An accidental run-in on a slime tutorial is actually what brought me into the world of Broadway. Christy Altomare’s last Journey to the Past in Anastasia still remains my favorite slime tutorial clip, even to this day! It never fails to bring me to tears💜
I gotta be honest- as someone who lives in Australia and will more than likely not go to NYC for years and years, especially now, I really appreciate the “slime tutorials”😂
Fellow Australian! And same! Especially as someone who lives in the NT where the limited tours we do get in Aus obviously never come here! Slime tutorials are the only way I get to be involved in the theatre community.
And without slime tutorials, I would never have gotten such convenient access to be able to see my favorite Broadway musicals whilst quarantined. I've literally watched pirated OBC "movies" of "Wicked" more times than I've actually seen "Wicked" in person. I only saw it once in person, but I've watched the show through slime tutorials numerous times cause it's so rare to get a full videotaped version of the show. Since Broadway doesn't openly provide us with footage of Idina, Kristin, Norbert, and Taye in "Wicked" like they did with "Hamilton."
Two of my fave musical vocal choices: Sam Pauly as Katherine Howard in Six, when she literally sobs and gasps for breath after she screlts the end of “All You Wanna Do”, it stands out from every other person before her. And in Hamilton when Emmy Raver-Lampman famously optioned up as Angelica Schuyler during the last chorus of “Satisfied”, HOW?!
I swear Sam Pauly as Katherine Howard is just *chef's kiss* She legit made me cry, made me feel for her being used by every man she's come across in her life ♥️♥️♥️
Sam Pauly was the first time I saw Six (sadly over the bootleg although I almost saw it in October) and I literally had never cried so hard. I had heard the soundtrack but never paid attention to lyrics until her performance and I sobbed after her sobs
i personally love bootleg version of shows since i'll never get the chance to see them in person (I live in Italy) and here there's no show performance as they do in America. For example i'll never be able to see hamilton or heathers, wicked or les mis. I get that for performer it's a pain in the as* but for us international fans it's amazing
I may live in California, but my parents dislike Pantages Theatre, so therefore cannot see. Although, I don't believe that Heathers is being performed in the US anymore.
I feel like producers would make more money if they release pro slime tutorials. I saw the first broadway preview for Anastasia, have 2 versions of slime, and I still decided to see the tour performance. People will always pay to see the live version if they can afford it, but basically everyone can afford the streaming services that could distribute pro shots
@@broadwaybrook2319 honestly if a hit musical went to where I live, I'd watch it even if I've seen the slime tutorial. I would want to have the live experience.

I'm living in a country where Broadway musical rarely tour here, and I'm too broke to go to USA to watch the shows live. But slime tutorial is the one that drag me into the theatre world and inspire me to become a set designer. Not saying slime tutorial is legal, but it definitely give a view to those who can't go. The way you described slime tutorials was really amazing! While yes it is completely illegal and actors don't like it, it also opens the very closed world of theater to a massive audience. As many others have said, I wouldn't be a broadway fan if not for slime tutorials! While I will never film one I appreciate the people who do, this allows me to see plays I would have never gotten to see before!
No access from the Philippines so I've been relying mostly on slime tutorials. Definitely willing to pay a premium to see a clear Heathers recording of Ryan's Heathers since those slime tutorials are hard to come by
I don’t know about Ryan, but there are some heathers tutorials in high def that have been up for two years! They’re by the channel cream-angel on yt :)
I watched the last show of RENT on Tour in Chicago and I knew it’d be a fun performance to watch when Roger and Mark accidentally broke the phone cord in the very first phone call and they still had to talk through it
As a theatre kid who lives in Oklahoma I have to say that without slime tutorials I would have never found my passion for musical theatre, while i defiantly do not encourage the making of slime tutorials, I believe that if I were to ever make it to broadway I don't think id ever report anyone If I saw it. maybe some girl in a small town like I am will see that slime tutorial, and maybe one day she'll be living her dreams on stage. And maybe it'll be because of that slime tutorial.
The first time I went to see Wicked on the West End was when Louise Dearman was playing Glinda but we saw her understudy and then a few years later we saw it again and got to see her as Elphaba!
I'm Brazilian and even tho I''ve been in NYC once and had the greatest privilege of watching Wicked and The Phantom of the Opera, the only way I've been able to consume Broadway musicals ever since is thought this videos. I also know a lot of people that are just as fans of Broadway as I am but never had the opportunity to go to US to watch a musical. So I'm actually very grateful for the slime tutorials hahaha.
