Spider-Man No Way Home Was Almost Ruined

- Today, we're taking a look at some of the rejected concepts and ideas for Spider-Man No Way Home. I've said it a lot in this video, but the concept artists themselves are great, it's the ideas that the writers were throwing around that are a problem. There's some crazy stuff in here from an Iron Man Green Goblin all the way to Andrew Garfield's Amazing Spider-Man losing one of his best moments of the film. #spiderman #spidermannowayhome #moviereview

Great video dude
Wdym almost ruined dawg this movie was dogshit
The disappointment for me is that not once Tobey and William Defoe interact with each other.
Yeah biggest dissapointment
What about the fact that he gets stabbed by the glider, a scene which totally pisses over the epic first film scene just for a shock reaction from the audience
Or Tobey seeing J Jonah Jameson
@@fitnessealliancehe didn't get stabbed by the glider he got stabbed by one of those knife gauntlets that goblin had on his wrist
@@fitnessealliancegoblin stabbed him with his knife not the glider calm down
One thing I wish they actually did, they almost gave Lizard his clothes.
That would have been kind of neat. I miss the lab coat and pants
@@DegenerateJay Classic lizard would have been dope. I always thought he looked a little like the 80s Mario movie Goombah design in ASM. I like the movie but hes just odd looking to me.
@@andyowski1515"Is that uh dinosaur? "
I wouldn't call the cloak catching MJ a bad idea, just Andrew's Peter doing it is a much BETTER idea. It certainly would've been a lesser movie, especially if they find themselves battling throughout the Tobey and/or Andrew universes before either of those two show up (which, that fight with Dr. Strange was much earlier in the film). I do wish we'd gotten a less contrived way of introducing Andrew and Tobey, but overall what we got was just better.
It's not necessarily terrible with the cloak at all but it would be such a typical "Crossover MCU" moment compared to that emotional Andrew scene that I'm so glad that didn't happen. I do think randomly shoving Vulture in the movie would have compromised the structure though since it had to juggle a lot and we saw from the "More Fun Stuff" extended cut that they did that they already cut some good moments just to get the movie to what it was.
Plus the cloak catched Ned in the movie so we still got the idea of the cloak catching someone.
@@MasterTemplar781 They probably just reworked the idea but yeah I prefer the way they did it
I agree if Andrew wasn't in there cloak catching her wouldn't be bad at all. However Andrew catching her saving her after he failed Gwen was great I wish it wasn't spoiled for me otherwise I would have cried in theater
NWH is such a flawed movie that gets juuuust enough of the important beats down for me to still love it and even call it decent. Plot was pretty contrived but most multiversal characters served a genuine purpose for the story and narrative, and aside from that this movie didn’t make the mistake of throwing cheap laughs in every second to water down the emotional scenes. Between May’s death and the final fight the direction nailed it just like the Civil War climax
Tom Hardy’s Venom was supposed to be a big part of the movie. Venom was going to bond with Tobey’s Spider-Man after he was stabbed to get the knife out
I'm kinda glad Venom wasn't in there one I'm kinda sick of venom and 2 while I love Rami's venom I think Venom could use a proper redemption in live action with a Spiderman
@@theoutsiderjess1869 I mean movie Venom is pretty accurate to 90s Venom’s characterization
@@wsmstudio3329 Yeah the charicterization is fine. Not the movie. Motivations and character arcs went out the window.
I do at least like that they balanced his goofy and edgy elements.
@@cradodragmire1563 I find the movies fun but I think they could have done a lot more with Venom to really dive into the character instead of almost trying to skip his entire connection to Spider-Man in the first 2 movies and just act like it wasn't a thing.
@@wsmstudio3329I don’t really agree. Movie venom is nothing like the GOAT (90s animated Venom)
They gave AVI ARAD a big thank you in the credits
But you know who else deserves a big thank you?
LAURA ZISKIN
It was because of her and her partner (the screenwriter Alvin Sargent) that the original trilogy and TASM1 had depth
Arad on the other hand just wanted to use the movies to sell toys
I make sure to find a comment crediting Laura and her work in every Raimi Spider-Man trilogy video.
If there isn't one, then I just write it myself.
Nice to see more people acknowledging their work.
