@@redbonegirl1757 As much as I hate Dr. Ken Berry, I quote "do not trust fat doctors". No, I will not listen to either of them. He needs to be an example of what he pushes. He is quite fat with a ton of visceral fat. Look at the midsection.
@@redbonegirl1757 What great information? Why doesn't he apply to himself? He has quite the gut.
Word. He had me at “im sorry”. Instantly clicked
I cancelled my appt with my OB after “her” NOT listening to my symptoms only my bloodwork. I was told I was a normal 46 yr old woman with a period. Have some wine and exercise 😢I went to a specific hormone therapy center and they told me they will treat my symptoms! bHRT and progesterone prescribed and I feel like a new woman. I have testosterone too. Please look at the fact that as men need estrogen- women need testosterone. Thank u for understanding us more!🎉
When I was in my late 50’s even tho I worked out with weights and ate strict ketovore.I started loosing muscle mass like overnight post menopause. My skin and hair was dry , I was loosing muscle mass , was tired all the time and I have a mother who has osteoporosis.. I started taking bio-identical hormones, estrogen , progesterone and testosterone pellets .. I was also very low on thyroid so I take replacement..It COMPLETELY turned around all my issues.. The place I go keeps a close eye on my levels. I purposely take a LOW DOSE of Testosterone because I don’t care about the libido, I also don’t want facial hair. What these hormones, ketovore diet, and working out have done for me has been so much better.. It’s not like a miracle but it is SO MUCH better .. My muscles are back, I have a lot more energy, my skin is hydrated, great sleep, and so far my bone density scans look very good.. Idk if I will ever stop these ..I’m 63, still work full time and have literally ZERO aches and pains…
I took the pellets for a couple of years. EXPENSIVE, and the business that I went to was shut down by the state here in Nashville, TN.
@@kelila_1688 yes they are definitely expensive and it would be interesting to know the exact reason for them being shut down.. Ik there are less expensive ways to get the hormones, there are creams and patches which I may go to myself when I retire from work..
Wow. I'm 63 and on disability and I'm pretty sure I'm half dead.
@@kelila_1688 yes they are expensive, no doubt. It would be interesting to know why the place was closed down. I do know you have to be careful about where you go because some places that do the pellets are not well supervised. The place I go is very prudent about checking my bloodwork once a year to keep an eye on my levels and more often if I have any issues..they also did a full bloodwork panel of my hormones and things like vit D ,calcium and the B vitamins before they ever put me on anything ..
Did you try the estradiol patch and progesterone?
Thank you for this. In peri-menopause and about to investigate this. Can’t believe how low my energy is. This helps me to be more informed to speak with my GP.
I see a Dr. Christine Hatfield in Vernon Bc, Canada. She specializes in HRT and has me on pellet therapy HRT. It has made a significant difference in my life.
Transdermal is best, as it bypasses liver.
Plant free at age 41 and had my last baby at age 42. Carnivore pregnancy, glucpse, bg at 75 throughout.
Thanks for the apology. I lost my uterus and ovaries. I was wo Hrt. For 20 years. It ruined my life
Thank you. I appreciate you.
Bone health, bone health, bone health! That is the reason I take HRT
Hysterectomy at 39 and been on Oestrogen for 20 years and will NEVER stop. If / when my GP refuses me - will just get someone to pick me some up from Spain (you can buy it over the counter there). Without it i sleep 2-3 hours a night, can't think straight, knees, wrist and elbow joints are agony, hair loss (but never had a hot flash). Worst of all i have such bad palps that they thought i had arrhythmia and I've had all kinds of heart tests.
I take Nattokinase as it's said to bust clots / thin the blood - but I'm also a healthy BMI, vege, don't smoke or drink and exercise daily (walking mostly). It's about weighing up risks and, from my family tree, my lot die more from heart attacks than cancers. But you're not taking my HRT!!!!
If insulin isn’t responsible for controlling blood sugar levels, glycogen IS- wouldn’t a glycogen supplement work better for diabetics than insulin?
Serious question. My grandmother was a severe diabetic and we spent HUNDREDS/week on insulin and other supplies.
Also, as a chronically ill woman, I respect a Dr who apologizes. Thank you.
Post menopausal and Never wanted hrt but the fatigue got so bad I couldn't do hardly anything. Went on it and omg what a difference. Always had estrogen dominance and high testosterone most of my adult life so getting hrt balanced has been difficult. Went from cream to pills with progesterone so we'll see how that goes.
They don't like to prescribed HRT except for sexual reasons. Therefore some insurances consider it a sexual med., that they won't cover. Yet they allow Testosterone Clinics to open across the country.
Use wild yam cream balances your hormones
Isn’t it true that the adrenals make sex hormones ? Both, before and after menopause... Shouldn’t we women focus on getting healthy, and giving our body the cholesterol to be able to make these hormones? I, personally, always look to ancestral health. Our female ancestors didn’t supplement with anything, including “bio-identical “ hormones. Heal your body with nutrition and proper lifestyle
That is what I have been thinking. Its our past diets that messed us up in menopause. I don't believe we were built flawed. My Keto doc keeps pushing the HRT and supplements. I really don't want any of that stuff.
I’ve heard that argument (Dr. Bright et al) and certainly strive for dietary and other natural inputs rather than supplements. But at age 64, after over 7 years of whole food keto/Ketovore/carnivore and all of the other lifestyle optimizing measures/bio hacks, I think I’ve given my adrenals enough of a chance to kick in appropriately, if they in fact are making estrogen. They have not. My estrogen, progesterone, and testosterone are all in the tank. And I feel and have all of the symptoms accordingly. So I have gone down the rabbit hole of deep study on the matter. And I have an appointment later this month to hopefully get some BHRT on board. So far the most common sense practitioner I have heard on the matter is Dr. Susan Hardwick Smith. She has lots of great UA-cam videos. She also cautions, like Dr. Cywes is here, against the most commonly prescribed testosterone dosages for women as being too high… particularly what the pellet companies recommend on their calculators.
I prefer to listen to practitioners who have lots of experience in their very specific field and a great track record of helping women… and it also helps if they are a woman themselves.. a lot less explaining and lobbying to be fully heard is required.
our ancestors didnt live as long as we do now...
You must follow Dr Elizabeth Bright?
@donnawhitecotten361 ive heard that too. I wonder why?
ARGH!!!!!! YOU NEVER GOT TO THE PROPER APOLOGY!!!!!! How about the role of adding some carb at certain times in the cycle (of a cycling female) to produce progesterone? THIS IS SO FREAKING IMPORTANT!!!!!! I am one who premenopausally, was on a SUPER low carb diet. I am a type A personality and when I do something… I DO IT… so I was staying SUPER low carb all month long… for 5.5 yrs. Where did that get me? Progesterone THROUGH THE FLOOR, cortisol not even on the curve… IN HORMONE HELL, that’s where super low carb got me! It literally took 9 YEARS to recover from that misery!!! PLEASE do some research for your premenopausal female patients about adding some carb during certain phases of the cycle. Ask Dr Mindy Pelz if you need to talk to someone about it. She’s on youtube and THANK GOD talks about this.
