I do miss my old VS V8 black Maloo ute it was something very different 😢 Never had the same feeling from any other car! Looks like you really enjoyed that machine!
Ive watched this video at least 5 times and i keep coming back for that inspiration. Such a clean and healthy sounding ute really well done mate:)
Thanks for the kind words KenSyl Bay. She's a great Sunday cruiser!
Just a question are these SSV rims? I want to buy a set of SSV rims but they are basically biscuits, just wondering if yours are the same.
@@kensylbay1634 yep, VE SSV's. Just been painted black with whitewalls 👍🏻
Are they rather skinny? Mine are 19x8 wide and they seem skinny.
Thats exactly what they are. 245 wide tyre on them. Pretty standard fitment for a commodore mate. If you want something phat, you'd be better suited looking for something else.
Absolutely love VR VS utes still watch this every now and then, finally bought myself a VS SS Ute couple of months ago I love driving it, cheers Jeff
Awesome stuff mate. Stocked you finally have one of your own 👌
Love finding this gem in my UA-cam videos.
A great video. Loved rewatching it.
It's a flashback, that's for sure! Would definitely be filmed and edited differently now though 😅
The quality of these vids is getting really good! The new paint job looks mint 😊
Thanks mate, learning a little more each time. The fresh exterior is definitely a massive thumbs up to the guys who did the job, the video doesn't quite do it justice.
10:40 love that. If you can walk away without looking back, it's the wrong car for you.
Bingo 👌
Dude loving the vids keep them coming! 👍👍👍👍👍
Wow I’m speechless this is such a great video 🤩🤩
Thanks lads
No probs Big Guy 👌🏻
Love the car and video mate, I like the face / tongue motion you make when you hear the charger purr ;)
Very nice. Not every car should be a racer. Just a nice car is all we need. Best of both worlds.
Mint ute bro, makes me miss my VR ute (had the same Maloo front end). You are right with the T5 at the limit, I swapped mine out to a 6 speed from VR GTS which slotted straight in. I built mine with a fully forged 355ci build but never got around to charging it before I sold it. Wish I got to hear that charger wine like yours.
Yeah I dont think the T5 would appreciate much more that it's already dealing with haha. I vaguely remember seeing they were rated to 380nm... while this has sheets showing 750nm 😬
Beautiful Ute, mate. Just beautiful 🙂👍
Thankyou kindly 👍
nice work Jeff nearly makes me want to do a video on my car haha
awesome mate
LS the world!!! awesome video brother
LB9’s ain’t nuttin to fuck with
Beautiful
i watch this video once every few months. i’m building a pantha mica vs ute with a 5L and interior from a vr ute and this is my all time inspiration. beautiful ute man i would kill to have mine like this one day
Appreciate the props mate, thanks so much 🤙🏻
Love that supercharger wine. Great VS ute...
Down to earth bloke, great content!!
Thanks MSE, You're too kind.
Nice so clean 👌👍
Loving how your happy with just a cruiser. Nice Ute nice vid 🇦🇺🤘
No point in trying to make it something it isn't, hey mate? That combo isn't much chop for drag racing, and the suspension and brakes arent up to spec for circuit stuff. I've done both in that car for shits n giggles, but it's pretty half arsed out there. It's just perfect for getting out to a car meet or cruisin out to the pub with the boys 👌🏻
@@TorqHub ahh good stuff, sounds good and looks awesome, hold onto it mate, holden is now a collectors item, especially Aussie built 5L
Mad Bro
You've got the Right Idea!!
Sweeet as
Thanks boss. Glad you enjoyed it 😁
Mate that ute is absolute perfection, I got one in my backyard it need a lots of work on it and I was even thinking of scraping it but had change of heart. Hopefully one day it looks as good as yours.
Thankyou kind sir. She's far from perfect, but its a really clean weekender 💪
Definitely hold onto what you have mate. They were the best ute to come out of the Lion's Den, and starting to gain alot of popularity as they come of age. Just chip away at it, slowly but surely it'll be an awesome whip 👌
@@TorqHub I need to finish off my VR BT1 first not much to go just final touches and than plan is to restore the ute and make it same as sedan same paint same wheels and interior. I reckon that would look cool 😉
Nice man.
