    I just learned you can bias the tube by holding the rename and arrow up as you're turning on the unit it will start to read the voltage which takes about 1 minute then it'll tell you whether the voltage needs to go up or down which then you adjust a trim pot that is recessed in the back once it reaches 8.8 make sure it sits there for about half hour

    Excellent demo excellent playing. The vox Tonelab LE sounded great as did your talent to squeeze these tones out of it. 👍🏻👍🏻😎

    I just bought a Line 6 Helix and with all the things that the Helix does great, it doesn't touch the ToneLab LE. After 10 years of use my LE died. It was having issues with the switches which I was able to repair but, I left the power plugged in to make sure the switches were working properly vs. reassembling testing the having to take it all apart again, which happened at least once during the repair. So, I fixed the faulty switch but when I went to put the back cover which is metal back on it hit the circuit board which caused a short electrical storm. ZAP! Okay, these things are getting more and more rare. I was noticing that I needed to add more and more pedals on to get sounds like the fuzz from Smashing Pumpkins, or a heavy distortion from Sevendust. I have Bias Amp on my iPad which I ran in the FX loop as an insert when I need those tones I wasn't able to achieve with the on board amps. The thing that the Helix does not do well is dynamics. For example, the solo to Bell Bottom Blues from Eric Clapton has a spot in the solo where he rolls the volume back and plays pick harmonics. The Helix cannot do that. The intro delay to Welcome To The Jungle, I could easily dial that setting in with the Vox. With the Helix, not so much.

    I am using one already for 10 years. I also have a line6 HD500x but that one is collecting dust. I prefer the Vox. I think it's the best processor for a nice crunch. The in between tones that you can nicely clean up by simply turning back the volume. For Hi gain search something else.. A loose pedal is a common problem. You need to open the device and tighten a screw with an allen key. If you search on google you'll find video's showing how. I use it as a preamp. WIth a tech 21 poweramp or in the effect return of whatever amp is available. Tube replacing is quite fiddly.. Unscrew bottom, one screw on the PCB board holding the tube. All screws on the backside including the plastic ones around the in/outputs, and then PCB board containing the tube is accessible. Carefully pull the tube, and re-insert a new one. I've done this once when I had a strange ticking sound in the marshall amps. it's an electro harmonix 12ax7

I was always using the V30 and the UK 75 and after using the Zoom g5 the Tonelab le sounded like it blanket over the speakers ! Think your on to something here with using the Vox cab so I'll have to pull out of the box and give it go!Good preset tones by the way! Cheers

    hi brou, you still have this machine?? i have one, i think its sounds great, but i feel it is lack of range in ecualizer. i compare it to a boss gt100, and eq is much more agresive on gt100, even it has a parametric eq. anyway i think tonelab sound great emulating preamps but more eq i really needed, so if i add an external eq pedal coud be the way to hear all the power of my stratocaster in cleans and distortions?? hope someone answer before i selling it and get a boss gt100 :/ that pedalboard can create awesome cleans and powerfull distortions, but i really like how vox sounds, like real tube amp. BUT EQ IS SO IMPORTANT TO MY STYLES I NEED THE BRIGTHNES CLEANS AND POWERFULL MID AND BASS, i feel tonelab le dont get me there.... but maybe the solution is just a simpl eq pedal what you say people you have more time discovering this unit, i sold it and buy a gt100?, or just buy an eq pedal an add it to the voxtonelab le?

      I have owned a ToneLab LE since 2007 and this is probably my biggest quam with this board. So what you need to do is unscrew the backing. There are also 2 or 3 black screws where the inputs/outputs are that you will also need to unscrew. Oh, most important is make sure you do not have the board plugged into the wall outlet. There are 2 spots that usually get loose over time. Let me see if I can find the video to walk you through it.

    Excellent video, thanks. Is this a more updated version of the SE? Have you played the SE and if so, in your opinion, how do the two differ?

    • @eugenscobioala
      @eugenscobioala  5 років тому +3

      Hi! LE has 24bit processor compared to 20bit of SE. The first is a new five-mode amp/line out voiced specially for various applications, from playing into different amp types to direct recording to live performance through a PA system. The “Line 2” amp/line setting features an all-new three band Master EQ section modeled after one of the most acclaimed live mixers ever manufactured. This allows you to EQ the sound of your Tonelab LE to suit any room or sound system. For greater flexibility in recording applications, we’ve added a S/P DIF output. The acoustic simulator now offers the choice between three popular acoustic guitar types plus a resonator. Finally, the new Tonelab wouldn’t be complete without some new effects! A new “metal distortion” sound will satisfy your need for extreme gain. I have to say JCM800 on LE is more realistic as on SE model. And of corse, it's lighter.

      @@eugenscobioala excellent. thanks for your informative response. bit of a beginner here. does the LE have an mobile/computer/laptop device input for playing along with recorded backing tracks? i'd like to use it directly to practice silently via headphones to various backing tracks.

    • @eugenscobioala
      @eugenscobioala  5 років тому +1

      @@checkeredflagfilms Unfortunately no. I would say: LE is as simple in use as it's possible and works excelent in Line or in front of an amp. It's awesome for rehearsals or the small gigs and it sounds amazing. But it's a device from 2005 and you should understand it wasn't planned as a workstation like a lot of modern processors does.

    • @overturfa

      I had this happen to mine over time. The design of the foot switches is such that there is a metal spring under the buttons that contacts micro switches soldered to the PCB. Over time the spring compress to where they don’t put enough pressure to activate the contact switches underneath.
      In my case the fix was very simple. I took the unit apart and gently tugged on the springs to stretch them back out a bit. It works perfect again. Very responsive to the foot switches.
      Be careful doing this though. If you pull too hard on the springs you could easily break one of them. They’re not very big and they look like they would be pretty difficult to replace.
      Best of luck!