You copied this comment from another video, don't you? I've seen this one before.
Avi arad is the cancer of spiderman media
nice
RIP
“LuLZ it aLreaDY sux!” Well haters, would you prefer if Disney DIDNT put Andrew and Tobey on good terms with Sony?
Yeah I see a lot of that. Idk I enjoyed the movie. Feel like people who didn't missed out on some fun but that's their right IG.
Ned on that glider in the thumbnail is cursed just on its own lmao
Yeah it's cursed since the comic book version of Ned is the Hobgoblin
@@The_Blue_OtakuNo he isn't
The Ned as Hobgoblin reveal was an attempt by a writer to sabotage the original writer of Hobgoblin. Hobgoblin was originally intended to be Richard Fisk (Kingpin's son), but was later changed to Rodrick Kingsley.
@@GalazyProductions Yeah didn't they retcon it and say he was framed?
@@teezoowazoo7272 Yup. There was a lot of shenanigans involving Hobgoblin.
Fun fact: In the comics, Norman Osborn was the first 'n original Iron Patriot. (Sony owns the rights to Norman Osborn, so instead, Rhodey became Iron Patriot in Iron Man 3)
AHH YESS A TRANSFORMERS FAN
I'm glad Spider-Man and Dr Strange going through different Spider-Verses got scrapped. Sure it would've looked cool, but that's doing too much.
plus it downplays the ability to travel through other universes. something this and MoM made out to be a pretty big deal
@@autobotproductions1244 Exactly, one of the plot points in MoM was that Strange got trapped in one of the universes. Having Strange and Peter universe hopping during the movie would have made that a plot hole.
The multiverse fight between Peter and Strange could’ve worked if they went through locals from the big scenes but not the scene itself, we see the bridge from Spider-Man 1, the flatiron building, the military site where Sandman was made, Oscorp tower, locations that at first makes it look like they’re just teleporting but as it goes it becomes clear that they’re going through the multiverse to important locations to these multiversal Spider-Men
Locales would have been awesome. Randomly fighting in front of Mr Ditkovich or in a crowded wrestling arena is where it's weird for me, so I agree.
@@DegenerateJayit could have been good, the fan service would have been crazy and they would've done it great. I don't see how it's weird.
@@DegenerateJayfighting in front of Dikovich would have shattered the universe
The biggest missed opportunity is having the original goblin mask attached to the front of the glider. Kept the mask relevant while having the new look. And some versions of the glider used to have a little demon like head on the front so it’s also a nice callback. Whoever said no to that needs to be fired. Not really but man. Lol.
I wished Green Goblin kept his mask on. He would have definitely looked cool & be relevant from the original series.
Having a shattered broken version of it on the glider would have been epic
I think the reason why I love Nwh so much is because they completely destroyed Peter's connection to Tony(I could have liked it if Tony was a proper mentor like he was in Endgame and infanty war however in homecoming he kinda undermines Peter's intelligence alot which made me despise the mentor angle)He finally stopped looking for a mentor and started to look towards his family for guidance and in doing so he finally starts to grow up and be responsible something that didn't happen in homecoming and especially Far from home. He finally became spiderman and having other Peter Parkers there who knows what he is going trhough one who made it in life and the other still grieving who loves being Spiderman brought out the best in Tom's Peter
@@EmperorGuyver?
@@EmperorGuyver idk how this is a pretty common opinion if you agree with it or not.
Peter really was just kinda rebelling against Tony for the majority of Homecoming tbf. It’s why I never take the “Iron Boy Jr” meme seriously when people say he was simping the entire time
@@EmperorGuyver And then he went ahead and hacked his suit, attempted to stop an a weapons but after specifically being told to stay away, and went on to stop a heist without his suit after being cut off from Tony. Just because he didn’t give a “fuck you” to Tony, doesn’t mean he wasn’t rebelling
@@EmperorGuyver I don’t think anything I’ve said was a lie. Maybe we have two very different definitions of rebelling/what constitutes it.
The only reason why I would be OK with the vulture, playing a role in this film would be so we can finally have a sinister six (and some representation for Tom Holland’s Villains).