Keep watching on the channel, there may or may not be some VR BT1 things coming this year ;)
Can I buy your Ute off you?
What a beast and it sounds mint 👍👌
Mint ute.
Such a great shape that series.
We tend to agree! One of the best utes from the General's stable.
Oof this is sexy. I had a VS Calais 5.0L as my first whip - absolutely loved it. Always liked the utes more though. Ended up selling it 9 years ago and got a VZ Maloo 6.0L LS2 which I still have. You can definitely tell your rig has had a 3 stage sand, paint correction and ceramic coating, its so glassed out and immaculate. Props to treating it like it deserves. Don't see many of them around anymore.
Thanks fella, always nice when people can appreciate the effort it takes 👌🏻 Hope you're still enjoying that Maloo mate, and thanks for watching!
Gotta love a vs Ute!
Nice car mate really well built. Those devonish seats look trick as.
Thanks mate! They're a great seat that's for sure!
Bloody awesome ute, i have a 97 Vs maloo in mint condition with pretty much everything on it either rebuilt or brand new and want to turbo it one day!
A turbo maloo would be a ripper dude! Sounds like yours would be a prime candidate 💪🏻
paint is so nice, my favourite gen of commodore right here
didn't realise the rwhp was so low on these stock
30 years ago EFI was still in its early days, and emissions were getting tighter.
The low compression definitely doesn't help its cause, but makes for a pretty boost friendly combo ;)
Sounds really nice 👍
Cheers Trent 👍🏻
That's good power for what it is.
Nothing like a good all rounder uteris
Yep, would be lucky to have 400 at the flywheel . Just a plain meat and 3 veg family hack with a ute body, that's why Holden doesn't exist anymore...
Very tidy mate,nice one 👍🏻
Cheers dude 👍
Clean as mate! Clean as!
ain't no LS bmw, but this runs
Shots fired!
Lets not forget that back in the day the ricer mods were the place to be. And those chromies were peak 2008
How dare he fail to mention the clear tail lights and 4x4 ride height.
I was trying to forget the altezza taillights
Awesome video really well put together . Buffalo road for the win ! Haha
Thankyou! We're stoked you enjoyed it. That was a very scenic spot! And perfect for some drone shots.
clean vs mate. looks n sounds wicked
Thanks mate
Sweet ute !
Thanks Lee!
Nice cars ❤ holden I like your cars I see the UA-cam and good driving
9:48
In my opinion that's the perfect build of a vs ute
Thanks mate.
@@TorqHub your welcome
Awesome vid, my first car is gonna be a series 1 year 92 I think? Anyway cant wait to fix her up
Awesome mate. Glad you liked the video and Good luck with fixing up your vp!
Nice vid, this is where I want to go with my... Soon mine in the family VS Mint Berlina, upgrade charge it, really neat ute, well done keep the vids coming. Shits on mighty car mods
Cool man! Hopefully it comes out like you dreamed. Those new Harrop blowers look like an awesome bit of kit for the humble 5 litre.
Thanks for the kind words bud, but I think we'd be hard pressed to match their production quality and experience, haha! We just like a different style I guess. 3 million subscribers would be kinda cool though 🤣
wicked
Just Send It!!!!
OMG that true Australian 🇦🇺 sound love it it
Even though he says it’s not much power them cars are not heavy ether so power to weight he’s doing pretty good
It's not the peak power that's the cool part of this ute, it's the low down torque 💪
Torq Hub Media yeah differently it’s a fully sick car
Greeeen green is nice
That's mint
Thanks mate
250kw at the treads is quite respectable and with the blower it would make it mint to drive around on the streets
Hey Mark, thanks for checking out the video mate. Yeah she's a perfect weekend cruiser. Low maintenance, and no fuss. Just gets the job done 👌🏻
I just dynod my 304 today, 184hp... this makes me want to charge mine haha nice build man
And with much better blower kits around nowadays its tough to resist. Can get a nice Harrop setup for 10k, and will do the job alot better than my dinosaur gear does haha.
Thanks for watching mate. More 5ltr content coming to the channel soon!
