Thank you for your video. I struggled to get the chopper cover off. I had watched several videos and had no luck. One video, showed them struggling and they said, "Oh well, we will skip that part." I was not about to skip it, so kept searching for videos. Yours clearly showed the method to getting that cover off. Thank you, thank you! the cutter shaft was broken. The cutter was laying in the bottom in multiple pieces. The strainer was unbelievably clogged and firmly stuck in its housing. New pieces are on order.
I watched that video too! And then found this one. Remarkably easy to get off, once you do it right. I was sure I'd never get it. Then we did. And we pulled a big hunk of hard something-or-other out, and it's running like a champ now!
Oh, my word. Thank you for this. My chopper was completely gunked up with mineral deposits and wasn't turning and causing a huge noise that we thought was the pump. But, because of this instruction we were able to take it out and clean it and voila! Dishwasher works again!
Thank you so much, I am 67 years old and I am a retired air conditioning contractor. However, I do not have the patience I used to have. Your video show me all the little tricks that made it so much easier thank you very much. The only thing that was hard was the chopper assembly. I couldn't see how close that screen had to be to the motor...So I did some screenshots and magnify them. Once again thank you very much. Bruce
That is so sweet. Thank you. I was trying to get all that stuff off and, as Arnold would say, 'get to the chopper', but I couldnt do it. This vid rocks!!!
Wow. Thanks for your video. The chopper cover has been giving me fits. As another poster said no one showes the tab release. Very helpful. Thanks again
Thanks so much for this video- I have been doing some trouble shooting with our dishwasher and used this video to help me remember how to take the assembly inside apart and check the food chopper and filter - but both were clear for a good cleaning the year before. I checked all the drain hoses and no luck - still can’t find why my dishwasher washes but does not drain- looking at the drain pump now - but doing the disconnect for the direct line is going to be a pain...
I've done all the rest in the past. I was watching this specifically for how to replace the chopper. It seemed to me your hands covered that procedure, and you said something about a spring I didn't understand.
I have a Kenmore 14542 Dishwasher but cannot find any videos on how to repair. Does it even have a chopper. My previous dishwasher looked similar to this assembly, but cannot figure out how to remove bottom of the new one.
I got as far as removing the grinding wheel, but if I look down into the larger hole on top, I can see a screen in there that looks clogged up. Is there a way I can get to that?
You're not helpful with this video. To remove the chopper mechanism properly, you need to pull the blade out from the shaft to disengage the insert that goes into the chopper blade unit. You'll notice a spring behind the chopper that needs to be compressed. If you do it the way you've shown, there's a good chance you will break the insert that goes into the chopper mechanism that centers the chopper. You will then spend $70.00 to replace the broken plastic piece by buying the, "kit".
I broke the tab on the cover trying to force it in. (I know. Don't force it. I had been fighting it and got frustrated.) I've got a new one ordered and on the way.
My repair man had difficulty trying to replace the "chopper" until I showed him this video. Thank you!

Thanks. I don’t think this is my problem but watching you disassemble and assemble is helpful

This is my model. Thank you!! Mine was filthy underneath despite using dishwasher descaler monthly. Yuck.

Thank you so much for this video. Excellent!
Thank you for this video!
Glad it helped! Thanks for watching!
I need to see exactly where either your hand is blocking the view or where you have the cover left sitting
Id like to live in the same universe where it goes in that easy…

I got it all apart ok, but I can't get it to go back together. How do you get that screen to line up with the groove?

My bottom rack is hanging on the lower spray arm hub when pushed in. have taken it apart numerous times with unsuccessful results. can you help?
Hi Cathy, please provide your dishwasher model number and I will be happy to research this for you.
Your hand is in the way at the one point we need to see
Your hand is in the way of the camera. Thanks for nothing and you had to see that but you posted it anyways?