Although I think, having the vulture in this film would’ve probably added an unnecessary element to the plot
I think putting Vulture in instead of the Lizard or Sandman who were just CGI would have been the better move.
@@robertcop8825 knowing Marvel they would've been all CGI anyway
I just want Scorpion to show up in a future Spider-man movie so his tease from Homecoming's post credit will finally make sense
i feel they specifically didnt do 6 so that they could do that in his 6th spiderman movie
@@Imghostiettv he would fit into spiderman 4 perfectly as a street level villian for a street level spiderman
There was also concept art to give Lizard a more comic-accurate look and I gotta say I would’ve rather had some of that concept art over them just reusing the Amazing Spider-Man design
The purple stark gear on Goblin would’ve been cool. Kinda like when Mysterio used dead stark to mess with peter. I think it would’ve pushed peter’s anger even more and Tobey would have def needed to intervene at the end.
Fuck that im so tired of pushing tony stark into everything spiderman related
@@LaloSalamancaGaming69Well considering his connection to stark is severed at the end of the film, I think it could’ve worked with it bring his final step toward being independent
Plus Norman was Iron Patriot for a bit in the comics so I think it would be cool nod to that as well
I was going to say the same thing. I'm okay that they didn't go in that direction but I can see what they would've been going for.
I think venom should've been the opening scene. A piece of him breaking off and that piece showing up on the finale. Starting off as completing the sinister 6 and then switching sides and aiding the Spider-men
Marvel went with the safest options by keeping the characters the same and improving things like making Electro yellow and letting Norman Osborn show off his crazy facial expressions without the mask. So well done Marvel for making the fans happy
This just shows how dedicated and knowledgeable the writers are on the source material.
Lmao, there's a lot of continuity errors/plot holes/retconned stuff between No Way Home and the other movies
This is Spider-Man's movie, if it was a C or D-Lister's instead theirs would get absolutely butchered.
@AnAnimatorsWorld i mean, have you read a comic? Its the most conviluted insane retconned thing on earth, still lovr it tho
[08:30] Something I respected about this take was how Norman Osborn actually stood on his own, without needing to be built up. He was so jaded and angry with power suppression that he sought to rectify his mistake with Tobey and FORCE Holland to embrace godhood. He almost succeeded, too, where Holland would have ended his life, forever. He was also beating him, like a dog, on that shield. It was probably one of the darkest moments in all the MCU, right up there with Captain America throwing a Hydra soldier into an engine, or Rocket getting tortured.
It also was a great reflection of how Garfield said that he grew rageful with time, meaning that Norman is 100% correct that power corrupts if given time. The legacy of Stark was also in this movie, where the villains aren't executed (Stane, Vanko, Killian). The Arc Reactor being used to power Electro was a nice touch. It shows that Peter has literally beaten what made his mentor special; he was THE future of Marvel as he seeks to understand and heal, rather than destroy.
I really like this analysis of it, especially the second paragraph. Couldn't have said it better myself. Tbh, you could write a really good essay paper on that idea alone.
That means a lot coming from your insights into popular culture. Thank you for the support! If I ever make a UA-cam video about it, I'll make sure to credit you for the inspiration.
You also have to remember that America Chavez was originally gonna be in the film as it was originally gonna be released after *_Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness_* but because of the pandemic, the release dates were switched, so *_No Way Home_* was released first and the scripts for both films had to be reworked to accommodate the switch. Makes sense as in the concept art when Strange and Spidey were fighting over the Book of Vishanti instead of the Machina Di Kadavus.
I’m sorry- them fighting through tobey and andrews universe would’ve been so cool, I don’t think it’s too much at all- it would be like a “they’re coming later” moment
Idk I feel like it’s a bit much to just shove them into previous scenes like the wrestling match. It would also be a whole other time trip issue with its implications.
Really depends how they do it imo. Them being thrown into the wrestling match is a bit much. Normal locations would have worked okay.
That would kinda spoil the cameo twist though
@@NewOrderOfAlexandria definitely definitely but hughmongus got a point with how they do it! To clarify I meant only visiting the locations, it wouldn’t make much sense to throw them into the scenes of the movie cause that implies all types of time travel shenanigans as well
I wish Gobby kept his helmet although, the suit looked a bit different to me. Bigger helmet, different paint, bigger lenses.
