I LOVED turning 40. It felt like I had finally learned enough to really put my foot down and accelerate into success, full speed. 6 years later, I've had professional achievements, quit drinking, eat better and am excited about the next 20+ years as I move through phases. Great video. I appreciated all the lessons.
Thank you for sharing this. I turned 40 today. My wife got sick with mold illness and it has taken our life on an interesting and challenging journey. I cried listening to this. I have hope for today and the tomorrows.
Health is number 1. I had to learn how to be alone at the age of 52 after divorce. I didn’t like it at first, but I’ve learned how to,and yes, it’s really nice. I think people like to be liked, but who cares if they like you or not.
The parent-child relationship caught me off guard after I hit my mid-40’s. I thought I would always be the child, but as my parents grow older, I’m becoming their caretaker.
@@studleyjb3172 you're right, but in my experience, it's very shocking when your parent becomes so dependent when you're accustomed to them being super independent.

What a timely video. I just turned 40 this year and came to many of the same conclusions. I had the privilege to meet with you last week for your market research interview and am glad to see I was already on the road to realizing many of these things myself. Keep doing what you do, incredibly inspiring and I hope to one day find myself helping others in ways you are already. I truly suddenly feel wiser hitting 40 for all the things you said. Kids growing older, parents getting older, and just realizing I need to live for now. Thanks as always
I’m now 51, so have even more years on the clock. A lot of this is gold. Especially that your health is all there is, childhood is short (too short for everyone) and that curiosity is a superpower. The thing I would add is always to be suspicious of people who are certain of anything. Even if you agree with them. Especially if you agree with them. Nothing complex has clear cut right and wrong answers. Most people who are certain have chosen not to examine their opinions in depth or lack the intelligence to do so. Either way you can’t trust them.
Beautifully put Tae. I’m thankful to have learned most of this in my early 30s. Nothing changes your life for the better than the ability to be comfortable with yourself and say no to anyone or anything that disrupts your peace. And lastly reading books is the best thing you can do for yourself at any age.
I randomly come across this. I am terrifying turning 40 next year. The definition on success and health struck me. That line on “money is not wealth” is good. This video comforts me somehow. Thanks for this.
Old age is a gift, millions do not get.For in all the 40 years...lies so many experiences, the good, the bad and the ugly. And you can rewrite everything that happened in the past.New day,new you.Count those blessings...
Hola Tae! I’m turning 41 in a few days and your video couldn’t have come at a better time! I found myself already experiencing a lot of the things/realizations you mention. Cheers to 40’s & thank you for the helpful and well done content!
Turning 39 at the end of the month! I am very much looking forward to my 40s, after having learned many of those lessons in your video the hard way over my 30s. Great video :)
Sorry for bumping…..but Are you interested on how to really achieve financial freedom I’m just saying because I remember couple summers back, after my lengthy divorce, I needed a good boost to help my business stay afloat, hence I researched for license advisors and came across someone of due diligence she helped a lot to grow my reserve notwithstanding inflation, from $275k to approx $850k So you could try less
Instant sub for me. This is a great video as I turned 40 in June and I feel like I am hungry then ever when it comes to learning new things. I currently work in design software in the mechanical field for the oil and gas industry, but I am also trying to learn new software so I can pursue a future in the product design field. I have more desire to grow and learn now than I did in my 20s and 30s, but I also believe I feel that way because I squandered my youth.
Hey Mr Kim this is the best video I have come across in a really long time, thank you so much for taking the time to make it, I am a Mexican in my 40’s living in Chicgo for the last 20 years and I am confused about life but your video has open a new window of hope for me. Muchas muchas gracias 🙏 ❤

