2020 Rockwood Mini Lite Travel Trailer 2104S (Unbiased RV Review)

- This video is a COMPLETELY UNBIASED RV REVIEW of @ForestRiverInc Rockwood Mini Lite 2104S travel trailer. This travel trailer has been requested by a number of our viewers, we were thrilled to get the research done and find it to film and we were impressed. We found a lot of things to like. We do like the torsion axels, the size and the amount of living space that is fit into such a small space. We especially liked this floor plan with the Murphy Bed because there is enough room when the bed is in the up position to leave the bedding on. This is a very important factor to us so that we don't have to start making a bed when it is time to pull it down. We also liked the counter tops, large dinette and the large fridge and oven. We didn't really like the position of the microwave or that the two main closets would be hard for us to reach.
The Rockwood Mini Lite 2104S could for sure be used by an RV Sometimer, full-timer or snowbird if they were prepared for long term travel in a small space but it is completely functional. We think it is best suited for the weekender or vacationer.
A solo traveller or couple would be completely happy using the Rockwood Mini Lite 2104S. A family could for sure make it work because there is enough sleeping space but it could get a little crowded and beds would have to be made up each day. This is all completely doable for the short term traveller and fun would be had by all.

We purchased this little trailer earlier in 2020. After having a larger 5th wheel, this was easy to haul. We love it.

I have never cared for Murphy beds, but I think I could live with this one. Especially since the bedding can stay, and the other functions of the trailer work while the bed is down.
For us personally a Murphy bed would not work unless the bedding stays on, Then we love them. They become so versatile and no more work to make up. So we hear your point. Thanks for watching and sharing your thoughts.

Your videos are definitely convincing me even more that Rockwood Mini Lites would be a great choice. Unfortunately, now we’re going to need a tow vehicle as well, so it might take us a little longer to be able to get both. Our full-size van was going to be our tow vehicle, but it has transmission problems now. And since it’s an older van, we don’t want to sink money into it. So, in the meantime, we’ll keep saving up (and playing the lottery!)😁

Nice review. Well done. I like the Murphy bed. Overall, looks like a lot of storage, the flex of a couch/bed, and a dinette that folds in a bed for our 9 year old son.

The dinette table is a finger amputation device and boat anchor notice she was putting off showing how to use it….I made my own light weight replacement, also the seating area has 1/4 inch plywood under panel which bow when sitting on them, replaced with 1/2 inch plywood panels.

Nice price! I was expecting in the fortys.I know trailers devalue 37% the first 3 years.So it depends on your wants and needs.I have been living full time × 4 yrs in my 2015, Coleman trailor.17 ft length.One sink toilet and tiny shower and frig.No oven, 2 burner stove.So, after living in my tiny Coleman and watching this video, the Rockwood mini light is a big, big upgrade! Worth the money.I have slept on the bottom bunk and used the top bunk for clothes storage in plastic bins.In below freezing weather and snow.The Coleman held up! But this Rockwood mini lite would be well worth the money, for sure!Thumbs up!! I payed $ 15000.00 for my Coleman trailor Brand new.

Thanks for the nice review. I'm not a tall man and items such as the microwave is at an insane height, in my opinion. Even the freezer is pretty high. I'm wanting to upgrade and my current RV has the seam on the countertop edge that I also hate. They always eventually start to lift.
We hear you on these points. It seems most manufacturers are trying to move away from counter seams so we are confident you will find something with regards to that but those darn high up freezers and microwaves are a challenge. The thing is that RVs generally have pretty small kitchens so we like to see the reachable spaces be for the things we use most often. For us that is storage cabinets and we just use a stool for the fridge and microwave. Not ideal but nothing is and we just find a way to make it work for us. Hope that helps. Thanks for watching.

I am also a 5 ft. tall blonde, so this could be me in your videos! My two favorites so far are this one and the Forest River Wildwood 171 RBXL. We want to stay light yet maximize as much space as possible, which is why we like the Murphy bed. I love the extra counter space and storage in the Wildwood 171 RBXL bathroom, and the kitchen counter space in both.
I'd love to see this exact design with a twin to king bed option instead of the Murphy bed. Next, move the recliner to the dinette and perfect (for my wife & I anyway).

