I use both in the saltwater. My spinning rods are more useful and I use them for light jigs and weedless soft plastics, and the baitcasters are good for heavier jigs and other lures. Spinning is better for casting out live bait or cut bait and letting it sit while I cast some kind of artificial.

Taking your cast control knobs off is a terrible idea. 1) leaving the spool bearing exposed like that is going to result in dirt getting in it or water rusting it out. 2) the max loosest you want that knob is where you can barely feel the spool move side to side; by discarding the knob all together, you're going to get a lot of side to side play which will reduce your distance, not increase it.

It also depends on body position . Sitting in a kayak or a person pontoon , float tube You get less fatigued using bait casters. Spinning rigs in those situations cause you to constantly hold he rod in a more elevated position.. walk-in the super spook with spinning gear is very comfortable when you standing.

I like this video. Especially talking about people putting other fishers down. Fishing can be done successfully with a bamboo pole and 3 feet of line. The modern convenience of reels, lines, lures, boats, kayaks and more are all amazing and fun to talk about and use but don't let anyone act like you aren't doing it right because "right" is incredibly suggestive and in reality 9/10 times they are just trying to show off their money.

Lures won’t sink slower in the water using a bait caster because if you want you lure to sink it’s best to let it sink on a slack line. If you let your lire sink on a tight line for either spinning or bait caster the lure will pendulum toward you.

This is false. You can finesse fish using a bait caster. It’s all about the setup and adjusting your drag. Example you can 100% finesse with a medium lower fast action rod and a bait caster like shimano 7:5:1. Pro anglers finesse fish in tournaments with baitcasters all the time.

That is the craziest line I've ever heard...he must be a fisherman. There is zero control between different weight lures without that knob to control the spool. You click that trigger and if your thumb ain't on the spool with that knob off, you are looking at a birds nest from hell.
EDIT: He took the knob off the black bait caster as well! If you pause the video at 0.46 you can clearly see he took the knob off as well on this reel as well.

@@Tackle2thePeople You're hurting your distance by doing that. At the loosest, you want to barely feel that spool move side to side. The more that spool moves side to side, the more forward momentum you're losing. Not to mention there is nothing now keeping dirt or water out of that bearing. Even worse for distance than side to side movement is a rusted or dirty bearing.