What mods do you have to achieve 184rwhp? I'm getting try-y Pacemaker extractors K&N air filter, I already have a 2.5" single exhaust with high flow 200cpi cat into hotdog than a bit bigger hotdog on the rear, sounds really good hopefully with all these mods I can get 180rwhp on my VG SS manual 1991, Oh yes bring more 5 litre videos their really good 👌
@@willfindlay3915 hey mate just factory 185i motor, clubby extractors to 3 inch pipe
I got a 304 statesman out the back making 294kw at the wheels it has top end built with bottom end stock looking to turbo it one day but don’t have the money and time
Ive got one in my shed, same colour same year, manual, never been used as work bus. Cant wait to put a motor in it, just what one, cant decide yet..??👍
There is only one choice 😉 haha
@@TorqHub ecotec lmao
Nice ute bro
Thank you!
I want one.
😎🤙
Every garage should have one 🤣
Do a skid!!!!!
Not bad power , and quarter time very nice rig
Thankyou kindly sir
lol just rewatched this again 😂
Shut up & take my money!! 🙌👌🇦🇺 love the oZzy content boys. Love the Ute.
Thanks Raw material Customs! Stoked you're enjoying the videos, plenty more to come 😁
Thanks for watching mate 👌🏻
Torq Hub Media mate you got the Aussie content, raw honest approach & you send it like a legend. If that Zak baldy kid got 30k subs your definitely going places.
@@honestlybrutalvlt9762 Only time will tell I guess. Ol' mate has put a bunch of work in to get where he has.
But, we're having an absolute blast doing what we're doing, and we're only just getting started 👌🏻
Can’t we get more videos on the Ute, love the supercharger on it, how much was the blower and would I be able to get one for a 308??
Been getting a few requests to see more of the old girl!
I doubt you'd find any kits like this anymore as it's very outdated. For early head configuration you'd probably only find the old school 6/71 or Weiand 144 type kits, or the modern day version of this kit would be the Harrop 2300 to suit VN heads which I believe start at $9500
Sounds sooooo good. How come the supercharger kits aren't more popular?
Very old technology, and they're no longer available. One of Harrops' latest offerings is the best option for top mount supercharging on these old engines for sure.
What’s the ute up to these days? Nice to see another video on it
She's just chillin at the moment Matt. Getting driven to the occasional car meet or pub lunch, but that's about it for right now. Got to get the VH moving forward, and when it's done we might revisit this old girl
Hey mate, how much did the M112 and manifold cost you if you don’t mind me asking?
Honestly, the price wouldnt even be relevant today because the entire kit was purchased in mid 2004, and I doubt anyone even sells these dinosaur blowers anymore haha.
But back then it was ~$9000 including tuning and permits.
Thats sick as mate! what springs is it sitting on? sssl?
Thanks dude.
SSL front, SSSL rear
Hey man how much did the charger kit cost, great content, thinking about doing the same to mine in the future
About 14k back in 2006 lol. No one would ever sell this kind of dinosaur setup anymore.
Get yourself a Harrop kit for $10k mate. Great value for money and much more efficient than this M112 ever was. Thanks for watching mate, glad you enjoyed it 👌
Mate, that ute is fuckin mint.
Thanks Matt 👍
Just come across this video, my criticism would be the sudden change of sound level from the gentlemen talking to the music, suggest a better mic and equal the sound level throughout the video. Great camera angles, well presented.
Thanks for the feedback. This was one of the first couple of videos we'd ever edited, so we'd like to think some days we've come a very long way since here...
...but we still need better mics 🤣
What cam is in mate?
Stock cam DZRX
That paint is beautiful, and that sound is pure porn. I have a vs ute that I've owned for 15 years and one day will get to it but as you say too many projects, one at a time.
Thanks Alan.
Yeah, the stark reality is there Just isn't enough time and money to go around for all of them, so we gotta space em out haha.
Hey mate love your videos . Could you send the specs on that 5l setup . It's exactly what I'm looking to do to my vs caprice .
Hey mate! As mentioned in the vid, she's a factory 304. As in, nothing changed inside at all. Marks Workshop M112 blower kit with 11psi pulley, tuned on 98 with some upgraded injectors, a walbro fuel pump, and a dyno tune. Has been very reliable 👌🏻
@@TorqHub thanks mate appreciate the reply . Legend !!