Wow great points. Another important point is to remember to have fun and let go from time to time, be foolish with your young kids, and go out to keep your spirit in youth. It helps with creativity, curiosity and to adventurous. BTW taking mental breaks also helps keeping it harder for longer for most people if they can stay in the right track
Another great video Tae!!! Also recently turning 40 what I realized or would recommend to my younger self 1. Control your thoughts. If you think low value thoughts you will never achieve. The Stoics say only focus on in life on what you can control. 2. Be healthy- Eat well and exercise. Stay away from unhealthy foods, alcohol and drugs. 3. Take naps and sleep seriously. Have a good sleep routine to ensure a deep sleep. 4. Real estate- it is very hard to become financially secure with out owning real estate. 5. Love your parents. Overlook their past mistakes and forget your grudges to deeply love them. 6. Be a highly respectful, kind and polite person. 7. Plan out your days the night before and review each day. Your can even gamify your activities each day to make ensure you engage in productive activities. 8. Use your time well. Try to spend each minute of the day on a high value activity. Stay away from TV, video games, watching sports, social media and other major time waste. 9. Listen, but not watch, UA-cam videos on all topic as much as possible each day. The amount of time a person spends in transition and in light work activities each day is tremendous. 10. Spend your time with people who value you and doing activities you will succeed in There are some people who will never respect you. Avoid them. 11. Get a dog. They will love you unconditionally. 12. Be spiritual and follow some religion. 13. Strive to have your own business and work very hard.
I’ve been renting since 18 and just turned 34. This past year my NW crossed $1M and I don’t think a home is the only way. I’ve consistently saved, invested and my cash interest is covering my rent now. I travel where I want and when I want; however, a house might be the best option for the average person.
Im in my mid 30s, cant thank you so much for putting this together. I always have to ask others that they feel at their age of 40s, 45s, 50s, what they regret the most, what they should have done. This just sums up everything all together. So i cant thank you more enough for this video alone.
I began my investment journey at the age of 38, primarily through hard work and dedication. Now at the age of 42, I am thrilled to share that my passive income exceeded $100k in a single month for the first time. This success reinforces the importance of the advice mentioned earlier. It is not about achieving quick wealth, but rather ensuring long-term financial prosperity
Investors should exercise caution with their exposure and exercise caution when considering new investments, particularly during periods of inflation. It is advisable to seek guidance from a professional or trusted advisor in order to navigate this recession and achieve potential high yields.
I totally agree; I am 56 years old, recently retired, with approximately $1.2 million in external retirement funds. I am debt free and have very little money in retirement funds compared to the total value of my portfolio over the past three years. To be honest, I didn't do all this alone, but with the help of a financial advisor. Having one is currently the best way to trade in the stock market, especially for people nearing retirement.
@@mikegarvey17I’ve actually been looking into advisors lately, the news I’ve been seeing in the market hasn’t been so encouraging. who’s the person guiding you?
Wow! He really broke this down. I'll be 40 this year and I remember when I was 35 and anxious about "getting older." Taking good care of yourself, learning about yourself and treating others respectfully, while gaining wisdom is very satisfying. So don't worry about that 40 number.
Tae's channel keeps on giving. While I started coming here for financial advice, I noticed over time that there are other life areas, where I am not living up to the potential and can be a significantly better version for me and my surroundings.
Anyone worrying about turning 40…..don’t. If you’re doing the right things, and living well things only get better. I know young people view me as old, but I don’t feel any different than I did at 18. My life is better by every metric though. I own a paid-for home, I have a good paying job, I’m wiser, all the things I wanted but couldn’t have at that age are obtainable now, and probably most importantly I have a loving significant other. Take care of your health and don’t try to live beyond your means in your younger years and you’ll find it gets better as you get older.
Just landed on this video (I don't know you, never heard of you), I'm 38. I'm making good progress in life. I really like your list things you realized. I can relate. With your level of presumed) personal success, I feel confirmed in my path. Best of luck with building your channel and enjoying life (family, business, etc).
I agree with everything, except your point about there being no good debt. My student loans led to a great career in statistics, a spouse who is much smarter than I am who would not have even considered dating me without my education, and great life. They were akin to growing pains after exercise, a necessary short-term hindrance that led to long-term success. The key with debt is to ensure the expected value of what you are buying with borrowed money is high enough to compensate. Not all college majors have the same expected value, so you need to be careful with how much you borrow, and might want to supplement the loans with additional funding to make it worth it. Debt, just like money itself, can be a useful tool to get you where you need to go.
Exactly, and the creator didn't mark it with a heart so apparently, he still doesn't understand it. With a well crafted strategy, debt can be used to invest in property. To ignore this at 40 is surprising, but never too late to rectify.
@@HermanLucas-yc7tpOf course. The point is that education brings opportunities in your life that are not directly related to salary. Without education I would have never got my foot in the door. If you want a person who is high-value to be interested in you, you must make yourself into someone a high-value person would be interested in.
Amazing video sir 👏 I'm very inspired, thank you for your kind wisdom. I'm about to turn 25 and I feel very grateful and blessed to be where I am in my life.
Hey bubba I’ve been watching your videos for a long time now. And have benefited greatly. This was definitely one of my favorite videos you’ve done. 👍🏼
As a 40 year old who also embraced a journey on UA-cam I can relate. So very good points raised. One I will add is learning to forgive yourself. You can always push yourself, but you may not always be able to achieve what you want or your body might not be able to do what you want it to. If you feel tired sleep, if you need a break, take one, but if you take too many question yourself, keep yourself at your optimum. All the best to the 40 year old out there.😂