Apparently, they only spend an extremely small amount of time in schooling, on things like menopause. And its basically minimized as a need for learning anything else other than what they're taught. Its not really Doctors' fault....theyre taught to recognize then treat symptoms. Not to spend time and interest in questioning symptoms, learning everything in their field as well as how their field works with the rest of your systems. But the Doctors who have the interest in questioning and learning...and discover theres some real problems in what theyve been taught and led to think....and have the bravery to acknowledge theyve overlooked so much. Many have claimed that they were basically taught that yhe women who still claim to have problems after the usual, standard treatments, were labeled with names( making fun of them) as complainers, whiners, etc....
Feminine dryness a libido?
How about dry scalp and hair loss?
I can usually tell how old a woman is when I'm sitting behind her by how much hair she has lost. The silver haired ones with a relatively full head of hair have clearly been on Estrogen therapy.
I've always been told that you never give a woman progesterone if she's had a full hysterectomy. Is that correct?
Every time I’ve tried to even take herbs that increased testosterone. I end up being an angry dangerous person so I just don’t even try but I did notice an interesting note. What about hormones and ligaments? What is that? I have always had hip issues past. 40.
What about hrt for those of us with stage 4 breast cancer who both, want to feel better and want to keep cancer at as low levels as possible?
This is why I won't go to a male doctor. The research for HRT far exceeds help versus harm for some women. It has taken me many years to research and find competent female physicians who specialize in HRT. It makes me sad for all the women who do not do their own research and please keep searching for the competent doctor to help you! Needless suffering both physically and mentally, by incompetent information given...😢

Post menopause it’s been one hell of a ride. 14 years and I finally got the hot flashes under control.
Apparently we need Vitamin B 1,3,6p5p,9,12, in including vitamin D. Not one doctor has told me this. 14 years and I did the research because I can’t have HRT. Ladies look into your vitamin deficiency
Yes. I take a B complex methylate. Take vitamin K2 with D3. Omega 3 too with high DHA and EPA at least 1500 daily.
Doctors are not trained on supplements their training is dealing with symptoms through chemical drugs.
Exactly!!! Just by taking B12 I had my life back
Exactly! Addressing and correcting vitamin and mineral deficiencies has helped me so very much!
You can have Rx vaginal estrogen. Even if you have breast cancer. New guidelines.
Thank you Brenda
As a 57-year-old woman on HRT, I can confirm this is 100% accurate. All of my medical issues have been related to the lack of Estrogen. The brain fog, the stabbing eye pain, excruciating joint pain, and bladder frequency to name a few. But none of my doctors (Gyno/Ophthalmologist/Urologist) or physical therapists put the pieces together - I did. They treated the symptoms, not the underlying cause. And I don't understand why they didn't know? It's not like this is a new syndrome. Women have been going through this change for, oh idk...millennia? Aristotle was even talking about it. So, I asked for the Combipatch and now I am feeling so much better! Even my mood has been uplifted. My brain lit up, my eyes no longer hurt, and my joints are slowly getting better. I'm just angry that I had to suffer for so long without the right help. I hear that in medical school they get about 1 hour of lecture on Menopause 🙄 women's pain and suffering are often dismissed as us just being "whiny women." So, I am ecstatic that doctors are now realizing what's going on! Thank you!
Edit: And I will never go off them! Don't let your doctor give them short-term only. Demand them and find a doctor who will understand!
When I got my first period at 14 I freaked out, I refused to go back to school because of excrutiating pain. My parents told me to suck it up all girls deal with it. I refused, I cried. So mom finally called the family doctor and he was actually informed, he diagnosed me with dysmenorrhea and pmdd and put me on anti inflammatories so I could go to school. They aren't all bad, even back 20 some years ago old white guys took care of us, too.
Someone who has eye pain like me, I’m stunned! You’re the only person that I’ve “known” that’ve had this too.
You know what? My eyes don’t hurt either. Wow. I would go to a dark room and “rest” them. I had no idea it was menopause
Thank the lord someone has woke up to woman’s suffering
I’d rather take that tiny risk of cancer than suffer with the physical pain and degeneration. The ligaments in the hips and joints, pain, sleeplessness, brain fog, hair loss, skin deterioration, and on and on. It is literally the difference between living your life and dying your life. What is the point in playing the game to only be able to sit on the bench?
If they can make men into women with hormones, surely they can have the compassion and courtesy to give biological women their rightful hormones. I hardly think the main purpose of this science is to deny this relief to women. IMO it should be the gold standard and not a five years only treatment we have to beg for.
Your comment brought tears to my eyes. I can not believe the changes in my body with menopause. It's a horrible way to live and try to function.
I'm trying Siberian Rhubarb root and wild yam. The Rhubarb gives me a headache but the yam seems to be helping me sleep better.
@@Willowtablelook at info on the my alloy you tube channel...a lot of sourced, factual info about benefits of HRT & how most if not all if the misinformation from the big WHO study in early 2000 has been walked back. It's infuriating women have been discouraged from hrt for so long, given the tremendous benefits to our bones, heart & brain....
Right I think this often. The doctors will give underage boys puberty blockers and estrogen but give a menopausal women grief about getting hormonal help who's suffering with a lack of estrogen
Hormones or mutilation…Men can never be made into women.
I am now officially my own medical doctor, I did my own research.
I feel like this nowadays. 😊
I think we are all our own doctors these days.😊
Sadly it's been the standard that males make the decisions, if they experienced the same suffering as women in menopause, there would be an appropriate hormone dispenser in every corner store, free of charge.... we are half the population, we raise your children, we work and make a contribution to society we are your other half, and we suffer it means a great deal to hear your apology and compassion, thank you ❤, it's voices like you that make the difference for us going forward.
Not just males. I have a female doctor and she gives me the runaround regarding bhrt or any hormone replacement.
My female doctor dismisses my symptoms and says I'm too young for peri menopause, I don't think it's a gender thing, it's a doctor thing
I wouldn't know anything about this. I have been in menopause since 2010 and have never had my hormone levels checked. I'm miserable but nobody cares. The medical field sucks.
I’m sorry to hear that, you deserve better. My Naturopath prescribed BHRT and I feel like a new person, so I recommend giving it a shot
I've been in surgical menopause since 2007. Took HRTs for about five years, started getting bad side effects so I STOPPED them all. Still suffering but, I take vitamins and herbs to minimize these pains of everyday living.
Well, after menopause your hormone levels are little to none, no one needs to check. That’s what menopause is really. There are menopause docs here on UA-cam that can give you the education that doctors don’t seem to have themselves, like Barbara Taylor.
