works great. i love that it has stainless steal pot inside ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxG-7WiT7ocumjytOpHDFt632PL0pxXRAg and not the one with coating. we used to have a coated pot before, and the coating slowly peels, and i am sure went into the food that we cooked. Absolutely love stainless steel, and will not use a coated product again. This pot has many settings and many buttons, and i need to sit down with a manual to figure out which setting to use. I used the basic functions, and even though i am not technologically skilled, i turned it on and assembled it without any help.Very satisfied with this product overall.
Love our Instant Pot. It’s so easy the kids make dinner 3 nights a week. Following you has saved our family hundreds of hours in the kitchen. Thank you!
Thanks for stopping by and we love how easy these boxed side dishes are in the Instant Pot. That's great that your kids can help make dinner!
Great ideas. Here's a tip: when you add the packet mix, add the powder before the noodles. Makes it easier to mix it into the meat without the noodles in the way. Also, I used to be a fan of hamburger helper. Now I just make my own. It's cheaper to skip the box and just use noodles and beef broth and mix into your meat. Tastes the same but is healthier. To thicken stir in a slurry of corn starch. You can add onions and mushrooms to your hamburger if you want. Or fresh spinach at the end.
What seasoning do u use to make the "powder"
Hi Christine. Thanks for sharing your ideas. They are so helpful.
You're welcome. I steal a lot of your ideas. Thank you!
The powder is just the beef flavor. So if you use beef broth instead of water you don't need any extra seasonings in my opinion. I do add salt and pepper and you could use onion and garlic powder if you like it. I like to just add onions and garlic to the meat while it's cooking.
@@christinesexton939 Hmmm, i like the lasagna flavor and that's not beef flavoring, I'm all for being frugal but not sure how I'd create the seasoning for that.
I just finished organizing my pantry and can see everything from a glance. This video could not have come at a more helpful time! I have my proteins lined up for this weeks dinners, now I know what to fix for side dishes using my Instant Pot! I am excited!! Thank you so much!
Hi Patricia. You are so welcome and thanks for stopping by.
I thank all you guys for showing us how to use our Instant Pots. You guys are always showing us great stuff to cook in our new cookers. I really appreciate you effort. To repay you all I found a great trick to keep our pots like new. It really simple. All you do is once you scrub to pot out add a table spoon of lemon and lime juice to the bottom. Then using paper towel smear it around. The stains just vanish. Thanks again pretty ladies.
You are so welcome and thanks for stopping by. Great idea on cleaning stains from our Instant Pots.
Making Mac & Cheese in my pressure cooker is my 25 year old son's new favorite thing to make thanks to your video! 😁
Does all the water evaporate?
@@Karelife - almost all of it, yes.
I always sautee the Rice-A-Roni in butter first.makes it less soggy
@@crystalh450 Nice!! I was wondering if the saute function would help you get those brown pieces of vermicelli that I'm used to with Rice-a-Roni.
Sautéed after it cooks or before?
@@dmitryclarke2127 , before it cooks
I just did the delux kraft mac n cheese with that squeeze cheese pouch! Added a little extra water and did 6 minutes since the noodles are bigger and there was a little more of them and it came out perfect! So much easier than standing over the stove worried about boil overs! Thank you!
If you wanted to make 2 boxes of Macaroni & Cheese ... how much water do I add and what would the cook time be? Sorry, new to the IP, but am absolutely loving it! Your videos have been a blessing to me, very helpful indeed! Thank you!
I'm was coming to ask the same question but wanted to see if someone else had an answer
These videos are the best! So relaxing to watch and so useful! Thank you for all you do!
Love this video! I wanted to try a box mix for a long time, just couldn’t work up the nerve!😂😂 thanks for showing me How!! I’ve learned a lot from you and continue to keep on learning! ❤️😃❤️
Love it, I just love easy and quick meals. Thank You
I'll try these 3 for sure! I usually do my rice a roni in the microwave and I brown the rice 1st. I don't think it's needed to taste better but you could also do that on saute in the instant pot.
Thank you for this splendid presentation on cooking "box meals" with the instant pot. I was wondering what to do with all the box meals I had purchased because most meals on UA-cam ignore these recipes. I continue to learn how useful my instant pot is in making my life simpler! 💓 👀 6 - 💃 🥘 💥 Thx!
You are so welcome. We hope this helps make side dishes easier to cook in your Instant Pot.
Well, box meals are generally less healthy than real foods so you could just not buy them and cook from scratch instead, which is very quick in an Instant Pot. Then you wouldn't have to wonder what to do with them. I'm just sayin'. I am even finding the frozen box dinners that I used to depend on are no longer faster.
We mix browned hamburger in our beef rice-a-roni.
