Graham, I just wanted to say thank you for all that you do for your community. Personally, as someone who is just starting out on this journey, I am so grateful for your videos/podcast. You’re a great coach on this topic. Once I am up and running, and can afford it, I will definitely look forward to being one of your students. Keep up the great work!
Oh Graham 😭🤗 I really love your belief that destiny, momentum isn’t created OR destroyed overnight. Hearing you say all that brought a feeling of deep peace and relief in my chest and belly, rather than my debilitating anxious high pressure paralysing terror filled belief that single right or wrong decisions and actions determine a life of success or failure! My tear ducts work a little toooo well! Wow. This could change everything for me from here on. Thank you and God bless! 😭❤️
Graham, I'm moving. I'm moving slowly because I don't know why, but I'm building and I'm getting clients. They're trickling in, but it's a slow and steady growth. I have a huge learning curve with technology and video editing, formating, etc.. It's taking time, but it's my journey and I honor that. We all have to start somewhere. And Graham, you're the guy I look to for lighthouse guidance. Your experience, faith and struggles give me confidence in knowing that I can trust that your words mimic my true north. I'm grateful to God for you being out there because your approach resonates with me, your logic, all of it. It's taking me 3 months to do 1/3 of your 30 day guide, but it's coming. It's coming. Godspeed, brother!
I'm in the same boat re: online business, but will not stop. To give myself credit (which I've recently learned I rarely did in the past) I have also made great strides in other areas of my life, specifically meditation, and organizing my music catalog for the industry contacts I'm researching to get my music licensing efforts to the next level. The online business is percolating and developing slowly but surely. WON'T STOP. But now know to structure myself to avoid burnout and frustration thanks to THIS video @grahamcochrane !!
Of the three negatives, after thinking about it honestly, my worst one would be working all the time. I used to be up at 6AM and in my office until 11PM, with a few breaks for eating or watching one TV show with my wife; that sort of thing. Then I successfully changed to not going in until 9AM, but I still work sporadically all day and night - intending to quit at 5PM but never do. The result is I don't focus well on work. Somehow knowing I have 12 or more hours to do what I gotta do, just makes me spend more time checking Facebook or email or whatever. If I could frighten myself into knowing the boss (me) will turn off the lights and lock the office door at 5:01, I think I would be more apt to focus on work, and get more done.
Thanks for your honest comment. You're spot on about having more time makes you a little lazier in how you manage your time. Parkinson's Law is crucial with this.
Oh man, all of these hit so close to home... I have clear financial and audience goals in mind/set and have had them for a while. I've achieved my first set goals and currerntly working on the next ones. However, imposter syndrom still kicks in and refuses to let me believe that I am successful. I think that I'm not only afraid of losing momentum, but fearful of gaining momentum and feeling as though I won't be able to handle major success
Needed to hear a lot of this! I've had a creative block lately, trying to write and produce my music. Always loved your content man, and it's helped me a lot over the past 4 years or so!
Everyone talks about the positives, but not so often are the negatives discussed! I can completely relate to now being able to assess if and how much you’re growing. You really have to take a step back often, and be like “I’m really proud of myself for staying consistent, replying to all my comments, and taking time for learning more about how to be a better business owner” etc
Really taking time to pause is as important as going for the goal! Glad you've had those moments for yourself too. Also, I've seen you have some awesome content going, how is it so far?
I would love to hear a podcast about how was your journey to delegating. I mean, i’ve following you from a long time from the recording revolution to this channel and i’ve seen your growth, i don’t know exactly when you did it but for example, one day i sent you an email and someone else responded, you responded quickly after that, obviously at that point you had some else working with you. When was that point? I’ve even reached the 6 figures mark already all been a solopreneur. In your experience, when did you started to let other people in? How did you do it? Which parts of the business did you delegate and which you kept doing yourself. I think it is a good topic, because a lot of entrepreneurs want to do ALL the work, no one can get into this, my little precious! Haha! Pd: good podcast today, already got it from apple podcast. Pd2: sorry if I had a bad english, I’m from latinoamerica
Hey Graham, thank you for showing that some of the challenges for me is real for all in this boat. Clear goals are the one that is challenging just because so much is still unclear. But I am committed to the journey.
James Clear wrote, you are only as good as your systems. Build your systems to work for you and you will never need to break your momentum without burning out.