Go to a Chinese herbalist he can help you very well
I've had nightmare menopause for several years . Finally went on patch . Within 24 hours I was so agitated I couldn't stand it . I developed a headache so bad I vomited and started having hotflashes every half hour .
It was worse than the situation I'd been in . Took it off and in a day and a half I was fine . It's not the panacea everyone raves about .
Thank you for helping women with this issue!!!! Peri menopausal symptoms have ruled my life during the last few years. Thought I was losing my mind and body. My gyno and gp ONLY wanted to give me anti depressants. I’ve never felt so unheard. I’m slowly finding doctors who are helping but it has been a bit of a fight.
I 100% agree - it's an uphill fight because MOST Drs are looking at and thinking about a "study" that was done years ago , and it wasn't a reliable study at all - YET, they base their decision making and their opinions on that faulty study to say that Hormone Replacement Therapy is "dangerous" -- listen to experts on hormone therapy -- that study was very faulty. Women NEED those hormones to continue to feel, and be well.
Peri menopause is a nightmare for most women but generally once monthlies stop at say 52 its a new lease f life
@@anoodono1841I'm 52 and still waiting lol
Totally matches my experience until my GP and gyno, both female, hit the same place as women that I was in myself, then all of a sudden we had "a wealth of options."
At this point it matters not how all 3 of us got there, just glad we did but very much underfunded and misunderstood branch of medicine.
Hormone depletion affects literally every part of a womans body and can affect her employment and relationships as well. Needs to be way better dealt with.
Menopausal here. Yeah I’m feeling pretty abandoned by allopathy. Not much interest once I can no longer bear children. Dr Cywes is one of the few caring and curious docs about this stage in a woman’s life.
Respectfully ...As a woman if you have low to no testosterone you can benefit from it. PCOS is a condition that happens during your fertile years, once your ovaries stop producing and "shut off" your testosterone levels can drop dramatically. So in late stage perimenopause or at menopause you may need a little testosterone. You have testosterone receptors throughout the female body as well. It helps with depression, anxiety, motivation and protective of the heart, bones, muscle and brain. I recommend listening to Dr. Louise Newsom, a UK HRT specialist - she is a wealth of knowledge and leading expert in when and why to use testosterone in HRT for women. Thank you and appreciate your work. 😊
.
Dr. Newsom is WONDERFUL and I LOVE listening to her - she is a wealth of wonderful knowledge and help!
I tried the cream 1st.For my estrogen and within a week I stared to get a equalibrumen dizzy like vertigo .I quit taking them within 3 or 4 days I was better. Then I tried the pellets they worked ok but I gained weight like crazy. So I do not take those so now Im just taking D3,K2.And B12 shots. It has helped to make me feel better and no brain fog.
PCOS is an expression of insulin resistance. Going very low carbohydrate in your diet will help tremendously.
Dhea does the trick
Agreed. I moved to a different part of the country and saw a new GP. With a shocked look on his face, he said to me, "I literally can't believe you are taking testosterone!". As if I told him I offed people for fun.
I took HRT for 8 years after a hysterectomy. At that time they were taken away from me. Lo and behold, now I am in my 70’s with osteoporosis. I am furious. Thank you, Sir. It is a great man who can review his beliefs and apologize.
I am so sorry. I went through a hysterectomy (total) at 35. I couldn’t fathom living life without it. I went about 6 months without it and literally thought I was dying. I’m still working on the balance because it seems like when I hit 52 things changed again. It still is waaaaaay better than without it!!!
You know you can get hrt creams online? that's how I started 14 years ago. now my doctor prescribes it. I am sorry what you wentthrough but its not too late to get some.

Something to also acknowledge is that carb addiction is closely related to energy tanking. About the time our hormones tank were in prime time taking care of parents and families. Whether it’s sugar or alcohol sometimes this is the energy we’re craving to just stay function. Granted. After an initial energy rush then it’s addict behavior but really what needs to be addressed is the energy shortage many middle age woman feel and the reality there are no days off if you’re feeling low energy
This fact is such a huge part of it.
so true
When I started eating very low carb - no white flour, no junk foods all my symptoms went away, but as soon as I eat bread or crackers I start to get hot flashes again.
OMG, any type of sugar set off my hot flashes!! Why are women not told this!!!!

What a wise and noble person. Post meno here. Had blood tests and all three hormones were in the tank, just started bHRT. Not specifically for sexual function, but mainly for brain fog, fatigue, depression, lack of muscle recovery. I do not have PCOS and my physician would not prescribe testosterone if a patient had PCOS. It’s only been one week into the treatment and I’m sleeping better, clearer head, and feel motivated to care for myself.
We r mirrored women. But I have testosterone in my pellet. It’s been a few weeks. My Free T was at zero. I believe in T for women 100%. I was told it would take 3 months to feel pellet. I have such bad fatigue and low drive I feel dead some days….

I had sudden menopause at age 45 due to chemo for ER/PR breast cancer. I struggled with sleep, brain fog, energy, and weighed in at 170 lbs. I was desperate and wanted to feel and sleep better. I took bio identical hormones E3, PR, and testosterone for over a year. I then tried a low dose testosterone pellet and my hair started falling out. I said no way. Im done. I never lost weight. Never really slept better. It wasn’t the magic fix i hoped for. I ended up doing a ketogenic diet along with intermittent fasting and that helped a lot of things. It’s been over 6 years and i am 135 lbs and 5’5. I feel and look vibrant and younger in face and body than others my age, even though becoming menopausal at a young age. In my experience, keto is better than bio identical hormones. I am 18 yrs survivor next month. Hallelujah
Congratulations! Me too... 22 years post breast cancer (10/10 estrogen and progesterone positive), survivor.
🙏💙
Post menopausal w/o HRT means you are very likely to get 1 or more of the 3 silent diseases: osteoporosis, Alzheimer's, heart attack. Dr. took mom off HRT years ago and she ended up with all 3 😢
For some. Wonder how you would have does if you had taken transdermal estrogen, progesterone via cremes and a DHEA supplement.
@@lisabass5188 Most likely exacerbated by the HRT - estrogen.
So much misunderstanding re: estrogen - if one really dives into the literature; it is not diminished in the post menopausal woman. What can be a problem is the imbalance of estrogen and progesterone. Medicine only measures the blood level of estradiol, not the other estrogens which are produced from aromatases present in many tissues - including fat. These estrogens can inter-convert. When tissue/cellular levels are measured, they are elevated. Estrogen is inflammatory, anti-metabolic, and as you know - carcinogenic. Not just breast cancer - any cancer. I'm surprised anyone would prescribe those with your cancer history! An additional problem with bio-identical hormones (plant extracts) is that despite the 'identical' in the name, they aren't exactly the same; and aren't fully understood. i.e some have different effects in different cell types than our mammalian hormones. This makes them hard to predict.
