What else should we react to? 🤔 Comment below!
Babymetal BxMxC Live
RA the Rugged Man featuring A-F-R-O “Gotta Be Dope”. Also you should collab musically with Fro if he’ll do it. You two I think would have mad chemistry.
Dont mess with me by YourBoySponge (for the memes) or Swing by Conner Price
Anything from PRIMUS dont care what song you pick they are all great
Slayer - Vices
This is my parents' song. 😢 my mom passed away in Augest of last year, and they were married for 30+ years, and my Dad plays this song every day.
I’m so sorry for your loss.
Sorry for your loss. I can’t imagine how difficult that must be.❤️
My dad passed away in 2018, I was 25 at the time. He was my hero and he was the one who introduced me too Metallica at a very early age. I know how you feel but with time you will heal. I still have my days and I miss him so much but know you’re not alone
I’m so sorry for your loss! I lost my 19 year old son in a car accident and life is definitely NOT the same😞
That's sad and my heart aches for both of you on you and fathers Loss. Lost mine 11.5 years ago in March. Still feels like yesterday and like a Nightmare I can't wake up from.
Metallica's softer power ballads have always been good. This and the unforgiven songs etc hit so hard.
Definitely. The Unforgiven Trilogy are some of my favorite songs of all time of any genre or band. Metallica are great at crafting songs that are soft AND heavy all at once.
Wouldn't wanna forget fade to black. Especially the long solo at the end. Love it every single time I listen to it.
Metallica’s S&M albums with the San Francisco orchestra are soooooo powerful! Metal mixes well with the fullness of an orchestra
I definitely think Knox should visit some S&M versions
S&M is sadness for old school metallica fans. Its more for the people bumping the terrible 90s albums
@@fanatic26 i actually disagree with this. I know plenty of metallica fans from the early years that love at least the first S&M album. I love the majority of their stuff including the master of puppets album as well. my favorite song is off that album - battery but as a whole i have to put the S&M album at the top for me.
"No leaf clover" is my favorite out of this album. Music evolves, art evolves, and I don't really give a F about the old Metallica vs. the New Metallica b*llshit
@@ROCK_Music_Fan_BG Good music is just good music, period. I was very skeptical of the S&M album when one of my high school friends handed it to me. Master of Puppets and Justice for All were my Metallica introduction so I was super deep into their old school sound at the time, but I gave it a shot. Now S&M is easily in my top five favorite albums from anyone ever.
I met my husband when we were 18 and he claimed this was the most romantic song he knew. When we got married 12 years later I surprised him by walking down the isle to this played on the harp - it's a great track.
Love this one from Metallica. I remember James saying he wrote this and didn't want anyone seeing it. This song had to do with a call he had with his girlfriend, but they ended up dedicating it to their fans instead. These are actually my favorite types of music videos too. Simple and raw. Hope you have a great week, Knox.
Yep. The story goes, James was on the phone with his gf and he was plucking open notes and that’s kind of how he got the main riff for this one.
People my age-(26), will usually always laugh when I tell them that this is my mom and dad’s song and wedding song, but honestly it is such a beautiful song! Makes sense since nowadays young adults think Metallica is some cornball metal group from the 80’s, but they weren’t blessed like myself with listening to them for all their lives due to their father being a total metal freak. They are the most successful metal band for a reason 💛 thanks for appreciating and reacting to this song!
Why do they laugh? Isnt this like one of the most popular wedding songs ever?
@@figu6ka379 said above, people I’ve encountered that are my age of younger either don’t know who Metallica is or think they’re an old, corny band and haven’t actually listened to them. They are very popular especially this song, but for some reason, I keep encountering folks who don’t like them for either no reason or because they just don’t like metal won’t give it a chance.
I'm also 26 and my Dad raised me on Metallica, Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath, Pantera, those more Classic Metal bands, and their not Metal but his favorite band is Rush and Styx is my Mom's favorite band so that's the kind of stuff I've always loved
@@Werewolf914 that is rad! I feel pretty blessed to have been raised with so much versatility in music, especially the metal to alternative to grunge genres. My dad adores Phil Collins despite loving heavier stuff, and my mom brought me up with Audioslave, Pearl Jam, and got me into playing and loving the guitar because of John Mayer! It brought a love for simply GOOD music (or what I define as good) no matter the genre.
Song gives me goosebumps every time. Also the song One from Metallica gives me chills. Especially the music video
👍
As a Metallica fan, this was a great switch up from them. Love it!
It’s both. He wrote it for a girlfriend but as time went on it turned into a love song to the fans. So you were double right! 🙂 (Y’all let me know if I’m wrong - this has been the story I’ve heard/read forever)
Like the orchestral sounds in a Metallica song? Check out their collaboration with the San Francisco Symphony, specifically No Leaf Clover on the S&M album. It's fucking epic. Hell, both S&M and S&M 2 are absolute fire.