I'm new to this. Have had a steep learning curve over the past few weeks because putting my usual f2f courses online seems the natural step to take due to the pandemic. Enjoy all the videos I've seen so far - very supportive and informative. Following your downloads and wise words. Starting small just covering your basic needs is such a relief to hear. The truth you present in your videos about this business makes you feel it is possible to make a living. Thank you
Thank you, Graham.. found you just an hour ago. It's 1am.. I haven't slept in 2 days from my mind racing with ideas and how to put an online course. During a weekend haven't really seen my family 🤦♀️ So true about working all the time and not feeling that I'm reaching anywhere.. yet..
I never made a financial goal but you helped me immediately realize I have to have a target when trying to start an online business and defining clear work hours is another huge thing that I think will change the game for me.
GRAHAM hello my brother...Working all the time is something I'm addicted to..Im a service ESL teacher but today you opened my mind and will make changes in my work pattern ...I'm for taking a few days off weekly and fewer hours working and spending time with familia and helping others more...thank you for your valuable information and time shared with us...your experiences have helped me..your a blessing to many ..may God use you more!! your brother
Very solid and needed at this time. In terms of manifesting and energy allocation, the first two are so vital. The third is critical to make sure the energy behind the effort is healthy and from a good foundation. The last is to remember that if it’s for you it will not escape you. If you want it too much or put it on a pedestal you can increase the “coefficient of friction.”
Graham, 1st the fact that you have 104 "likes" and ZERO-Nada-Zilch "dislikes" speaks volumes. THANK YOU for this beautiful master-class of a video which also inadvertently gave me an additional idea for another content/post/blog (I'm still piecing together what my online biz will be - your 30-day plan is taking me over 60 now, but I promise I WON'T STOP. Much love, Gil
PS hope I didn't jinx 😆. 20 minutes after reading all the replies (helpful as well) I noticed a dislike came in. I guess naysayers are always part of the human equation, huh? I LOVE what you do. Thank you again.
Thank you very much, it is a gift to find this type of material on social networks, one of the most important things is to realize that there is always someone else in your position and could succeed.
i found your videos a couple days ago and ive been burning through your content , when im ready to launch my kajabi ill be using your link and this video was legit because you arent glamming it up like most people do This is real talk that they dont like to talk about and i appreciate it!
Thank you for this video. I experience all that. The most challenging part is to realise I literally work from the moment I wake up to the moment I go to bed, 7 days a week, with almost no results. Online Businesses seem more fair and liberating, but sadly it's always the same story: those with money can just hire people and this problems won't exist.
Brilliant video man - I've been working on an online business for over 2 years. Made some good money, but can totally relate to that need to work all the time. And it has lead to burnout recently (and I probably haven't realised it). This pandemic has made me step back and re-evaluate everything, hopefully for the better!
Thanks Graham. You're a miracle to people like me. Thanks for always sharing of yourself. Every bit of what I have seen, heard and practised from you have been a life saver. Thanks always. I had to stay late till almost 1 am to be able to listen to this. Thanks again my 4
Really, you should start a business not entirely because it'll make you more figures, but because there *really* is a unfulfilled answer to a market that you can't live without that answer being unfulfilled. Businesses are started to answer problems to a market, not to fulfill people's own ego, generally speaking.
Thanks for always sharing such valuable information with us Graham! I'm determined to start a mixing and mastering online business this year and your tips about setting up clear financial goals, client goals, and working hours really helped set a clear vision in mind. Thanks again!
Fellow Tampa native 🤙🏽 😊 I haven’t started yet but this is the month I am going to start. Recently lost my job and stumbled upon your videos. I’m glad I did, you are very inspiring. Because of you I am now hopeful. I’d say the things I didn’t think of that would help out the most is setting the target goals like you suggested. Such as the monthly minimum/maximum. Or target audience goals. Things being up in the air tend to stay there. It’s little things like that that I didn’t think to do. But now realize they are essential and very important when starting out. Thank you again for everything so far. Maybe one day I’ll run into you and be able to thank you in person, maybe even be your student :) Keep it going! You’re needed more than you know 🫶🏽
Thanks Graham, even though this video is 2yrs old, it is still so current and extremely helpful for me! I'm loving your content and am listening to all your videos. I found you about a week ago! Yaaay! I love and appreciate your honest, gentle manner. Thanks for generously giving so much guidance and help. I appreciate you. With Thanks from S.Africa! xx
Hey Nicolas, as a business owner myself I think that this would be a good topic to talk about. I'd definitely publish one for this. Also, if I could make a video that could help you, what would it be about?