I didn't mind Goblin without his helmet. It put more focus on Willem's face and how even without the mask, he was menacing.
At some point, there was an idea to include Mysterio among the villains. There was concept art created of him fighting Dr. Strange atop the Statue of Liberty in the mirror dimension. I'm not sure if the idea was that it was a variant of Beck, or if it would have been revealed that he faked his death, or if Strange's spell would have somehow resurrected him.
He was supposed to come from the cracks in the multiverses after Norman blows up the box. It was revealed like in that universe he actually DID have powers.
Gardians of the gallaxy vol.3 would have been the only good MCU film since Endgame....That's terrifying
I think this was our best chance to see the Sinister Six on the big screen, so the Vulture would have made sense to me. And I know that I’m probably in the minority here, but Norman using iron man’s chest peace would have been okay for me. Norman sees himself as Peter’s mentor, so of course he’d desecrate something from Peter’s actual mentor. It was kinda a plot point from No Way Home that didn’t work and it wouldn’t have made sense to rehash it so I get why it wasn’t included.
Bro Ned was gonna wear a Mets hoodie???? LFGM! Shoulda kept that!
That was kinda neat.
The new "Across the Spider-Verse" absolutely sucked. I fell asleep the first two times trying to watch it, and the third time watching it was still boring as hell. It was written like an episode of Rick and Morty, Did not feel like the previous movie let alone a Spider-man movie.
Honestly I'm disappointed Norman didn't steal the Iron Patriot suit. Would have loved to have seen him wear it.
Ironically when I first saw it in Iron Man 3 I predicted William Defoe would SOMEHOW get into the MCU. But when he did... He didn't wear the suit. IT'S HIS SUITTT 😭
There’s a bit of concept art that shows goblin having stolen a dark elf mask and painting it green which I would have loved to see
The cloak catched Ned in the movie instead of MJ so we still got the idea of the cloak catching someone. Also in my opinion it would've been fun to see Ned in the hobgoblin colors. Bc in the movie he wears like yellow and blue instead of orange and blue. I also think it could've been fun to see Ned on the glider just not actually flying it. Like that maybe he stands on it trying to get it to fly at some point but doesn't know how it works so he can't. Or that he's like flying it but very badly and that he just can't balance correctly or do anything with it so he just gets off the glider. I'd like the first idea more just bc it wouldn't need to be a long scene or anything. Just him standing on the glider is good enough for me. I'm not even sure if they are gonna make Ned the hobgoblin i mean in the movie they hint at the hobgoblin with Ned saying "i promise i'll never become evil and try to kill you." But ya know Ned most likely forgot that promise just like he forgot Peter. And then in concept art they gave him the hobgoblin colors and were even willing to put him on the goblin's glider. So i don't know if these were just refrences to Ned bein Hobgoblin in the comics or if it are hints to Ned becoming the hobgoblin in the MCU. I think refrences or hints or both maybe.
I dont think Ned should fly on it however him standing on it and having the Green Goblin smirk at him for a second before snapping back to Norman could foreshadow him being Hobgoblin like the comics. However Norman never carried the Glider with him when peter meets him
Ned is annoying af in most instances tho.
I was really happy they went with the memory wipeout at the end of the film.
One of the weirdest shots in the movie when Ned is floating down lol
But then if you would have had Vulture in the movie, you genuinely would have gotten a Sinister Six.
Nah, Vulture and Mysterio have already been used in the previous films.
But the SINISTER SIX villain that NWH is truly lacking was Dane DeHaan's Harry Osbourne returning as the Hobgoblin.
Totally get this perspective, though they'd have to actually be Sinister since Ock was cured relatively early and the immediately sided with Peter.
If Sony greenlits TASM3 or SPIDERMAN 4
They'll have to get rid of AVI ARAD
Or else, it will be just another failure
Great video Jay I enjoy hearing about what could of be in no way home ever there I glad some of the stuff didn’t make it in the film
AVI ARAD didn't ruin this movie
But he's definitetly gonna ruin BORDERLANDS, VENOM 3 and KRAVEN THE HUNTER
The same way he ruined TASM2, UNCHARTED and MORBIUS
The entire movie is basically "remember the thing?" so adding this would've not changed anything.
