And now Scotty has all 3 of them, Sedan, Wagon and now a Ute. I think deep down he just loves the Mang 😂😂❤❤.
They are like Pokémon, you have to collect them all
Don't worry, we also thought that, all in different colours too. Maybe we need a Statesman too.
@@STREETMACHINETVdefinitely
@@STREETMACHINETV a 304 powered statesman with a harrop blower 🤙👏🔥
im a bit confused wat about the gtr
$4K & that's a bloody clean Holden VS Series II ute! Two things a man needs in his life, a shed & a Holden Ute!
You looked at home in VS Ute Scotty. I reckon if the cameras weren't there, you would have stashed it in your shed! I'm lucky to own 2 VY Utes, a V6 & A V8 and they both get looks. I'm looking forward to this series. I did notice on the runs that the tonneau cover sagged in the back when you got some speed behind you which would have caused drag. I recommend if you can find a hard lid for it if possible.
It definitely sags a bit
Mate, that Ute looks immaculate. Well priced at $4200. You got the best colour in Rubens Mica. Looking forward to this build mate.
That's a clean lookin ute for 4k 👌 Looking forward to this build...
Liking this so far.
Please, please, please dedicate some screen time throughout the build covering the process of getting it engineered. From consultation through to testing. It would be great to go through the experience to see how straightforward it is for anyone who might be considering doing an engine swap as wild as this.
Sorry, that's not really going to be a consideration for the time being
engineering requirements vary from state to state, and engineer to engineer, so there's unfortunately not an easy way to make such a video
A 427TT is going to eclipse the power to weight formula for this car in regards to engineering approval. An aspirated 427 is too big, let alone one with twin spooly bois.
That paint though!
@@Iainkellyis bingo! Very niche topic, and let's be honest... drag challenge contenders aren't worried about engineers lol
No airbox? Get down, Scotty's gone POWER CRAZY!
Thought I misheard when you said $4k. I'm shocked how cheap that is. Can't wait
Soon to be Cleetus McFarlands el camino's "mullet" aussie cousin.😂
May the LS Force be with you Scotty, picked a viewers winner with a twin turbo Commodore Ute. Look forward to watching the Build. This is the way!
Arguably the greatest ute The General ever produced! 😍 and looking shmick in Rubens Red. Great work team, cant wait to see her with a lower altitude, and a proper set of wheels 👌
Wonder if they'd do a similar flavour to the ute you've got and do a blown manual combo? 427, Harrop 2650, and built T56...
@ThatGuy_21 that would be alot more cranky than the flavour of our VS ute! Haha. Not sure a 2650 blown 427 would quite have the mumbo for 7s, might need a big procharger or a 4L blower for that.
I've had 2 VP's with the 5 speed, both had second gear crunch. Fixed both with a really qood quality synthetic gear oil.
I did a single turbo ls1 conversion in my vs ute. All completed in my driveway at home. Thanks to tuff mounts it was a really simple process. You shouldn’t have too many headaches with this one scotty.
My first “brand new” car was a 1998 VSII base model Ute with the V6 and Gretrag box. Optioned up with A/C, tacho dash !
Looks a tidy ute, can't wait for the build, a lot of Aussies can relate👍🏻
A very tidy ute!
Gotta love the Speedo, trip meter, "000000"!😉
An idea Scotty... Everything that comes off the ute, recycle it into repowering the Torana, while waiting on the okay for the Hemi!!
Looks like this would have been a factory 3 seater Ute with a manual based on the hand break location off to the RHS of the driver’s seat. That’s a pretty rare combo. Someone has converted it to the standard centre console. Looking forward to the build series Scotty! 💪👌👌
Correct
That's pretty cool I was wondering why it had that random cut out there
I had a vg commodore 3 seater manual setup the same😊
I was about to comment this but you beat me to it haha
Looks in great condition for $4k!
You guys have finally seen the light…..weight option. Should be 1340ish kg stock
I reckon it will be more than that close to 1400kgs I reckon VLs weigh about 1300-1350
Will be following this one closely, currently building a twin turbo hz tonner with a Warspeed heart/ dart block 388. Hopefully see you on the track one day 👍🏻
Ahh that clutch squeak takes me back
Awesome thanks for the video.
gosh i wish I was able to play with a dyno all the time so much fun content you can make, I love the colour of this ute, its going to be a beast when you are done
Assuming that the 3800 V6 in rear drive configuration retains the small bell housing from the 60 * engines, the all aluminum LS4 ( 5.3 ) found in ( USA spec at least ) front drive cars has the same small bell housing.
