Syr : Whenever another creature dies, or a creature card is put into a graveyard from anywhere other than the battlefield, or a creature card leaves your graveyard, Syr Konrad, the Grim deals 1 damage to each opponent. 5:10 . Konrad should've triggered this moment since a creature card was put in a graveyard and not when sphynx was reanimated as it only triggers on YOUR gy. End result was the same but order was wrong as in some other scenario it could be important
i don't think mat entirely gets how the war doctor works, that queza/ob nixilis interaction should have given him a time counter for each impulse draw you made. it's no shame, the war doctor is actually super confusing, but 'impulse draw once twenty times' is 20 time counters and 'impulse draw 20 times' is one.
Mat deserves a rematch, his War Doctor could've one-shoted anyone on the table after that Peer into the Abyss + Ob Nixilis mess and stabilized pretty well with Basilisk Collar. I don't know if he could've won but wouldn't be out of the fight that early for sure.
Ob Nixilis is such a cool commander. With Konrad it only cares about creatures leaving your graveyard, not all graveyards. I don't think it changed the outcome. Cheers, keep making awesome videos
Mardu war doctor seems legit seems like ob would be great in the 99 shout out to the commanders keeping commander damage relevant beyond aura/equip Voltron and shout them out too because it’s not feeling like an after thought anymore.
As someone who plays the war docter i lnow how confusing it can be with exile effects. If a card says exile x number of or creatures you only get one counter, but if you it says exile until you hit x or in the case of Ob nixilis you exile the cards one at a time then those are all individual triggers and counters. Essentially all the cards you exiled to ob nixilis was a counter on the war docter so it should have been doing 40ish damage on attack
Why are their reanimate and entomb effects in the war doctor deck? Ig it worked a decent bit in this game but surprised me since doesnt really synergize with the deck
Am I the only one who thinks dungeon venturing is kind of a mid mechanic? Maybe the Undercity is too good but I find it boring they printed all those dungeons and people only play the one. Regardless the decks were cool and I'm a big fan of the channel! Good game guys
I play Hama Pashar a lot and the initiative is absolutely the most busted. When you are doubling the dungeon room effects, the lost mines of Phandelver is pretty decent and it serves as a win condition via the Dark Pool and can be a combo piece due to it's treasure generation to participate in certain loops. There are times where I'll put like 8+ dungeon triggers on the stack at the same time and usually going into the dungeon of the mad mage at that point will win me the game almost guaranteed. The tomb of horrors is absolutely trash and despite running a dedicated dungeon deck, I don't think I've ever really used it.
I'm working on a 4-color initiative/dungeon deck (Will & Lucas, or Wernog & Bjorna if you hate Universes Beyond for whatever reason), and yes, Undercity is far more powerful than the original three, with Dungeon of the Mad Mage, the second best, not coming even close. But what really puts initiative on a whole new level compared to venture is the monarch-like mechanic. It lets you get the dungeon benefits frequently without over-commiting to venture cards, thus giving your deck a lot more flexibility.
@@iPhoneeditor Tomb of Annihilation's only purpose is to enable Acererak's second ability, which can be done just as easily with an ETB hoser without permanently removing Acererak's main function, which is to be a reusable sorcery that reads "venture into the dungeon."
@@DarkEinherjar notably, it enables it by you specifically NOT going into that dungeon which adds emphasis to how crap it is. If you can loop Acerack with infinite mana or Rooftop Storm (which is very mana intensive and kinda bad), you just go through the Lost Mines of Phandelver infinitely to drain the table with the Dark Pool. Even with Acerack, you don't really use the Tomb of Annihilation haha
Any reason when the War Doctor swung and killed Queza with the Basilisk Collar didn't gain Matt a lot of life? Ob Nixilis exiled a lot of cards, War Doctor should have gained that many time counters.
Did I miss something or should Mat have decked himself from his consecrated sphinx on John’s peer into the abyss? If not fully decking himself, at least being very close to it.
If John drew 40, Mat should’ve drawn 80. I count 15 of Mat’s permanents on field/grave. With cards in hand, surely drawing 80 on the peer into the abyss should make him lose on empty library
That Peer into the Abyss in that board state fried my brain with the life total calculations... 😵💫
Yea, it was a lot. It certainly didn't help us with all the missed triggers for Mat, sadly.

After each Ob Nixilis trigger shouldn’t the War Doctor triggered? I feel like he should have ended with 41 or 42 time counters

I have a war doctor deck and yeah it's confusing at first and I always have to explain how not all exile effects are the same
He also ruinous ultimatiumd a little early. I think if he built up his board a bit more and all could attack, then drop it and wipe opps board.
yeah he would have blasted john for a massive amount and lived with the life swing
Aww, I really wanted to see the Queza deck! That was a good match to watch!
This was some high powered stuff - tons of fun! I like the aristocrats approach you took with Ob
is there a reason John kept his arcane signet after the "Ruinous Ultimatum"?
Everyone forgot it wasn't a land. Magic is hard sometimes.

That Peer Into The Abyss play was so brain melting 😂
Super respect that classy play at the end 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 also love seeing high power action on this channel!
I don’t think that John should have been able to free cast the FoN since it was his end step when Arca tried to resolve the Kolagan’s Command
No, he shouldn't been able to
Very gentlemanly win, there.
I'll never get tired of hearing "Sword of the Anime" :)

Andrew not playing Coffers from exile with an Urborg in play hurt my soul. Hurt even more that he played a basic swamp instead.

YOOOOOO SHOUTOUT JOHN QUEZA’S THE GOAT
excited to see your ob nixilis list!
how was force of negation cast ?
also make sure you remember! Force of negation can only be cheated during other players turns, never your own ! ooops

Undercity, imo, is the only one worth doing.

We didn't catch that at the time.
Ob is such a fun deck.
Sick game~
PLAY MORE OB NIXILIS, CAPTIVE KINGPIN
Bring back evil adam with derevi 😢, I’m still using his original decklist and is good as ever.
I don't think he can, for the same reason he can't bring the Jersey Boys back: they're far away and life goes on.
Why all the hate towards mat in the game?
His War Doc and Clara deck has a bit of a reputation for being explosive.
Unless I'm missing something John shouldn't of been able to cast Force of Negation for free because it was still his turn
Blast should have destroyed arcane sygnet too. It made John cast pyre into abyss. And warp the game. And later omnicious.
Huge mistake.
Can you respond to this comment once the Ob Nix list is posted?
Sword of the anime, lmao