Rockwood makes a mini-lite twin bed that has an insert that turns the twin beds into a massive king...it is brand new for this year. pretty much exactly like this one but with the twin beds...it's a 2204s

Super review; especially, considering you're "NORMAL" consumers. One thought: IMO access to the fridge (in travel mode) may not be that big of a deal; we'd use a small ice chest (for snack/lunch, etc) -- STILL have access to the IMPORTANT component (THE BATHROOM!!!). Love how y'all approach the review from "normals" and NOT ""sales-folks." Tubs/totes to hold those accessories for pass-through and under dinette storage makes a LOT of sense to me. Overall, a GREAT plan for a smaller unit. Thanks for sharing!

My bottom Murphy bed supports broke loose from the floor, they were poorly attached and shifting during driver broke the cheap particulate board supports. This is on my 2019 unit. I also have a dometic fridge that has never worked correctly and by the time the warranty expired so did the fridge. One side panel on the outside of the unit has delaminated and separated in places, again no help from rockwood. The rear ladder which is made for children came loose with several screws falling out and in disgust I removed the ladder. Rockwood has great hype, but very very poor customer support
This is basically the replacement for the 2304KS but with a bigger slide and a bigger dinette. I bought a 2019 last month. I do like this one a little better, especially the drawers and the shaker style cabinets but mine was a new 2019 with a $32K MSRP that was discounted to $16,999. Could not pass that up.

You may have missed the point of this review. We loved the Rockwood a lot! I just bought a 4 year old one, minus the murphy bed, normal bed.
$10,000 and full gas tanks, a wdh, and all the connections for water and power.
Oh and new tires as well.

@@cliftt Just remember that a price given without lots of context really doesn't mean much, especially on a used rig. 2 used RVs that are from the same manufacturer, same year, same model may have very different prices for so many other reasons. The price alone just doesn't mean much in our opinion.

This COULD be a great travel trailer.
Pluses: Impressive cargo carrying capacity. Nice interior layout. Very deep slide out. Love the big wraparound dinette!
Negatives: Could they have installed more dull, dark and dreary cabinetry? Cheesh. How much more would it have cost to use lighter, brighter, glossy/shiny cabinetry? I agree with the concerns expressed by someone else regarding putting the electrical controls UNDER THE SINK Not wise! Also, VERY dismaying that Rockwood went with bargain-basement Chinese Castle Rock tires. Based on online posts I’ve read about that make of tire I would NOT risk using them on a trailer or any other vehicle.
Glad you liked it. We think this is a nice trailer too. As we said, the electrical near the sink is done in many rvs but is something we will look at more closely. Tires are an easy fix. If you are willing to pay more you can have them put on before you pick it up. Quality in an RV is always something a buyer will pay more for. Thanks for watching.
The castle rocks on my 25bds have been to n ga. From n. Fl. Twice, then to n.c. coast from n.ga. one time and then to n.c. and back again. Not to mention the many local trips we've made, still going strong. If you follow the air pressures on the side of the tire and don't overload, then run at 65mph and under as you should. They last pretty well in my opinion.
I am looking at maxxis 808 in the near future, jumping up to a D1 load range.
I'm not familiar with the Rockwood brand, I live in Las vegas and don't see many. Do you know the price range they run?

For towing, this weight does cross the threshold of requiring a 1/2 ton pickup of full size SUV...
We are not the truck specialists and refrain from making any other recommendation than make sure your tow vehicle can more than handle the weight. We do not agree with being at or too close to your trucks limit. It can be dangerous and is really hard on the truck. Thanks for watching.

a nice trailer but...those contertops along either side of the queen bed make access to the bed inconvenient, especially if your an older person having to climb out the end of the bed,

Is there a stripe on the bed to keep duvet and sheets not falling down when folding the Murphy bed up?