@KnoxHill #KnoxHill , you gotta listen and react to the track done with the San Francisco Symphony.
The lyrics were written by James and mainly are related to the feeling of being homesick and missing his girlfriend at the time by being on tour traveling all the time.
This and "low man's lyric" are such good steps outside their usual tracks.
Also to the orchestral stuff, they have a whole live album with the San Francisco symphony.
I got married to this song. Sadly the marriage didn't last but I still get feels when I hear this.
Ive been waiting for you to do this 1!! This is 1 of my favorite Metallica songs! Not very many people see James as a poet, but thats exactly what he is! If you want to hear more with string instruments added in, check out No leaf clover, Hero of the day, or any song from the S&M albums! Much love and happy listening! ❤
S&M was a masterpiece from start to finish
Love S&M and No leaf clover! 🤘🏻
Because he's not, these lyrics and song suck. James hasn't written anything good in over 30 years.
My favorite band. My mom showed me this band when I was a kid. She recently died in March so when I hear Metallica it's hard. But you broke it down so well and taught me something about the song it's self.
Losing a parent changes a person. Stay strong!
Metallica was having troubles within the band and also were doing a new album. There was a document going on as well. I love this song
Remember when my dad used to bump this song in the car every time we went to a trip..good times and also a dope song..keep going Knox..❤️🎧
Pepperidge Farms remembers...
Sorry i had to
Excellet breakdown and analysys. This song has always held a place for me and its nice to see it still holding up today. Even Elton John said this was one of the best songs ever written.
you want more metallica strings, check out S&M 1 and 2. first one with the song no leaf clover is a must
My wife & I had our first dance to this at our wedding reception! Love it!
This is for sure one of the greatest peices of music that's been recorded this century. Bro talking about orchestral, you should check out No Leaf Clover by these guys.
You need to do the unforgiving trilogy next! You’ll love the storytelling and am sure will find more depth than most…
One of the best songs that Metallica released
Fun fact, an all orchestral version was used to score the end of episode 3 of Wednesday (Netflix) it was haunting and powerful in the scene. Especially already knowing the words 😸
Ohhh… classic rock❤
I love this song and Unforgiven.
These songs are good with a symphony orchestra. Goosebumps will definitely
I love your Metallica Reactions 🤘🏽❤
James Hetfield wrote this riff while talking to his girlfriend
James is afraid to show that song to his band members but
lars ulrich the drummer heard that song and he loves it
And the last solo was written by james to he wrote beautiful solo's he's genius the riff master ❤🤘🏽
This is one of my most favorite songs from them; I loved it even before I was born lol. My mum would put Metallica tapes in her Walkman and put the headphones against her stomach to make me calm down. This song in particular would chill me out, according to her. I joke that I was born a metalhead lol XD
Jeez, I was having a tough day today, and you picked one of my favorite Metallica songs to do for Metal Monday. Never thought I'd be crying and laughing while watching one of your reaction videos, but here we are. 💟
Edit: if I remember correctly, the song is Hetfield to his wife.
One of the first Metallica songs I ever learned to play. From what I've read it is about a relationship, but to me it's also always embodied some of the key aspects to the metalhead mindset. That 'Life is ours, we live it our way" attitude. Ideals that are very well represented by the track 'Wherever I May Roam' from the same album. I think you would enjoy the lyrics to that one.
Metallica did an entire Live album with an Orchestra. Even wrote new music for the album. Metallica S&M is the name of the album and the new track No Leaf Clover ☘️ is amazing
Lately your video quality has leveled up again, somehow, from what was an already extremely high level. I love your continued growth as a reactor. Keep grinding 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Bro, you're my fave hip hop reactor and I love this reaction! I love your non rap reactions too. You'd love the acapella version of this song by Voiceplay.
My favorite Metallica song. Great reaction
Its a beautiful track and when you see its impact at a concert its an anthm
In my opinion, one of their greatest songs, like top 5 category!!!
My boy forgot to plug in his mike again. It's been a while. It's nice to see things never change on this channel. Great reaction. Thanks. Sub up people. Much love, Knox
so thats what it was lol when the video started i was like uhhh lol
You're commenting on the orchestral background in the mix... time to get into the S&M stuff with the whole orchestra, I've always loved No Leaf Clover, but just about anything from that selection is awesome.
This song will be played over and over until the end of my funeral. ❤ it's in my will. ❤😊
Most of the times I'll watch your reactions for a bit more "insight"?
But now I was more like a Mrs Voyeur, observing your face, to see glimps of emotions.