I'm from the Philippines and it takes YEARS before we get to see a production of a hit broadway show. Either by a local company or an Australian company will visit us. Slime tutorials are the only way for us to keep up with new shows
I literally just got into some musicals fandoms about a month ago, and the only one I had a chance to see was SIX, but others I had to watch the slime tutorials. If I ever get a chance, I’d go to something professional but as of now, there’s not too much 😢. I literally missed Wicked too when it came to near where I live.
One time when I was doing School of Rock The Musical I could see my dads reflective phone case shining down from the circle and it kept on catching my eye and it was kinda distracting 😂
If they started professionaly recording shows for the people that can't ever see the show (they live too far away, it's too exspensive, the show shuts down, etc) then slime tutorials wouldn't be required. I've been able to enjoy Broadways shows that don't exist anymore this way, or see the original broadway cast, etc. But if I ever have the chance to see a show, I still would go and see it in person. I've watched both the OBC and Ciara Renee's runs of Frozen's slime tutorial and yet I'll still go see it in person on tour this summer because live theatre is a whole different experience to youtube videos.
3:27 One of the reasons why I adore Starkid extremely popular, and amazing actors/writers you can rather pay to see their newest musical or you can wait a yearish to watch it for free it's just such an incredible system and I love them for it
If I could actually give my money to buy tickets I would. I have the money and the love to do so. But I live very far from New York and sometimes there is no other way to get theatre content than sloppy slime tutorials. My favorites: Frozen (with Ryan of course) and Tuck Everlasting. Also Ryan talking about Patti LuPone had me crying I was laughing so hard
As much as slime tutorials are a no-no in the theatre world, my broke ass has no other way of enjoying "live" theatre performances besides what is posted online. As you said, theater is currently so inaccessible besides the rare pro-shots. Slime tutorials have introduced me to shows I would have never heard of otherwise and through that meant that I was able to show support in other ways via social media, official posts etc.
Thank you for acknowledging the inaccessibility of Broadway. I hate when people record during shows because, like you said, it's distracting and it's disrespectful. BUT. As a poor kid from Texas, I would have never been able to see any of the shows I'm in love with without "slime tutorials". I've heard people say "But if people watch bootlegs, they won't want to go see the actual show!" Excuse me, nothing makes me want to see a show in person more than seeing a grainy, shaky, bad quality version of it. I did finally get to go to New York in January 2020 and there is absolutely nothing that can compare to Broadway in person.
I feel like I've always wanted searched for how each Glinda handles "the wicked die alone" because it's such a heartbreaking line if you know the show at all.
Louise Dearman did that belt in "Noone moarns the wicked" all the time, I saw her play as Ga/linda August 2010 and she did the belt, also I distinctly remember the finale "...beacuse I knew you..." the transition from belt to mix belt rather than keeping it floaty, clear crisp notes betwee 'be-cause' gradual cresendo into vibrato into 'I knew you'. Also yes, her Elphaba was phenomenal, saw her in 2013. 💚💖
I am from Turkey and musical theatre became one of my passions after seeing a bootleg. I feel bad watching it for free but I also have no chance to see it live. When I have enough money first thing I am gonna do is to travel there and see a broadway show live. It's one of my biggest dream.
I came here to see Sam and Ryan react to a Be More Chill clip where when Rich comes out as bie the person infront of the bootlegger says, "Me too honey".
Hi! Just wanted to say that I saw Ryan in Wicked in March of 2019, and the cast was absolutely mind blowing. I thought it might have been him when he mentioned being Fiyero while Jessica Vosk was Elphaba, so I looked it up. You’re a brilliant performer, and the show was pretty near perfect that day.
I think what makes Louise even more extraordinary other than that RIDICULOUS voice of of hers (when I tell you I FELT THINGS) is that as I understand it, in Londons’ theatre scene it’s not expected that you do everything like it is here in the US. Over there, you’re a contemporary/belter type or legit soprano and if you happen to be that versatile, ok fine, but their industry tends to prefer you stick to one thing. So the fact that the first actress to play both of those roles (still the only one to this day, I think) is British where this is NOT the norm in the least, is pretty crazy in the best way! I would have expected this to happen in the US first, so Louise deserves all the awards for somehow being able to pull off two roles that are almost entirely diametrically opposed 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Slime tutorials have definitely made me love Broadway more. I grew up on the film productions of various Broadway shows like Phantom, Joseph and the amazing technicolor dream coat, Chicago, ect. But being able to see the actual stage productions makes me want to see them live in person eventually. Last year I managed to get my hands on some cheap wicked tickets. I have been a fan since glee and watched the slimes for it but my friend who I brought with me never seen or heard it before. So I was able to share that with her.