I think a lot of the symptoms attributed to estrogen could be due to other things as he mentioned - thyroid, insulin, cortisol, or ironically too much estrogen. So your experience makes sense.
I guess some ppl report feeling better with estrogen/progesterone replacement,, but I also hear a lot of stories like yours. Maybe some progesterone is helping? Don't really know, but theoretically it can only be a bad thing in the long run, so glad you listened to your body! The 'estrogen industry' is big and powerful . More likely a lot of problems women have are more likely due to the excess estrogen they have been consuming for years or decades with the birth control.
Glad you are feeling better!
It's awesome you're open to this now. I have to say, it's so obvious this has been based off of men's thoughts on it when you said it was prescribed for libido. So it's only prescribed when men benefit, not when women are insanely uncomfortable all the time. It's crazy it has taken this long to get here. Thank you for being open to this. You're already doing better than many others.
One wonders if female drs do the inverse for men and prescribe to lower the libido of all those horny bastards 🙄
Everything in life is for the benefit of men. Even your body.
Exactly my thought... if it doesn't benefit men, they don't give a beep! Same with childbearing. Intense focus on prenatal care, close to zero on postnatal. As long as women deliver their offspring, who cares how they recover. And geriatric women, forget it! Misogyny still thrives on so many levels 😒

I look so much younger on hrt.
I was 40 and had a hysterectomy and went into menopause overnight! My doctor, a female, put me on a low patch hormonal medication. I didn’t respond well, and I was allergic the adhesive on the patches. I found a clinic in Cape Town called Hormonal Health. I discovered it when I was visiting CT. The waiting list can be long, I waited just over 4 months. I also travelled from Tanzania to see the doctor there. I'm glad I went as healthcare in TZ is terrible. Good luck
No sex. Dried up. Done. No fantasies, no mood, no desire, no interest. Year 5.
Right there with you .
I don't want that back, but I sure feel incredibly weak.
If you do want that back, try intermittent fasting. It changed my life.
I get hrt though Winona. It's mail order, online and it's been fantastic for me. Affordable and the MD responds to my messages within hours. I went to three MD's/gyno before I found Winona and Winona has been way better.
I've had HRT via the pellet for 15 years after a partial hysterectomy at 40! I don't suffer joint pain, sleep well and everyone says I look 10 years younger than my age! I absolutely recommend it! ❤
I’m in my mid 50’s and struggle with this change too. I am mostly carnivore and see an improvement. I don’t understand why God would create a person that needs HRT? I’m open but not sold on it for this reason. I exercise daily, walk and am buying a ruck…I believe our ancestors were hunter gatherers and the exercise and diet solves a lot of this..,I’m just thinking out loud here, not trying to debate.
Thank you! I am 56 year old female, 3 years out of menopause. I started HRT 4 years ago. I went from having huge issues with anxiety, depression and fatigue to having energy and spark in my life. I walk at least 5 miles per day, I love life, I try to eat healthy and I look at my challenges with optimism. I thank the doctor (my PCP sent me to of a hysterectomy consult) who put me on estradiol and progesterone supplements everyday. I still have my uterus and I am a different woman. I'm hoping for many healthy years to come.
I think the worse part is talking to your doctor about it all and being ignored or offered anti-depressants. my doctor offered me birth control pills, I don't need my cycle to be shut down and replaced by fake hormones, I need my hormones to be adjusted.
Thank you. The effects of menopause has been catastrophic for me. My female GYN gaslit me when I begged her for help. Thank goodness Doctors are waking up. My PCM (male) listened:)
Menopause was terrible. Having Endo, I did not dare take any hormones. I tried the Pill at 20 but got depressed and sobbed, very unlike me. Hormones could have helped me, but now I am 62 and had undiagnosed Endo for 25 years. Gaslighted, several operations, opiods, withdrawel. Made me shy doctors and hospitals the last 20 years. Very glad some doctors educate. Thanks.
What's Endo?
@jessyjess1373 I think she means Endometriosis.
sorry for what you suffered through, it's just not fair for women dealing with it alone. 😪hugs
I had endometriosis and fibroids. Had a full vaginal hysterectomy. Only left my ovaries. So wonderful to not have periods, don’t have to worry about getting pregnant, and no more pain. Why suffer???
I just entered menopause, have been on HRT for a few years now for symptoms that were destroying my life. It has been a difficult process to get to a better place but the gaslighting by health professionals has been one of the worst parts. There is a huge bias/stigma against older women in our society and many just do not want to hear an aging woman's "complaints." I never had trouble being heard when I was young. I am also now shy of doctors. Sorry you have gone through all that.
It's been way more of a trial at menopause than I ever anticipated. It is the complete breakdown of my physical structure that is very distressing. Spine hips and neck especially, sweating and anxiety but also from being a runner and weights etc I have fallen into a desk based potato. Shocking in the extreme. Yoga became impossible and running is currently a pipe dream and weights, well lifting is out. It is disabling.
Fixaflash for guidance, info. I use Ona's. No scripts.
When I went through menopause I was taken off HRT because the study had just come out which linked HRT with complications. It was absolute hell for months and I remember telling my doctor that this would be proved to be a mistake. Twenty years later they have discovered it was a mistake. It was horrible and all they offered me was antidepressants which I refused to take.
Thank you for this. What you have done is very important. I actually think that the universities and medical boards should apologising. Approx 50% of the population go through peri and menopause that can have a significant effect on overall health. And yet there is absolutely minimal education and training about it. It’s mind boggling to think that this is the way it is.
I believe that there will be a new/ improved standard of care for peri/menopausal women in the future. This is a tiny step forward in the direction of change.
Can't happen soon enough 🤞
I can't take hormones due to 2 genetic factors for blood clots. I'm on a carnivore diet and feel great at 55.
Total carnivore, or do you throw non-angry vegetables?
You might be okay for a transdermal patch.
You can use the patch or cream

I could not write songs anamore - could nok think that way at all, I did not care about the beauty of sunset, I did not care about listen to musik - I did NOT CARE ABOUT LIFE anymore. The risks are greater not taking hrt than taking it. The study you’re referring to has been shown to be wrong long ago. The problem is everyone keeps repeating what they have heard and not gone and done the homework. And the most guilty are physicians!
You are SO RIGHT! Thank you for pointing this out! That study was absolute garbage - and yet, Drs. base their advice on it and cause great harm to women. Drs NEED to stay up to date and not keep harkening back to faulty "studies"
Im sorry, I got a little lost in your wording... is HRT good to take or no?
@@chrissycakes8827 DO the HRT - it is NOT harmful and as mt9727 said, it was a terribly flawed study - but Drs. keep deferring to it - do your own homework. I'm 69 yrs old now and my Dr. and I have worked together to balance my hormones. I use both HRT and vaginal Estradiol. It has made a world of difference (positively) in how I feel in every way. If you decide you want to and your Dr. says No, seek out a new dr.
