Originally from Nashville, Tennessee, we got married June 2013 and quickly caught the #travel bug! We started “travel hacking” & finally decided we wanted to go travel for one year. After 2 years of saving $ and over 2 million miles and points, we sold our cars and apartment and left home January 10, 2016. We started this #travelvlog to share our experiences with friends and family, then decided we really liked vlogging and traveling, and we didn’t want to stop after just one year! After achieving our new goal of 100 countries and then all 7 continents (check out our documentary here: • 100th COUNTRY DOCUMENTARY , we had no plans to slow down, until 2020 decided to force us to ;) which is when we bought a converted Sprinter van to start exploring our own country for the first time. It was a major adjustment and so different than flying every week like we were used to, but we are incredibly thankful to be able to continue doing something we love every day. 😊🎥🌎

Looks cool. Kara and Nate you guys should watch the video by a youtube channel called "rv miles" it is no longer illegal to film in National Parks without a permit. There was a court case and we won!!! Go get your money back!! Let's see the parks!!

I'm so glad you guys were able to give Brent some publicity! I've been watching since month 2 and have tracked his journey over the year. He's a huge inspiration to me as a person and I'm so glad to see he's getting acknowledged. He's an absolute gem of this world.

He has one and he has been looking for coins, multiple times. :)
He also has a sieve, so he don't lose any smaller trinkets. That way he can preserve even the tiniest details for the museum

I've watched Brent since the beginning, your channel was recommended. Cool to see people visiting him. Very sad that the American Hotel burned down, I remember getting the notification from Brent and I think we all cried with him....
I love that the last owners son kept their wishes in mind and accepted the bid that was in the best interests of the town and his parents interests, even though it was the lower bid.

I watch him all the time! I legitimately cried when the hotel burnt down 😭 it was the main place. It was why he was restoring the town in the first place 😱

Wow, that is amazing! And so quiet and private! He could literally turn the town into an air BNB and make all of his money back pretty quick. Caring for the land and restoring the buildings is a great investment. Falls under the category of the guy of my dreams. (Owns 400 acre ghost town and a lot of goats and cats)

Love Cerro Gordo, but afraid of mines. When I was a kid I read "Five Boys in a Cave" and that cured me of any desire to ever go spelunking! I'm particularly intrigued with the haunted bunk house and really feel bad about the hotel burning down.

I am incredibly glad that you filmed this. So cool to see an old mining town and the buildings, but the highlight of my watching was when the cat knocked the camera over, only because most people would have deleted that. It was very unrehearsed and real. I loved that!

He is so not crazy, this is amazing, if I wasn't my age I'd volunteer my time to help him, don't know what help I'd be, but I love this history of this place.
I have been watching this guy all year. Love Death Valley ( I first hand studied the geology-biology there) and ALL the boom towns around it. Looking forward to being able to visit Cerro Gordo one day!! So excited to watch this episode! If you do any episodes about the Joshua Trees - please mention the struggles they face in the future (extinction with climate changing) and how it affects the mutualistic relationship between the yucca moth and the tree.