The only real issue with such a swap is the LS4 does not have a spot for a starter mount, the starter is bolted to the transmission.
The channel LS4 King has info for front drive stuff and got together with Moroso to make a low mount starter / oil pan conversion.
Interesting to know
Nice, so are you saying that the LS4 could theoretically just bolt straight upto the original manual gearbox in this ute?
I have the original T5 manual from my 94 VR ute which came with the Buick 3800 and it bolted straight upto my L67 swap.
Can’t wait to watch this build progress. Looks like a great starter that old VS, well done
Cool looking forward to seeing the build and results
Excellent!!!! Good viewing ahead
Nice purchase. Looking forward to this one
This excited me cant wait to see you get into this one awesome project!
Love it can't wait to see this series
Had the pleasure of taking the photos of this car at grays.Immediately recognised the car from the thumbnail. I had to jump it 3 times tough, the engine would cut out after 100ms
Interesting, Car ran drove fine for us
Hey Scotty another Awesome video cant wait to see this thing rip keep up the good work👍
Great vid bro thanx'
Should be a beast of a build. Great work.
Looking forward to this build. I would have liked to see new straps for the dyno, 113 kW. Take it seriously.
Really excited for this one Scotty! I just know it's going to be both a headache and a joy hahaha, keep up the great work that you do mate!
I am SOOO happy!!!
Hell yes - awesome Scotty, I am SO looking forward to this!!!
Hey Scotty awesome project this is going to be can’t wait to see it unfold!
Would definitely be interested in some parts out of the ute when you strip it down
Love it I’m looking forward to this build
I can't believe you got such a clean ute for $4k!
finally one for the ute boys and girls!
pretty good deal for 4k these days, looks pretty straight.
Absolute steal for $4k, probably because no roadworthy cert.
What a weapon! Keen to see what you do with it!
Great content, keep up the great work
Can't wait to see this build. It must've felt like you could've walked faster on that quarter mile after running low 8's in the mx5 the other week 😂
It does a bit
@@STREETMACHINETV put the mx5 running gear into the ute haha
Awesome!!! Can't wait
Yes yes yes. This is the content i come here for. Can't wait to see what comes of the new car.
I can’t wait to see this project develop. I love Aussie Utes, I wish we had them here in England.
Good luck Scotty
You do have some, just need to know where to look
Oh ffs, obviously I should have been clearer. They were never produced here or officially imported as a car for the UK market. Yes there a few here, but they were never developed or intendend for European markets.
thats a beautiful example , specially for a v6
Hell yes! Just bought a vs Ute and have some plans for it.
Thats a really clean example! Also the colour looks like my old Caprice colour. Alchemy
$4.5k … that’s a good bargain. Now the VH-K-L’s are starting to get out of everyone’s price range, the VR/S are the next to pop ❤
Great choice Scotty , I've always liked the shape of that series ute , Rob Vickerys TT build was a ripper in the day .
That’s about right for weight
I’ve got a Vs ute 2000 model
With a fg turbo Barra in it and it comes in at 1250kg on a weigh bridge
Best 1 yet 🎉
Can't believe you got this for 4K Scotty !! It's really clean and tidy for that price, I really miss my VS/5 speed ute, had to sell it because I got re-trenched, very sad day :(
Sorry to hear that mate, nobody should have to give up their car
I've had my VS Series 3 ute for nearly 15 years, pretty much stock mang auto, could've upgraded to something newer in that time but I've grown to love it too much.
This ones going to be awesome just like the wagon🤘😎
@STREETMACHINETV. Scotty that colour is a VS Series 3/VT colour. Shitloads of Statesman/Caprice came in that colour as they continued producing VS utes/statesmans until 2000 if I'm not mistaken. With only the VT Sedan/wagon released in 1997. The long wheelbase ute/statesman wasn't released until the VU update. Someone will correct me if I'm wrong. Cant BF googling it
Rubens Red 😍
Colour looks to be either Reuben's Red or maybe Granada Mica ( I think Calais, Stato colour ), lovely colour whatever it is.
Personally ( much like the Red VN Berlina you "did up" ) I would prefer to see a nice, clean looking vehicle being sympathetically kept in good original nick, but whatever floats ya boat mate, all the best. A real nice starter ute there.
Bring it on Scotty, Looking forward to this. Let's get the VS To Street Machine Drag Challenge.
First time here...following. awesome video
Poor old Aussie icon. That is about to get hammered 😂. In a different way. 🏎️💨
love it!!!
Love these utes 👌🏽
Damn that thing is clean!
unleaded $1.65 a litre, seems so long ago.
Also, how excited is Lance at HPR watching the ute. Man I love his love of racing.
