Love your videos. It makes me feel like "I could totally do this!" Thanks for all of them! So amazing! You know would be awesome? You showing how to replace a pool deck! The reason being I've got an old pool and would love to replace the coping. If that is even an option? Do you have any plans on doing something like that? Or have you worked at doing that before and just didn't video it? Thanks!
I have a 115 year old house that needs concrete repair work and I have learned a lot in 2 days from watching your videos. I feel confident that I can now practice in my basement where I installed drain tile. Then I can move on to repairing the front porch and rear patio without demolishing them. Your videos are much appreciated! Thank you!
Looking good as usual. To answer your question. I never could get dependable guys. Always had to drag people out of bed. Even my own son got that way before he finally quit on me. That kind of stress put me down with a heart attack. Never did recover enough to go back at it.
Mike, you and your guys are awesome!! We pour two pool decks a week in Massachusetts. The only thing we do differently is I cut my joints off every radius at an angle then every 8-10' off those depending what size the pool is. Love your channel
I backfilled around my entire pool from the concrete collar with high performance bedding. Would this be fine to pour my concrete deck around pool for my bullnose paver coping to glue to ?
getting ready to go full time on my own myself, as far as employees finding that type of guy is a dime a dozen. I train all the new guys coming into the union and its rough for them. usually dont make it more than a few days. your a lucky guy to have great help like that
From wisonsin. Worked around pools, from installing, to pouring concrete. Very nice job! Way to take care of the pool edges, against the coping. Also have you ever dumped a wheelbarrow of concrete into a pool? (It's amazing to see, but don't recommend lol)
Great videos. I have a garage that steps down of 9inchs when walking in the door. There is a concrete subfloor in place do I have to put it 8inch of concrete again. What would you do.? Fill with 4inch gravel and four inch concrete? The garage is 16 ftx10. Would you recommend maybe half 4inch gravel 4inch concrete then slope in down to garage door?
4" gravel and 4" concrete is fine. You'd have to price it out both ways. You may not save any money with the gravel unless you spread and compact it yourself.
Hey mike i am new to flat work concrete i used to do foundations and walls before. In this video i was wondering why you could not/didnt use your bull float to finish, then broom it? i understand around the ladders and posts but why not the rest?
@@nestorsalvador9236 It definitely could, but you’ve really got to consider how much you’ll be using a specialized piece of equipment like that too. That machine Mike had in the video goes for about $10K. If you only need it once a month or so, you might be better off just renting. Most equipment rental companies will drop it off and pick it up as well or you’ll be needing a trailer for it also.
when I first started pouring concrete with other guys it was difficult cause every guy works different some guy would say do this the other would say no do it this way! lol!
What most newbies don't realize is that things done one way today might be done differently tomorrow on a different job tomorrow.....heck, sometimes the same job on the same day
Super easy. Easy money!
ain't nothin easy about concrete. You guys make it look easy. Great job!
Mike... You make it look easy brother. As always, another great video. Nice work !
Thanks 👍
That stand up screed is a great idea. I work by myself a lot, and I'm old. I'll be digging around the shop for a bull float head to make one.
We do lots of pool decks all over New England mostly exposed aggregate and broom finish we put plastic joints in our pool decks nice job
Awesome, thank you!

Looking to redo our pool deck in the Holden area soon.
I just bought a second power buggy this week, I probably tailgate once a month anymore.
They are handy to use, for sure.

Mike... My toro mud buggy is the power buggy you all need. Best buggy there is .

No doubt, walls usually weed em out too. Whereabouts are ya?
You guys work like a well oiled machine
Hey Mike - what kind of mix do you use for pool decks? Do you use fiber (macro or micro)? Thanks.
We do pool decks all the time! What kind of groover did you use on this job? Thanks!
What is the purpose of using magnesium

Easy when you know that the concrete is the boss.
You got my like 👍🏽 Mike’s team
Can I ask you something? Why you guys doesn’t use the funny float? You don’t like it?

Great video, you guys add any retarder/decelerator very often? Is 4 the stiffest u guys usually pour?

Also your videos are extremely helpful. 100% helped me kickstart my company thank you!
Hi Mike, do you also make a groove for a slab 10 x 11,5 ft? It's for a shed.
Not if it's 6" thick. 4" I probably would.
@@MikeDayConcrete Yes, it's 6" or a bit more. Wooden shed. Also with metal mat in the concrete. I'm in a doubt if I would create a frost edge.
Mike, what are these concrete forms made out of? Is it a true 2x4? And where can I purchase them?
Yep, those buggies can move a lot of concrete pretty quickly. For the $100 bucks rental, they’re well worth it.
Amen there, good to see you back!
Even better if you buy one saves you money in the long run

Yea we got 3 cause we also do alot of drain tile . so having multiple buggys goin makes job go fast .
how was the broom finish with the poly fiber ?
We use micro-fiber, it's barely noticable.
Georgia Buggy getting it done.
Did you have to ground or bond the steel mesh? In Ontario, i need to have that all inspected before I can pour.
Poles should be grounded but yea same here in Ohio just poured a hot tube pad had to ground the steel mesh n cleats
I diy a lot of things, but this is something I'll leave to the pros.
why so many people have pool in maine since it is not long summer for swim
lots of rich peoples 2nd homes.
Hey Mike, let's get some help on a few smaller, annoying job, like forming & pouring croncrete steps or repairing them with an overcast.

Wheel barrow concrete long enough, your arms get longer! Local #754 Common Laborers and Hod Carriers 😎 now they’re “Construction Craft Laborers”
when I first started pouring concrete with other guys it was difficult cause every guy works different some guy would say do this the other would say no do it this way! lol!
Lol indeed, everyone has their quirks, hopefully they can be laid back and not fuss. Works hard enough as is

Got to be a pain to not spill anything in the pool!
That's what I thought, never did 1 with water done in😐
Make sure that girl holds that laser stick plum!!
Will do!
its so wet
Watching a man set forms without wearing any tools bag ...its very unprofessional
I know concrete......it’s not hard!!
Even when it's hot? Stiff mix? No water, no help, AND want it to look good?
