    I believe doctors are unwilling to listen to their patients due to arrogance and unable to because of insurance companies. That being said, it was a doctor who literally saved my life. I struggled with my double digit A1C for years. I happened to watch a 7 min video
    by Dr. Jason Fung June 2019. After a few months my A1C dropped to 6.7. So when you say doctors aren't helping people as they should please don't lump him in with the rest. I've subscribed to your videos in part because of him and I'm grateful to both of you. I keep records of my bloodwork that will back up my statement and I look forward to meeting each of you one day to thank you personally.

    Finally an honest doctor! I'm a lifetime carb junkie! Been listening to this man since January 2nd. I'm no longer on any insulin and my high blood pressure medication is decreased. I am 57 and have lost 36 lbs as of this morning. I have a significant way to go to get to a healthy weight, but see the light at the end of the tunnel. What makes me angry is the doctors I've seen didn't tell me the truth about carbs. No more carbs for this gal because I know I have an addictive personality. Thank you doctor and God bless you!

    My doctor when I lived in the US was great. I was suffering from depression. My diet was questionable. He gave me two options. Option 1: refer me to a specialist so that I could be put on a variety of anti-depressants until we find something that works and doesn’t actually make things worse, with no end in sight. Option 2 (and his personal suggestion): cut down sugar, eat healthier Whole Foods, limit my carbs, slowly get on an exercise regiment that fits my schedule, take long walks and spend time outside and get more sunlight. I went for option 2 and now I’m glad that he was honest about what would have the best outcome and didn’t just push me towards medication.

    I simply do not trust standard medical doctors, with a few exceptions like yourself Dr Cywes (and you are anything but "standard"). I do a sh*t ton of my own research. I am a Registered Holistic Nutritionist. I have a Naturopathic Dr that although I haven't seen in a while supports me in taking control of my own health and aids me in achieving my goals. I'm also a big proponent of n=1 studies. Who else knows my body better than me?
    Thank you for all the knowledge you share that allows us to empower ourselves and take control of our health.

    I was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes in my late 50s. Now I'm 73. I have never had one doctor educate me about Diabetes & low carbs till I stumbled onto your videos on UA-cam. I've had docs tell me to lose weight and exercise but you have actually explained the entire process. I'm now following Keto to lower my blood sugar and an elevated CRP. Will keto lower my CRP? @@Gesundheit888 Dr. Eric Westman and a few other doctors have put together a pamphlet/booklet for doctors dealing with Type 2 diabetes. So, depending on who you're target audience is, the information can be customized for family practitioners, cardiologists, gastroenterologists and more. These doctors need to be educated. We as patients try but it's more powerful coming from other medical professionals.

    Like Ivor, I am an engineer. I got this years ago when deconstructing my own case of PCOS. I have been trying to educate some doctors for over 30 years to no avail. Luckily docs such as yourself have come along so the path of least resistance is to seek you out. This is why I sent my friend from NJ to FL to you. I have found a reasonable endo in NY for myself. I will be retiring in about 2 years and relocating to NC. You can bet that I will be contacting Dr. Eric Westman.

    I tried to education my physician. I gave him two Dr. Jason Fung books on diabetes and fasting. He did not read them. He made fun of intermittent fasting. He told me "you can't outrun a bad diet" in response to my LDL (I never suggested I would.) He used "standards of care" for his excuse _after_ all this.
    IMO, your doctor is unlikely to listen until he gets fat, diabetic, CVD, or some combination. I don't say this entirely from personal experience, but also from what so many LCHF doctors have told me about their own experiences. They think the patient is non-compliant, because they assume the standard advice works.
    When I knew I needed better LCHF advice, I fired my doctor, and told him I'd been cramming for his lipid tests using the Feldman Protocol. Sadly, I knew more about these topics than he did.

    • @CarbageMan
      @CarbageMan 4 роки тому +2

      @@bradr539 Oh yeah, right. Thanks for clarifying. 😃
      He did do that. That's not the Feldman Protocol, though. The Feldman Protocol involves satiating yourself with a more moderate diet for days before the fast, and making it exactly twelve hours.
      This will fill your glycogen reserve, inhibiting fat burning during the 12-hour fast. If you go in while burning fat, it may raise your LDL. I once went in for my lipid blood draw being several days fasted, and my LDL had doubled.

    • @CarbageMan
      @CarbageMan 4 роки тому +1

      @@bradr539 Also note that he has created a page with three options, the first of which being what I followed. Note that he doesn't say to moderate the diet, but that will ensure your glycogen reserve is maxed so you won't burn fat during the 12-hour fast.

I choose to improve my odds at a long life by, not listening to all the quack medical doctors pushing their drugs on unsuspecting people, but by living a low-carb, drug free, alcohol free lifestyle. Of course, there will be slipups along the way, only because I'm human, but at least I will be in charge of my health and not some idiot.

    I am so glad that I found your videos! I am off the diabetes and blood pressure meds (just thyroid pills left). My weight is down 40 pounds, with about 60 more to go, but there is no rush as this is my way of eating from now on. My A1c has went from 8 plus (with meds) to 5.8 in 9 months. It should continue to go even lower. A lot of Keto supporters encourage cheat days or cheat meals...but I can't do that. I went on a 3 week cruise and also during the holidays and stuck with the keto way of eating. I don't trust myself to open that door. You helped me understand that I am a carb addict. There is not "in moderation" for me. I just need to stay away and that is okay. Thanks so much for getting the message out there.

    Thank you Dr. Cywes, your lectures are so well done. I have been on this train for over a couple years now and have found tremendous health benefits. I was not morbidly obese and my wife and kids are not obese. My two boys (6,8) do have health issues like asthma and eczma, but otherwise appear very healthy. For the life of me I cannot get my wife on board with the idea of cutting back carbs with our kids. She thinks because we aren't fat or have any major problems that its ridiculous to be so restrictive and create eating disorders with our boys. She just got them pancakes, and I just don't know what to do, i have talked with her so many times in the past, so now it just falls on def ears. We give our kids inhalers, and adhd medication and its hard to watch. I work crazy long hours so unfortunately I can't be much of a presence in their daily routine. With this quarantine I have been around more and eating with my family every meal and it just highlights my frustrations. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
