Very true with some stores. I scored a Jewelry store display cabinet worth a grand or so for free on Gumtree. They were not going out of business, but bringing in new display cabinets etc. They wanted me to take this other huge cabinet off their hands also for free but it was ridiculously big and heavy. The one I took was the one I really wanted anyway. I have a Hoth diorama thing going on in it. Cheers from Sydney....will be Subscribing now👍

I use tuna cans, baby formula cans and a few actual store bought stands for flying characters (I take off all the paper/labels wash them and they look great. It's a nice shiny stand from them to be displayed from different levels. It's not for everyone and that fair but it looks great to me , don't knock it till you try it ) I hope this helps someone out there .
I just transformed my home office closet in my display nerdery with LED strip lights...But now I am overflowing and need to either add shelves or a display case in the office, this was really informative for options, appreciate it. Need to grab some risers!
Carpenter here, please people use the correct fasteners for your shelves and wall cases. The last thing you want is your collection taking a spill because you didn't fasten the thing right.
4 years later…. New Star Wars 3.75 collector.. I lost my Mom in April this was the catalyst I just started about a month ago , have about 20 items Looking for a display , I will absolutely use your referall link
If I had my own place, I'd definitely have some cool dioramas made to display mine out of the package and posed. I got some ideas. Canonical and non-canonical. Quite a few fan fiction mash up ideas, to be honest. From thought provoking to silly. Okay, mostly silly. XD
I actually just go to menards (it's a big hardware store, for those who don't have them) and go to the scrap lumber section in the back and on a good day I can grab a few 4-5' x 3" planks of lumber for like $1.50 or less each, then pick up a couple of $1 L-brackets and I can get around 15 star wars black series or about 10 mcfarlane figures on each shelf. I have most of my empty wall space covered with these cheap DIY shelves for around $15-20, they don't look professional at all (though you could paint them or whatever if you wanted) but you get a lot of storage for your buck.
What's the best way to make an UA-cam video showing off my figure & Funko Pops collection? I have a shit ton of regular figures, Funko Pops & three collectable pocket knives. And I've never really made UA-cam video showing everything off. Are there any tips, suggestions & advice that y'all can give me?
One of the first things I did when moving into the first place I've ever lived in w/o roommates is buy a curio cabinet and fill it. I actually just bought LEDs today and I can't wait to see what it looks like. Unfortunately living in Tahoe means pine tree pollen EVERYWHERE. So I use a lot of museum putty so my figs dont fall when dusting. PS. ETSY has some amazing artists selling some killer dioramas. I just bought a foam shelf display that looks like the corner of a city building's roof. It has holes in the back for it to be hung on a wall.
if you can, i say use strip LED’s, top down, front and back of the shelf above. i have run LED strip up the side wall of my detolfs and, it’s good, but it’s not optimal.
Man i had soooo many badass action figures ,the very first 3 elite series, over 200 figures and i sold them for 50$ on offer up 🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️ to buy a playstation, worse decision of my life , some of those figures are worth $ not just wrestling figures but mxs toys and metal mulisha moto toys
I’m loose 😂😳 I can’t do packaged, I’d have to open it. Ig for some a could keep it mint 🤷🏽♂️ don’t understand the ones who have 2 of each, one open, one closed.
Are you going to keep showing off collectors collections for the foreseeable future or do i need to get my stuff set up sooner rather than later? I would like to talk to you about my collection display and the stuff I have going on right now (why its not displayed)
do you have any advice for opening a action figure package without destroying the packaging? i got a 5 dollar starwars droid figure and i want to take it out of the package just because it has a little rocket launcher attachment thing that i want to put on it and i don’t really care about preserving it just because i got it for 5 dollars because it looks cool not really because i want to collect it but i also don’t want to destroy the packaging because it looks pretty cool and i want to hold onto it maybe even to put the figure back in the packaging to put on my shelf. i don’t really care about the value it would drop because once again it is genuinely just a 5 dollar thing i saw at a vintage toy store but i do want to try to preserve the look of the packaging. thank you so much if you have any advice!
Shelf ideas aren't a problem, it's arranging my figures(aka: using my shelf space efficiently) that I'm struggling with. The only ideas I've been able to come up with(based on my current shelf space) is the following: 1. 2 large figures and maybe 3 small figures(if I'm lucky) 2. 4 medium and 8-12 small. Plus, I've had to look up and measure how tall certain figures are, before displaying them.
I had the same issue because of so many action figures and their boxes. One thing I did was took a shelf and found a long skinny square box that matches about half the width of the shelf and made it into a 2 tier. so now I have my action figures sitting on top of the skinny box at an angle, and then my other action figures actually sitting on the shelf at an angle and if you angle them just right, you can hide the box behind
@@ChristianSmith-rt1ul Interesting idea, thanks for the tip. My figure collection mostly consists of: Power Rangers, Transformers, Digimon, Demon Slayer, DBZ, Nendoroids, S.H. Monster Arts, and prize figures in general. So not one specific theme. Also, one of my shelves is custom made with adjustable levels. So, I can get the following dimensions: Large: H=2 1/2 ft, L=23 in, D=11 in. Medium: H=15 in, L=23 in, D=11 in. Small: H=8 in, L=23 in, D=11 in. So yeah, Height varies, while length and depth stay the same. My largest figure is my Omnimon G.E.M. statue standing at 2 feet tall. While my smallest figures are my Vocaloid Desktop Singers and Princess Connect Desktop Army(3 of each).
I just discovered the JoyToy Mecha Depot dioramas which I've been using to display my loose GI Joe figures on top of some bookshelves. Best part is that the Mecha Depot sets are customizable, which gives me the ability to have the diorama fit the space where they're going.
Thanks for the great ideas. I don't want to put so many little holes in the wall for my MOTU figures, would poster putty be a good idea without ruining the actual cardboard packaging?
Also- I use retroprotection cases for black series and 3.75. They are not clam style but great protectors and they save room. Everyone check them out if you haven’t already.
I can’t not open everything! I’m like a little kid, I untill recently used to toss the the cards away! Now I keep my vintage collection card. Hay I use 1.5’ washers! With some of that poster hanging putty . It makes them bottom heavy so they stay up and being on stands makes it so much easier to mix it up
I just use Billy bookcases from Ikea with glass doors and acrylic risers: lots of colour choices, easy to fit lighting, lots of shelves with adjustable height (wood or glass), good for dust protection / uv protection as not 360 degree view. They are ideal for 6" or smaller figures but not great for large items. Not a fan of detolfs, not enough shelves for me, dust / uv nightmare and can look a bit tacky and cheap sometimes.
Thanks for the ideas. One way i do it that you didn’t mention, is the plastic shelving with four levels from Lowe’s or Home Depot. It was about $30 each for each four level unit. That can be for loose or carded, but need to put levels to see all. That’s something you can even dyi.
That's the way I went, freestanding 4 & 5 shelf. Cheap and plenty strong. Put that w/a Extreme Sets (sector 7 landing bay), cut to fit deck panels and I got a three level diorama, the open doors leading to the next shelf. Ghostbusters next to Black Series next to Predators next to Terminators...
For my loose figures, I get the flavor water bottles from the store Cut off the bottom and top (where the cap is) then I take one of those clear glass stones and use tacky glue and glue the glass piece to the top. The glue dries clear, now I have a dome cover for my figures. Wish I could show you.
Hi love your videos, where can I get the display stands you have for your legends and black series, I've been using the neca ones but they don't seem to fit too well, thank you!
I built my wall shelf with pegs to adjust my shelves so I can display both loose and packaged figures and vehicles. I also have a staircase bookshelf I bought at Haverty's furniture and I can display my large figures and vehicles. Then, I bought a computer armoire case with display glass cabinets and I can display more figures in the cases and boxed vehicles on top.
You can also use the metal gridwork shelving and then have panels of thin plywood sheeting cut to specifications to lay on the surface of the shelving and eliminate all the 🔲⬛🔲⬛s holes
Huh, I own a few open Billy bookcases for my books and comic books, yet somehow I missed there are those with glass doors as well. That would be ideal to replace my Detolfs with, which great as they are, always kinda scare me every time I’m adding a figure to my collection. ‘Will the glass shelf still hold the weight or will it shatter?’