At least this movie didn't rely solely on cameos and nostalgia/hype factor to succeed like ATSV did
@@ultradeathboy What? ATSV didn't rely on cameos to exist while NWH couldn't even stand as a movie on its own without being attached to the previous films and it's unenjoyable without the hype factor.
What is bro on
@@Real_DvD I'm just telling the truth 😎

Fun fact there is more fan art of American Chavez being apart of no way home in the original plan MOM was supposed to released first then No way home
second cool fact there a picture online showing Peter getting stabbed by goblin then Mj grabs hold of goblin and is prepared to inject him with the antidote
Im dissapointed that Bully McGuire didnt make it in the film
Idk why but the idea of Spider-Man and strange fighting in different universes like tasm and raimi verse I imagine it playing out like in monsters inc with the doors 😂😂
People hated Stark in the Spider-Man movies? I loved the relationship they had, and I loved Iron Man being there. Movie’s would’ve been lesser without him. But I did find the goblin with Iron Man’s MARK 6’s chest plate kinda dumb looking
I know that They had May be Peters Uncle Ben, but I just WISH this was their Gina time reference Ben, like ONE LINE like when she was dying she could’ve just said “remember what your Uncle Ben used to Say” then great power great responsibility saying. That’s something I would’ve added just one line about Ben
to me Tom Holland isn't the worst version of Peter Parker, he's the worst version of Miles Morales that for some reason has the name Peter Parker, because they basically tore tons from Miles' mythos to make him "new" and swapped the mentor to Iron Man instead of Peter, when they could've just introduced an old retired Peter into the MCU anyway and I'm just people wouldn't have been nearly as mad
That observation makes sense of why the MCU keeps giving Miles' own friends to Peter, such as modeling Ned Leeds after Ganke Lee.
They missed the point on Peter's friends just to make the Spider-Man Home Trilogy "less white".
The point is to depict Peter as an unfortunate teenager who doesn't realize how fortunate he is because of his wealthy friends and hot girlfriends.
The MCU Peter on the other hand... The writers turned Peter into a complete outcast who makes friends with average and annoying teens who are only there to be "diverse".
The Lizard concept art still annoys me cause of how perfect it was. It was pretty much a 1 to 1 look from the comics that didn’t make it to the movie. So I believe they didn’t use that design because it wouldn’t look like the Lizard from TASM however, I feel like it could have been easily explained like that he is evolving differently because he is in another universe or that he is becoming more reptilian than human cause of how long he has been Lizard. Idk, I feel like they could have potentially gave us one of the best Lizard designs but disappointedly couldn’t deliver.
No Way Home had its problems, but it could’ve been worse.
Ned isn’t the Hobgoblin, He’s the CEO of sex 😂😂😂, I cried when I saw the Otto concept art, we almost had peak
Honestly, if the concept art ideas could have worked if they were handled well. I think it would have been pretty hard to mess up ideas for the concepts if you ask me, if these ideas were gonna be handled by people or someone that cares for the material of those ideas. Would it have been as good as what we got in the final product? I wouldn’t think so, but the art and ideas are stuff I’m always gonna respect.
I like the idea of Iron goblin it combines iron Patriot and the green goblin it would be cool to re use it if they ever do a dark avengers or dark reing movie
The only reason I'm against Goblin using Stark stuff is that we JUST did that with Mysterio. If not, I think it could have been a neat way to bookend the connections to Iron Man, with Tom's Peter facing what his mentor made.
I actually love the idea of Dr. Strange and Peter fighting through the multiverse it makes more sense than the mirror dimension to me the only place i didn't like was where Gwen died
Almost sucked? I know people liked it but it did suck imo
I did like the Stark connection to it too but something more internal. Arc reactor. Not a chest plate.
Which we got, just with different villains. Honestly the chest plate looks and sounds like something that would’ve happened in the millions of comics out there by now
Nah 100% I am glad they threw out so much Stark shit. It was one of the worst parts of Homecoming and the absolute killer for me in Far from Home. The fact both of Tom's villains had beef with Stark is just insane to me and made Spider-Man into the relentlessly memed Iron Boy Jr. And as far as I'm concerned No Way Home is the first actually great Holland movie. Well deserved since he obviously loves the character.