This is such a great song and for me it's loaded with tons of memories. Good ones, sad ones.
It's life itself, cought in a haunting melody.
Greetings from Belgium!
Late to the party on this reaction but they actually performed this with the San Francisco Symphony. Really cool performance
This is one of the moments where I go “How have you NOT heard this song?!”
Great review! This would be a song I would love to forget and listen to for the first time again.
The musical range that Metallica cover is insane…..geniuses 🔥🔥🔥🤘🤘🤘
One of the softer Metallica songs. But still a great song. Open mind for a different view. So true
At the beginning of the song they show the drummer looking at the camera. The first thing that came to my mind was instant. Looks like how you would look when the McFlurry machine is broken again. I love all of your reactions!
It's an amazing ballad. It's all about the music and it's all for the fans... and nothing else matters. ❤ 🤘
Came to you from your Ren reactions.. Will say you get everything spot on. This track is my favourite of all time.. Great reaction 🔥🔥
Love the song. It got ridiculous radio air play, it was a while before I could listen to it again. This song get played AT so many weddings. It’s beautiful to here it done by just strings or an orchestra.
Now you really need to hear Voiceplay's version of this song. It's fantastic!
I just thought it was about how it is the relationships in life that matter. Being people. Don’t get caught up in anything else, because nothing else matters. Love your perspective Knox.
Love that you picked up in the orchestration, it lead to my personal favorite Metallica album. The strings were added in by a composer named Michael Kamen, who also worked with other rock bands such as Pink Floyd to add strings and brass to live shows. He wanted to do the same with Metallica and managed to put together orchestral accompaniments for an entire concert’s worth of their songs for a recording with the San Francisco Symphony Orchestra called S&M. It takes some familiarity with their music to truly appreciate, but it also features a new song called “No Leaf Clover” that has become a fan favorite. Worth checking out some time.
Life is ours, we live it our way. Brings me back to growing up with Metallica, a pack of gen X kids raising each other and respecting nothing else.
One of my top 5 Metallica songs, love seeing you react and taking the time to understand not just the lyrics meaning but the music as well. So often it boils down to that sounded cool from other reactionaries. You should try Linken Park given up, there is a 17 second part of the song I'd love to see you react to.
So great to see the metal mondays return!
Last year on our wedding day this was the opening song my husband and I waltzed to. It was really great, I highly recommend it.
love how you go threw the breqkdown and still just be what i assume is you funny times yet sincere then knowledge love it
Metallica and Iron Maiden bands from my youth that got me into metal in the first place. The amount of firsts they have as a band is mad, and they are the only band to have played all 7 continents and the biggest live crowd in Moscow of 1.6 million plus. Think first metal band to do live concert with orchestra as well with San Francisco symphony orchestra. That's worth checking too.
Love you Knox Hill and all your reactions! Your amazing and love you tons. Much respect ❤️✌🏻
If you haven't done it yet you should react to Voiceplay's a capella version of this song. It's really good.
The Pretty Reckless "Only Love Can Save Me Now" is a way deeper song than people realize and I think you are one of very few that can understand it. And its a awesome song with guest guitarist and drummer.
Clutch "Burning Beard" would be a really fun one. Or anything from Clutch really.
Their lyrics are super efficient in every song. They use metaphors a lot because it paints a picture, and you know what pictures are worth
this song is well loved by so many, has influenced so many, and is a testament to love lasting even when one partner is on the road. there is an amazing a capella cover of this track by VoicePlay. there are many covers of this important ballad, but i like that one best, if you ever have a reason to check out a cover of this one. that being said, you have just tapped into one of the most beloved songs in Metallica's catalog. keep diving. you won't ever be disappointed with this band.
Glad you left that in. Good stuff my man.
Since you were so Impressed by then adding Classical orchestra elements. You should do Metallica S&M Album/concert. Has full orchestra play songs off several albums and a New Song at time No Leaf Clover! If you're gonna check out only 1 song or to hear what it would be like with other songs check Out No Leaf Clover!
I just discovered your channel. I really love these metal Mondays. Your breakdown of songs is just excellent. Keep up the good work! I have a recommendation if I may: Hatebreed - Defeatist. I just have a feeling you'll love this one.
Elton john quoted “Listen, this is one of the best songs ever written, to me,”
The orchestral arrangement was done by Michael Kamen and yes there is an orchestra in the song recorded.
I know it’s ironic but this song by Metallica specifically got me into them. It’s so strong yet so somber. So powerful yet so peaceful. I love it, and the vocals are amazing. It gives me chills everytime. Unbeatable.
