Hey guys. My store: www.longshotstore.com/ Join me on Discord: discord.gg/drNE6bT In this Eagle Dynamics: Digital Combat Simulator video im flying the f5 tiger against the a4 skyhawk in a guns only dogfight. Thank you to Victor for flying the a4 for us in this video. Hope you guys enjoy!
Hey LongShot, thanks for the very educational video. Your explanation of the rolling scissors and taking the time to draw the little arrows describing the fights was a nice touch. Channel getting better every upload. Keep it up.
You describing the rolling scissors and one circle counter made some sense as I tried to picture it, and then you actually illustrated it. That's when it clicked! Great video, yo
Indeed, I've never been able to remember "one circle/two circle do see do"... That, and lift vector both need graphics (probably as thinner lines, though)
I dont know why, but this simple style made understanding the circle fights and the lift vector click in my mind so much better than a lot of explanations I've watched. Good job 👏🏻
Good stuff LS!!!!! The recovery from accidentally putting yourself in a bad position was most excellent! Situational awareness, is so key in a dog fight, you have to know exactly when you start to loose, or you're dead. Again, good stuff!
Excellent explanations of your tactics. They're the tactics that all experienced sim fighters use, but not many people seem to put them in words very well. Good video. You earned a sub, and I look forward to your engagements from here on out!
I have always been a big fan of your videos and I found this video, brilliant. The ding and then the arrows and explanations on what was going on, genius! Hate to say this, but I had the one circle and two circle fights mixed up. As always I click for the action and stay for the narration, but now the explanations also. Brilliant video, thank you.
Great videos. Can we see some stationary third person camera views? It would be great to see how the jets dogfight in relation to one another from the ground/mid-air/above. For example, when you state that the opponent is in a low energy state, it's hard for me to see that from your point of view. GS tacview is nice, but it might be interesting to see the action as it happens. Thanks again for the great vids. I'm not a DCS player, but I'm a big fan of yours and GS videos.
Thanks for the description of rolling scissors, TIL the importance about keeping my lift vectors behind opponent. The illustrations helped for us a bit slow) with physics and stuff.
Appreciate the style with wc you illustrate the diff.fighter terms like rate fight, lift vector, etc, keep it up dude! also, that Skyhawk was such a nimble little mouse wasn't he?
Hi! Could you perhaps share your head tracking angle ranges for yaw and pitch? I can't seem to get a proper "check six" capability. I'm using FreeTrack.
It's a good fight and also a good tutorial, but i have a question that i adjust my thrust to stay behind my opponent when i'm in the rolling scissor witn him,he may have more speed and higher thrust-weight ratio engine than me and if he climb at this time i may not be able to follow with him or i may stall beneath him and be out of the gun range, what i should do or i misunderstand about the question
If he is faster, he will most likely be infront of you. In a rolling scissors, you both slow, and to gain speed, well, you need to gain it, what means, allmost level flight (to recover). If he will do that, he should be dead. You going to have a good few moments to take him down
Not to take away from the glory of your victory... but I think he just did a slow speed barrel roll and then departed flight lol Your hits on his tail couldnt have helped the situation but I think he was doomed

Thank you for that. I realy appreciate the support and the kind words
I second this
Beautiful video illustrating the difference between one and two circle BFM and how to look for cues in how the maneuvers are progressing.
Thank you very much, im glad you liked it

Great job on the explanation of the terms when I started dcs watching UA-cam I was pretty confused by them so it’s for sure helping the new audience
I like the lift vector and circle type explanations in the video, clarifies your lesson objectives nicely for newbs and old hands alike!
Thanks, glad you found it usefull

@@LongShotChannel No thank you! Your videos are freaking epic!

Thank you so much for the explanations! Started watching your channels a while ago and have been confused on some of the terminology.
Excellent explanations of your tactics. They're the tactics that all experienced sim fighters use, but not many people seem to put them in words very well. Good video. You earned a sub, and I look forward to your engagements from here on out!