In a more perfect universe where the leaks didn't happen, I think Spider-Man and Dr.Strange wrestling through the multiverse would have been interesting. It probably would have been best if their time in the other Spider-Man universes was kept brief while they tumbled through other miscellaneous multiverses.
To claim that Spidey and Doctor Strange fighting in iconic places from previous movies wouldn’t make sense…
I mean the whole film doesn’t make sense and I like the idea it would give audiences who know the locations a bit of hype generated over the idea that. Not only have the villains been acknowledged, not only locations but that would surely mean the Spider Men too.
Idk quite like the idea personally. I thought the random meaningless CGI equivalent that we got is pretty forgettable.
Love the video btw!
I feel like Norman would not use stark tech because, he would have a hard time admitting someone has better tech
I’m actually glad to see you talk about this as I don’t see many UA-camrs discuss this. I tend to see news sites post about the art on social media and the comments are typically filled with the same “oh, we were robbed!” without going into detail as to how those ideas would have enhanced the movie.
Personally, I agree with you that a lot of these ideas, while cool, don’t really add to the overall story and in some cases actually distract from what the movie is trying to do.
I’ve seen similar discussions with concept art from Avengers: Endgame and yet, similar to NWH, the concept art/scrapped ideas didn’t really add anything to the overall movie.
The movie we've got was shallow....
I saw another youtuber talk about this a few months ago however I don't remember the channel
@@almas4663I don’t think that’s true, Peter himself showed an insane amount of personal change in this movie, in some ways better and in some ways worse, which is incredibly realistic for normal people. Not to mention the characters of Tobey and Andrew’s Peters, who convey a lot about the time since we last saw them without explicitly saying anything.
I can see how the convoluted-ness of the first act would throw people off, but I personally think that the character arcs and character interactions we get later on more than make up for it
@@carlosjimenez8307 The first act is unbearable...The second act is pure filler and bastardization of characters, for the purpose of cheap MCU humor...Then the third act jump-out with a solid start (Goblin's breakout, Aunt May's death, Triple-J's speech), only to get back to unbearably slow pacing, idiotic writing, immature humor and gen Z memes....
All the "Fan-service" is reduced to "Yo, do you sh*t webs? Yo, what villains did you fought? You, my back hurts! Yo, you're Amazing!"
Then we get an okay action scene, a solid scene with MJ's save and Andrew's redemption...A decent fight between Goblin and Peter....And an improvised ending that wasn't even planned originally.
It wasn't a movie for Spider-Man fans, it was a midiocre movie for MCU to get millions with, that completely wasted all of it's good ideas, but found time for the most shallow and useless jokes and dialogues
@@almas4663 alright man, just from that rant I can already tell that there would be no reasonable discussion with you, seeing how you conveniently stripped away major aspects of the movie and minimize other parts in order to fit your viewpoint. No nuance, outright lying or deliberately misinterpreting, just keep raging ig
The concept art of the Green Goblin with a purple painted Iron Man armor would have been cool tbh. As for classic suit Doc Ock, I am glad they did not go that route. I love the design, but it is not fitting to the characterization of this version of him from Spider-Man 2. I love Molina's portrayal, but for me he isn't comic book accurate Doc Ock, but instead stole Venom's gimmick. Deep down he was a good guy, which is not Doc Ock at all. When I see the classic Doc Ock costume I think of a character that is far more sinister.
I feel like before when all the Peters were making cures. Tom made his homemade suit with them as they inspire him to go back to the classic suit.
Boy some of these put The Batmans Joker skin condition in perspective lol
I wish we got more scenes/the scenes went on for more minutes of people knowing who Spider-Man is & maybe him trying to get in contact with other sups
No this movie was a horrible Spider-Man movie . It was literally just nostalgia porn and y’all Tom holland Stan’s are going dick ride his version of Spider-Man because you’re like 15 . And most of y’all have never read the comics and it shows .
If we are talking about MCU, i would really like to see a video about Thor Ragnarok. Considering original original story in comic books(vol 2 80-85) and concept arts this was supposed to be one of the darkest and grumpiest movies in the MCU, but instead turned to be funny buddy movie.