Thanks for stopping by. That sounds delicious.
I always add a Knorr soup mix when I'm making rice. I add the one half of water the soup mix calls for along with the 1:1.5 that the rice calls for. I've tried all of them. Leek is my favorite.
This is the only video I found that teaches to put the macaroni, butter, and milk in the instant pot and making it this way it comes out so delicious. Much better than traditional stove method.
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you for sharing 🙂 this is going to save my life during tball season for practice & game nights annnnd my husband and son never get tired of rice or Mac and cheese so it’s a win win
You are welcome. Thanks for stopping by. Brace for busy spring with sports and game nights. These recipes will help.
Thanks for putting this one out. I'm getting away from boxes, but this is a great reference.
THANK YOU! We looove hamburger helper and rice a roni but I haven’t seen any IP versions. You made my day!
We are so glad you liked these recipes! Thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment.
Putting the college degree to work. Cooking nutrient deficient food from cardboard boxes in more time than a one pot wonder on the stove. 🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮
Thank you I was curious about the boxed meals. I’m making rice a Ron I for lunch side dish. Thanks again
Anytime I don’t have to hang out at the stove I am walk away..... I am a happy girl!!! 🙌🏻💕
That's how we feel too! Quick and easy and the whole family loves it! Thanks so much for stopping by.
Love you ladies
Thank you 🤗💐
Great tip. Never thought of doing box mix's
I just tried the macaroni hack today! It worked SO WELL!!! I’ve already played around with knorr sides as well! Hadn’t thought of macaroni and cheese! Truly genius!!!
Will you share how you do the Knorr? I have tons of the rice and noodles in my pantry! Thanks.
Thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment. Knorr sides are delicious too!
Rsmr27 can you please share your recipes that you used for KNORR Sides?🙂
I followed the instructions on the Knorr side packaging! Unless if had milk- then I added that after on sauté function! I only did the pasta for 2/3 minutes on pressure cook! And rice I used the rice function!
Rsmr27, thanks for this tip! Making the Mac and cheese tonight this way
I just followed your directions for making a box of Kraft Macaroni & Cheese and it turned out well. My variations included adding 4 sliced hot dogs and some cayenne pepper to spice it up. I took care to ensure that the liquid covered all of the noodles before I added the butter and hot dogs. When making this, I recommend immediately reacting to the cooking timer to release the steam and stir in the powdered cheese. Some of the noodles stuck to the bottom of the pot, but with quick reactionary time and vigorous stirring I was able to prevent them from scorching. The Instant Pot might not be the best way to cook this meal though. If you are looking to avoid having to use a strainer when boiling the noodles in a pot, there are pots with pouring spouts and special lids for straining. The downside is that you then need to nuke the hot dogs in the microwave before mixing them in the macaroni.
I make jambalay in my IP all the time and Mac and cheese and hamburger helper they are all super easy
So practical! Love this!
Thank you!!!!
Great video-sometimes on the go a lot it is difficult to invest a lot of time in a warm meal; this is the solution! Thanks for sharing.
Thank you so much! You will love how quick and easy these are to make.
Love these ideas. I can see myself making all kinds of things now. Thank you ladies.
Hi Vera. You are welcome and thanks so much for stopping by!
Six Sisters' Stuff ❤️
Thank you!
I like sauteing the rice and noodles first...this is much easier! Thanks.
Thanks for stopping by.
I do love the Rice-A-Roni type meals but I sometimes just have it alone! 😬Tfs 💛
We love Rice A Roni alone too! Thanks for stopping by!
We used to make the Kraft mac and cheese in our IP all the time. Then my son had a virus, got sick, and never wanted to eat it again. :( We would make 3 boxes in the 6 quart or 4 boxes in the 8 quart. It's so creamy because all the starch from the noodles stays with it instead of being drained. We always added the milk and cheese after it cooked for 3 minutes. Perfect every time! Will definitely have to try the rice-a-roni. Looks yummy!
Thanks for commenting.
Beef Rice-a-Roni w/ browned hamburger meat & Worcestershire sauce.....yum 🤤. So easy to make in the IP. You can also add mixed veggies to the mix.
Thanks Brandy. We love to hear how everyone spices up their box recipes. Thanks for sharing.
Yummy and easy ! Y'all make it look so easy on using the insta pot and thank you each for the recipes ! 😍❤😍
You are so welcome. Thanks for stopping by.
@@SixSistersStuff My pleasure 😍
Another excellent video. Thank you.
Blue box mac and cheese in instant pot is my go to comfort food. Going to try the hamburger helper and rice a roni thanks for all your great recipes.
Hi Roxanne. Thanks for stopping by and leaving us a comment. You will love these easy recipes.