@@DirtWrangler anytime bud 👍🏻
Love this car Im on my L’s and I have a 1999 vs ute 5.0l I am looking at getting a new exhaust I would love to know what this one is🤤
Pacemaker Tri-Y extractors and D&T engineering single 3" mild steel cat back with 2 mufflers mate.
Thanks for watching buddy 👌🏻
Have you still got the ute? I had Pacemaker tri-y extractors and an aluminized steel single 3" with 100CPI cat and 1 muffler on my 5.0L. No drone whatsoever. Sounded nicer than my full difilippo twin 3" on my Maloo.
Sweet car mate, im of the exact same mind just want my vn to be a nice cruiser, its has a gilmer belt set up on it from when i got it and all that noise is doing is making me want a real SC hahah
Thanks mate. These models are definitely getting their popularity back it seems! You're dead right though, there is no imitation for that genuine blower whine 😍
@@TorqHub No doubt mate the SS's are starting to fetch a pretty penny, mines a vacationer thats had a 304 and t5 swap so picked it up much cheaper but still hurt the wallet haha. You and Skid factory's Whining Lion have pre much concreted my thoughts of slapping a SC on it
I tell you what, that Harrop kit TSF used on old mate's wagon is a great option too. You can also see on street machine where they bolted one onto a stock VT motor in an LC torana. Worked magnificently!
@@TorqHub that's good there is a few options, i guess my wallet will decide where i go eventually haha and sweet love Street Machine aswell ill go give that a sus. Iv been waiting for scotty to get onto that VN 👌
What exhaust system does it have. Sounds mint
Thanks @deadestduck.
It has Pacemaker tri-y extractors into a single 3" D&T Engineering catback exhaust. Still retains 2 mufflers would you believe? Sounds great!
@@TorqHub I've just put a VT 5.0 into my VR ute, undecided what size exhaust. 2.5 or 3.0 single . I don't want anything that drones
We prefer the sound of a single 2.5 inch system on a stock/mild 304. It's all personal preference really.
Good ol bunno😂
Very nice vs.
What's the second car in the build?
Thanks mate. All will be revealed on the channel a bit later this year ;) will tell you that we're keeping it in the Lion's Den though.
If you've hung around the channel, now you'll know 😉😂
@@TorqHub ill
Look forward to progress on the vh .
Hi just found this vid and SC is something i'd like to do to my 304 which is also here in WA. Just want to know who did SC install for you. Info would be appreciated. Regards Ricky. VP BT1 304.
Hey Ricky, sorry for the delayed response mate I must've missed this comment. If you're interested in doing something like this but with some more modern technology, I have no issue recommending you speak with Jason Boyer @ CSC Performance about a Harrop 2300 kit mate. Very similar to this 20year old kit... but much better! 🍻
Nice V8 and supercharger , i have to say something about your brakes is that flourescent paint you painted them ? , and they look like VY calipers to me , spend some more cash and pump a couple of thousand into some nice brake upgrades especially with that horsepower ! Has the steering wheel been certified ? , under ADR rules even the non -airbag cars have to be factory steering wheels unless certified , and the Rims they do not look at all like they are the right offset balancing !
Hi Michael,
The ute has a hopper stoppers VT brake upgrade kit which was a requirement for the blower kit being certified. It's more than sufficient for the time being. It's not fluorescent paint, but a very bright yellow.
Never had any dramas with the momo wheel being there. Perhaps they are ADR compliant? Regardless, that will be the least of my worries if the car undergoes further upgrades 😂
The wheels are a factory Holden wheel, so absolutely no issues there.
Thanks for watching mate 👍
Beautiful example. Bit close to that salt water though.
Gotta do what ya gotta do to get the shot ;) haha
Torq Hub Media there wares some wonderful shots of the car. Great photography.
Thankyou sir. Too kind.
Noice
Thanks Richard 👌🏻
304s sound the best, fuck the rest, love the HSV version of the day
Mate have you still got her?
Sure do!
Madd
What camera do u guys use?