Graham I have to tell you, you are helping a lot of people. I have learned a lot of these ideas through watching businesses prosper and fail. The other way I learned was, 7 habits of highly effective people. A great book for someone to just live their life by. I am a marketer by trade. But I want to help people too. So that’s why I am writing a small ebook and it will be my hook for my subscription service. This service will hopefully help people to see life in a more manageable way. “How do you eat an elephant?” This is how I take my everyday work and online business, “one bite at a time.” Don’t get discouraged. We are there for everyone. Blessed Be/|\
Yes to a cruise Graham! I’ve been working on cruises for past 1.5 years before this pandemic. My world turned upside down so Now want to set up an online business. But yes let’s go on a cruise!!
I took a 7 week vacation back in the fall of 2018. Towards the tail-end of my trip I took a 13 day transatlantic cruise (my first cruise, nothing like jumping into the deep end). I bought an internet package so I could make required contributions in my classroom discussion board and submit my work-in-progress to my chair. Otherwise, I would not have bought it. I agree 99% of cruise-goers don't need internet access.
Very helpful information for me. I have to downvote the cruise idea, not a personal favorite. However, I'd love to hear more detail, and maybe a series, on how not to overwork for yourself. Ideas along that vein that others don't cover in relation to managing a business include the science behind body and mind rest and restoration andhow productivity declines without it, the humanity of efficiency (versus the robots of it). Blessings!
Sorry...one more question: Now that you have (at least) two distinct businesses going, how does that work with scheduling? Do you work on both of them every workday doing similar tasks for both, or do you devote one day to RecRev, the next to GC, etc., or is your workflow driven by what needs to be done, which I would think might lead to blurring of boundaries and ending up working constantly. I'd love to hear more about this. Thanks again!
27:30 How expensive is living in the US? I live in a good quality house in Finland, and my rent is about 600$. My monthly bills are about 300$ a month, and I spend about 150$ to buy groceries, so my minimum is just 1050$/mo.
That's amazing. It's pretty expensive in most places in the US but you certainly can live on a budget if you're willing to move to a lower priced area.
@@GrahamCochrane There are probably more opportunities in there, so that could compensate for the higher expenses. I hope speaking English in my future content levels the playing field somewhat. Currently filming my first content video ever, let's see what happens!
Not sure if anyone took you up on this, but I'll take you up on your cruise offer. 😂🙋♂️Thank you for being a straight forward, wise counsel for start-up entrepreneurs. These have been more helpful than you know.
Thank you, I’m just starting and would love for you to be my coach. Just got my EIN # that’s it lol now you the next day. I’m at the right place and right time now Graham. God bless you
I'm going crazy trying to understand sales taxes laws, especially when you sell online courses. You have lots of experience selling courses. Maybe that could be a good subject for one of your videos.
That was very helpful! I am FINALLY, at long, bloody last, poised to begin working full-time on launching my own business...well, two different businesses now since a new idea recently surfaced, since I have just been relieved of the mild nuisance of having to pretend to be working from home at a day job that had very little to it at the office prior to the COVID lockdown. I found the guidance about being disciplined at keeping consistent business hours and boundaries especially helpful, as my natural inclination is to do exactly as you described leading up to that. Also, as a creative professional, I am sure you get flooded with great new ideas all the time. Do you have any tips or techniques for how to capture them to flesh out later without letting it derail you from what you are working on at the time? I’ve been getting much better recently at navigating unexpected disruptions and not letting them completely throw me off, but am still having trouble with resisting getting sidetracked by new ideas that may or may not be directly related to the thing I am trying to get off the ground. Thank you very much! P.S. I am working through the 30-day Jumpstart guide, adapting it to both of my business ideas.
Nobody tells you how to do your business online, what to do, and when to do it. You keep yourself accountable. Unless you get a mentor that is very successful and willing to help you
Graham thank you for all your content, it's amazing. Gotta question for you, what platform do you use to send email newsletter from TheRecordingRevolution? and how do you do it so it doesn't go in the promotions tab. I'm currently using Mailchimp paid version, using plane text emails, only one link, without emojis and still going on promotions tab, it's so frustrating. I would appreciate your help!
