    Given a choice, getting a upgrade hybrid ceramic bearing on the sideplate side or on the spool side, will we see a real difference in casting distance or freespool performance if we only can choose one? Thanks Dennis.

      I don't think that it will make that much difference. Ceramic bearings won't rust, or wear like the SS counterparts but new vs. new SS bearings, I just don't see that difference. Not sure why you would only replace one bearing, You need both sides of the spool to run smooth. Some reels use a bushing on the non-gear side, so I guess I would pick the gear side if I had to make a choice -Dennis

    Forgot to oil the cap spool shaft bearing. The friction plate attached to the cap is usually grimy

    Very interesting, Okuma isn't really found here in S.W.Fl.. I've been having a blast using 300 size low profile Tatula's on Snook. Very tough reels but I'm not to keen on the ball bearing pinned to the shaft though.

    Looks like the main gear might have missed some grease.

      I'll go back and check. Quite possible, or I may have edited it out. Thanks

    Hello, my Okuma Komodo 471P will not release from free spool when you turn the crank. I’ve taken the reel apart a half dozen times and can’t find the problem. Somehow the release cam won’t engage the anti reverse cam. I’ve taken the reel apart completely and still can’t find the reason the cams won’t align correctly. Any idea where to look would be appreciated.

      If they are not aligning, then you could have a broken or bent part. It is hard to say. I would recommend getting the schematic and rechecking your work to make sure all of the pieces and parts are in the right place - Thanks for asking

    hello sir, I have a rust problem on my baitcaster with carbon body, since the reel was exposed to water and I didn't have time to clean it, rust appeared on almost all the bearings and bearing seats, I have ordered new bearings, but after I tried cleaning many times with WD-40 on the reel body and bearing seat, even though it looked clean of rust, after I re-lubricated it and use it, the next day rust appeared again on the bearing seat and it was very difficult to remove, do you know the solution to this problem? Thank you very much 🙌🙌, sorry for my bad english

    • @2ndChanceTackle
      @2ndChanceTackle  9 місяців тому

      You will need to change out the bearings in order to stop that rust.

      @@2ndChanceTackle yess i'll do it, but i'm afraid of the new bearings getting rust from the bearing seats

    No grease on main gear, and too much line on the spool...