So you're saying that the body is doing something wrong with menopause and we need to take hormones to "correct" it? How convenient for the pharmaceutical industry when millions of women pay money to correct a natural process.
Took patch . It was horrible. Vomiting headache , agitated, my hot flashes actually increased dramatically. 24 hours on the patch . Fake estrogen and progesterone. My body rebelled.
At age 70 I went on HRT after having a total hysterectomy at age 50. I can say without hesitation, it’s helped not only my skin, sleep and libido, I’ve rejuvenated growth of pubic hair (TMI…sorry) and I definitely feel better. After my hysterectomy it was the era of don’t use hormones, they will encourage cancer. I’m pretty sure it was insulin issues that prompted the need for the hysterectomy! Yay for you!!! Great Dr!!
You needed progesterone to protect uterus. I take vitex chaste berry.
Argh thxs! Honestly i feel the whole medical system has just ignored what we go through without addressing this.
I agree. I think we have to Keep learning and find out what to do and who to "see" health-wise.
Thankfully my ob gyn is my age, and she helped me so much through hrt. We started with the minimum estrogen and boosted in tiny increments until I started feeling better, sleeping better, fog cleared, etc. Now we're watching for bone density. Estrogen plays a huge role in the body. I had zero after menopause. I feel great now.
I almost lost my job due to cognitive decline and sleep deprivation rapidly. I had an instinct my hormones something is very wrong . My pcp and the hormone specialist who was a women would not help me . I found a hormone specialist outside the state and paid out of pocket for my tests . Thank god I did . This doctor said she hasn’t seen hormone tests this bad in20 years . Bio hormones saved me . I don’t think it’s everything but I am ready to go back to work and sleep is at least 70 % better if I had gotten blood work done by my pcp he would of said your normal . It’s just menopause , no need to worry about all women go through it. And that is the medical and insurance problem. I pay out of pocket for hormones and tests so that I get the best care. I appreciate the apology but I’d like it from my doctors
Sex drive - I don't give a hoot about sex drive!! Perimenopause was a miserable experience. Hot flashes that left me looking like a wet t-shirt contestant and prevented me sleeping, so every step of every day was taken through constant crushing exhaustion. Chronic migraine so severe I had to drop out of the workforce. Emotional lability and helpless sobbing for no discernible cause. Weight swings of 10lb in a week, up or down, again with no discernible cause. Brain fog that made me incapable of reading because I'd see the words but they had as much meaning as cuneiform. The shattering pain of the migraine attacks sent me to the hospital for emergency shots, even for intravenous coritcosteroids to reduce the swelling of my brain. No male doctor who's never had a 10-day migraine should ever be allowed to treat a perimenopausal woman. I'm talking about explosive vomiting, diarrhoea, inability to bear any light at all, and pain, pain, pain.
The only thing that worked for me is bio-identical estradiol. As I'd had a hysterectomy and there's no history of breast cancer in my family, it was a low-risk strategy. And it was magical. I went within a month from constant migraine, sobbing, brain fog, and exhaustion, to being able to function almost normally. Another month and I enrolled in school to pursue my longtime dream of being an archaeologist.
I took estradiol for five years, and then tapered it off over a year.
It would have been unbearable to have a sex drive while I was so miserably ill. Let's be honest: the sex drive thing is not for the woman's benefit - it's to keep her performing for the sake of her partner.
Yes
Some women like sex and want to have it for themselves not just to please their partner.
I hear you, but I beg to differ. Sexual function for women makes her feel desirable and it shows in her relationship and attitude towards herself and to partner.
Can’t speak for everyone, that’s just your perception. I’m single and miss my drive regardless of horrible symptoms
Your story sounds like mine. How's it going on estradiol after endometriosis? I've not been on it for 3 years because every month when my daughter got her period, I'd cramp up real bad in my lower pelvis. Felt like endometriosis all over again even though I've had a hysterectomy. I'm worried that if I take any estrogen, the endometriosis will come back.
Glory Hallelujah! A doctor actually acknowledging that female hormones affect much, much more than sexual and reproductive function. The difference to the brain alone in my experience is immense. Let's face it, we'll just keep learning and learning. We'll never know it all. My suspicion is that messing with kids' brain function through use of hormones, pesticides, shellac, etc. In our food supply may be a part of what sets them up for drug addiction, along with emotional environment of course. Thank you! It encourages me to just hear the words being said.
Dr. Cywes, I cannot tell you how much it means to hear a male doctor say what you just did. Every doctor I have seen for my auto-immune (PMR and Hashimotos) problems has dismissed me as being a "hypochondriac", or delusional and put me on steroids, and anti-depressants, or wanted to put me on opiates to control the symptoms and pain. It was only after my daughter directed me to Judy Cho, who led me to YOU, Dr. Ken Berry and Dr. Anthony Chaffee that I finally started getting help - simply by watching and by listening to you 3 and Judy. I have never met any of you but all 4 of you have had a PROFOUND effect on my life for the better. I am 8 months into carnivore... struggling to stay on track sometimes, but doing the best I can. ... still dealing with painful joints and myscles from the PMR but have lost some weight (started at 212lbs, now stuck at 175lbs) which I think does help relieve pressure on my knees and back. Feet still very painful too. But so many other issues pretry much gone... IBS, Gerd, etc. Whether you are male or female, auto-immune is no fun, but for women it can be super difficult when coupled with menopause (as mine is). No doc I have gone to for help has any "blanking" clue so hearing you admit you have more to learn is refreshing. Thank you for what you do.
Are you gluten free and eating a couple Brazil nuts for selenium every day to put Hashimotos into remission?

@@tbear1111 If she is on the carnivore diet then she is not eating gluten. It's a super low carb diet. I just started eating a couple brazil nuts a day again for the selenium. 3 nuts only has 1.8 grams of carbs so it's doable. Now I can't decide if I want to go back to my terrible doctors to get some low dose Bhrt because I wonder if the carnivore diet will heal this problem if I just continue it for a while longer.

I’ve been on Bio-identical estrogen/testosterone cream and progesterone (150mg) since a few months into menopause at 49. I’m now 54. It made a huge difference instantly - no more brain fog, sleep beautifully, no hot flashes, no weepiness or mood swings, tons of energy. I’ve never felt better. A functional doctor prescribed these hormones after thorough blood tests and my Gynae is fully supportive. I’m definitely going to stay on this road, especially when I see how many of my friends are battling through menopause feeling exhausted and insane at times.
@kcventures720 I’m sorry that it didn’t work for you and that you were gaslighted. Our bodies are so complex. Hope you find some solutions so that you can have quality of life.
Can I ask if that was on prescription or you just bought it? Is it one cream with all three hormones? What is the name please? I also take bioidentical progesterone and a wild yam capsule for oestrogen. Both help a lot but am wondering if I need something with testosterone too.
