You did "Tennessee Whiskey" before. It's how I stumbled across your channel. Dirty! Dirty is the word that comes to mind to describe this. I love seeing others who agree that it's a musical masterpiece! He is unparalleled in what he does. It sounds live, but I saw this quote in Rolling Stone as I was Googling to see if his wife, Morgane, was the one singing the wicked harmony: "Like James Hetfield, Stapleton doubles his own voice, harmonizing with restraint until he wraps up the chorus with a spine-tingling wail." I don't know - I guess the main part could be live with the harmony pre-recorded? But that statement kind of makes it sound to me like it was done in a studio. I'm going to see him live in a couple of weeks and hope he plays this - that will be interesting to hear how different it is. Try, "I Was Wrong," live at Austin City Limits. There's another great guitar solo at the end of that live version that's not on the studio version. It shows off his vocal range and his guitar skills. We can go from there. ;)
If you're looking for more Stapleton, "Sometimes I Cry", "Fire Away", "Say Something" with Justin Timberlake, or his cover of "It's a man's world" are all great choices.
I agree with all of these. Since it's a little harder to find, here is a link to the video for the cover of James Brown's "It's a Mans Mans Mans World" ua-cam.com/video/XtdFsuhQiWU/v-deo.html
Chris is a song writer more than anything, listen to his produced music to hear the song /message , story. His live performances are where he shines as a musician. Been a fan of his for a long time, been to several of his shows. Even better live (in person)
You did Tennessee Whiskey first...ik cause i requested it.... Hehe.. Im a hip hop head just like you but there is something about chris and his voice... Especially his lives.... And that reminds me, if you ever find the live version of the song chris Stapleton is singing then do the live version. 90% of his lives are better than his studio recordings and his voice really comes through... His lives hits so much better then his recorded versions. I actually haven't heard chris version of nothing else matters untill now... I liked it... You wabt something to blow your mind...... *Sometimes i cry* (live version) is definitely a song worth checking out..it blew my mind.. His vocals on this is 🤯
If you like Chris Stapleton check “steeldrivers” which is his band before he went solo. Good song “ blue side of the mountain” It’s more folk but so good
Thank you VERY much for this reaction! For the last few days I've had this song on repeat for hours at a time while working. I wish there was a video of them doing this live, but it's still new at this point. Have an awesome day! Note: I saw some others giving great suggestions for more of his songs, so I will go thumb those up. But everything live by Chris Stapleton is awesome. The studio versions are all meh. I think someone is afraid of losing their job and feels they have to mess with the recording in post and just F it up somehow. If you ever react to his original song Fire Away and its video, I'll be there to support you, but that song and video together kill me every time. Too close to home for me. It's meant to bring awareness to mental disorders, such a bipolar disorder, etc. and of course he nails it. Which is probably why is affects me like it does.
This video.... Fire Away is def all about Mental health and the realities of bipolar. It will break you. Then try Cold, Death Row, Nothing compared to u ( Prince tribute). Really every song is so good.
"Outlaw State of Mind", "Cold", "Midnight Train to Memphis", "Nothing Else Matters" - no, wait, you just listened to that. You could literally pick any song I've ever heard of his and it will be good, if not great. "Maggie's Song" is about our dogs, mine and his, and even I cry like a baby every time I hear it.
Check out Cold (different intrumenation) and I Was Wrong (Austin City Limits live performance). .....a lot to choose from. Nice R&B groove on You Should Probably Leave!
Cliff....Cliff!....CLIFF!!! Hope ur still checking reactions from a year ago. You never got back to Chris. He's a well-known songwriter but both songs you did are covers. Please, please, please: What Are You Listening To; Barely Alive, Cry & Your Man live at The Bing Lounge; I Was Wrong live at Austin City Limits; Fire Away (video to raise awareness of mental health issues); Death Row; Whiskey & You live on Charlie Rose; Treat You Right & Fool Me Again from Sandy Beaches Cruise; Treat You Right & Fool Me Again from Sandy Beaches Cruise; Cold live at the CMAs; If It Hadn't Been For Love & Midnight Train To Memphis with The Steeldrivers band; Worry Be Gone & Them Stems. Thank you, sir!
I love the original better but he did a great job with this. Check out Mans world cover. If you can always watch his live stuff it’s way better than just a plain recording. But live isn’t always available. Starting Over Death Row I was wrong What are you listening to Sometimes I Cry The devil named music Cold

First time hearing this one from Chris but he did a great job. Chris has a lot of good songs. You should check out some more of his music.
Chris Stapleton wrote a lot of songs for others, then his wife convinced him to sing his own songs, he's my legend ❤❤❤

First time I heard this, I was like, "Nice twang influence, more of the metal guitar sound, but then my brain told me to STFU and just listen." I did.
I SAY THANK YOU FOR A GREAT REACTION & THANKS TO CHRIS STAPLETON FOR A FANTASTIC RENDITION OF A GREAT SONG!!!!!!

You're spot on.
You've got to listen to Chris Stapleton and Justin Timberlake singing live Tennessee Whiskey and Drink You Away
Sounds like a session, where everyone is playing at once, with a little added in post-production. A lot of Chris' songs sound like that.
When I saw his concert one thing I noted was how many different guitars he uses.
This defos goes on my play list xx ♥️🐢♥️ xx
One of my favorite covers for one of the most iconic bands a fan since 86