When you put in the slide, you CAN NOT use the bathroom or kitchen or refrigerator. The slide comes right up against the sink. You're guessing. I have the 2020 Flagstaff Micro Lite 21DS which is exactly the same as this one. So I know for sure.
Thanks for the information. We always welcome details from an owner's perspective. It is a bummer though. As we mentioned in the video we were not sure how close the slide would come in. In order to manage the challenge we would suggest viewers remove the table so that you could step over the seat to access the kitchen, bathroom and to make up the dinette into a bed still making the trailer workable for those quick stops. How will my 2004 f150 5.4 triton handle this trailer?
Hey there we do not specialize in tow vehicles and their capacities so we can't answer that for you. Your vehicle will have a sticker on it, probably around the door somewhere that will tell you what it's tow rating is and then you can compare that to the GVW we have told you about here. Another resource you can try is a channel called BTBRV (big truck big rv) he really is an expert in tow capacity and can explain how to determine if your truck is going to work for this trailer. Hello everyone, I have never purchased any type of trailer , I am very curious on average , how many years do they offer to pay to finance ?
Welcome to the wonderful world of RVing. Loans can go for 5, 10 even 15 years and in some cases even more. BUT... even though financing on RVs can go over many years we strongly caution against doing this if at all possible. The thing is an RV is not an asset like a sticks and bricks home or a piece of property and is unlikely to go up in value. Therefore they often have higher interest rates and they will for sure depreciate, more like a car then a home. So that being said if you finance your RV over too long a period of time with use and depreciation you could end up making payments on a loan that is higher then the value of the RV itself. Keep your financing to as short a term as possible. Hopefully that helps you out some. Thanks for watching

@@honeysweetness9813 This is generally true for all RVs. The lower the value of the RV the lessor amount of time will be available for a financing term. BUT again the depreciation and the fact that it is not a value gaining asset will remain the same.
its a beautifull trailer . love the murphey bed and the recliners but let me tell you there are so many things that they did in that trailer that are not made correctly. that screen is one example that microwave is totally un useable and I am not sure I could even reach that freezer! who in the heck is designing these things?
We really liked this one too but we hear you. Sometimes Size Does Matter like with the microwave. We thought the freezer was ok and the screen is a pain but the issue is not specific to Rockwood many manufacturers are doing this so maybe if we complain enough they will start using the pull down piece in the screen door instead. We think RVs are tough to design. They are such small spaces and manufacturers are trying to cram in as many amenities as possible and the tall people don't have problems with the microwave but hate the shower. If it had auto leveler's it would be the perfect trailer, as were kind of spoiled in that department.
It is a great trailer and you may be able to install electric stabilizer jacks but they are not auto levelers :( I get being spoiled with that so am I. Thanks for watching.

Wheres the best place to get an assumable loan for a travel trailer.
This is not an area that we have a lot of experience in but like any assumable loan it would depend on the lender that holds the current loan and if they allow their loans to be assumed. If they did then you would likely still have to qualify to take the loan over. So we suggest the place to start would be for the current owner to ask their financing company to see what the requirements would be. Hope that helps. Thanks for watching.

Window in bed area is useless . A window at the head of the bed causes moisture and no way to sit up and read
You are entitled to your opinion but we thought the window in the bed area was excellent. There is no reason to expect any more moisture to come from a window at the head of the bed then any other window and the curve at the front of this trailer will not impede sitting up to read. Everything is substandard materials except the top part of the kitchen.
Not sure what facts you are basing your opinion on but if you have anything please send it to doessizematter99@gmail.com and we will review it to determine it's validity. We always want the most info we can find. Just so you are aware the upper cabinets are made of exactly the same materials as the lower ones so not sure why you think the uppers are better. Really ugly... you'll see the blanket off the bed coming out from the top of your head...and what about the pillow and the blanket itself when you'll set it back ? You'll have to fix them every single time you open it again..
Oh too bad you don't like it. It is possible that some of the bedding may show a bit but for us we'd rather have it left on and be seen then have to make it up each night. Pillows are a good point, you would probably have to move them to a closet or something like that but again if the bed is made up and all we have to do is throw on a couple of pillows we would be happy with it. poor lady! how can you do a review on what appears to be something she is totally not familiar with! stupid placement regarding those closets by the bed. whole trailer looks like a joke!
Don't worry about me, I love doing these reviews. We do extensive research on all of them and if there is something you need clarification on as it appears you just don't understand them very well, feel free to ask nicely. Closets by the bed can be challenging but in small spaces it's tough to get as much storage as possible. If this one isn't for you that's ok you should watch all of our reviews, there are hundreds to learn about so get some popcorn and sit down for awhile.
