Thank you for an honest reaction man. When I first heard about this cover I was told "it's even better than the original". Yeahh, No! I like it better now than when I first heard it, but for me it doesn't even come close. Nothing Else Matters is a masterpiece and i don't think anyone could improve upon it. And I fully agree that Stapleton is phenomenal in his own right.
My favorite space in music has always been any combination of where blues, rock, and/or country cross over and blend. I like this version of the song as well or better than the original because it's a good blending of the 2 genres. Well it was always my favorite type of music until I started listening to Nightwish and Epica.
i think it's very hard anyway to watch coversongs of your favourite songs. this song is really world famous and metallicas shoes are damn huge for others to walk in.
Chris Stapleton didn't just decide to cover “Nothing Else Matters;” it was part of "The Metallica Blacklist" tribute album, a project celebrating the album’s 30th anniversary. Metallica invited 53 artists from various genres, letting them choose which song to cover and to perform their interpretations of it. Most of the songs are covered multiple times by different artists. The tribute album was released in October 2021, and all proceeds of the song went to Metallica’s "All Within My Hands Foundation & Outlaw State of Kind."
@@TheWolffAndTheMelody I liked it but not as much as the original. I appreciate your respectful and honest reaction. It is sad that you content providers have to tip-toe around artists, hoping not to offend their fan base. Crazy times when disagreements, especially with regard to taste, can cause such discord. Have a blessed day. I am looking forward to more reactions.
Definitely like the original over this. This song has been covered by 123 artists I count on a website I use. It's covered by artists on UA-cam using instruments such as violin, cello, and harp. Just search the song and cover and you'll see.
Yeah this cover really didn't work for me either. But you gave it a fair shot, and I think that's the important thing. I appreciate that you're willing to be honest about whether or not you like a song. Never lose that integrity. ❤
I'm quite mixed about this. Tried writing a comment about it but couldn't quite figure out what to actually say. Maybe if Metallica hadn't made Nothing Else Matters and this was the original song, it would be easier to accept. Edit: Somehow I got reminded of my favorite game soundtrack of Bastion. A southern rock thing or something?
I had to stop by and see if you were gettin' roasted, looks like not too bad, glad to see!! I'm not a big country fan, at all, but I also hate that country music gets to claim Chris Stapleton. Granted that's where the money was for him as a songwriter and how he made a living in Nashville for years before stepping outside the recording studio, but this man is sooo much more, I believe his soul belongs to old school Blues, but I can live with mixing it with a little country, they do have the same ancestors in Bluegrass. Anyway, with all that said, I have to agree with you on this, I don't think it was offensively bad, I've heard way worse covers, but it just didn't do it for me, it seemed very linear, and monotone to me, void of emotion, and I know Chris can deliver emotion, but not on this track. The only cover of this song I've heard that was decent, was Metallica themselves performing it with Miley joining in, I think the performance on Howard Stern is the one I liked. Musically they didn't change much, but her rasp mixed with Hetfield's tried and true growl made for a nice sounding version, not better, just good and different. Thanks for being honest with your reactions, and willing to take some flack, that's rare these days with reactors lust for clicks at all cost, take care!
Ok.....this might be a Long comment. Me and my group of friends back in the early 90's hung out literally every day. Our families,kids,pets....all of us hung out. When Nothing else Matters hit on the Black album, we all agreed this was our groups theme song. I loved it....IMMENSELY ever since. Our whole friends group....23 of us strong were as loyal as can be to each other, and this song just spoke to us. With all that said....I SOOOO respect you brother for being honest and posting this reaction even though you were a bit weary. Again that's what makes you the Top up and coming reactor. As far as the song goes, it's a no. Even Chris's voice couldn't save it in my opinion.

@@JensRandolff dude, absolutely. People are so quick to want to cut someone down just cause someone doesnt like what they like. Appreciate you friend.

If you want a good cover song, check out Journey’s “Separate Ways” by Daughtry and Lzzy Hale.
Oh I will have to check it out.

dude thanks for sharing your story. This song needed to stop after 4 mins. It lost the feel and soul of the OG song with trying to be different.
@@TheWolffAndTheMelodyAgreed.
At least it's dark country. It's tolerable.
For me, it was ok if it would of stopped at 4 mins
LOL. I would say nice try Chris, but it really wasn't.
hahahah
He does have a good voice, but I found this presentation boring and rather pedestrian.
