Todd, I (and I am sure many others) would like to see a comparison of "consumer grade" carpet cleaners (not professional steam extractors). Comparing Hoover, Eureka, Bissell and even Rug Doctor, for cleaning ability and durability would be great. It would be nice to see how these carpet cleaners work on "real world" dirt, as opposed to the staged settings the manufacturers show them working in. Personally, I have always had good luck with Bissell, but it would be great to see how all of the leading brands perform against each other. Just a suggestion. Take care.

The cat pressure washer is made by a company called Active. So if you want to save 25 bucks you can get the exact same performance by buying their VE52 pressure washer.
It looks like the Active version has a better wand holder as well. It doesn't stick straight up like it does on the CAT, however the CAT includes an extra 25 degree nozzle.
Amazing! I was just looking into which one would be best. Todd, I say this every week, but you have the greatest channel on UA-cam. Your dedication to the process is second to none. And you're the only channel that I've turned notifications on for. Thanks for all the great content!!
I borrowed one and now I know why the the estimates for cleaning/staining my deck were so high. Their power washer was a muuuuch larger unit than any of these and actually got the job done in a manner nothing here tested would have.

Man I’ve said it before and i’ll say it again: i really appreciate your videos. They have saved me a TON of time and money. I trust them and I trust you. Haven’t steered me wrong yet. Thank you.
I've had the Sun Joe for a few years now and it's been pretty good. These tests are pretty accurate to my experience. One thing I highly recommend for any of these pressure washers, especially the adjustable tip ones, is to get an inline filter for your hose. It'll save you a lot of hassle by stopping mineral deposits from clogging the nozzles up.
Unfortunately, longevity would not be practical to test. I've got a gas powered 2600 PSI Karcher that still works after 15+ years, but I think they were still made in Germany back then.
If you dont release the pressure in the system after using it by pulling the trigger after you have unplugged it from power and water then at first frost the water left inside the pump will freeze, expand and break your pressure washer. Warranty doesn't cover that as it's in the instructions. Just because no one reads them the pressure washer company wins every year when you need to buy a new one! 🤣
Thanks for taking my recommendation! Means alot that you not only read our comments, but actually take them into consideration. The amount of work and detail you put into each video is amazing and much appreciated. I'll be adding a Stanley pressure washer to my collection of tools, although I'll probably upgrade to the 2150 to avoid that horrendous adjustable nozzle.

I've had a Karcher since 2002 and to this day I still use it and it works fine. That's 22 years later. If all you need it is for cleaning a car and your need longevity, Karcher absolutely blew my mind. I did end up buying a gas Ryobi for $500 at 3300 psi for some heavy duty jobs. Works fine but I've only had it for 8 months so I can't comment on the longevity. However, it does work incredibly well and it's so powerful it can peel paint from siding if you aren't careful.
I’d like to see a automotive oil filter comparison under working conditions. You can find a hundred different videos where oil filters have been dissected but no videos that simulate real world use.
Fort nine channel posted a comprehensive filter type test recently if you're interested. The tldw is paper type actually has the highest filtration performance for all particle sizes but especially smaller size, with fiberglass being worse.
I agree. I have the roll around unit with the soft start. It pulls like 19.9 amps. Barely enough to not trip a breaker, and it went through 2 floods, snow in texas??? and it's been outside since new 3 years ago. Only problem was I had to remove the GFI, 10/10 would recommend.
This is something I am interested in also Great suggestion! We have a Greenworks 60v weedeater that 4 years later still runs GREAT with pretty good battery life, and does a heck of a job at that. I have been curios how their other products stack up, also.
@@ProjectFarm I actually really appreciate the review of these pressure washers. It's really hard telling which ones are actually going to perform to spec in real life situations. Thank you.
The pressure washer labyrinth online is a frustrating web of fake reviews and rebadged clone units. I'm so glad Project Farm has started to try to sort it all out. I ended up going with a Harbor Freight unit with the Predator 212 engine for just a few bucks more than the CAT. Thanks for a great test, PF!
@Ben C Yeah, I have a Honda-based pressure washer from 1997 - I replaced the pump this year, but the engine is still going strong. The old pump was still working, but one of the oil seals on the crank case (of the pump, not the engine) was shot, and oil leaked out, and water got into the crank case. One of the ceramic plungers was cracked which probably started all the problems (probably froze :( ) - you'd be lucky to get 2 or 3 years out of one of these little toys, compared to 24 years out of a quality unit.
Now that you’ve mentioned Sunjoe, I think a VERY good test would be to try all the electric dethatchers. You can include battery powered and cable powered. Basically you could test how much resistance they can take, max and over time, what it takes to overheat, etc.
Your reviews are the best. I have a gas unit, but dragging it out for a car wash is a job in itself. I was debating buying an inexpensive electric pressure washer for car washing, other household tasks and even washing the boat which is at a marina. You saved me hours of work making the Wen pressure washer essentially free. Thanks!