@@Suzitao the estrogen and testosterone is combined in a cream which I rub on in the mornings. The progesterone is in a capsule which I take at night. I think it helps with sleep. Oh my gosh, going into immediate menopause without any hormones? Wow.. some women would commit S. Sounds like you are better now because you are older and your hormones have calmed down.
@@RationalNon-conformist thank you. It was over 25 years ago so I don't remember every nuance but I really cannot remember ever truly suffering from horrible hot flashes or intense mood swings afterward. It helps to understand that my lifelong experiences with menstruation, cycles, infertility, etc. were horrible. I truly suffered with excessive bleeding, unending pain and cramping, bloating, etc. in addition to recurring fibroids. I was a mess. Now this started 50+ years ago so there weren't many options available. So when it got to be too unbearable in my 40s with no end in sight I decided to have a hysterectomy. I was unsure about removing my ovaries but my mom, who had suffered herself, advised me to get it all out and be done with it. Thank God I listened to her because not two weeks after at my followup appt my gyno who had been my Dr since I was 18 informed me that the pathologist who examined the biopsies had discovered uterine cancer. Three separate biopsies confirmed it. If I had not had it all removed back I would have gone to the OR. I felt so good after I healed that I felt free for the first time in my life. Any discomfort, if I had felt it, would have been miniscule to what my life had been before. I'll never forget what the nurse (who also knew me) said as they wheeled me into the OR. She said, "honey, we're gonna make you a liberated woman!" LOL how right she was.
I had a horrible time finding a doctor who was knowledgeable about bHRT and perimenopause. I had a partial hysterectomy so I still have my ovaries, but no cervix or uterus. Due to not having a cervix or womb I initially was not prescribed progesterone, only estrogen. My cholesterol shot up almost 100 points in barely two months with no diet changes. I convinced my doc to put me on progesterone and within a couple months not only did I feel SO much better but my cholesterol dropped back down. This idea that progesterone should only be given because it prevents cervical cancer is absolutely absurd. It has tremendous value for every perimenopausal/menopausal woman.
Good comment!
I'm in the same situation with the partial hysterectomy and have only been prescribed estrogen. While slightly better, I still feel like crap and have many symptoms/issues.
I had a hysterectomy at age 31. My uterus and cervix were removed, but my ovaries were left. I struggled with living and feeling “normal”…..my weight shot up, my energy levels kept decreasing. I was a mom of very active five children, and it was tough. I am now 46, and recently went to a doctor for menopausal symptoms. No libido, weight gain, hair loss, tinnitus, dry eyes…..the list goes on. He told me that my hair loss had to be genetic, was very confused at my ear pain and tinnitus, and said the libido problem was basically “psychological”. In my head. I went home and told my husband I’m not going back to that nut of a doctor. I’ve been doing my own research and have been amazed at how many of the symptoms I’ve suffered for YEARS are hormonal-related!! I was not prescribed any hormones after my hysterectomy. I didn’t have care as my doc left the state soon after my surgery. I am learning that I have suffered for A VERY LONG TIME. I will be making an appointment soon with a female doctor listed on the NAMS site in my area. I so hope I can find someone who cares, because my energy level and other symptoms are just getting worse.😢
Thankyou! I got sick and was hospitalized and went through a hysterectomy. Given Premarin to alleviate heat waves and feeling miserable. It works. After awhile down through the years and different doctors a doctor who was so freaked out about cancer lowered the dose by 1/2! All the symptoms and misery came back so I had to change doctors to get the dose adjusted back. I eat Ketovore and no breast cancer in family.and
simply as a woman needed the HRT
Your apology is so welcome
Premarin is pregnant female horse urine. Estradiol is what your body makes naturally not horse urine. Please consider using Estradiol vs a foreign chemical that is stored in your fats cells because the body doesn't recognize it. Knowledge is the best gift to yourself.
I had horrendous perimenopausal symptoms. Cutting out all grains and legumes and greatly increasing my protein and fat intake from animal sources has stabilised everything. I feel like my old self and am very grateful to have found an easy fix.
When I was a year into menopause I was still producing from my ovaries. In 3 months time though, my estrogen dropped off completely. I had no idea but I became depressed, hating everyone and my life in general. I knew something was wrong. When I saw my hormone doc, she said ‘well no wonder, you aren’t producing anymore’ and at that point went on low dose estradiol and progesterone. My mood and ability to cope emotionally improved dramatically in 3 days time. I am super grateful and now understand the impact of hormones on OVERALL well being! Thank you Dr. Cywes for your frank and direct, candid conversational style. I adore you!😊
You mention low doses of estrogen and progesterone. What’s does that mean?
Why not restore hormones to youthful levels? Why keep them at menopausal levels? If we had these hormones coursing through our bloodstream in our healthiest years why would they suddenly be poison and need to be divied out conservatively?
@@jamiehoward6906-Because the ovaries not only produce the hormones, they control the distribution and dosage of them. When women are young, they naturally have wildly fluctuating hormone levels. This can’t replicated. The best you can strive for after ovaries shut down is a base line level of hormones that bolster cellular function, which arguably is more important than looking youthful and being fertile.
My doc says it's just about optimizing our hormones. Which to me means the dosage will be different for everyone. A ketogenic diet can help with hormone production. I personally had to lower my dose of estradiol when I went keto. Fat heals. 😊
I don’t understand why I’m not feeling bad. I’m not on anything and I’m not feeling bad. I’m 57, had all but one ovary removed and have been post menopausal since 2018. I have no hormones left. None! But I feel fine. Maybe a little low energy but my mind is sharp, my moods are good, I my muscles are responding to exercise and I’m feeling stronger. I’m afraid to feel bad if I went on hrt. Thanks, doc! It’s always baffled me that broad hormone panels are not routine. I wished that I could go get one on the days I woke up and felt on top of the world and then again on regular days when I felt like meh/crap. I’m one of those who was told it was psychological. Turns out I was pre-diabetic with pros and insulin resistance for over a decade. Likely 2.

I stayed away from hormones due to cancer and blood clot scare. I have been fatigued all my life.
Please look at the new studies coming out. The study they did 20 years ago that deterred many women from taking it specifically for those scares was deeply flawed. I bought into it as well until I did some research as I have been struggling with symptoms for the past year and a half. I started HRT this past Saturday and am already starting to feel better.

I was pre-diabetic but my last fasting insulin was 1.6 and fasting glucose was 69. I would definitely recommend all women having this discussion with a doctor.
Which doctor do you recommend
If you don't mind me asking are you on bioidentical progesterone or synthetic? I just found out my progesterone and testosterone levels are next to nothing. I've been suffering from chronic insomnia and general malaise for the past 6-7 yrs. I read from a neurologist that low progesterone can cause insmonia. I am not on HRT yet and doing my research. But I'm really hoping that normalizing my hormone levels will help.