How can ya not long a mang that does a 15.7 stock! extractors, exhaust, intake and tyres, and ya going 14's! MANG LOVE!
That makes for $ 6.60 AU a " gallon " = $ 4.30 USD , and people in the US are still complaining about anything over $ 3.00 a G .
@@bobroberts2371 and that's what it WAS, now it's $2.00 a litre for standard 91RON
@@DaveHiggoHiggins That would be $ 5.16 USD .. Fuel in the USA could be $ 2 USD a G and some would still complain refusing to accept how good they have it in the USA.
Great build
I love the colour of that ute. Nicely picked
looking forward to it !!!!!!
Cant wait this gonna be awesome scotty
Looks nice mate should be a good project!
Love the look on HOLDEN COMMODORE VS UTE looking good classic car ❤
Can't wait, this should be good!
That will become even more tail happy... excellent
sick, keen as
Haha wish I'd seen that at the auctions, she's a bloody nice old girl already and would have been great with the manual (if you didnt use second)...
Looking forward to the next chapter! :)
Didn't know they made a 4wd version of a VS ute!! 😁
Seriously, it's the first one I've seen in 20 years that's not lowered.
It's pretty high
Actually would be cool to see with a lift kit, rally spec ute would be different to see lol
If you are going to bin the springs, I'll happily use them in my vs ute.
Country pack or some name like that for those springs.
damn it, this is faster than my new 86!
You know what they say Scotty, “if you can’t find them grind them” 😂 In all seriousness really looking forward to this build, I’m not even mad about stripping the box from the mx5. Shout out to HPR and Maxx Performance for helping make these cool videos happen 👍👍👍
Looks like it was originally a 3 seater model that someone's converted to bucket 2 seater. Handbrake location gives that away. They've done not a bad job at it though, as they have put correct radio and A/C surrounds for a 2 seater centre console model. Paint looks good too. Whoever had it before went to a bit of work to customize it for themself
It's definitely not original. Even the engine number was different
So glad it's not a 6 this time :P
Love your work scotty, can't wait!
Time for some grunt V8 goodness
Very nice 👍
My 94 VR ute came factory with a very very dark purple. In the shade it looks black but in bright sunlight you can see the purple. Looks so nice with a polish but planning on upping the purple bext re-spray
going to be ripper build Scotty , looking forward to updates
That thing looks decent for the money Scotty! I'm not really a fan of commodores, but I'm keen to watch this build, see it unfold, and see if it can get into the 7's.
I'm surprised with how light the weighbridge reckons it is!
another amazing series about to happen. taking the quintessential aussie working ute and turning it into a party machine. can't wait scotty
Those sounds bring back memories. I brought a brand new one from Geoff Bradys back in 99👍
Great to see the ute keeping it aussie as ! There quite respectable figures std for the ute, considering its just the work ute.
Good project Scotty, us LS guys have suffered enough barra bs, good to have something everyone will enjoy!
We decided to spread the love ❤️
@@STREETMACHINETV and we love you even more for it
Very strait for 4000. Nice
4K that’s a steal!!
It's big, it's purple and from the 90's. Project Barney
Banger!
I'm impressed with the stock performance (and your driving skills). Can't wait to see this come together with a much more angry powertrain.
Thanks mate
Surprised by how light it is also...lsd was farked so had more it it too.
Very light, might need to put something in the back, for the track👾About the same same as an XT GT, XR did 16+🏁
looking at this ute. reminding me of my days on the assembly line at elizabeth. when this was built i was on the wheel aligner and headlight aim. (both done in the same station). honestly ls twin turbo nice. but i would want to go with the period holden V8 and turbo that up. anyway im gonna love this build.
Loy of love fir the iron lion but I don't think it'll do what we want
I like it!
The best model and all 😉 The VS is the pinnacle of style haha 🙃 Pitty it's not a 5L though 😞
That colour is beautiful
Thats a tidy ute, im not a fan of LS but will still be watching because you're a top bloke and your video's are great.
The ute didnt look centred on the weight bridge, i wonder if that affected the reading.
It's possible that threw it out. It's out by 80kg
@@STREETMACHINETV well it wasn't far off then.
You can double clutch when changing up, clutch in and shift to neutral, let the clutch out and back in with the revs lower to slow the box, and then into the next gear. Takes longer, but works around the street. This'll be a cool project Scotty
Works around the streets but no good at the strip
I got a VS UTE Universal Holden Commodore 98 love it ❤️❤️😘 I'm gonna keep it for ever
Thanks Scot
Twin turbo LS build!!! Please go 427! 🎉
427 Dart block
