Yep damn. Another VS lets goooooo! On another note, damn stop smoking please (unless you like to, you do you) Love how its a real deal no holding back content so much. You beauty. Good watch for Sunday.
Thanks man, im probably not going to stop smoking but i will try and just not film myself with one lol i didnt even realise until after i filmed it. At this stage im not planning on painting the tank only because you dont see it for now i just wanted to get it running and get it back together for now.
@@vautorefinishing7672 All good man you're a legend honestly! My VL has broken down 3 times due to bad fuel because it doesn't get driven much, I would love to clean the inside of it once and for good is my interest. Always keeping an eye out for a video and update on you. Commcar in Reservoir have a fair bit of parts, gaurds are everywhere. I nearly got new guards $500 each, new bonnet $1500, but looked at the money and Im saving it for now, but would save prep time and straight panels. Let us know how you go lining the panels up especially the bonnet catcher if anything, cheers!
Great project mate. If your tank gives you grief you can fit a vu ute tank in with a bit of perimeter trim, heat, dolly and hammer to the tank. These run the vt -vz style pump. The vy2 and vz tank fuel tank gauge reads the same way as vs. Vt vy1 reads backwards. I've done this in my vs ute. The vs ute tank surge swirl pot rots out and driving below 1/4 tank Ute's cut out around corners. Common problem. The vs 99 and 20000 or series 3 come with the "vt" 5.0 roller motor and have the maf sensor. Yours seems to be the vn -vs series 2 type 5.0 Either way, still going to make some good noise and paint lines up the road.
Thanks for the info mate very helpful! So the ute must have had an engine swap at some point then? Thanks for the comment mate appreciate the helpful info and knowledge
@@vautorefinishing767299 still had the flat tappet engine. Some time late 99 and into 2000 they got the roller cam. I've had 2 roller cam 2000 models and a earlier may 99 eith the old style
good effort. I wish i had the shed space. I picked up a 97 vs ute. Had hit a roo plus flogged. all the running gear is now fixed/replaced. Just got the body to touch up and some small annoying issues. Not going to be a show car but something to enjoy. cant take two kids to school on the motorbike so a 3 seater will do the job :)
Good on ya for saving the old VS, they are great utes. Ive owned two VS utes previously and am rebuilding a VG commy ute at the moment. Definately looks to be a bit of a bitsa, as others said I'd guess it was a V6 originally going by the trim etc, and not having the roller motor in it. I dont think you'll regret it if you give the whole thing a flick to freshen it up.
Yeah never had any plans of keeping it but im starting to like it, yeah now that im reading comments and checking things out on it, it is a bitsa and your spot on the money
Nice brother, always good to get a project running!! You bought the same 4 head Chicago as I did, 150lt tank, please do an honest review of it as you go because mine as I said in a previous comment was very underwhelming!!! 🤷♂️🤷♂️
Yeah i was stoked to get it running mate , makes you keen to do something then. Yeah im interested to see how it goes and i may do a review as im goin as well with what i think of it, i havent given it a workout yet
Maybe its had a knock to the front 2 different front guards and the bar has calais or ss fog lights. Looks a good base. While doing the vacuuming play some music instead of having it just quiet. Anyways overall a mint project 🤙
Just found this in my feed. Looks like a great project. Be interested to know where you found and picked it up from. Look forward to future content, cheers
Bro, good to see you still have the two old girls. I'll be keeping a look out for more content. Don't be afraid to add some background music. Look up iorn empier very similar to this sort of content. Maybe give you some ideas when it comes to editing. Keep it coming great job👍
Wow took me a second to realise who this was , hope all is well bro! Yeah still have the old girls mate just havent had time to get in to them just yet. I do actually watch iron empire i just do all this on my phone im not smart enough for all the fancy editing 😂 How did you find me on here? Haha what a spin out hope you and the family are doing well mate cheers 🤙🏼
You just popped up. Like everything, bro, it detests what I watch. I had to look twice at first. I have seen some video's and thought they looked like you🤣. Fam is good. I hope all is well on your end. Good to see you're still at it, mate. I'll keep watching👍
If it is indeed a genuine VS series 3 5.0, then it should have the roller cam sequential injected engine, which has totally different engine covers, intake etc.
They're nice utes. In the shed now - unplanned - but move forward. Worst is in the cab, eh. I'm pretty sure you'll end up blowing paint over the whole thing if I know you at all. Those hoses are for the tranny cooling. That fuel pump was pretty bloody 2nd hand! Cheers
Thanks Don, yeah im leaning that way to just give it a complete blow over to tidy it right up. Yeah id say when the radiator was removed theyve just been joined together to prevent it leaking, will get it sorted when i sort out a radiator for it. Defiantely had seen better days thats for sure haha cheers Don!
This is a bit of a bitsa. The trim and black mirrors suggest its a base model ute. From what I can see, it is not a VM prefix engine and the engine number will most likely be a VU. That means it's out of an older model (not a 99 engine). The BT1 cluster, dual airbags and ABS suggest it's an ex police ute. It looks like it says BT1 on the build plate also. It looks like it says LG2 (Ecotec) as the engine code on the plate suggesting it is a factory V6 but couldnt see it properly (LB9 is V8). Should clean up OK but 👍
14:45 do a stato front? Looks great Some action shots be gr8, even if its speed up. Your not ugly but i dont need to see you this much lol😂. Anyway bud, just some food fot thought. Thimbs up!!
Haha, fk that was funny, just bought another project myself today.. when you said it my misses said “that’s you” 😂 😂 Keep the vids coming, enjoying the channel.. we needed to see some of that slowmo power washing of the ute like old Puddins Fab Shop does 😂 Oh yeah I agree, try and get off those ciggys if you can mate, it’s the worst way to go when it catches up with ya 👍
Haha yeah and i wonder why i cant finish anything 😅😂 glad im not the only one mate I dont know if i can make the slo mo power washing look as good as ol puddin does 😂 Yeah i know mate hard habit to kick when its been years

If you end up refinishing the fuel tank, that might be a worthwhile video for your channel because it will be the real deal style.

Nice one! 5 litre VR-VS utes are pretty popular now, interested in future uploads
Yeah they are a bit of a popular thing which is why i think it might be good to get it pretty tidy and fixed up

Hahahahaha you should do it.
It has some features of an ex cop car the dash cluster the front bumper the interior..... but they did always remove the side trims so i dont know

Thought i was talking about myself for a sec loll😂😂😂

Awesome, think i seen this one on marketplace?
those seats are police pack seats with no bolstering
