This video helped me a lot in removing those side clips. I found it easier to pull the unit out through the side and then feed it back in at the top and then reconnect the cable. Thanks!
I literally just fixed it in 5 grueling minutes lol Can't believe all It took was for me to be doing laundry at 2am .... Waiting in my car wanting to lists to music realizing the stupid aux port is f***** still.... So I watched this video and said to myself, "well, there's 15 minutes left on the dryer so you have 15 minute to fix this crap" Lmao
Thanks for the video!!! I just fix it in my 2006 bmw 325xi. A little tip: leave the cord in the aux port once you fix it or you may be doing the process all over again.
Just got a '09 328i and I pushed that aux port right through during its first detail. Thanks for posting this, I would've def broken those bottom clips had you not posted this video. Thanks man!
Thank you so much for posting this! Items of note....the side clips that need to be unclipped are on the inside edge of the non-movable console, so you have to feel for where the screwdriver needs to be to pluck those puppies off....also, it's a PITA to try to stick fingers in around the duct work....get someone with thin hands (long fingers) to push the aux box out of the console so it can be reseated, a longer flat head screwdriver doesn't really do the trick since it's not as flexible as fingers. Although the screwdriver will help keep it in position so you don't lose track of where it is. You have to push the aux box around the "seat" to get it up and out of there. It takes a bit of maneuvering. Thanks again for posting! I was able to fix this one myself. YAY!
It took a lil twist and poking around the clip retainer on the sides to disenage it so for anyone that are planning to do this, just be patient and you'll get there. Also if cannot get the air vent out of the way, you can lift up the sides to access the AUS port (which is what I did). I put some superglue on the edges and below the step so that should help to make it stay.
I have this issue in the 08 328i coupe, the center continues to the back seats so there’s no panel to remove. I think I’m just going to have to cut the hole wider with a saw. My aux fell to the very bottom where it is unreachable.
So glad you put the video up, my mom loves listening to Pandora and when the aux port fell she was pretty upset( this was a couple months ago) so me and my dad just fixed it today (mothers day). Thanks for the help.
Thank you so much! Had the same issue - fixed in 10 minutes thanks to your video. The rear vent panel lower clips were a real pita to get unclipped tho. The plastic side panel had enough flex so i clould actually use my fingers to unhook the lower clips. The only thing remains is that the aux panel (mine's one with a USB and AUX) can fall back through pretty easly. I guess there's some plastic clip that's broken in there. Thanks again!
Charles Poindexter wow thats steep! Glad it saved you some $$! Just curious, what model do you have? I wonder if this applies to more models than the 07 328i.
When I opened the console in mine the air duct left absolutely no room for me to get my hand to reach the aux port, and it didn't budge at all either. How did you get the air duct to go out so far? mine seems really in there
Mine fell through too, but I also realized I think one of my speakers went out, is there a way it's a wire in the console? Or is there more work to be done than just this
Not sure if you fixed this or not but the reason it won't clip in flush and stay is because of a small, broken tab that sticks out from the driver's side of the console. The same thing happened to mine 325i and I noticed the little tab was broken and pushed down. Will attempt to fix it with jb weld some day. Thanks for the video on the disassembly though! Couldn't have done it without it!
I have a 335i with the full console to the back seat. I wasnt able to pull through the back but through the parking brake. Is there a way to disconnect the aux box from the cable so I can put it over the top? I'm struggling. Please help.
So I'm just having trouble with the first step just because I'm afraid I'm going to break the clips ... Do I need to approach this gently or can I be a little rough with it
That aux is a pain, man. There is only one clip that holds the unit in place, so any decent amount of pressure, and mine pushes through as well -- so you're not alone, lol. Thanks for the vid!
Yeah I was really surprised how easily it pushed through. I ended up doing it a couple times in a row testing how much force it took. Poor design, but thankfully a moderately easy fix. Glad the video helped!
Thanks alot clintathusaz for this great tip. I was able to fix the Aux port in about 10 minutes. You saved me an ass chewin from my girlfriend because the BMW is her car and I was the one who pushed the port down into the console.
Good idea... I am going to try the super glue..this was my car and I'm handing it down to my teenager.. I KNOW it will happen again without some preventative measures!
Hi! Sticking the little flat head screwdriver up underneath the side panel between the panel and the clip on the back vent piece was how i was able to get them off. Once I figured that out they came apart and went back together pretty easily. Hopefully that's helpful.
Easiest way to get the aux port out is to takeoff the emergency brake boot and you can fish it with a grabber tool out disconnect it and put it back in from the top. Much easier takes about three minutes and you don’t have to take all the console apart
You would never got it lined up because there used to be two tabs holding it down, and when the port fell down actually because one of the tab is broken. When you try to put it back there's only one tab, so I guess it'll never be like it was before
They way I fixed it was, get a long 3.5mm aux cord. Plug it in, forget about the sunken port. The aux cord is long enough and when I close the little console, it slips right through. No need to unplug and plug back in.
OMG DUDE! i love you! i just bought a 2006 BMW 323i Motorsport. 2 days and i tried to insert an AUX cable and i think i pushed it a bit hard and the damn thing went all the way in! i thought i was the only one. Looks like its an issue with all BMWs? I will try this tomorrow after work and let you know how i go. YOU ARE LEGEND!
Ha! Was wondering why my aux was missing and the panel in the back has broken clips , guess the previous owner tried to fix it . Ill look tomorrow and ill just super glue the aux lol . Ty
Funny how many brownie points in my 15 years of marriage were working on mother-in-law vehicles. Suggest using plastic weld lightly on edges before pushing back in. Clean surface with alcohol wipes. Let sit. You'll never have this issue again.
this must be a pretty common problem. I guess it was a flaw in the engineering design of the clip system. Well nobody buys BMW to get a full luxury experience; or if they do, they bought the wrong car. The powerhouse under the hold is spectacular though.

