  • In this final video on the VOX ToneLab LE, we conclude with an overview of the last of the features and effects: modulations, delays and reverbs. You can do so much with the ToneLab and add so many effects at once that it's almost like making a sandwich -- or rather a SOUNDwich -- with whatever fixings your ear finds tasty.
Check out this video and get your fill of multieffects, containing your daily doses of nutritious effects you may be missing out on.

This is an amazing pedal and I have to say that this demo did it a severe injustice. I've been using the se(basically the same with a couple less effects but 2 fully programmable expression pedals) for almost 15 years and I know very well how to operate this beast. There is some learning curve and the line\amp selector is of utmost importance. If anyone has any questions about this pedal I'm happy to answer. It really works best through transparent amps( including keyboard and Bass amps) I use a solid state amps because you don't want to emulate an amp and then run that sound into a different amp except maybe for very particular experiments.

Right now on one of my presets the Control button is controlling the Reverb effect. How do I change it so that it controls the Delay effect? I need to know how to use Tap Tempo.
      Thanks!

Here we are 2 years later and Ian Barrett didn't deliver on his offer.
Krista specifically asked how to save effects. I'd like to know that too.
Stewart asked how to change the control button from reverb to delay. I'd like to know how to not have any effects attached to the control button.
I also would like to know how to have just a clean dry signal with none of the amps, cabs, pedals, modulations or reverbs. I want a clean slate so I can write my own set up to the channel. Which that seems to be the 2 biggest headaches of this pedal are how to change the built in factory presets to our own taste and how to save or even create new channels (above 30) to have to write our own patches.
Hope you can come though on helping us with these questions Ian. Because there really isn't a whole hell of a lot of information nor other videos explaining how to do this. At least in English. I see other language channels with videos about the Tonelab LE/SE etc but don't know what they are demonstrating in their vids. Thanks.

to use the talk box you select the two vowels and use the expression pedal to switch between the two so as you press the pedal down it will got from "a" to "e" or whatever you have selected.

Do you actually have one or is that just a guess. Because it doesnt seem to work like that... At least default..

It's a great unit, just use the effects and not the amp sims. I run this through a fender tube amp and love the delays and modulation options. It's got a tuner, volume/expression pedal and the compressor sounds pretty good. The reverse delay and pitch options make it a winner. Creating and saving your on patches is the ticket
Reverb is not very good, but this with an analog delay and dedicated reverb and fuzz box is a vicious combo. I've always just considered it a modulation box with a tuner, volume pedal and great sounding delay, definitely worth the used price for one of these.

foggydrifty Thanks for your comments. I'd be most intersted in the chorus/flanger and reverb/delays, too bad he just rushed over those so quickly and spent so much time on the tube amp/cabinet section.
What's your opinion on the modulation effects, since you seem to use them the most? Thanks !

Correct me if I'm wrong, but is 'Mod Delay' actually 'Modulated Delay', and not 'Modern Delay' as the 'expert' reviewer states in this video?

Great videos. I've had a Tonelab for years now and didn't know about some of the features. Are there any forums with listed presets for certain sounds or emulate certain artists?

No brotha', I didn't say that it could "replace" a good sounding tube amp. You are so on the mark there. Just sayin' I saw a dude at a club one night & he was coming REALLY CLOSE to the nailing the Signature Licks in a lot of Classic Rock songs - I've been playing a long time & on rare occasion, I'll hear really good Tone & when I do, I like to meet the guitar player & talk to him about his Rig - Turns out this dude was using the VOX Tonelab EL...I was blown away...which is rare for me. :-)

I currently have the tonelab ST model , my problem comes when I want to use two effect pedals at the same time, i can't do it with the ST. that is why I want to buy the TONELAB LE, I love the Tube Od effect, but at the same time I want to use the vox wah wah. so Is it possible to use, a wah wah with a tube od effect already presetted? please help me, so I won't buy this awesome LE in vane. I have seen the TONELAB EX as well, and I thing i can use the wah with the tube od effect because it has two wah effects, one on each group of effects. so, should I buy the TONELAB EX? Or The TONELAB LE is going to worth the money? please help me. thanks!

Bruno Camacho yes you can run "one" other, separate pedal. A wah would be fine, not a problem. I have the LE shown here which I use all the time these days. I do not run another pedal but it's a click on a button to activate your wah. I have really tweaked mine to fine tone the sounds I use and program them in close and appropriate proximity on my new, changed by me, channels. A little reading and an initial few hours and you'll be very happy what you can do with it.

You can try to add stombox od tube or ts9 at send and return or chain before in and you can use wah of this tone lab...this tube od only for booster of wah...make wah more powerfull...

Hi, I don't understand how connect the tonelab le to my Koch pedaltone (send return ? ) I just want the tonelabs effects and no amp and speaker simulation. Thanks for your help.

hey, send from tonelab into your external pedal(Koch) then outout from there into return, hold down the switch INSERT, you can also program so that the ctrl switch is an insert instead of having to hold down the button everytime. hope it helps, let me know how you go

ChrisFreddo Thank you for the information, I'm gonna try this next month.

Can you use this with-out an amp..there looks to be a speaker in it at the top middle.. i see a small speaker there.. can you do a review on just the vox and built in speaker ..

It does not have a built in speaker.. The Tonelab sounds good with an amp when setup right and also sounds decent when ran direct to a mixer

Hi everybody. I know tonelab is a little old but can anybody help me to connect my Tonelab LE to Tonelab sound editor? I bought an 2018 27' Imac, I have Mojave OS and a generic usb midi cable and when I connect mi pedalboard it gives me this error: "Midi communication error occurred. Check the cables and MIDI interface". I already tested the cable with @t and it sends data. I have the same error with my Windows 10 Laptop. Help me please!!!! Thanks.

"USB" is the SPDIF port. MIDI is just MIDI and has no "USB" functions.

You saying this can replace an actual good sounding tube amp?
If this was so actual famous professionals would be using it (which they are NOT)! Although it's my ears that actually make the ultimate decision for me!