Peter and strange fighting where gwen died would of been amazing if it happened later in the movie when andrew and tobey are already there, and tom goes off to fight strange while the other two try and catch the villains would of been cool
They should've redesigned Lizard to have the snout, and maybe the lab coat. Lizard's movie design is probably the worst comic-to-movie design of any of Spidey's main villains and it was a missed opportunity to correct that with this film.
My only complaint about the movie, was that they got rid of the Goblin mask early on. When he comes out of the smoke, not only did my childhood flood back to me, but it just looked badass. It actually didn't look as out of place as I thought. Granted it looks a bit cartoony, and Power Ranger-esque, but he managed to make it menacing. I thought once he smashed the mask they were going to go with more of a Hobgoblin type scenario, even though that's a different character. I understand it though. It kind of fits with the story, and if you're paying all that money to get Willem Defoe to come back, then you might as well get his face in front of the camera as much as possible.
Its because some fans complained about the og mask
And in the original movie they wasted the opportunity to have willem dafoe do the expressions since he is a very expressive actor
In nwh proves that, making the green goblin even more insane
I had that same complaint. But tbh, now that I have watched it a few times, Willem Dafoe without the mask just works better. His method acting, and facial expressions add a great dimension to the film.
They also updated his armour to match closer to the comic version without looking goofy, and it worked well.
Another reason they did the mask away was to probably just keep the Classic look intact, and not mess too much with it.
I think a good workaround would have been Tobey shattering his mask with his punch. As they had a brief confrontation on the Statue of Liberty, which was omitted from the theatrical cut.
I'm VERY happy they destroyed that shitty mask, for one
Am I the only one who noticed that even though tobey got "stabbed" by GG in the end of the movie, theres no blood, or anything on his suit. It just looks really goofy because like he got stabbed but theres no evidence. Almost like the they didn't notice it in the final drafts of the movie. if you don't believe me go back and watch. theres NOTHING no stab marks or blood or anything on him.
There's the Bkack Suit concept art.
And I think there was something with Mysterio vs Dr Strange
I like the idea of gobby using pieces of early iron man tech. I also like the idea of the dimension jumping. If they made it quick.
They could have easily went with the classic lizard with lab coat
This movie was the absolute worst. Every one of Hollands Spiderman was increasingly dogshit, he played second fiddle in each one of the movies. The first one, he was the side chick to Iron Man. The second, he was the side chick to Mysterio. And the third he was ran a train on by Dr. Strange, 2 other Spidermen, and a knock off Sinister 5
Another thing off about Holland's Spider-Man:
He's too soft, I'm talking unfunny "safe-space friendly" soft.
The actual Spider-Man wouldn't be afraid to fat-shame criminals like Kingpin or gay-shame opponents like Bonesaw.
Also, all of Peter's friends are depicted as the loser friends of Miles Morales.
@@KenMasters. omg dude 2 weeks later and I'm still heated asf about this. And you're absolutely right there's NOTHING Spider-Man like about Holland other than he looks like Peter in the cartoon. Besides that, he brings NOTHING to the character. I haven't heard him make one quip and when I go back and try to rewatch them the only thing I'm getting is "UA-camr pretending to be Spider-Man"
Dude, people all over the world have seen Spider-man films. The first idea with Strange and Hollands Spidey transversing the other movies scenes would have been way cooler than what we got. Plus tease the possibility of those characters having bigger parts.
Heavy Handed? Please. The idea of the movie IS multiverses crossing over. It makes sense because those other Spideys DO show up.
