Wilbur Hatch had been conducting (and usually wrote the music for) Lucy's radio and TV shows since "MY FAVORITE HUSBAND" in 1948; he continued to be her "musical guru" until his death in 1969.
I agree. This one was the best. I played it several times after hearing the others. This was very pretty. If only we had the version with the Desilu Logo and music at the end. Oh Well.
Yes, this theme brings back those carefree days of watching great television and this was the best musical arrangement out of all the Lucy shows. Funny that we're watching this and talking about it 40-years later. Lucy would be proud. Thanks for the post!
I think this is the best version they came out with for the ending credits of this particular show....& I don't think it can be improved in any possible way! As a young child, I remember this show being seen on CBS, on Monday nights.
The separate Desilu logo wasn't in use at the time these shows were produced (1964-65). That logo came into use in 1966 (you can catch it at the end of "Star Trek" reruns that are currently in syndication). And by the time "The Lucy Show" was syndicated, it was owned by Paramount, so there was no reason to attach the updated Desilu logo to the older shows.
I think TVLand took the most rapid dive into the crapper I've ever seen. One year, that's all it took for them to go from one of my favorite stations to the one I flick the bird at. The last straw was losing Star Trek to of all things, infomericals. Yes it's a great thing we got UA-cam.
TV Land has been showing the show and other Paramount shows non-stop since it started-you can't say that they never reran it as much as they did! Besides, it's now on DVD anyway, where you can watch it to your heart's content.
I just rewatched this --this was the closing for the episode where Lucy tries to get a replacement for a broken china statue of Mr Mooney's --check it out, someone posted it in three parts -- try Lucy and Mechanical Man -it was so funny!
On a positive note, I'll say that this has got to be the "very best" closing version of the show.....however, on the negative side, if this show ever goes to TV Land, you'll NEVER hear the theme......they keep blocking out all their ending themes with those damn, lousy ads.
I agree - the first season version is a little too "marching band", and I didn't like the versions for seasons 4-6. This one was used for seasons 2 and 3.
@Inglewolf: But you can't see complete shows on UA-cam to begin with (unless its from a special UA-cam channel run by the company that owns/produced the show, like MGM's UA-cam) and those channels, like Hulu, can't be seen outside of the United States. So the only alternative is to have recorded them all by yourself, or to wait until they come to DVD (where The Lucy Show now is) or hope that CBS Studios also launches it's own UA-cam channel.
What if all 30 of the tiny Lucy heads in the ending credits coughed one at a time and at the very end of the music they all coughed at once in an echo. I say that because all of Lucy's TV characters voices sound like a person who smoked way too many cigarettes.
get the MP3 creation program known as Conversion Wizard, and you're set (you have to get the Flock browser to use it, though, as that's the only browser it seems to work on.)
The separate Desilu logo (the circles coming together into the dot over the i) hadn't been created yet when this was made. The animated self-writing Desilu was incorporated into the main credits, as it was also on "The Untouchables" and other shows they made around this time.
Jeff Missinne You mean the "Merging Circles" Desilu logo? That logo wasn't introduced until season 5 of the "Lucy Show". The first season of the original "Star Trek" has the Desilu "Merging Circles" logo until the latter half of season 2.
This is one of the best closing themes to this fantastic series!!!!!
Superb ending theme from one of the greatest television shows of all time Period!!!!!
I have always liked this LUCY SHOW (Season 3) closing credits and instrumental piece.
I think this season had the best orchestration of the closing theme.
I agree ... the way the strings are scored is outstanding!
@@toddcampbell5603 Terrific and stimulating with the cymbals crashing, very good version!!!!!!!!
the beat is PERFECT!!
Really good version of this fantastic theme !!!!!
I've never seen this show. But watching this end title theme, the theme grew on me.

Yup, I totally agree!

I remember the closing credits from when I was little.
It,s very enjoyable and satisfying !!!

@EmpressDR I wish Desliu was around imagine if one of Lucille ball children said if they would run the studio
RE: the Lucy Show season 3 that Vivian Vance did not appear, was the closing credits different???

DESILU logo needed in there!