Samsung Galaxy S10+ for the most part 😬 😂
Sometimes bring out the GoPro Hero 3+ to mix it up
Torq Hub Media wow didn’t realise Samsung camera quality was so good, would u guys recommend a go pro for a car channel?
I recommend using whatever you've got mate. So long as it films 1080p HD, it will do the job to get you started 👍
Most of the work is in editing.
Torq Hub Media ok thanks heaps
I had a ute like this loved it. It was stolen and crashed into a fence
Heart breaking stuff 😨
@@TorqHub yup. But was a vg commodore ute
Did he go to jail?
@@unprovoked1337 dunno mate cops arrested him then didnt hear nothing back
@travis young that sucks
I had a stock 304 VS S Ute with 5 speed
Sounded so good ! , nothing LS has ever Sounded as good
The old Holden V8 definitely is a fantastic sounding engine mate! Even now, 20 years after the last one left the factory, they are still up there with the best sounding V8 on the planet 💪🏻
Torq Hub Media
Yea fun to drive too because instant torque was available at any rpm. So you could have fun in the street without having to speed
They are not nearly as good as an ls and l prefer the sound and power of my ls3 anyday not even close having said that l still like the old Holden's and their v8 engines
@@johnboy5167 yea ive got a LS1 and it would blow the doors off that 304 and day. im just talking about sound and fun factor , the old utes also had a solid rear axel so they were very taily
Would u ever sell the blower??
I'll probably sell the whole driveline one day. But that's in the distant future
I remember your sweet ass Calais when you were flippin speakers at audiocom 😛
Oof, thats going back a couple of Christmases ago! 😂
@@TorqHub haha many moons, I'm building a HJ tonner in Austro if you guys want to take a look at some point would be good contnent for your channel 👌
didn't no you guys are from Bunbury
😉
Why the 304 over an ls? Had plenty of ls cars but never a 304/308/253. They sound better seems to be the only argument for the choice.
Love the ute makes me want one
Variety is the spice of life mate, and LS just isn't quite my flavour. I know all the reasons why I "should" do that, but with today's pricing if you start from scratch a blower kit is almost the same cost as an LS swap. Im happy leaving an Aussie battler in there, and my VH SL/E will be Holden powered too 😁👌🏻
@@TorqHub iv always wanted an old school holden v8, ill have to make it happen. The holden content your putting out is inspiring me
I have had these engines in the past but I have ls3 engines now and I really don't think the old Holden engines sound any better very similar as far as I am concerned
Sounds so fucking good 👌🏻and what’s the song soundtrack
Thanks man. Which song are you referring to? There's a couple different ones haha
The one which was with this video bc I tryed finding it but couldn’t
The second one I meant
Im pretty sure that one is;
Missive - Andrew Langdon
Do you still own it?
Sure do! 👍🏻
Yeh nice one!
the VS was Holden's best looking ute, id pay good money if they could reproduce these. id pay $300k for one of these before buying a Lamborghini
Big call! Thats alot of cheddar hahaha
Na man don’t touch it it’s too nice 👍
invest in a lapel mic... good video though
Thanks for your feedback. Audio for this one was recorded with a Rode shotgun Mic. Would love to upgrade to some wireless lavaliers in the not too distant future!
Get it away from that salt water ffs 😆
What could possibly go wrong? Lol
Turbos are boring mate, so disappointing to hear her, good work otherwise, keep it up!
Cant say I've heard many people say turbos are boring before! Haha. Horses for courses though, will have a heavy hitting N/A car in the stable also.
It's supercharged dickhead.
@@dylanhood6089 haha so it is, probably pissed at the time, thanks for the compliment though, think I just saw PSI and thought wanker. The hum of a HSV worked 304 is delicious, not sure I am a fan of the whiney biatch supercharger on a 304 though either.
You can't please everyone I guess lol. But sounds like you might get keen about our VH SL/E project and the angry 383 stroker that's going in it lol
@@TorqHub yeah I am a picky prick it seems, I just remember my brother pulling up in his HSV VS Cubby out the front with a well you know what they sound like. I can love an angry 383, wish I didn't sell my old rust fucked WB ute for $800 in the 2000's now, it would've been a great place for that donk to rest mate. I still love your work, don't get me wrong hey, cheers 🍻