Can you do a double batch? Do you need to add me cooking time?
Awesome, thanks for sharing these simple meals from the box, who knew :)
Hi Stephanie! Thanks for stopping by. We love quick and easy!
So glad for this video. As IP newbies the boyfriend and I were wondering how to do these in the IP. Thank you!
Best way ever to make MAC & CHEESE FROM BOX~!!
Can't wait to try these. Thanks for sharing. With the Hamburger Helper, have y'all tried putting maybe a can of cream of mushroom and about 1/4 cup of sour cream? I think that would be a great way to spruce up the box meal.
that sounds super yummy!!
I've been making the rice a roni like this for a few years. It is so good. The flavors are much more intense because of the pressure cooking.
I use the Beef version. Cook the hamburger, and remove. Then I toast the rice in butter, as I would on the stove. Then I add the hamburger and the spice pack. Cook it for 5 minutes. QPR, and serve. YUM!
I love the rice-a-roni with either chicken in it, or ground beef and it is so delicious. I also enjoy macaroni and cheese also, but have not tried making it in my Instant Pot yet.
Thanks for stopping by. You'll love the Mac and Cheese.
This is by far the most encouraging video I have seen yet regarding recipes for my Instant Pot. In fact, I got up right immediately after seeing this video and went to make Kraft dinner at 5:00 today. But even though i followed the directions to the T and I did not get the "burn" error message, It tasted ok but it actually had a burnt aftertaste to it. I also watched the entire video to see if I missed anything...ugh...I am definitely missing something
Probably the same thing I am missing - a talent for cooking. I screw everything up even when following a recipe exactly...
Used the hamburger helper option, came out 👌 perfect. Thanks.
Love the Rice A Roni!!
This was awesome!!
Thanks for stopping by.
Thanks so much Yum 😋
Awesome ideas,way to go girls.
You are welcome. We love having to stop by!
As a gluten free option I do this with some of the Zatarains boxed rice mixes. Precooked chicken and/or sliced up rope sausage, frozen mixed veggies, a 14oz can of diced or whole tomatoes (sliced up a bit into large chunks), maybe some diced up carrots, pretty much just wing it on what to throw in. 2-2.5 cups of water. Oh, and a jambalaya, dirty rice or Spanish rice mix. I've used 10 minutes then 5 natural release, but could probably come down a bit.
If adding shrimp I've only used precooked tail-off, thawed and added *after* cooking so they can warm up. I hate to think what they'd be like if you put them in at the start, but it would be bad and your house might reek off horribly overcooked shrimp.
Thanks for stopping by and sharing so many options to the recipes.
I tried making scalloped potatoes last night because I hate how long it takes in the oven. And it came out perfectly!!
That sounds delicious!
Just got the Pot, happy I found the channel, good channel and videos
Thanks for stopping by. We have more delicious recipes coming.
I so love Rice-A-Roni I’m going to try this for sure
Nice! I love it too!!!
Yum
If you add bbq sauce instead of cheese packet after cooking noodles and sprinkle with cheese and bake. Its delicious.
Thanks for stopping by. BBQ sauce would be delicious!
Loved making Mac in the IP so much easier. Thank you for making my life easier girls?
I just perfected white rice in my 3 quart!!! I can ditch my rice cooker!!!! These boxed meals will be so fun to make in it!!!!
That's so exciting!! They are the best!
these are great for teaching your teenagers how to use the instant pot!
Love it
I make Hamburger Helper Beef Stroganoff often. It really tastes fantastic if you add 1 cup of Pace Mild Chunky Salsa and a cup of frozen mixed vegetables and possibly a cup or more of broccoli florets. I also sprinkle on Parmesan cheese after plating.
I always saute some onions & add frozen vegetables too. ☺
Thanks for stopping by. You hamburger helper add ins sound amazing! Thanks for sharing.
So cute, big sister supervising.
Question: are you going to work with the new Air Fryer lid for the Instant Pot? I would love to learn more about it from you.
We are working with Instant Pot right now to get you some recipes with it!
I like the Knoor individual packets that have rice or noodles. My fave is thr broccoli and cheese and I've been making those in my IP for awhile now but I don't pour directly into the pot. I use those little silver containers, the ones you make the meatloaf in, can't remember the name but that way only the little dish gets dirty and not the whole pot. Plenty of room for over 2 cups of rice FYI.
With the rice-a-roni I put the butter in first and melt it then put in the rice and brown the rice. Then I add the liquid and seasoning and cook for 5 minutes
Great video! You two seem like you genuinely have fun😊. Have you ever sauteed the rice a roni in the instant pot first?
That's what I'd do, (as you'd normally do it that way on the stovetop!) It would only take a few minutes more and is so much better!