A couple of other options for hanging carded figures is Command brand hooks or picture hangers. You can get a variety of styles that work really well. I personally like the metal strips with a metal peg at the top. One other option is a company called Wall Control. They build metal pegboards with metal shelving of different sizes. There are also metal pegs. They look really nice but they work best if you have studs that are 16 inches apart.

So glad I came across this. My 12 year old daughter collects Marvel, Jurassic World, Ninja Turtles, Transformers and space related stuff. Our naughty cats recently knocked over a shelf with all her lego sets, Indominus Rex and a Indoraptor glass light. Light shattered, Indominus lost his tail and I spent 4 days putting lego sets BACK together after hunting down the PDF manuals. Thankfully she was gone for a couple weeks and doesnt know. Our landlords wouldnt let us bolt the shelves but we finally got permission after I sent her a photo of the wreckage that was my daughters beloved collection. Do you have any suggestions for hanging flying dinosaurs from the ceiling without ugly string. I used white embroidery thread and it drove her mad that she could see the string so clearly. You mentioned hanging your ship but I am not sure how I would go about it without making it look silly with all the string or worse, risking it coming crashing to the ground.
I use my sister's old huge doll house as an X mansion with all my figures on its in my vids
That is really smart, I might have to give that a try when my daughter gets tired of her doll houses