@@MEF7 I went to a local doctor that is more holistic focused. Lots of doctors are afraid to give women testosterone even though it’s naturally more abundant in women’s bodies than estrogen is. Thats great! I hope its as smooth for me, but am prepared that it very well may not be.
You’re lucky
When I hit menopause, at 51 I was sooo exhausted and my joints were screaming for relief, I couldn't sleep more than a couple hours a night. I am now on an estrogen patch and it's like night and day. I now have the energy to exercise and I can sleep again. Thank God many doctors are seeing this in the research and are willing to make that change. Thank You for noticing and saying something about it. ❤️
Using transdermal cream, patch or spray , there is NO risk for blood clot.
Really? Can you point me in the direction of research data that shows that to be accurate, please?
It's not zero risk, but it cuts the already pretty low risk of blood clots in half. If taking orally, there's like a 2 in 1,000 risk of a blood clot, and with the patch it's only 1 in 1,000 risk.
Incorrect - the patch has the same risk

Me too. Stopped the estrogen depletion meds, tried every one of them. Rather take the risk of recurrence than the way the medication made me feel. We are in a different bucket because we’re not able to take HRT. Breast Cancer is a journey most definitely. Just wanted to say “Hello” and I 100% understand you!
Agree with you both . Same here , I wouldn't take Tamoxifen . I've a less than 2% chance of recurrence but because of the Bc Hrt is not ideal for me . Which is a bummer 😕
You need progesterone and from a transdermal creme! Progesterone not progesterin (the synthetic crap). It actually reduces Breast Cancer. Dr Lee has a book about it.
There's a book written by Dr.Avrum Bluming called "Estrogen Matters" it's a great resource for women, in particular breast cancer survivors. His wife is a breast cancer survivor & he cites science & studies to support throughout the book. It's very informative 👍
Same boat but a fairly high chance of recurrence so I'm staying on it but have had many side effects. My body feels like it's been destroyed but the line in the sand would have been depression and brain fog and I can deal with those through natural supplements. It's just a bit difficult when friends complain of menopause symptoms and I live with no estrogen somehow.
I've had a low sex drive my whole life and I'm in my 60s now the one thing I need to get rid of is the damn hot flashes and night sweats good Lord Almighty make them go away I have been out of menopause for 12 years and they're still going
Increase fibre (lightly cooked cabbage, 🥬 dark leafy greens, kales, raw carrots and good quality protein from lentils, and reduce carbs.
Stop eating after sunset.
Fibre... Raw Carrots and lightly cooked cabbage helps.
B12...it's probably a stressed thyroid
You should look into pellet therapy. If you can find someone who uses the SottoPelle way, I would highly recommend. Look them up and read testimonials. A woman STARTED using pellets in her 80s! Said it was life changing. Felt like she did in her 30s! I strongly believe it this method.
On April 9, 2024 a major study was published in the Journal of the North American Menopause Society. Following 10 million women, the study revealed numerous major health benefits to women aged 65 and over. There was basically no downside to using bioidentical estradiol and progesterone, contradicting what was suggested by the women's heath initiative study published in 2002.
An entire generation of doctors were brainwashed (shame on them for letting it happen) into thinking prescribing hrt was equivalent to giving poison, when in fact it is life saving medicine for human females who now live far longer than nature originally anticipated, because of better hygiene, better nutrition, and of course medical advances.
Wonderful video, thanks Dr. Cywes.
Dr Ben Bikman in his video with Rona explains that in women going through menopause fat tissues become endocrine hormones producer, it produces estrogen. Maybe that's why fatter women are beautiful and happier? 😊❤
That's my story and I'm sticking to it 😂😂
Peripheral estrogen production. In men too.FnH
I am 61. I had thought menopause was a breeze as I didn’t have much in the way of hot flashes and night sweats. However memory, digestion, joints, etc are all just a mess. I have my very first HRT Rx waiting at the pharmacy for me to pick up. Wish me luck!
I had 2 frozen shoulders after menopause.... "adhesive capsulitis."
It was simply debilitating. At the time, Google indicated the condition was more common in women but was poorly understood.
Amazingly i got Real relief thanks to Fascia therapist, it was Amazing...
I had it a few months after my hysteroctomy, at 49. it was really painful and debilitating. fortunately i met a good rehabilitation doctor by my physiotherapists who said that it is mostly connected with hormones (most of her frozen shoulder patients were women in theirs fifties). because they left me one ovary, i went to doctor for check up - and really, the ovary did not function at all. i did not want to start straight away hrt (after a few surgeries and consequent high medication), so i opted for taking some mix of isoflavones - for example solgars botanic female complex - and it made big difference for me, especially when it came to pain. i recovered.... but i wonder how many women are struggling with it without anybody telling them that it might be connected with their hormones....
I had two frozen shoulders after menopauze as well.
@@littlesoul8908 I know what you mean. It lasts so long. PT is painful and one is left wondering if it will ever resolve. I wondered if I would ever sleep again. Now I wonder if women get better treatment for the condition.
I did too, I stopped all calcium including dairy because of the study by John Hopkins uni that calcium gives women heart disease. I take magnesium glycinate now, several times a day, the shoulder pain has stopped. I am afraid to take calcium again so not sure what is going to happen now. So confusing..
I’m on a low dose of Bioidentical hormone replacement therapy and I feel, on a cellular level, more alive and energetic. Mine is prescribed by my Naturopath, who also went to med school, through a compounding pharmacy. I didn’t do it for sexual reasons to be honest, but I did get my sex drive back and now my hair is growing again, and I can handle foods like sugar and gluten with more ease.
I was on super strict carnivore for 15 months , I lost my 6kg of body fat , but after 15 months even that I was eating the same,, I started to gain weight in body fat. Now year later I'm 10 kg up , and I cant lose anything . I stared to have some veg , but still weight is it moving. Did I messed up my hormones? I'm 47 ,never reply had a problem with to much weight. I just wanted to toned my body .
You probably didn't mess up your hormones just in peri-menapause. You can start HRT now, see dr mary Claire Havers videos
I suggest getting rid of all unnecessary stress anyway you can and relax because stress at this age is a killer to you . I’ve had stress but at 58 it’s so different. It’s exhausting and seems to kill all my motivation .
Thank you, 58 and hrt changed my life.
glad HRT changed your life..can you let me know what dose you are on and if its cream or patches? Im on everol patches 75 but Im feeling off balance and dizzy most days? Ive been on them more than a year and feel much better apart from the dizziness. Thanks
@@SharonOBrienMusic patch 150 twice a week, progesterone time release 150 and compounded testosterone. I will be 58 in May.
Me too. I can't survive without some estrogen.