Thanks so much. We have fun working together as sisters. You could saute your rice in the instant pot first.
If you make these in a 3 quart, would you add in the milk last?
For those of us using the 3 qt could you sometimes and changes if there are any for the mini or if a boxed meal or something can't be cooked in the mini? If you thanks.
i have not tried this yet. i think this might be our lunch and dinner friday
I made the rice-a-roni, add left over chicken and frozen broccoli for a great one pot meal
Looking for easy cleanup. Would these work for pot-in-pot?
Hello, my hubby and I enjoy your videos. What instapot do you use? Which size, brand and where did you get it? So many questions, we need help. Our instapot 3qt from kohl’s just broke. Thank you fir your wonderful videos.
Are you using the exact amount of water specified on the rice a roni box or did you reduce it down a bit? I think the different varieties may have different amounts specified so just making sure I do this right?
Oh my gosh I love these recipes and I love when the camera goes up above
Thanks for stopping by!
I love you channel and ideas for cooking in the instant pot. With your vast knowledge, off the cuff, would you be able to give some ideas about how-what to stack in the instant pot? Say cook an entire meal, main and sides, in the instant pot? Items that take approximately the same about of time to cook?
Frozen chicken breast and cubed potatoes: 10 mins. Add frozen veggies when its done and keep in on "keep warm" setting til veggies steam (5 mins ish) super easy
@@geoplanetaire alright, just had a "duh" moment. lol. thanks M!
How much water would you use with the family size Rice-A-Roni? Love your videos
For the hamburger helper if you use the one with elbow or shell pasta would you do the 4 mins?
I know you covered the noodle hamburger helper but do you have recommendations foe the rice hamburger helpers?
Would this work the same with the boxed Velveeta Mac and Cheese for instance?
Yes, definitely! Just add the cheese at the end!
A great video you 2.
I don't have a IP. Just a regular electric pressure cooker. Are you cooking all of these on 150 pressure? Thanks!
If I want to double the rice a roni by making 2 boxes do I need to do additional time and is just doubling the ingredients ok? By they way thanks for all your videos.
@Kim M, the cook time will remain the same
how do I know if I am cooking noodles or rice how many minutes to cook them on? Is there like a cheat sheet
I love Rice a Roni in my instapot!!!
Have you ever tried making 2 boxes? Do you double everything? Even water? What about time?
What if I were doing two boxes of hamburger helper, how should I adjust the liquid?
Nice!
Thanks Shannon!
If you make the family size box do you have to add more cooking time?
I bet if you added ground beef sauted with onions and garlic and then add in the rice-a-roni (say the cheddar broccoli flavor) and cooked it , that would be a fantastic meal.
Hi Pamela. Thanks for commenting. That sounds amazing added in to the rice a roni. YUM!
@@SixSistersStuff I'm trying it this weekend, I got the Spanish rice Rice-a-Roni, hamburger, onion, and a can of diced tomatoes...hopefully it'll come out good. :)
Came out good but wish I had added some diced green pepper too
Pamela Merrill how did it turn out? If you could please post how are you did it with the instructions that would be awesome.
Would the instant pot work with the packets of noodles and rice like the knorr pasta side?
After you sauted the hamburger in the IP (I have a Ninja Foodi) did you drain the grease?
Makes me want to try boxed scalloped potatoes
If you have two boxes of mac & cheese, do you double the amount of water?
Thank you for this video. Love it. Quick question. If you do 2 boxes at once, do you need to increase the cooking time or should remain the same?
Add more liquid but the time would be the same.
@@MTTRON By more liquid do you mean just double the original measurements you'd do for a single box?
@@Marioalexanderleon yes simply follow the directions on the box. If it's two boxes double the liquid. I like to substitute some of the water with chicken broth!
@@MTTRON awesome thanks!!
question - if you cook 2 boxes mac and cheese do you double cooking time or leave at 4 minutes
Add peas and chopped ham at the end when you make the Mac n cheese, stir to warm through or put the peas in with the noodles at the start if they’re frozen.
Great tip!
Just tried the Hamburger Helper with canned beef turned out perfect. Do you have any for Pasta roni and Tuna and chicken Helper?
Sometimes I use the canned pork just as good
I just used the hamburger helper recipe, it works perfectly.
When you said it to 0 for the hamburger helper, how long do you leave it? Does the machine tell you when it's done?
So you can sauté the noodles in the butter in order to brown the rice a lil then add the water and cook-nice
It would be great to get some recipes for the diy alternatives for all three items. All three are pretty easy to throw together without having to resort to a box, and there's some powdered dehydrated cheeses that work very well to make a blue-box mac & cheese from powder (look up binging with Babish for deets)
How long is the saute part of the hamburger helper thing?