I like your personal recommendations at the end of the video. Your experience with each is valuable and adds to the value of the numbers. Watching how you spray your truck educated me on the new method of cleaning. I've been washing from a bucket and sponge since 1978, only because I didn't have a pressure washer. However, I don't see anything that can replace the traditional wax-on, wax-off method. Thank you sir.
Always appreciate your videos. Just bought an Active pressure washer - which apparently the CAT is, just rebranded. It was $30 cheaper than the Cat. Got it today and cleaned my trashcans. Another great video. I'd love to see a gas grill comparison. Things like uniformity of heat, max temperature, controllability, affect of wind, ease of cleaning. I know this would be more expensive than your normal tests but I think it would be really helpful in buying a new grill.
I BBQ alot. 4-5 days a week. All year long. I have had almost every propane BBQ made. Full size and portable. Most work pretty good overall and will cook food. The real issue with propane BBQ's is longevity and price. Because I'm a cheapskate, I tried most cheaper brands. None worked at 100% for more than 3 years. None. Usually 1 1/2-2 years and the igniter doesn't work. Also the burners start to go. Then one year I got a weber genesis as a birthday present. I knew the webers were good because other family members had them. After 22 years, I finally rebuilt it with a new igniter and burners. Worked like new again. I gave it to my son and now it's almost 30 years old and still cooks like a champ. I started picking up old weber that people threw out and I rebuild them and sell them cheap. So easy to do. I would love to see a BBQ shootout. I think the hardest thing to test would be longevity so we would need yearly updates. Weber BBQs are usually at least twice as much as most other BBQ but will last almost forever. You really can't compare the overall value and even cooking of a weber to ANY other BBQ in my life experience. Also the weber company is such a pleasure to deal with. I'm looking forward to this video if/when it happens. Thanks for all your hard work!
I like the adjustable nozzles, after working with one that has tips you have to swap out every time the situation calls for a different spray pattern, I’ve found they’re much easier to work with.
The only thing I see of value here is the production and his great work ethic. All the products are sub-par at best ... it's time we started manufacturing at home once again!
Had always borrowed a gas powered unit from work for the Spring deck and walkway cleaning. This Spring I bought the CAT unit and it works perfectly. Using the 25 degree nozzle it has just the right amount of stripping power to clean the Vermont winter grime off the wood and prep it all for summer.

Test metal paints next please! I'm especially interested in seeing if there's a difference between Rust-Oleum Professional and regular Rust-Oleum, as well as if there's a difference between brush-on and spray-on rust paint, and if putting metal primer on before rust paint actually improves performance. I couldn't really find much information on that anywhere online! Anyway, thanks for reading, and best of luck :) Thank you for all the work you've done to help us consumers (and hobbyists) make informed decisions on what to buy! My hobby is metal fabrication, and the information you've provided has been extremely helpful in stretching my limited budget when buying cutoff wheels, flap discs, etc. I can't stress enough how awesome your channel is.
Doing misc steel fab myself, I have taken to using Cold Galvanizing Spray instead of primer. I hadn’t found rustoleum paint to be better than regular enamels. After applying CGS, I cover with the least expensive spray paint you can get. The zinc rich CGS coating prevents corrosion in steel.
I do old machinery restos and would like to se a test between rattlecan paints and paint from a cup gun like an hvlp. Sherwin Williams Industrial Enamel is my go to.