Those rolling scissors were beautiful indeed!
Very well done ;)

Yup, good work with the flying and the explanations. Moving from being the trainee to the trainer!

Loved the video and the explanations, I'm now almost understanding the terms. Great work!
Glad you liked it, thank you

Thank you and not a bad idea buddy, ill keep that in mind
I've heard that a lot of American 'Red' Air pilots, both Navy, and Air Force loved flying the F-5.
Another enjoyable video, keep them coming
Thank you very much, glad you enjoyed
Great video! Very much appreciate the explanations, and hearing what you intend to do, and then following your actions as you carry it out.
Thanks alot, im glad you found it usefull
Damn LongShot, you are turning into a "Mig killer" Sir!
Nice job, liked the visuals or lines you drew. Sometimes it’s hard to see on YT. Nicely done!
2:23 LOLOLOLOL
LOVE THOSE FUNNY EDITS.
Lol, glad you liked it
Thanks for explaining everything. I'm trying to learn how to dogfight and I'm not that good at all lol
Thanks for the description of rolling scissors, TIL the importance about keeping my lift vectors behind opponent. The illustrations helped for us a bit slow) with physics and stuff.
Thank you, glad you found it useful
I'd like to see you do a MiG-19 vs F-5 fight with GS. I'd bet you could take him in the F-5....
3:20 "All you need to do is to have the bandit in front of you"
- Longshot, Top Gun Instructor
But really though, the explanation of how you do that right after was on point.
Very cool. The added notes were very helpful.
Thank you
Nice concept of explanations and clarifications of terms makes things a little bit more understandable.

Always will love the F-5
Cool vid, love the “bing” moments.
Fly these bad boys against the Mig 19. I Can’t get near it in the F5 but the A4 is so easy.
I suspected you were Israeli, the accent sounded vaguely familiar.
Much love from SA Longshot!
I did not expect an attack aircraft like the A4 to put up fight against an F-5 of all things
That was a majestic scissor Longshot........!
Yeah, was pretty cool
Super clear explanations. Awesome video!
Awesome, thank you very much
So basically Chilean Air Force vs Argentina Air Force since the late seventies early 80's
Yep scary thought 1978….
@@socotroquito2007 quite
Brilliant
Thanks
Good fight.
Thx
Thank you
Dude a CAS with av8 or a4 would be Nice
Make more videos with the Gripen like Gripen vs Eurofighter!
Now I have to go dogfight in DCS... Thnx Longshot.
Great buddy, i hope you will have fun, thanks
Careful LS! You know the problem the Mig 28 has with it's inverted flight tanks. ✈ it won't do a negative G pushover.
"Well i happend go see a mig 28 do a negative 4 G dive"
@@LongShotChannel So, you're the one!
Lol...
Kelly was so hot in that movie. It's tragic how she aged. I don't care that she's an alternate sexuality. It's just a shame she aged out so fast.
Do you ever yell out 'Growling Sidewinder take that!!!' when you make a kill?
I love the F-5 :) I do wish we could get an updated model, but the E works fine :)
Is this the LongShot told of in War Thunder?
Nope
Very good video, I hope in the next update the A4E will be better turning at low speed, it has to be a lot better than now.
It's not far off, but you are correct it is underperforming a little bit. The sustained turn rate at higher speeds is pretty much spot on as is.
Kept it nice and simple and to worked quite well ,
ידעתי שאתה ישראלי כל כך קל לזהות את המבטא , בלי קשר אחלה סרטון ורציתי לשאול אם היית טייס בצהל?
תודה. לא הייתי טייס
nice flying of the F-5 between you and growling sidewinder, who has more kills

It feels kinda short to have only one round but nice video!
Thank you

Good fight !!!

Not to take away from the glory of your victory... but I think he just did a slow speed barrel roll and then departed flight lol Your hits on his tail couldnt have helped the situation but I think he was doomed
Too cheaky?
Chile f5 vs argentina a4