We're using ConvertKit for Recording Revolution email. Solid platform. But it's hard not to have emails go into promotions tab. You have to train your people to hopefully move them to main inbox.
@@GrahamCochrane Interesting, so the reason I'm getting your emails in the inbox tab could be because I moved one of them in the past. Thank you so much for you answer.
Graham I'll come on cruise with you as long your paying! Joke aside - Love your video and course - I followed step by step your automatic income academy course - I think I gone through each video or worksheet twice! - This week I am launching my first product after working hard for two months - I cannot wait to see the results - I know it won't be easy but I am pushing hard. Any way I just wanted to say thank you for inspiration. :)
THANK YOU SO MUCH! That really inspires me!!! Ím quite scared that my course wońt sell, im at 3.4K subs in a good niche but otherwise just lost my job etc,m thank you for your great videos man yoúre really helping me !!!
Have you ever heard of these UA-cam channels called Coffeezilla and Mark Winnet? He calls out a lot of "contrepreneurs" who are making money off of courses falsely promising that "you'll make 10K a month if you follow these steps" and stuff like that.
Wtf ? the minimum is 2 000 ?! I love Americans xD I currently live with less than 500€/Month, and I live in a prettier house than half of the people (which I pay for).

LOVE the comment about how big dreams tend to discourage from small goals. I’ve learned that lesson the hard way over years, but it’s very, very true.

Of the three negatives, after thinking about it honestly, my worst one would be working all the time.
Great question. I devote different days to each. Makes it easier for me to stay focused.
This is GOLD. Thank you for everything you said in this video.
You're so welcome!
All of this is SO true
I almost teared up. Been on medical leave from my job for 2 months because of burnout.
Hope you are recuperating, and recharging your internal battery. Meditation is a beautiful tool.
Oh man - sorry to hear that. Hope and pray you can recover and come back healthier and stronger.
You are wonderful and this videos was very helpful. Thank you!
Glad it was helpful!
Not sure if anyone took you up on this, but I'll take you up on your cruise offer. 😂🙋♂️Thank you for being a straight forward, wise counsel for start-up entrepreneurs. These have been more helpful than you know.
Appreciate it Kevin! I'm not even kidding about that cruise 😂
Jumpstart guide works super easy to follow, just take action to win.
15:15 Yes to more work/life balance content. I don't know how to switch it off...
Yes its important
This video is sooo real!
I just drop ideas into my notes app on my phone and come back later to flesh them out.
Nobody tells you how to do your business online, what to do, and when to do it. You keep yourself accountable. Unless you get a mentor that is very successful and willing to help you
I needed to hear this
You should've paint thee wall dark and filmed during the nighttime. That way, you can speak in the "Dark Side" ;)
😂😂😂
I'll consider doing this on my channel.
Great stuff
Wish I could be so professional on camera xxx
Graham I'll come on cruise with you as long your paying! Joke aside - Love your video and course - I followed step by step your automatic income academy course - I think I gone through each video or worksheet twice! - This week I am launching my first product after working hard for two months - I cannot wait to see the results - I know it won't be easy but I am pushing hard. Any way I just wanted to say thank you for inspiration. :)
Yessss! Cheering you on and keep me posted on your results.
THANK YOU SO MUCH! That really inspires me!!! Ím quite scared that my course wońt sell, im at 3.4K subs in a good niche but otherwise just lost my job etc,m thank you for your great videos man yoúre really helping me !!!
Glad it was helpful!
Cruising is my love language 😂
😉
Way to go putting God and Family over business👋👋👋👋👋
15:23 email sent to you.😃😎
Man, friction! That’s where I’m at! By the way, the people want more Nacho Libre impressions!
Noted🤣
Graham Cochrane 😂😂😂
Have you ever heard of these UA-cam channels called Coffeezilla and Mark Winnet? He calls out a lot of "contrepreneurs" who are making money off of courses falsely promising that "you'll make 10K a month if you follow these steps" and stuff like that.
Seen one video from Coffeezilla. Very interesting stuff.
Even those lying about blogging course. Almost all of them sell courses on how to start a blog!😜
Wtf ? the minimum is 2 000 ?! I love Americans xD I currently live with less than 500€/Month, and I live in a prettier house than half of the people (which I pay for).