6 years later, and your video is still helping. This old lady fixed it in a 2006 we just bought for our son. Only took me 2 hours. 😂 Thank you.
Glad it was helpful even 6 years later!
I question why less then a 5 minute fix took you 2 hours.
@@realrome Ikr too 2 hours that’s crazy
i have a 06 325i. Im so glad I found this video because Ive only been listening to the radio for the past 2.5 yrs -_-

The coupe's rear AC and vent, etc doesnt pull off like this video, so I did the side method as well! Worked for me.
Video is helpful so many years later, thank you!
This just happened to me today and I was immediately stressed out. I'm glad someone put a video up about the fix! Thanks a lot man
+stan heath You're welcome! Glad its helpful!

Thanks a bunch mate. Have my aux unit back. Putting the ac console back on though is a pain - the top locks in easy, the bottom is refusing to.
+StreamingEagle Were you able to get it? Glad it was helpful

Thank you for the post. I have had the Aux port pushed down for a couple of months and saw no reason to take the car in just for that.
Dan O'Rourke Well I am glad you found it helpful! Thanks for the comment!
to get the air hose out simply keep it low and level and pull and pull with all your might!!!!! same to put it back in push and push!!!
worked on my 09 328i. Had to go in thru the side, got some wrist pain tho 😭
After I got the port in place, I put superglue gel on the seam between the console and the port. It holds it in place.
S M my nxt mini proj..
how to do this on the version with 2 doors
lol thanks dude, I dripped hot sauce under the center console and was looking for a way to get under there and clean it
I need to remove console top. When you were in there did you notice if just two screws hold the the whole mechanism?
Hi +Shelby Varholick, I wish I remembered. By console top, are you referring to the padded lid?
If the under clip is broken it will go down again i left it hanging inside the cable is never removed
Thanks!its really helped me a lot, My 2011 bmw 328i got the same problem,i fixed it and glued it

2011bmw328i same issue.
Do someone know where to buy new aux ports?

Hey clintathusaz thanks a lot bro! Im having the same issue and i didn't know how to get the console apart, this was a major help thank you.
Awesome! I'm glad it helped!
Which direction to you need to pop the bottom clips out when removing the rear console?
it's so tricky I took me time to remove that part
Anyone know how to do this for 2 door ?
anyone have a problem with aux not working, its grey on the idrive
Very very helpful video man! Try maybe Velcro strips to keep it from pushing down and popping out?
They way I fixed it was, get a long 3.5mm aux cord. Plug it in, forget about the sunken port. The aux cord is long enough and when I close the little console, it slips right through. No need to unplug and plug back in.
Thanks for the video having the same problem with my 2007 328I
I can't get my ac duct back into place
Well, I made many scratches on that console and never could remove it
The real MVP
I've been a BMW tech for 15 years and I must say these clip are near impossible to remove
I can't get bottom clips off

having a hard time popping the sides out

Just a little E6000 glue on the edge, let it cure for a day and you'll need a hammer to get it out.
Great suggestion! Thanks for the comment
Thank you very much you helped me out soooooooooo f'n much
Thanks for this!