This is accurate. The Active version was about $11 cheaper on Amazon. I paid the extra because I'm a shallow person who needs the ego boost of owning a CAT product.
I have a Ryobi similar to the one you tested, I considered it disposable when I bought it for 100 bucks but have been absolutely abusing the hell out of it for 4 years now, and it still works at the same mediocre performance as when it was new.
Especially GPM WITH a nozzle installed. Pretty useless to measure the GPM with no nozzle. That's how you know this is "consumer level" junk products - when the specs all have asterisks after them, you know it's "quality"
Lol I use only gas power washers, since most times a person needs them is for mobility as well as they’re usually more powerful. A garden hose and power washer hose is enough to get tangled in for a project. Now add the electric wire and extensions. Awesome video keep it up 👍 really enjoyed these
The best informational video on UA-cam. I live and breathe by his recommendations because he has nothing to gain except a huge following. Heck I even watched his mower blade sharpener video and we have a landscaping company cut our grass. It is just great information. I bought a Mossy Oak multi purpose tool after watching his video. Like he said, its not the best but for the price it is a good value. Job well done sir!
Suggestion time: I won't hold my breath on this one just since the prep-legwork involved in keeping everything objectively even would suuuuuuck, **BUT** having a clear-coat durability test for manufacturers who claim to make durable c.c.'s would be WONDERFUL! Whatever you decide just keep the great vids rolling along! 👍👍🏆🥇
same, i only know of the tall ones with wheels, just like my previous 2. first one lasted 25 years and that was because the high pressure line froze and burst. Left it out in the winter :(
I think it could be helpful to mention any excessive terms in the warranties such as paying shipping both ways. It also would be great if you could call customer service for each one posing as a customer with an issue to see how hard it is to get assistance. They’ve all got warranties but if you can’t take them up on it it is worthless. Thanks for the great work!
I would've wanted to see the internals compared....are any of the pressure chambers made of metal rather than the cheap plastic ones that crack after a couple of years.
That would be interesting. By any chance the motor on the Karcher runs continuously? Because the pressure drop at the begining might be the effect of a so called offloader valve. Better (industrial) units does not start/stop cycle the motor with a pressure switch, instead there is an interesting valve which reduces the pressure to some idle level when there is no flow. Then when you press the trigger, it senses the flow and changes over to high pressure. A simple blow-off valve would continuously load the pump at max pressure, which is not ideal.
@@howardosborne8647 What I've heard is that unfortunately even many "mid priced" models use plastics these days. By mid price I mean range between cheapos and water heating models. It's really unfortunate as models in that range are fairly expensive. I sincerely hope that these are minority, but still, I've heard quite many people having "reputable" brands break in way too short time period. I fully understand their pain if they find plastics in pumps. I had to get pressure washer and I went for one of the cheapos because of that. I'm almost 100% certain that it has plastics, but it's cheap and well it's lasted better than I've anticipated. I suppose pretty much only guaranteed way to get better materials is to have heater models, but that's a steep price and quite overkill to pay for normal household usage.
There were a lot of similarities between the guns and (I'd imagine) the innards, but the housings were all a little different, with slightly different features. It's a little bit more than just putting your logo on a white label product.
I don’t know about anyone else but I usually have to play PF videos on .75X speed so I can actually absorb the information presented. I don’t know of any videos that are more packed with raw information and no fluff than PF! There is so much information that you could include a link to an Excel spreadsheet file with all the results from the products tested. I could see that being really useful if I were shopping for something like an electric pressure washer! Sort by weight, price, gpm, etc. whatever you are interested in.
If you ever do a round 2 of this, DeWalt JUST came out with a pressure washer. Seems to be pretty good, would be interesting to see how it measures up!
Is it possible to do a test on different “permanent markers” on an all around style writing surface which may include wood, metal (a couple different kinds), plastic, glass, drywall, concrete, cloth (of different sorts?). I just have been trying to find a decent one and KNOW your tests will give me the best answer.
Not a permanent marker, but are you aware of wax type pencils like stabilo pencils? They're designed to write on any surface, but it's wax so comes off easy. Not sure if that's relevant to your needs
I work in a laboratory where we write on specialized labels that are frozen and thawed. Sharpies were our go to, but the label material seems to cause them to lose their ink far too easily. We experimented with others and the bic intensity markers are far superior! We were absolutely amazed by how long they last.
I was surprised not to see the Greenworks brand in the lineup. Pretty common brand and one I own. Compact unit like the others and seems to work well enough.

Take care.

I've had the Sun Joe for a few years now and it's been pretty good. These tests are pretty accurate to my experience.

Best explanation for comparing PSI vs. GPM
PSI: how fast you swing a hammer
GPM: How big of a hammer you swing
GPM is boss.
Thanks for sharing.
Especially GPM WITH a nozzle installed. Pretty useless to measure the GPM with no nozzle. That's how you know this is "consumer level" junk products - when the specs all have asterisks after them, you know it's "quality"

I would've wanted to see the internals compared....are any of the pressure chambers made of metal rather than the cheap plastic ones that crack after a couple of years.
Thanks for the constructive feedback.
Me too. I wonder if the CAT brand is a brass headed pump.
Metal vs plastic doesnt say much. There are good plastic and bad metals in the market.
Looks like the same factory makes some of these washers and the Brands just have them slap their name and a different color on them. How original.
Thanks for the feedback.
That’s how most things are made nowadays if you haven’t already noticed.

I work in a laboratory where we write on specialized labels that are frozen and thawed. Sharpies were our go to, but the label material seems to cause them to lose their ink far too easily. We experimented with others and the bic intensity markers are far superior! We were absolutely amazed by how long they last.
Manufacturer; innocuous marketing fluff
Project Farms; "we're gonna test that!"
Manufacturer: *nervous laughter*
Okay this one is a longshot, but how about which tarp brand is best?
As always- thank you for the awesome videos!
You are welcome! Thanks for the suggestion.
I would love this as well!!!
@@ProjectFarm Treat yourself. Do "Which massage parlor is best?".
I DON'T THINK I ever sent a thank-you for doing this video. Great review. I got the Stanley and it seems to be doing fine after 2 use seasons. Thanks.
You are welcome! Glad to hear!
I was surprised not to see the Greenworks brand in the lineup. Pretty common brand and one I own. Compact unit like the others and seems to work well enough.
Thanks for the constructive feedback.
Can you do a gas pressure washer video? With brands such as, Craftsman, Ford, Briggs and Stratton, Predator, Dewalt, and Simpson.
I misread Simpson for Simson, the latter one being a popular but out of business moped manufacturer in Germany. XD
Thanks for the video idea.
Also Generac, curious to see if their generator reputation translates to their power washers!
The left side of that Suburban is spotless.
lol Good Point!
