I checked this bike out at my local Honda shop. It is very impressive with the retro cues - eye candy. Reading the comments conjures up the saying about Harleys: If I have to explain, then you won't understand. This thing is a cool throwback to Honda's roots and it's great to see them pay homage what got them to where they are today.
65mph? That’s the first review where someone actually said their top speed. Thank you! After riding 700-1200cc bikes for years I am seriously considering getting of these as an around town bike. Did I miss a mention of MPG’s? I’m guessing around 160mpg.
I love how everyone is hating on this thing saying it is a bad ‘value’. Keep this up and there will be nothing but FZ07s being made. I don’t want the future to be only ‘value’ bikes, value doesn’t lead to experimentation or excitement.
There is no point in hating on this bike, assuming it is reliable and economical to operate. Honda marketing predicts a profitable demand. Give it a year or two, and we shall see.
The clutch is linked to the speed of the engine. To change gear it is necessary to flick the revs down just before hitting the change lever...The clutch will disengage the engine from the rear driving wheel when the engine is at very low speed (idle) and the bike is in gear. The clutch will then take hold of the drive, as the revs are increased...Although the 125cc engine will get to higher speed, one should always remember that the bike is light, when riding in strong wind.
@@curtgottler9961 Yes it does, i had 100cc 4 speed semi automatic honda basically same system as new super cub , and it was far less problematic and cheaper to run than my other honda with cvt system. But you need to change the engine oil regulary because it's wet clutch type, it had 856XX.km never had any major problem from the gearbox
I want a white one as soon as they are available. I am old without much time left and my favorite bike I have owned was my 1968 Honda 90 scooter. I worked my way up to Harleys, but I had most fun on my 90. It is like going to bed with a fat chick, lot of fun to ride, but you don't want to be seen on one. Ha, yea I know that was terrible.
I want one of these injected models. my ct110 was the most fun I ever had.. a good all around cycle... workhorse but nice to just ride around on and clear your head while you enjoy some turns... as a younger man I didn't think the handling was going to be anything spectacular but I was pleasantly surprised.
I have owned 98 motorcycles and this is one of my favorites. It is a bicycle with an engine. My Grom and Monkey, not a big fan of small wheels with DC pot holes and my Honda ADV weighs 60 lbs more. Has anyone figured out how to down shift without straining the gear box?
Ah! The 'Experts' all chime-in! (and nothing but *pissing & moaning* over 'Price' and 'It should have 4,000cc engine!' etc.) And not a word over $24-dollar T-shirts from China that cost perhaps .50-cents each from a wholesaler.
*There's a 'clutch' alright...but it's always engaged* The entire transmission is always 'in-gear' but at low rpm's it won't move the machine...there's just enough power for the rear-wheel to turn when the scoot is on the center-stand...you can stop it with just your fingers!
Gerry Nightingale thanks for semantic correcting my correction. My point is the video says it’s an automatic ... and there are gears you need to shift with your foot. So it very much is not an automatic and this particular transmission is listed very clearly in the specs of these bikes as a “Four-speed semi-automatic” So I stand by my original post. 😉

Honda makes and sells this bike in Vietnam for less than $2000. They also makes a lot of other scooter and for price $1500. I’m not sure why price for US market is $3600, maybe just because Americans have more money?
Exactly. It’s priced for the market it sells in. I suppose one could try to buy one overseas and have it imported. You’d be trading money saved for time and hassle.
If the oil change is anything like the groms then beware..and the 4 spd gearbox sounds sketchy and sounds prone to issues but we'll see in time. Still prefer the 125 Zuma 16+...plus loads of under seat storage 👍
you are correct ...maybe they should just make it very basic so they can lower the price to 2k...those alloy rims and those chromes accents maybe is $1.6k LOL
Price is not bad but lingers right there with the Grom. While i can see the appeal, the similar price makes the case for the Grom. If a few hundred wont matter the Monkey is it.
Top end on flat ground, no wind conditions is 50mph, maybe a bit more with good air density, gravity, or wind. 65 is a blatant lie. Courtesy of Half Vast Flying

Had a Honda Z50 a few million years ago (actually 46). This Cub would be a great RV hitch-mount.
For a high school kid just starting to ride or going collage across town this would be a nice bike .
Honda Trail 90 and Trail 50... My childhood has come full circle.

Needs the longer seat like the 60s model cub 50 to sharply increase sales

I wonder if this type of transmission is less prone to problems than a CVT of a normal scooter.

Meh. It’s a Honda.
Well its been three years....you still stand by your words? No offense.

They should have made it a little more powerful, just like the trail 90 was to the trail 50... Not much appeal for it short of low theft qualities.