From my understanding a certain level of estrogen needs to be achieved to prevent osteoporosis, dementia/alzheimer's and heart disease and that is not the "lowest dosage". Also the pellets are not good. I started my journey of HRT on them and my testosterone ended up through the roof because they keep adding it each time to give me that "rush" of feeling strong and fabulous so I would keep coming back for more. However over time, of course, all that testosterone began to have a negative effect. Though I do not want to be testosterone dominant, it is I feel necessary for women. It helps in building lean muscle, easing aches and pain as we age and also helps with libido as well amongst other things. The most difficult situation that I've had to deal with during this menopausal process though is finding a competent doctor. Even one who claimed to be a menopausal specialist has now made me estrogen dominant with levels of 2100 when it's supposed to be at 214 tops. My current dr is helping in correcting it. Although I'm thankful for having the gift of growing older because many have been denied that, this has been the most difficult chapter of my life. Not only do I feel horrible, like my body is no longer mine, I've gained 30 lbs to add to the torture Thank you for your apology, at least that's a start. With respect, you have a ways to go however please keep going.
Thank you for sharing your experience so openly with women all over the world 🙏.
Greetings from Germany 🇩🇪 (54-y-o teacher struggling through her most difficult phase in life 💪 and just got on bHRT 6 months ago... so, so, so much better!) 🙋🏻♀️
Story of my life…. Dr. With specialism A says do this. Dr. With specialism B says Don’t. My experience is different from A and B. No one cares. They don’t tune their orchestra. I can write a book about that. Doctors apply what they learned at university. Not listening to patients’s experience and thinking it over.
Another one of just today. Now going through PT exercises for sciatica. Same story. Muscles get better and stronger with stretches but the pain stays. No change whatsoever. Still can’t walk 100m. Yes I told PT about weight related effects per exercise. Example : Exercises : dead bug, especially, not adapted to the weight of my leg vs someone else’s even though it’s based on exactly that. It makes me Soo Angry ! Every single time I start doing that particular one, my head is back to gym classes 50 years ago. Angry the entire day and outside of that, never angry.
It’s So Rare to hear a doctor admit they learned something ! There’s hope !
They don't update what they learnt by reading journals and papers with new research.
In my country, a male doctor said we are medicalizing menopause.
Women have more testosterone than they do estrogen in their body. Being hesitant to prescribe testosterone but not estrogen or progesterone shows a lack of understanding. Blood Testing hormones gives you a snap shot of the moment of testing not the average for the woman so should not be used exclusively, actually blood testing should carry considerably less weight than tracking symptoms A good person to talk to about this is Karen Martel she has a podcast called the hormone solution.
HRT has helped me with anxiety, depression, sleep and memory issues. I was completely changed after being given the HRT prescription. I am in the process of getting rid of the 5 prescriptions for anxiety and depression. I am so glad I talked to my GYN about everything, not just GYN health. Post menopause.
Just found out my progesterone and estradiol are very low. Got compounded bio identical hormones and start them tonight. I am so very hopeful they will help regulate my super high blood sugars and insulin resistance.
After a total thyroidectomy & hysterectomy - I suffered from severe night sweats, hot flashes, low libido & low energy. My endocrinologist prescribed Estradiol patches and it changed my life for the better. So happy to have found a Dr. that listened and didn't brush off my symptoms as just female problems to deal with. So many women are unaware of Estradiol.
What is the side effects of estradiol? Are there cancer warnings blood clot warnings
@@KCCAT5 Estrsdiol is what your body naturally makes vs. Premiran (pregnant female horse urine) and Estriol is made during pregnancy and causes you to gain weight to support growing a baby. Dr. Mary-Claire Haver has numerous videos on different types of estrogen if you are interested.

I have been anti doctor (traditionally trained) for some time… the arrogance and the flippancy we get from the male docs is insane, but a lot of female gynos are also dismissive. I will pay functional medicine docs all day long…. they go deep and you get a full picture of your health. If you are not trained in hormone therapy or Endocrinology…. you have not enough information.
I had to learn about my inability to make enough progesterone through Suzanne Somers book years ago. I had one gyn male doc in an exam call me crazy for trusting bio-identicle plant hormones to replace my lack of progesterone. I got up and told him he has no idea what my life has been like from puberty on up and how bad life had been. Bio-identicles are not dangerous like the Prem word.. I got up, got dressed and walked out. This was about 20+ years ago. Women I spoke to back then had no idea what progesterone is or does. Thank you.
I too had fights with many doctors! I could not get the help I needed and it caused me to distrust doctors.
@@psnap1111I haven't been going to a Dr. for a long time.
Good for you - the pharma industry driven medical industry keeps focusing on estrogen. I'm also convinced that it is the progesterone loss and/or the imbalance of estrogen/progesterone that is the problem.
I’ve been on HRT ( patch ) for almost 3 years. I had to tell my dr what script I wanted . My dr never volunteered any hormone treatment or education about the long term health benefits of preventing bone , heart and cognitive disease
So good your doc just wrote you the script though 👍🏻 My doc gave me a book on sexuality(for 18-22 year olds!) and told me to start lifting weights. Im going to try just telling her what I want. Thanks.
Tell doctors what you want progesterone and estrogen to prevent cancer and bone loss because you still have your uterus.
I tried low estrogen patches with progesterone pills at bedtime for 4 months 9 years ago. I am now 61 and I was already in menopause at that time. I had headaches from progesterone pills and I started bleeding off and on heavy do I quit. My brain fog is helped with caffeine and ketones. I have no labito either for over 10 years.
See if you can find an anti-aging doctor with experience prescribing HRT in ways that suit your body’s needs.
I’m 73 and have been on some form of HRT since my late 40’s ( had regular periods until age 52). In those days it was premarin and I realized that I needed progesterone but the doctor from that era did not address that issue.
Fast forward to 2006 when we began with an anti-aging doctor who was the first one in Chicago. He is a real specialist.
I’m not going into a lot of detail, but I do have a testosterone pellet inserted 3 times a year-100 units-less than I took two years ago. Without it very little libido. It definitely also helps with my state of mind, and helps me build lean muscle.
I take a separate progesterone pill, a compounded transvaginal cream, and an exterior topical estradiole cream to prevent vaginal/perineal atrophy (I suffer from the autoimmune condition lichen sclerosus, which gets treated with PRP injections twice a year for maintenance).
I would like to experience some fat loss, but I had a HORRIFIC experience with semaglutide and am hence very wary of any diet drugs. I work out three times a week with both weights and cardio, and have started using the dry sauna. At my age and with back/pelvic pain, HIIT is just not for me. Repeated DXA scans have shown increased muscle and decreased fat, but the scale barely budges. Waist measurement down 2” in 6 months on low-carb.
You have to find the right specialist and work with him/her, hopefully increasing trust over time. I hope to continue with HRT lifelong.
@@margomoore4527 increase fibre and good quality protein from lentils and fish. Then pick up weight lifting. The fat will melt away. As you get fitter pick up heavier weights.
