Yes, it lasted 110 episodes. Incredibly, Rhoda premiered at number 1. The first season premiere was in last place out of over a hundred shows. Ratings were low because Saturday night, where Rhoda was moved to, became a ratings dead zone and tastes were becoming less sophisticated (Happy Days and Chips were hits then.) So Rhoda was cancelled before the final four episodes of the series even aired. CBS could have put it on after MASH and it would have lasted 9 years.
Valerie...Goodness she was so beautiful! If I was around her age in the 70s (however I wasn't born until 1982 lol), I would've made her my wife! ;) #girlcrush ;)
RIP Valerie Harper (1939-2019)
This theme seemed cool, like Cagney and Lacey.
This series should be for "20th Television" for Disney+ if they need to upgrade it!
opening teme for seasons 2 and 3 were the best
This version by Les Hooper from 1978 is probably the coolest of the many versions of the Rhoda theme.
Wow, Valerie Harper looked incredibly beautiful in those oval shaped pictures at the beginning of this opening.
@kentgraovac I agree it's my favorite version of theme as well.
I like the beginning of this version the best. Kind of Devo-ish. Very 80s! :o)
THIS IS VERSION IS A LOT COOLER!!!
Valerie is one of those women who are so adept at comedy that you forget she's gorgeous. I don't mean cute or pretty, I mean beautiful, gorgeous.
I agree with Daniel. Valerie was gorgeous...How in the world did the show's character Joe want to split up with Rhoda?
he couldn't handle marriage,. Period!
parkman35 I wish they had kept them together. 👎
Rhoda was a bit heavy handed, especially with men.
This is the best version. Kinda weird music for a comedy - sounds like it should be detective show - but still great.

I meant to say the 5th season premiere was in last place.

glad i do NOT live in NYC..... GREAT SHOW but no way on llving there
@ChristianNYC I know right.. I thought it was on from 1974 until 1978...
Sounds almost like a polka.. :)
@HepburnFlicks mary was a drunk in real life went to rehab toward the end, Had betty ford on the show for a cameo
This was a more disco version.
How old are you dude???
Season 5 (1978)
Rhoda didn't have a car?????
A lot of people in NY don't have cars. The streets are too busy and it is expensive to park.
Wait did Rhoda last for 5 seasons?
Yes.
no. This was season 4. 1974 is when it started and 1978 is when it ended
yeah it did but season five only had 13 episodes and only 9 of those aired in the initial run of the show.
CBS gave Rhoda the pinkslip as a Christmas present in 1978 (ABC's "The Love Boat" knocked her off the air)
I think Tom Scott was on Sax for this variation.
Sounds like him yes
This was season four. There IS no season five
Yes, there was a season 5, but it was really short!
Thanks I actually figured that out almost as soon as I posted that. I found the season 5 episodes on youtube and made the connection.
Valerie looks much better in this version the first version she looked anorexic!
