There's a reason Ob is a CEDH deck right now, commander is insane. He might be the new best Rakdos legend for pure value surpassing Prosper. A super interesting deck, but objectively very powerful
Ob is so nasty, but I think the new Rowan is even better? Tough to say. Ob generates his own card advantage but Rowan just closes the game out so quickly.
im putting rowan in Ob lol maximize self harm effects like roiling vortex and phyrexian arena etc @@HeirophantCarneus
i played him last night in our cedh tournament and game 1, i won turn 2 lol it was insanely explosive
Ob is so fun. He really does move things along, love what he brings to the table, even when i dont win I have fun.

Great game as always! 17:55 Very minor nitpick, but if you aren't going to utilize the effects of a non-permanent exiled with Etali, you should probably leave it in exile so that it cannot be flashed back or something similar. Especially if it is a ritual taken from a storm deck.

Nah. Cards cast by Etali go to the graveyard unless casting them causes them to be exiled. Cards you choose to not cast or cannot cast (lands) stay exiled.

I think Aaron should of died when Alex attacked him. He didn't pay mana for the Gut Shot thus triggering the Roiling Vortex hitting him for 5. His life total was wrong if it works the way I think it does. Super fun game to watch!
One thing I think happened though is that they misread a card. They were saying that some of the creatures were 3/3s, but I thought I read 1/1. I could be wrong though
@@srod9752Alex’s creatures being 3/3’s is due to the anthem effects he has on board, if that is what you’re referring too.

Cool to see Hamza on your playtable. In most forums I see, Selesnya gets badmouthed to heck and back.
thre is a reason for that, Selesnya isn't very powerful, you play stax or you lose. I have a very casual Kyler deck, I'm considering taking it apart and just adding a colour to make a Naya deck or something instead
@@ingolf82 While I would agree it is not as busted as Bant, Simic, or Naya, calling it weak unless you play stax seems a bit of a stretch. With Rhys the Redeemed, Hamza, Guardian of Arashin, Lathiel, the Bounteous Dawn, and Torens, Fist of Angels, you have plenty of powerful commanders, just requires protection effects to keep the snowball tumbling. I know I play Torens on Arena frequently, and my opponent commonly concedes when I snowball to hard.
I am not saying you do not have a point, but I believe you erred in making a hasty generalization.

I wonder when this was recorded since there's a really good enchantment from woe that exiles a card whenever you do non combat damage that would let ob dig even deeper

18:25 Aaron forgot to tap a land for his rakdos signet to cast fate unraveler. Tiny thing, but it just caught my eye.
Bontu's Monument makes Black creatures cost 1 less, so Unraveler cost 2B instead of 3B

At 14:25, release the dogs were supposed to create 1/1 dogs when they counted them as 3/3 dogs instead, unless im missing something. Still loved the video though
Both spear of Heliod and Leyline of the meek are giving them +1/+1 for a total of 3/3

Aaron cheated a little on the floating mana he had 4 black used to to cast talisman so 2 black floating cast rite of flame giving him 2 red so in total 4 mana floating so at the end he would of needed to chose between flame jab and Swiftfoot boots equip
Cool decks all around ob seemed a little higher power than the rest of the table but hanma winning was fun it seems similar to my slurk all ingesting nadier agent of dusknell partner deck in that it wants to go wide with +1 +1 counters

Ob Nix is not a casual commander
I don't think you can build a casual Ob Nixilis deck, that is the reason I'm staying away from it. if you build around it, it becomes silly right away, even if you don't mean to be
Etali cards stay exiled they don’t go on the bottom or back in library they gone forever
So you decided to basically play Otharri with the upside of only being removed by stuff that removes enchantments...
For folks who complain, I offer to play it as a 3/3 soldier.
@@alexmcgregor8658 Not a complaint I think, but it does beg the question of why. What does Assemble the Legion actually do that differentiates it from just running Othari? Why not something like Rise of the Hobgoblins? Boros goblins would be at least somewhat different and there isn't really a commander for that.
@zackkelley2940 because Assemble is my favorite card from forever, and I built it before otharri was released.

It occurs to me... it uses counters and white has enough proliferate support now that you could quite reasonably proliferate the heck out of those muster counters and make absolutely crazy numbers of soldiers with it.^^

Great episode, super fun to watch. I gotta say tho, the boomer magic habit of everyone tracking life on notepads separately surely takes up a few minutes across the whole episode. I know its good to keep life totals accurate and track if you've taken damage but its a lil annoying tbh.
We learned after our first 15 or so episodes that if we don't all track everyone's life total, there's about a 0% chance they're correct by the end of the game.
It's less a boomer habit and more a LGS player habit imo. If you've played any Modern FNMs, you will be a paper pad player.
