Let’s all chip in and start a vacation fund for Elsie. That woman deserves a trip to Hawaii.
She'd be homesick.
I highly doubt she’d want one

Also Nate: casually hanging out with the Prince of Liechtenstein.
I was thinking the same thing 😂
One assumes that the mayor was duly elected (by herself), unlike the prince. Americans are republicans by breed and birth, opposed to monarchy.

Now I want to visit soo bad!
I haven’t seen a hard working person in a very long time !! Work ethic has been lost with the 80’s !!!!!! So nice to hear Nebraska is like that 👍

I’ve seen every single vlog but I have to say, this might be my favorite. Elsie is a complete GEM and reminds me so much of my grandmother. Absolutely loved this video.
I'm crying and I don't know why. Oh yeah, that library she had made in her husband's honor. This is a amazing story of someone I've never met, she's great

Yes, they were incredibly stupid to point out her house and location. Her life as she knew and loved it is over. Mega-idiots will rush to check out her world, and ruin it.
@@lucygray6162 Her life won't be over, but theirs might. Watching this video I know this sweet lady is protected by the good 'ol boys. Her customers that come in the Tavern. So no worries. My parents live in Freetown, Indiana. They town can't afford to incorporate so they are considered a Village. The elementary school and bank closed. The post office is open mornings. They do have a few tiny businesses locally owned and a little museum. It does not have a police department. If it floods or snows too much its likely you are stuck for awhile. Recently a Dollar General opened and provides some groceries and essentials. There are a few churches for those who enjoy sharing worship with the community. My father has a tiny congregation at his church down the street from where he and my mom live. They have been there over 15 years now. It's an interesting and quaint community. Might be an interesting place for you to visit.

This is one of my favorite episodes! So glad you pushed through the awkwardness and stayed to connect with Elsie, and then some of the local folks. You did a great job capturing the different aspects of the rural mid-west.
She seem very content and all right with her situation. She not afraid or alone. Seem like the folks that's live outside the town. Look out for her. She is at peace with her life. And that is all that matters.💯
I hope she will be able to handle the influx of visitors coming her way after watching this video.
Hope so too
I'm sure she'd love the extra businesses. Maybe even hire a helper!
She's getting old and what could be the possible outcome after she's gone. She must be a strong woman over these years.

This is why I love your videos! Yes, watching the extremely physical challenges, seeing the beautiful landscapes of the world and being along with you both as you try new things is great, but underneath it what I admire about you both is that you are willing to sit and listen to people. As a kid I lived in a town called Spencer which was near Monowi. I used to go to the tavern with my great aunt and uncle for supper. My aunt and uncle were very religious and never drank or smoked, so it always struck me as odd that they would go to a "tavern" to eat and visit with people they knew. There were a few more folks in Monowi back then, but not many!
Thanks for this video.