The worst idea is Strange’s cloak catching MJ. It had to be Garfield saving her. It’s HIS moment of personal redemption. He even basically says/shows that…
Also, It would have made sense if Norman had some Stark Tech. Why? It would have made a great way to tie up and put a bow on Peter emotions with Stark, the tech etc. Then clearly move on like he did at the end. But it would have been a slap in Peter’s face that the Man who Killed his Aunt May, was now wearing his Mentor/Friend and fellow Avenger’s left over Legacy…. That’s a missed opportunity…
i mean the inconsistent in-universe logic, awfully convenient moments, story filled with plot holes and weird cgi still make nwh while a good spiderman movie, kinda ruined
The switch up on no way home is mad crazy, hating for no reason and its always the exact same point they’re making, like bots lmao
The movie still did suck. It was only this, Black Panther 2 and The Marvels that were worth anything in this MCU phase. The only things that made this film watchable was the fan service at the overzealous Fanboys keep praising, take that away this movie makes very little sense when you think about it
Explain
@@why-oh-wai I just did. Literally
The movie is just ok these ideas dont bother me
The Ned one works better if he were brainwashed
Since theres no real connection to tas the doc ock suit doesnt work maybe if it were more of comic design
Kinda wish they went that route with goblin and allowed him to upgrade his villain potency and at the end goblin actually give the 3 spiderman a run for their money etc... just my thoughts... iron man pulse hand blasters and upgraded glider etc... it is kinda stupid not to have him update his shit
and then instead of leaving a defeated Norman helpless,
he would instead use Tony Stark's tech for good and becomes Iron Patriot like in the Avengers comics.
Them falling through the clock tower from TASM2 and a subtle scene like the alley from SM1 where Peter and MJ missed would have been subtle enough not to feel like too much fanservice and a great tease for what was to come, but that's just me
The clock tower I'm fine with. The other ones they showed were a little much for me. It wouldn't really make any sense to just have them going through ditkovich's place or randomly being inserted into the Bonesaw fight. I think those were probably the ones for me that seem like they were just heavy-handed.
I wanna hear more about some of The Lizard stuff, Bc from MEMORY i thought i heard somewhere that the Lizard was supposed to have a few horror segments in the movie like one scene in the sewer where Strange first encounters him
What are your thoughts on the idea of the Green Goblin using Dark Elf Gear for his costume as seen in Concept Art?
i mean the execution of what we got was still pretty meh compared to the synopsis that the film had
8:53 we do see Vulture in the movie … after credits scene you know
Iron goblin sounds sick as fuck and dangerous as hell.
They should've used the amazing fantasy #15 inspired suit that was in the concept art aswell
As much as I love the Amazing Fantasy No.15 Ditko suit I'd rather have Tom's ending swing suit be based on John Romita Sr comic book artwork from the early to mid 1970s
Jumping through portals to show scenes of the other spider man movies aka raimiverse and Andrew verse would have made more sense then the mirror dimension the dr strange and Tom holland Spider-Man fight in and the arrivals of the two other Spider-Man would have made more sense
I agree with comic doc ock and comic sandman idea they should have gone with that since Tomverse is a different universe to raimiverse and andrewverse
If it ain’t iron patriot, don’t put it on Norman.
Ned as Hobgoblin would be dope or even have Dr Strange or Wong recruit Ned. They need more bodies in Karmatagh
excuse me? why are the original Sam Raimi movies "cursed"?
Because of the jump scares and mainly because of Tobey Maguire turning into a disco-emo.
Kinda wish we saw the original bridge scene and Vulture or someone from Peter 1’s universe. MCU villain representation would’ve been cool but I suppose Mysterio’s biggest domino effect ever is happening throughout the move so it works out enough.
Kinda glad we ended up with what we did after listening to some of these
0:04 I just saw the Madame web trailer off an ad isn't it supposed to look like this or that one from the spider-verse unlimited comics
So the norman taking the pieces of tonys ironman 2 suit and fusing it with his goblin suit makes sense and id prefer it it would've given us such an awesome 3 spiderman vs goblin scene and even out the game
Almost sucked? It did
Mr Ditkovich apartment cameo?????
The MCU couldn't afford his rent budget.
It still sucked
Andrew saving MJ is the best scene I know in any movie.
I cried all 3 times I went to the movies.
And multiple more times watching "PETER ANDREW SAVE'S MJ SAD EDIT" here on YT.
I honestly like the idea of Goblin using bits or Iron Man armor. Not only do they look good in purple on his green body armor, but also would've been a rather symbolic "fuck you" to Peter, since he's using his fallen mentor's armor.
No,spiderman was never related to ironman in the comics
@@LaloSalamancaGaming69 I know that. I mean that in the context of the MCU, it makes sense. THINK. READ.
@@LaloSalamancaGaming69 Spider Man have connections to Iron Man, both Peter and Miles in Civil War 1 and 2
