    I love this plant! I'd say it requires a bit of an effort to look good (the same level of care as verrucosums, melanochrysums...). And I do belive it is worth it. You can hardly find a plant more silvery than that one, and the leaves are so stunning, they really shine.
    I've been growing mine up a moss pole frome a tiny little cutting. It has given me 15 new leaves in almost half a year, and the leaves are starting to get quite big now. I'm very curious how big they can get. It is growing alongside my velvety phylodendrons, and they are giving off a perfect silvery-velvety vibe that I so much adore.

    Hi! I live in Southeast Asia, and with this plant being indoors vs outdoors there is little difference in my experience prolly because of my location. If it is outdoor, it thrives if you put it under dappled lighting (like under a huge tree or let it climb a tree for rapid leaf sizing up) it is humid here but if the plant is new.. it will still have some acclimation regardless. Give it a really really tall coco / moss pole and the leaves will grow bigger exponentially. If grown indoors, just find a spot where it’s comfortable, and with this plant it will really require lots of humidity at first. Once it acclimates it just keeps growing albeit a little slower. Growth is faster outdoors but the risk of melting is higher because the leaves are quite thin even if it’s mature. I have a mother plant with leaves bigger than my palm and another with leaves as long as my little pinkie. Over all just a little balancing with humidity acclimation + dappled lighting+ height and it’s a happy plant for sure. You can let this plant dangle, but to make it look beautiful in my experience, it really requires a pole because the leaves are better vs hanging. Thank you for the video!❤
    PS: Forgot to mention that I occasionally feed it fertilizer too to make them grow a little faster. :)

    I'm from Perth, Australia. I'm on my third attempt at growing this plant. My previous two attempts were tiny cuttings that didn't love life. They were near grow lights and a humidifier. My third try, I bought an established plant for a good bit more money, let her get comfortable in an entirely new room that is south-facing but sheltered by eaves, then repotted her on a moss pole. She is also sheltered by a monstera deliciousa. I've had her for maybe three months and she's given me two leaves, so not a fast grower in my experience either. Still not entirely sure about her, but giving it a good chance.

    A friend gave me a rooted single leaf cutting. That was in August. It still only has 1 leaf and shows no interest in developing another 😅 While other plants I got at the same time are popping out leaves left and right. I do love how beautiful the silver looks. It's really lovely IRL. But the slowness, it's killing me 😂

    Thank you for all of the information, I've been considering getting this plant, it's been available for 13€ in a local nursery, but I'm not sure if I can keep it alive during the (dry) Greek winter. It also reminds me of Scindapsus "Silvery Ann", of which I recently got (yet another) cutting, because I tend to kill this plant, so I'm still undecided whether I should get one or not.

    I was waiting for this one! I have seen huge mature plants and tried to make it climb but it refuse to sise up. I'm sad to seen that even in your conservatory it didn't. So here in France it's not difficult to find one and I bought mine maybe a year ago in a garden center as one of the cheapest of their "rare" plant stand. It struggle to unfurl it's leaves sometimes due to my dry air but it the old leaves dont need humidity to trive and the plant itself seems to hate water. (i finally used my cactus mix for it)
    From the leaf shape and lack of mature plant and lack of cataphyle on juvenile plants I suspect it to be more close to melanochrisum than hederaceum. Hederaceum is an oddball anyway.

    • @Houseplantygoodness
      @Houseplantygoodness  Рік тому

      Ohhhh interesting hadn't made the connection to the melano, but yeah I think you might be right and glad to hear I am not the only one who thinks the hederaceum is an oddball.
      But yeah this is one that I wouldn't want to try in too dry a condition.

  • @aspirativemusicproduction2135

    First I bought plastic one to put next to my bed. Today I walked in Lowe's and I saw real one and I felt like I should try it. I definitely got it for the silver. It's nice to have few plants that are not just green. And that's why I got variegated pothos too. I don't particularly like variegation much but it is all about the context. You want to spice s**t up.

    Have one on a moss pole. It has been slowly making its way up it, but kinda scraggly looking. I am going to cut it when it gets to the top and replant in same pot hopeing to get a thicker plant. I like the way it looks, but for some reason it is underwhelming. It is easy to find on line at low double digits, but it is not in any garden center here in Idaho, USA.

      @AcrylDame I’m from the New England area of the US. I’ve been struggling with this plant as well. I bought mine a year ago from the clearance table of my local nursery. I was told that the official nursery feline, Abby, had taken a disliking to some plants and tore them apart, thusly the ones that survived the attack were marked down. I paid less then 10 dollars. I’ve tried every lighting/humidity scenario, & mine continues to produce tiny misshapen leaves that struggle to unfurl. I’ve successfully propagated with the new plant giving me the same result. I was at the same nursery today and saw these plants in 4 inch pots for $34.99. I haven’t seen them at big box stores like Home Depot or Lowe’s at this point.
      Honestly, I’m just underwhelmed by this plant. I decided that I’m going to let it go “feral” and wish it the best of luck.