Saw METALLICA LIVE.... Unforgettable experience Knox... Unforgettable! 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
You bring up orchestral music in this song. You need to check out Metallica's performance with the San Francisco Symphony Orchestra playing Outlaw Torn from their first S&M album
They actually have a concert with a symphony playing with them on songs actually is amazing. Should review fade to black if you didn't yet I might have missed it. Love the chanel
Great reaction knox! Sad but true by Metallica please! It's a banger
Love metal Mondays!
Thats an old school golden studio recording for ya 👌🏼 Fantastic.
One of Metallica's best tracks yet it is such a departure from their normal style.
I think thing so is great because it’s so universal and anyone can listen and relate it to their life whether it be a relationship or just living life your way.
Saw this live twice (yes I’m old😂). Their live shows are amazing.
Same here...LIVE is an experience few can explain 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Metallica rules🤘. Iconic Song❤. Fine job, Mr. K
It is cool how they inverted the whole start clean and finish heavy concept. Instead, they kept it clean and had a heavy part towards the end.
Appreciated reaction - insightful
Another great one, good job 👍
I know this is an old video of yours but I didn't see anyone mentioning it so here we go. The video was shot during the making of a documentary called "A year and a half in the life of Metallica", where they filmed the making of the black album and also the tour after the release. The band (mainly Lars) were really pissed at the camera crew because they kept getting in the way in the studio, at one point they accidentally tripped on a guitar chord pulling it out of the amp when James was recording his track. It still turned out to be a fun documentary and more lighthearted than "Some kind of monster".
I'm gonna count how many times Knox says "I like that sentiment" in this video
In case you weren't wondering, it was only 3 times
Amazing song
Love this song. Thanks Knox.
I’m not a huge fan of Metallica, personally, but this is one song I like
Same
Hero of the Day, Bleeding Me, Turn the Page, No Leaf Clover, Fade to Black, For Whom the Bell Tolls are all worth doing a react too at some point.
There’s a reason why Metallica are as big as they are. Great lyrics and music. This album was such a switch up for them at the time and they received a lot of flack for it, which was honestly not deserved. They were willing to try out a different style and executed it perfectly. Not only that but it wasn’t their first time doing more stripped back work, example: Fade To Black and Welcome Home Sanitarium. If you want to see them play with an actual orchestra check out the 1999 S&M version of No Leaf Clover, an original they made just to perform with the orchestra, it’s a live album and is flawless from cover to cover.
Thank you so much for reacting to them again ❤!
Hi. The look in the drummers eye at 2.35
Tizz a splendid thing.
In reality, it's an actual reminder, e.g. reminder. YOU'RE up in 8, 7, 6, 5. Also, 16, 15, 14
I LOVE THE LOOK IN THE DRUMMERS EYE. just a glance. says it all
Why did it take this long to hear this, my favorite song ever. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
When this song released i was 4 years old but I heard it when I was 16 i think it has always been one of the best song I heard in my life.
Dude, metalheads make the best love ballads of all times...
Does anyone else come here to have Knox explain their favorite songs to them?
A ton of people hate Lars, calling him a “bad” or “sloppy” drummer and “bad for the band” etc. etc. - but he was actually the very reason why the public got to experience that song. James was extremely shy about the song, but Lars gave him a confidence boost and helped put all the elements together as the track we all know and love today. On Howard Stern they jokingly said that it slowly became somewhat of a testament to their brotherhood and strong friendship, like a “love letter” to Lars, because he encouraged and supported James when he was having a hard time sharing certain stuff with others. James wrote it when he missed his girlfriend, but it became so much more over time 😃
welcome to the rock ballad Knox!
gotta have the cool down the the crowd song or they'd dehydrate their fans in the m.p.'s
Cheers for the video mate 😎 👌
We love metal mondays knox
I remember saving my allowance for a few weeks so I could buy the VHS documentary to go with my Black album cassette. 😆
Try Fade To Black, Sad But True, Until It Sleeps, For Whom The Bell Tolls, and their cover of Bob Seger's Turn The Page (I love both versions equally, which hard for me to do because covers of songs I grew up with usually bug me)
Lol I’m literally playing this song in a high school talent show this week. Great reaction
Great reaction Knox!!! Please do more Nightwish. I recommend I Want My Tears Back live at Buenos Aires and the lyric video for Shoemaker
If you haven't, you should check out Master of Puppets live with the San Francisco symphony orchestra. Some prefer the studio recording as it is a bit different, less rushed. I think there's a great video posted 11-25-22 on Headbangers Club. It was one heck of a show! They also did For Whom the Bell Tolls live with the symphony.
When a metal band makes a love song. 😅😁👌 The guitar is so good in this
The opening notes are played with one hand. The story I've heard is he wrote this while on the phone with his girlfriend and played the first notes with open strings since he had one hand on the phone.