Oh my god, you were my first Hans! I saw that slime tutorial when I was living abroad and I loved it so much that I decided to see it there even though I wouldn’t understand all of it. I wish I could have seen you perform it in person but I was able to see a touring production in English this year!

As many others have said, I wouldn't be a broadway fan if not for slime tutorials! While I will never film one I appreciate the people who do, this allows me to see plays I would have never gotten to see before!
At 7:01 did anyone else think Ryan said "no incontinence, only bowels" and was like 🫥
I don’t know how I found this channel but I love that this was the first video I watched.
I’ve watched that Frozen slime tutorial 100 times and never noticed that in Love is an Open Door
@@coyotix are they still up?
@@ia490 yeah!
I watched the last show of RENT on Tour in Chicago and I knew it’d be a fun performance to watch when Roger and Mark accidentally broke the phone cord in the very first phone call and they still had to talk through it
that opening conversation was really deep and not what I was expecting, but I liked it. never change
11:38 Maybe someone should have told Louise Dearman that because she actually belted that line in at least THREE DIFFERENT PERFORMANCES.
I love the deep monologue in the beginning and how Sam was just supporting every single word😭
Slime tutorials are the only way for us to keep up with new shows
the fact that Ryan isn't in any of the heathers slime tutorials 😭😭😭
I literally just got into some musicals fandoms about a month ago, and the only one I had a chance to see was SIX, but others I had to watch the slime tutorials. If I ever get a chance, I’d go to something professional but as of now, there’s not too much 😢. I literally missed Wicked too when it came to near where I live.
One time when I was doing School of Rock The Musical I could see my dads reflective phone case shining down from the circle and it kept on catching my eye and it was kinda distracting 😂
I need more Ryan slime tutorials!
one minute in and we're already talking about deep stuff. this is why i'm subscribed
Literally nothing can kill a smile faster than an ad playing during y’all’s video 💔😭😂
We really need more videos of you guys reacting to your fav slime tutorials moments. It feels so good when people geek out at the same things as you
“Even if it’s the sweetest thing, it’s coming off angry” may be the best phrase I’ve heard to describe Patti LuPone.
I have to say my fav slides are Six and Hadestown
Although recording in a theater is bad, I am so thankful to have slime tutorials during the pandemic
Ryan’s little run was so effortless and gorgeous! 🫢😍
The faces Ryan made at 11:04 and 11:24 should all be memes!

One of the reasons why I adore Starkid extremely popular, and amazing actors/writers you can rather pay to see their newest musical or you can wait a yearish to watch it for free it's just such an incredible system and I love them for it
If I could actually give my money to buy tickets I would.
Is it upsetting to you that you can't look back on your performances unless they have been filmed illegally?
I’m new and as soon as I saw this video I was like “ OMG ITS DIGGIE!!!”
as soon as i saw the title i burst out laughing, it hit the right spot
As much as slime tutorials are a no-no in the theatre world, my broke ass has no other way of enjoying "live" theatre performances besides what is posted online. As you said, theater is currently so inaccessible besides the rare pro-shots. Slime tutorials have introduced me to shows I would have never heard of otherwise and through that meant that I was able to show support in other ways via social media, official posts etc.
That was quite the energy that whole intro I’m still processing
Whoever recorded Patti LuPone during this song has straight BALLS. 😆
Gotta love that there's no jealousy or sly looks from Sam at the last clip, she's just laughing
This is so good!! I would love to see you guys react to more of these!
I came here to see Sam and Ryan react to a Be More Chill clip where when Rich comes out as bie the person infront of the bootlegger says, "Me too honey".
Lucie Jones' option up in I dreamed a dream is one of my favourite choices ever
Me watching this video after watching a slime tutorial broadway…..
So I was able to share that with her.
that opening monologue was stunning
Oh my god, you were my first Hans! I saw that slime tutorial when I was living abroad and I loved it so much that I decided to see it there even though I wouldn’t understand all of it. I wish I could have seen you perform it in person but I was able to see a touring production in English this year!