This is maybe the single most useful video on UA-cam for those having their midlife crises! Thank you Tae.😇
I am 39 and I couldn’t agree more with everything you said! The first 3 are literally my daily bread and butter 😊
Turning 39 at the end of the month! I am very much looking forward to my 40s, after having learned many of those lessons in your video the hard way over my 30s. Great video :)
I'm 32 and I resonated with a lot of these points, but I'm not yet a wife or mother. Thanks for the advice!
Sorry for bumping…..but Are you interested on how to really achieve financial freedom I’m just saying because I remember couple summers back, after my lengthy divorce, I needed a good boost to help my business stay afloat, hence I researched for license advisors and came across someone of due diligence she helped a lot to grow my reserve notwithstanding inflation, from $275k to approx $850k

Same, Sophia.
Thanknyou for those advices, I hit the 30yr mark and was not prepared . I think it better to prepare for my 40s
Thanks man, I'm 35 and will definitely take this advice on board.
Best 15 minutes I ever spent on UA-cam ❤ 40 Pearls in 15 minutes
I turn 39 this year and I've just discovered your channel. You make amazing points, thank you!

Indeed these are signs of maturity. I reached 41 couple of months back. I agree with all your points.
Very good summary. You did a good job making a list that my wife and I agree upon. We have those lists as well.
I’m 31 and your video was inspiring! Thank you
Wow great points.
Another important point is to remember to have fun and let go from time to time, be foolish with your young kids, and go out to keep your spirit in youth. It helps with creativity, curiosity and to adventurous.
BTW taking mental breaks also helps keeping it harder for longer for most people if they can stay in the right track
Thank you, Tae.
This video is exactly what I needed at this point in my life. Thank you for making it.
I wish I had a dad like you. Thank you for this. ❤
Another great video Tae!!! Also recently turning 40 what I realized or would recommend to my younger self
I love all of these. Especially number 11. My goal is to get a dog soon. I have not had one since my childhood.
I’ve been renting since 18 and just turned 34. This past year my NW crossed $1M and I don’t think a home is the only way. I’ve consistently saved, invested and my cash interest is covering my rent now. I travel where I want and when I want; however, a house might be the best option for the average person.
Or a cat :) I have 2 cats and a dog and they are all amazing!
I don’t agree with no. 11, if you have kids, you should focus on your kid.
Im in my mid 30s, cant thank you so much for putting this together. I always have to ask others that they feel at their age of 40s, 45s, 50s, what they regret the most, what they should have done. This just sums up everything all together. So i cant thank you more enough for this video alone.
"Marriage is not 50/50. Each gives 100% and expects nothing in return".
This got me into trouble with someone who wanted to maybe give 50% on a good day
The last one hits hard.
Thank you
Subscribed. This video was an honest reflection. Thank you. ❤
Thank you Tae. Turned 40 recently and decided to be serious with investing. Thats when I came across your channel.
'Izella Annette Anderson' maintains an online presence. Just make a simple search for her name online.
Thanks, I just googled Izella and I'm really impressed with her credentials. I reached out to her since I need all the assistance I can get.
Health really is everything. I’ve lost my health after I turned 40 and I regret taking it for granted my good health all those years.
Wow! He really broke this down. I'll be 40 this year and I remember when I was 35 and anxious about "getting older."
Taking good care of yourself, learning about yourself and treating others respectfully, while gaining wisdom is very satisfying. So don't worry about that 40 number.
I wish why I did not turn 40 early 😊
That intro was really clever, respect to Tae for not overly fluffing his intros and keeping things simple - staying true to his branding.
Health is wealth ❤
I'm 35 y.o and learning the 40's wisdoms from you. Thank you so much :)
Tae's channel keeps on giving. While I started coming here for financial advice, I noticed over time that there are other life areas, where I am not living up to the potential and can be a significantly better version for me and my surroundings.
I’m 37 and I already agree with this… thanks for making this!
The fully paid house at 40 is such goals ❤
Needed to hear this. Thank you. I'm turning 39 in three weeks and absolutely terrified of being 40 😮
Just landed on this video (I don't know you, never heard of you), I'm 38.
Then the question is if you were to lose it all would they still be there with you..
All the best to the 40 year old out there.😂
Happy birthday! :) A very good list of realizations, adding to my motivation playlist.
I'm from Poland, Thank's for Your videos Tae, give me more faith and power to find job and do things even if i do something stupid or someone look at me different. Take care and wish You good health.
This is GOLD! Thanks for sharing.
I’m turning 40 this year so thank you for this video
Thank you, Tae ! I am older than 40 yet the principles you listed still are effective at my age
Practical. Helpful. Holistic. Clear and concise.
Thank you Tae!
Best hair in the game!
As a 42 year old, you are SPOT ON! 100% agree with all of your points!
